***** FI've NEGATIVE Stars ***** I will never recommend Directv after how I was treated recently. I signed up in October 2015, and was told I would receive free movie channels and free NFL ticket for 90 days. I called in January to cancel before my 90 day trial was up, and I stated that I never was abke to view he NFL Sunday Ticket, and that I wanted to cancel all of the promotional channels so my bill would not increase. My next bill showed an increase for the premium movie channels, so I called again. I also realized that there were extra charges for my second and third receivers that I didn't see previosly, so I cancelled one of them, and arranged to return the equipment. I ended up speaking with three different individuals, and spent more than two hours on tthe phone before the issue was resolved regarding the bill. I had performance issues, but was told that it must be from my Internet service, which I purchased in a package along with DIRECTV, provided by CenturyLink. This issue was never resolved. In June, I received a notice from Directv that NFL Sunday Ticket was starting again, and if I didn't cancel by 9/11 I would automatically be billed for $44.95 a month for 6 months. I called on July 5th and canceled, explaining that I never signed up for it to begin with, and how I had specifically addressed cancelling all promotional channels back in January. I thought the issue was resolved finally as I got off of the call. My next bill arrived, and the charge for NFL SundayTicket was on there. This was still July, and the letter I received told me I could cancel up until September 11th. I called stated that I was being billed for NFL Sunday Ticket, and that I never ordered it in the first place. The representative told me that it would only be on the bill if I had ordered it, and not cancelled in time. I explained again what happened, and was told again that I was billed because I didn't cancel The representative then tried to tell me that Directv had already paid NFL Ticket for the service, and I would have to call them to get tthe charge credited back to Directv and then I could get credit on my account for the charge. I asked for a supervisor who also told me it was my fault. I then told them to terminate my service, that I was done with DIRECTV The supervisor wasn't able to do that for me, but inseam transferred me to another representative. This person tried to get me not to cancel, and when I told him that I was through dealing with DirecTV, he told me that I would be charged $280 for early termination. I told him I understand that I agreed to that when I signed up, but that I didn't feel they were providing the service that was their part of the agreement. He then stared an oratory on how customers are always trying to get out of paying the termination fees. I tried to interrupt and explain that I planned to pay the fee, but wanted him to document the complete reason why. He didn't stop for several minutes, and when he did I asked for his name, and he was silent. After 20 seconds or so, he asked if I was still there? I said I was, and kept trying to get him to respond to me. He asked again if I was there, and then stated the 800 number for DirecTV and told me to call back if I could hear him. I did call back so I could make sure the service was canceled, and to find out how to return the equipment, etc... I was told that the account already showed as being terminated, and was advised of the process and time line for final billing, and equipment return. Several days later, I receive a box for sending back the equipment. Enclosed were instructions that specified the serial numbers of the equipment I was supposed to return, and how much I would be charged if they didn't receive each piece of equipment. In checking the serial numbers I saw that one of the units #s didn't match what their paperwork indicated. I called..... I explained my concern, and was told to send the equipment anyway. I stayed that I wasn't comfortable doing that without something in writing to protect me from being billed as their paperwork indicated. The representative told me that she was unable to send an email, nor could her supervisor. She said her supervisor told her she could send another packing slip, but that I would only have 7 days to return tthe equipment. I was going to have difficulty doing that so I ended up sending the equipment back, based on my instinct that this one individual that I dealt with from DirecTV actually had the integrity to do as she said she would. I hope I am right about her. I know I made the right choice in not continuing to do business with DirecTV. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!! (This was sent to DirecTV, and posted in Yelp weeks later. I had already paid my early disconnect fees, and the prorated amount to close my account; however, they were paid through a combined billing with Century Link, and billed me through that account as if I was still a customer). DirecTV cancelled my first appointment because THEIR technician didn't have the right equipment to install my satellite/service. THEY then reschedule me for the following Wednesday and when I called the prior Tuesday I was transferred to 3 different departments and given an additional 3 different toll free numbers and still could not get anyone to confirm my appointment. It wasn't I was at my wits end that I asked for a manager and only to find there was no record of appointment. TERRIBLE SERVICE ALL THE WAY AROUND. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH DIRECTV. read more

Worst customer service ever. Can't fix anything they just hang up on you when they don't want to deal with you anymore

