Last Sunday around 3:00 AM we lost internet at our house--our Wi-Fi thermostat alerted us first. We immediately called COX Customer Service and were surprised that we reached a representative right away. After placing us on a brief hold, she confirmed that a technician would arrive between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM... on a Sunday! Honestly, we weren't sure it would happen--but right at 8:40 AM a COX truck pulled up in front of our house. The technician was extremely courteous and professional. He fixed the issue quickly and even gave us his personal cell number, saying, "Anytime you have an issue, call me." That level of service is rare these days. WHAT A GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. We are a retired couple on a fixed budget and although we don't qualify for "their stated low income" to qualify for assistance I'm disappointed there was no consideration given whatsoever! Our call was handed off to multiple people and disconnected twice and we had to call back. Customer service clearly didn't want to talk to us, thus the handoff, and the people we did talk to could not have been more UNSYMPATHETIC!! We will be forced to end our COX service most likely if they don't adjust their pricing soon and get more in line with their competition. Listen, I know this is a cliche and all, but Cox doesn't even deserve 0 stars. This is by far the WORST internet service provider someone may have the displeasure of being stuck with. To begin, the quality of the internet for the price is below the average line of other named brands (AT&T, Verizon, Wyyred, ect), with their prices far surpassing $100 for 1GIG download ONLY, while the upload remains at a measly 50 Mbps. Admittedly, I have rarely found myself ever needing these upload speeds, instead requiring the download. BUT, this leads to the next major pitfall of this shameful provider. The reliability of Cox is, without a doubt, the most horrendous and anger-inducing part of the whole experience. For 3 years now, every day is met with a period of unusable speeds that aren't even enough to load a Google page. I wish I could pinpoint this issue to something on my end, but I have gone through literally everything in my power. I have been connected to the Ethernet, changed the router 3 times, cleared any obstructions to the cables that connect the house, and used a disgustingly large assortment of cables and positions for the router. All of which have led to the same disappointing result of unusable WiFi and internet connection. The customer service is also the embodiment of being there to take your money. My family and I have contacted Cox over the phone probably a dozen times within the last 2 years, and have heard the same story every single time: "Pay us x amount of dollars, or call a technician and your problem will be solved." Well, even if you fall for this scam, you will regress to the same reliability and speeds as before, just now with less money in your hand, but in the hands of the greedy corporation that doesn't care about the customers. Lastly, the responsiveness to THEIR outages is genuinely hilarious. When there is an outage, which seems to be biweekly at this point, the time it takes their technicians to fix the issues can range from half a day to a day. Overall, if you are looking for a provider that is there for you and can at least give you a fairer price for what you get, don't go to this awful provider and save yourself a year's worth of headaches and regret. read more

It's too expensive for such poor service. I pay $273 per month. For an office with only two people and no such large amount of equipment, the internet signal is poor. Customer service is terrible. No one speaks Spanish. I decided to cancel, and they told me my contract was for two years. That's a lie because it was only for one year. The rest of the time is flexible. If I decide to cancel, they manipulate me with the contract and tell me they'll give me an offer. I'm amazed that Donald Trump claims to support small businesses and unfortunately doesn't try to put a stop to the blatant scams by internet and phone providers. Between the rent and the utilities, more than half of the cost is spent. It's better to work from home or online. That way, you avoid further theft. read more

I trusted them with by business Internet but recently found that there are less expensive options. I tried to cancel my business account, and was told I would have to pay a penalty of over $3,000.00, or continue to pay the high monthly cost for another 10 months. Had horrible service. A full 3 days of outage and many other small outages each month. Slow download and upload speeds even though we paid for 500 mbps (maybe got 30/10). Cut the cord after the 3 day outage after over 20 years of being a loyal customer. Was told the cancellation fee of $120 would be waived, yet got a bill the next month for $120. Called in to customer service, again was assured the $120 would be waived. Following month got a bill again for the $120 and this time when I called was told waiving the fee was not possible. I scheduled an appointment for a tech to come out after doing all the troubleshooting steps over the weekend and talking to a couple of reps. The tech was scheduled to come out Monday between 3 and 5. We were home the entire time so I called at 5 to check on tech ETA. Then was told to call back in 30 mins if tech didn't call or show up, so I called again at 530. I was on phone then with another rep, foreign rep, who was on the phone with me for 30 mins checking on tech ETA. THey said tech was on the way. Okay. Then foreign rep called me back to check if tech had shown, I reported no one showed up and no calls. He had me on hold for a long time and I was super patient and understanding for all these calls. He pops back on and said the tech was at my house and tried the door three times and tried to call me, I was home, the whole family was home, no one came to my opened door. It was opened. No tech was there. Rep said the tech was there at 540. I then said, I was on the phone with the rep at that time still and NO ONE SHOWED UP at my door. Rep said that is all he could report and I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone else and he said he had all the authority and refused to transfer me. Hubby took my box to the Cox store and they were more helpful. THe foreign rep said he can reschedule me for tomorrow, Wednesday at 5 to 7. Which I anticipate another no-show or excuse. This seems like something the techs are doing to not show up during the later times.  How do I formally report this tech and rep who clearly were dishonest about "being at my house and I was not home" when I actually was(?). I also have a ring camera which will show no one came to my door or even drove by on our street in a cox or service truck. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so frustrated. Horrible service! Besides that when pricing drops they don't ever offer you the deal! 5 years paying almost $200 for something someone can pay $60! They say no promotion offered on your account but that's because I'm in an area that only offers Cox so I've never been offered a promotion as long as I e lived in this location. They seem to not know what their doing saying departments are closed when their not. All around horrible experiences with Cox! DO NOT USE COX COMMUNICATIONS FOR ANYTHING TV or Internet. I had them at my prior home and since I used the home a couple times a year I gave in to the poor internet speeds basically it was enough for what I was needing it for. Thus I paid for the service which was substandard at best. Fast forward to new home in Arroyo Seco, Buckeye Az. Install was set for September 2024 my wife and I had to get plane tickets to ensure we were there for the install and I made it clear to Cox that if we are not getting what is supposed to be the proper speed we are paying for then we will not be paying for the service, well you guessed it we had set up for 2 gig speed and it wasn't even doing 100 mbps, so we told them take the equipment out and we will not be using them. Cox personnel assured us they would get the problem fixed and would notify us once that happened. 2 months later we get the call the issue is handled we can do install once again. I fly my wife in to Az for the install at short notice, I couldn't make the trip thus I made it crystal clear when I do arrive at the home and check our speeds they better be at the standard we are paying for. I arrive at the home 6 months after install first thing I do is check speeds on Ookla and Speedtest.net, test was conducted with Dell laptop, Iphone 15 Pro, and Mac Air. The results are as follows Dell laptop 155 mbps, iphone 15 pro 90 mbps, Mac air 105 mbps. Far cry from 2 gig. This is when the calls started and technicians start arriving to assist. They have me switch to split band assuring me this is the issue, told me in 30 minutes from doing this it will be operating as it should. You guessed it the speeds got worse. Then the Tech says the house is to big put in eero's to help, well I have done this on the prior home and same results so I tell the technician in my development there are at least 10 homes identical to mine and I have talked to a few of my neighbors and no one is having this bad of an issue with there's however could be because a lot of the have switched to Wyyred. Cox schedules a supervisor to be at my home, well no supervisor arrives it is another substandard technician, I show him what the speeds are at and we are right next to the router when we do the test and sure enough 86 mbps, on the iphone 15 pro. I am not going to prolong this review, this is the bottom line, numerous calls to this company everyone promising this and that we will give you free movie channels money towards the bill. How about give me what I have been paying for, they are the worst in the industry and their reviews show that. STAY AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE FROM COX TV AND INTERNET. Read their reviews it says it all and I have been probably the most patient customer with them, but enough is enough and after the hours on the phone to cancel, I am finally glad to be away from this company. Service Requested: Around July 3 I started the process to cancel my Cox internet service. I followed the instructions that stated I need to return the equipment which I did. That was done on July 5th. I still kept getting billed. I contacted Cox around aug 16th and was assured my service would be cancelled and my last payment refunded. The last payment was refunded but come 09/06 I was notified that I would be billed again. Today 09/06 I called again. I got sent to another level of support after 5 or 10 minutes. The second person could resolve the problem and got more people involved. After about 20 minutes no resolution. Looks like no one can figure this one out. I'm still on hold. Value: How about valuing my time Cox and stop harassing me with bills. One lesson learned: Probably should have watched my temper. I think these people are trying to help, but must be working with terrible systems and are not able to provide any help. Last thought: might want to say away from Cox if you have alternatives. What a total rip off! If you have any service through COX I advise you to check your bill with on their website or on your paper bill. I was getting a paperless bill since I first started service with COX. I would simply pay the bill and move on. Two years into the service I noticed they were charging me with a Homelife service I was not using or authorized them to put on my account. After I called Cox to discuss this issue, they told me even even though the service was not provided to me since December 2021, I am only due two month reimbursement. I own 3 homes, all had Cox cable, phone and internet services. I was over-charged at all homes totaling over $1500. It took me several calls and chats online and ultimately store visits to resolve everything, but I finally thought it was resolved when I got refunds. Due to my frustration and time spent trying to resolve these issues, I cancelled all 3 homes cable services and moved them to Dish Network. However, the following month Cox charged me everything back to the accounts. Cox has predatory billing practices and has been terrible to deal with since I signed up. Terrible service, overcharged price we had to go to our specific business account rep and his manager I asked them to come to our office to see how we can reduced our monthly fees. They finally did. He said he'd get back with me after talking to his boss. He never gotten back with me. 2 months later, we decided to go with another company. Only wanted to keep internet service. We returned all their equipment in June. When we called business service, they told us we had to talk to OUR account rep. Emailed and Phoned him, back and forth. Finally got to him July 7th. This company is absolutely awful. Their service is not the greatest. There are outages quite frequently. Every time we've moved, they've given us trouble about setting up the internet in our new home. After many issues with the internet service, we decided to try a different company. I was told prior to the start of our new internet service that canceling would be a breeze, I would just have to cancel when I was ready, as they couldn't schedule a shut off more than 24 hours prior, which is odd considering they can schedule moves. Regardless I collected information from the associate about what I would need to do upon canceling my internet service. I was informed that the modem would need to be returned. Fast forward to now. Our new service was set up, so I unplugged my modem, packaged it up, and contacted cox to get my service canceled. The first time I contacted them, I was transferred three times. The final transfer left me on hold for approximately 20 minutes before I became irritated and tried again. Keep in mind that everyone else I was transferred to was readily available. I tried contacting them again. A second time I was told that I would need to be transferred and I waited in limbo for approximately 15 minutes. I tried one last time. Again, I was told that they couldn't cancel my service, that they would have to transfer me. After 10 minutes waiting for the other department I gave up. This company will HOLD YOU HOSTAGE. They will NOT let you cancel. You will have to jump through hoops to end your services with Cox. Use ANY OTHER provider before Cox. I'd rather go without internet before ever going back to Cox. I am now being told that unless I leave the cameras attached to THAT account, they will not work even with another COX account. So, I paid $500.00 for the cameras and was not told this until the end of the time. I had one more year on the account at $96.00/mo. that COX wanted me to continue.