The bad reviews really do not surprise me. I thought there would be more. I have had directv for years. The bottom line is if you can live without sports packages like NFL Sunday ticket then go with any other company. Next to the utility companies dtv is close To a monopoly. Rates always going up, not always very helpful and it's just the downside of being a big company. There just aren't enough good employees to meet the needs. I can say every install I have had in the last 10 years has an inexperienced or lazy tech. Recently I called to let them know that there was a sever delay when I would use the remote to change a channel almost without fail it would always go to the wrong channel, almost like the remote needed time to "warm up". I called with my concern and they gave me the same advice my 10 year old Would give. Did you change the batteries? Yes. Try cleaning off the plastic in front of the sensor. Which I did. After that they sort of just took on the "oh well. It's your problem". They didn't say that but it was clearly the attitude. My contract is up in about a month and since I now have a way of getting NFL Sunday ticket thru another outlet I no longer need dtv. This is very exciting, bills are crazy high and I don't watch all the channels. I called last night to let them know my intention and they said to call a few days before so I can send them the equipment. Dtv loves to Auto renew any sports package. I called a day after the MLB season started to cancel and they told me it was too late. The girl on the phone said once I cancel they would credit me back for the NFL Sunday ticket. I clearly didn't trust them. They wouldn't let me cancel a day after MLB started why would they credit me back 3 weeks after NFL season started? I made sure they didn't auto renew just to be sure. The rep asks me why I'm canceling and I have her a condensed version of the past 15 years but mainly highlighted the whole remote issue. She says oh well you should upgrade to the genie. I said is it new? She said no we have had it for awhile. I said a year? She said a little longer than that. I just said oh ok, and just said I wanted to cancel. Here is the major problem. When I called last time there was no mention of this new equipment which makes me wonder, if I don't speak to someone who knows enough or like most of their employees that do not care I will always wonder if there is a solution or not. They are company you can't trust because they have so many employees. Some are good employees and many of them lazy. If you go with directv you are going to go with the most expensive tv option with what I feel is the worst customer service. I had to go thru my bill recently to take off a few things I was being charged for that I never remember ordering. I clearly have had many bad experience and someone could have had a great experience, but looks like there are a lot more that have had a bad time like me. They are great for sports but that's it and you still pay too much. Look elsewhere if possible. read more

I have been a Directv customer for 15 years. The tech support and customer service were never good but I finally had enough and dropped it. Tech issue that has not been fixed in several days. After 2 hours on the phone and then repair team not showing up, I AM DONE! 15 years and $170.00/month and I can't get a repair man to show up? Terrible. read more

Be very careful with these guys. I was told I would receive the Costco gift card, an hd receiver and a genie receiver all for one price including nfl ticket. Turns out the tech shows up with two standard receivers (not hd) and cust service says going to be an extra 20 a month if I want HD! Wow! Also said they don't do the Costco gift card that I was promised during the initial call. Sent the tech packing and truly happy to avoid lies, misconceptions, and headaches for the next 2 years. Be aware the sales guys will tell you anything to get you set up for service....anything!!! read more

DirecTV themselves are not all that bad. Their Service is OK. I have had their service in the past and thought it wasn't all that bad. That was until I got the Genie. At first it wasn't bad. Slow to respond, but not bad. Then the issues started. Grey Screen. It's as bad as the dreaded Blue Screen from Windows. After a few phone calls to tech support their solution is to reset the main receiver every time it happens. Well now it happens every night. So they had a tech come out. He swapped gear. It's now still happening. They say it's a known issue, but the issue has been happening for at least a year and half now and they still have no solution other than reset the main receiver. To me....that is NOT a solution. When I am done with this 2 year contract I will never go back. Dish was 100% better and more responsive. read more

I'm an existing Direct TV customer. Currently watching the football game on NBC. Coincidently all channels are working but NBC's game, the image is completely distorted and freezing during the entire game; however, during commercials on NBC all commercials play perfect without interruption. Coincidence? I think not! It would be unfortunate to think Direct TV is purposely doing this (sabotaging the signal), so customers can upgrade to the NFL ticket programing so that you can pay more. Very disappointed that I missed the game, and frustrated everything else all channels and all commercials where uninterrupted, except for the game that I've been wanting to see. Do not get the Dish Satellite on roof. Taking the Satellite off is easy enough however removing brackets is not. Removing brackets can cause roof damage. If u are selling ur home the buyer or HOA might not want the brackets and u may have to repair roof at significant cost. Plus Direct always raising prices on long time customers. I called up Direct TV to cancel my contract with them. I was told that I would be charged an $80 cancellation fee. I said that was fine. A few days later, I received my bill online. They were now trying to charge me a $200 cancellation fee. I called Direct TV again, assuming that they would honor their word. I talked to a "manager". Instead of even addressing my concerns about being told one thing and then experiencing another, she kept going on and on about how I had signed a contract. I finally told her that she was not addressing my concerns and that I was reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and hung up. I have notified the BBB and am waiting to hear back. Additionally, they have tried to extend my contract on numerous occasions simply for upgrading my equipment and so forth. They are also trying to charge me for the months that my account was on suspension when I didn't need cable and was not using it. I will never do business with Direct TV again. They are dishonest and unethical. read more

We were DirecTV customers for over 5 years. We got tired of them always increasing the price of our monthly service and cancelled in February, 2019. I returned all of the equipment via UPS as they requested, told me all I had to do was bring it in and UPS would do the rest. Today, 6 months later, I find out they have a balance of $133 on my account for "unreturned" equipment and have turned it in for collection. I never got a phone call advising there was unreturned equipment, I never got an email advising there was unreturned equipment, I never got anything in the mail requesting additional equipment. They just sent to to collections and reported it on our credit report. This company was taken over by AT&T some time ago and I have never liked AT&T so that makes it all the more frustrating to me. When I called to find out what I "didn't" return they said they can't tell me because my account has been turned over for collections. So not liking that for an answer, I ask to speak to a supervisor. I am told that their call center is very busy and so they would have to have a supervisor call me back. I asked how long it would be, and they said I would received a call back within the hour. I guess I don't have to tell you I didn't receive a call back. I decided to "chat" with someone, but their chat was busy for about 45 minutes. I was working on other things on my computer, so I kept checking. Finally the Chat was available and I chated with a service rep named Shaina. I will admit she was quite helpful, she did some research and said (and I quote) "I really appreciate your patience with me. I double checked the details on the account and show that the status of the equipment you have returned is not yet reflecting on the account. The system is also not allowing us to look further as the account is now being handled by the Collections team." So if the "status of the equipment I returned is not yet reflecting on the account" how do they know what I didn't return or did return????? Finally she gave me the number to call to reach the collections department. I called and was given the same old story, they couldn't do anything about it as they said I didn't return a piece of equipment. Bottom line of the story, I received no satisfaction from this company and if I ever decided that streaming for TV wasn't enough, I would give up TV before I would ever go to DirecTV again. read more

If I can give this company 0 stars I most definitely would. I spent over an hour on the phone with them trying to discontinue my service. The 1st time I called someone hung up on me I had to call again and the person did not speak good English. When I called back finally this lady told me that I will be charged for services that I did not use. When I try to ask her to explain this she kept saying what was in the system even though I know we did not use their service says August of 2018. I had them for over a year and still got terrible customer service a but I did like the channels that I received however I would not be using his company ever again. I am so ready for our contract to be done! We have had nothing but trouble since the beginning. They installed the dish right next to the electric lines on our roof, then another tech had to come back out a couple of months later and re wire the whole house. It took us 4 months and a call from the presidents office to get the internet connection that was supposed to be done at install and have the $100 charge removed for it! Then at 1 year our bill doubled! After multiple calls we were told by an advanced solution expert, that the only discount they could give us is to cut our channels and paperless billing and take $10 off! Seriously??!! When I told him I could get internet and the same amount of channels I have from cox for what I am paying now locked in for 2 years he THREATENED me by telling me I was still in a contract and better not break it until October! I Agree with the last reviewer!!! Direct TV has the worst customer service department I think I have ever dealt with in the last 20 years! I am educated and been in the corporate world for the last 20 years. At the beginning of my services- (because of price) I was going to bundle all my all services. The Bundling department was HORRIBLE. After talking to 3 different reps....being hung-up on, talking to a Supervisor that could have cared less, five hours later and a few tears- I canceled my bundle. I called back the next day and canceled everything except the tv portion of the services (I REALLY wanted the DVR capability through-out the house). I really thought is was just the Bundling Department that was so horrible...but I was wrong. Ten days into my service and my DVR was having issues- recording only 1/2 my shows. So I called technical support. A gal answered and I explain the situation very politely...and there is no response back. Dead silence. All the sudden I say..." are you still there." She says "yes- please give me a chance to review your account." I said back to her " oh, I didn't know you were still there... you didn't say anything, I thought we were disconnected." With a condescending voice she states..."m-a-m, P-L-E-A-S-E allow me to review your account." WOW. The next five minutes on the call was horrible. I told her I needed to talk to someone else...so I hung up and called back. The next person was just as bad and blamed my DVR not recording several shows on AZ local broadcasting stations... that it was not Direct TV's fault. I couldn't believe it....I asked for a supervisor after he talked to me in a condescending voice and was rude...and he put me on hold until I finally hung up after 15 minutes. I am going to try to cancel my services before my 2- YEARS is locked in! Now I know why they do the 2-year contract. read more

Customer service said our account was no longer delinquent. About a year later we get a notice for collection for the amount we called in about. We received a kit to return all equipment to DirectTV through Fed Ex. We packaged everything up. Drove to the Fed Ex location at 1425 S. Alma School Dr. Mesa, AZ. They accepted package and gave us a confirmation number. We thought we were done. Packaged included 4 boxes, plus some other equipment. A few months after we received notification that some items were missing. We called to find out what the problem was. The customer service representative told us the issue was resolved and we did not need to worry about it any longer. That was a year ago at least. Now we get a notice that we are in collection for that amount. We returned everything and acted swiftly to resolve. We felt it was resolved and now we are getting notice about 1.5 years later! If the debt was legit I would pay it. We have no idea what happened to the equipment once handed over to a third party in Fed Ex. read more

Horrible service. Took a day and a half just to get signed up. Then was promised a $300 gift card by a supervisor and now 4 months later after never receiving the card as promised they say they have no record of this. They also lied to Costco as Costco had a $300 gift card offer and they lied to them and told them I was not eligible but after calling Directv personally they said I was eligible for the gift card. Will be canceling service and never going back again...be aware of false promises. read more

I do not have DirecTV installed yet, but so far the customer service I have received is extremely poor. Decided to get DirecTV due to an offer that DirecTV was running with Costco. I'm not going to go into detail here, but basically when you are a Costco member you get DirecTV rebates and discounts not available otherwise. I called a special number required to get the offer and ordered over the phone. I would do it on-line, but from what the info says, you must order it on the phone or at Costco to get the special deal. But also note then when you order on the phone as opposed to on-line, you pay an additional $20 "shipping and handling" fee. Also note the installer brings the equipment to your house, so what they are actually "shipping" I have no idea. So order on the phone, say I want the Costco offer, etc. A few hours later I get an "Order Confirmation" which contains the normal charges you would get for signing up, but NONE of the benefits of the Costco deal. What they did manage to include is 16 pages of every known fee or charge I might experience, in very fine detail, but any additional discounts are nowhere to be found. I called them up and they say I will at least get the rebate, but they have no way to tell me that in writing. As for the additional third year discount promised, even the sales rep admits that is no where to be found. I think this is bait-and-switch. They expect me to agree to all of their terms, but could care less about providing the benefits they are promising. If they can't be honest with customers early on, can you believe anything they say? read more

I feel this will fall on deaf ears with @Directv . As they have several 1 star reviews. Several things have happened since I signed up. My appointment was scheduled today (July 28th) between 8-12. No one showed up. I call and the associate advised me I changed my appointment with and automated system the day before. This was not true at all. I go to my call log. It shows I missed a call on Thursday from the same # I just called so now I know it is Directv. The day before I had no idea and no voicemail. I called today and the manager Cody said, "I rescheduled it by not answering the phone and confirming my appointment". I work who does that? I stayed home today for them not to show up HUGE convenience. They system rescheduled me for 8/1. I didn't ask for that day I asked for today. He kept just blaming me. With this being there error they should have accommodated today or at least tomorrow. I tried to call a few other people. No ANSWER, no help at ALL. VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more

Direct TV is unreliable. The very moment the weather is bad, especially during monsoon season, I get 771- Signal loss on either Satellite 1 or 2, consistently. Tonight I wanted to watch "Game of Thrones" and I can't because of the signal loss due to bad weather. This happans all the time and Direct TV will still charge you the same rate as though nothing happened. My guess is that they have done nothing to improve their product and they will continue to be an unreliable source of TV. TV should be reliable no matter what weather we have that day. read more

I would not sign up for Direct TV again if they were the only service provider on the planet. I had an issue with my HOA and tried for weeks to get it resolved through DirectTV. I was lied to and mislead from every Customer Service Rep I spoke to. No one knew what they were taking about or knew the policies of the company. First, DirecTV product is great. The HD channels as well as the content is great. Love it. What I don't love it the absolute incompetent people running the place. I am on my 3rd scheduled visit due to their screw ups the first 2 times. This is time away from work waiting around for them, and I am sick of it. If I could give 0 stars I would. The sales people totally misrepresent both the services and the cost and then you can no longer reach that person again. They told me I could bundle with Century Link and my service would be comparable or better than what I currently had. After putting up with the slowest ever internet service for a couple months, I called and they told me that high speed internet with their company was not available in my area of the city. The rate I'm being charged for the bundle is not bundled. It's two separate bills and the total is much higher than was represented to me. They tell me if I cancel before the two yr period I will have to pay over $400. They told me I would lose my AT&T free phone as well!! Direct TV/ AT&T scam... Let me tell you about the worst decision by switching to Direct TV to try to save money. What a HUGE mistake! First they lied to me about the package, price, offered me service that is not available in my area, spoke to 5 ghetto unprofessional people to confirm package which was not true, technician gets out here sloppy as hell looking, only installs TV not internet or phone as agreed, called back twice while tech was here only to be hung up on. Called back next morning to be put on hold for 20 mins and took 2 hours to get service cancelled. I would recommend this service to North Korea or my worst enemy! As much as I don't like Spectrum, they are still the best to choose from for cable and internet.  Horrible experience! read more

The actual TV service was good. Never had any major problems with the DVR or the TV going out. However, when I tried to schedule a cancellation because I am moving... the idiot cancelled my service immediately, even though I gave him a specific day. The next morning had to call to get service reinstated. The next idiot said it was all up and running...it wasn't. Had to spend another hour (HOUR) waiting for the next idiot to reinstate service. I demanded a credit. I got $50. The 1.5 hours that I spent working on this is worth far more than $50, but what can I say... there is no such thing as a good cable provider. read more

No Pac-12 network so I pay $100 a month or more than $1200 per year and I can not watch local sports.

December 28th, contacted Directv for service. After being transferred incompetently to 4 people in the wrong departments, we finally got an appointment for installation for Saturday December 29th 12-4 PM. We were told we would get a call from the install guy in the morning an hour prior to his coming to let us know an ETA. He never called. We called them and they said it was still during the 12-4 time and to wait. I also notified them that the address is hard to find and to look for the 3564 address number and we are behind it in 3562. We also notified them to call me as Gary's phone was not working. So they now had 2 phone numbers on the account and I as an authorized person on the account. At 4:15 we called again. I was told by a supervisor, Mr. Nestor, that a tech was never assigned! He apologized and stated the earliest he could have someone there was Wednesday morning 8-12. Again was told we would get a call an hour before they came. I still had not heard from them by 12:00. On January 2, another service appointment was scheduled. Again...no call or technician came to the house. We called and was told they could not find our house! We never got the call from the technician that he was coming in an hour, nor that he was in the neighborhood and could not find the house! No one called either of the numbers on the account saying they could not find our home. No one from Direct TV called. We have had numerous deliveries and services to this address in 8 years, never a previous issue. If they could not find us, why not call? We at this point do not believe it was assigned again. Otherwise why not call if you are here in our neighborhood? It does not make sense! For two separate days, we moved furniture and stayed home waiting for a technician. No call/no response. We were told that someone would call tonight for an installation tomorrow. It's now 8 PM, again no call. This is how Directv shows respect to a retired Veteran with 26 years of service. Great quality of TV, however that's not what you need to be aware of. Their pricing is effectively the worst I have EVER SEEN. I signed up not more than 1 year ago ($55/month), and my bill is now over $100/month! INSANE...I have called customer service just about every month and I get the same thing..."sorry, it is what it is...". Well, I am tired of it. I just called in again and they are more willing to cancel my service (with a $240 cancellation fee), than to make my bill affordable. I cannot believe their tactics when new customers. Typical bait and switch routine, but with contracts involved, so they can gouge you until you ARE BROKE. VERY disappointing. When I signed with Directv they went on about how they value their customers and if you're unhappy to give them a call and they'll make it right. They said they don't do what other companies do which is treat NEW customers BETTER than existing and LOYAL customers. Today I tired to move my service to the home I just purchased. They told me it would COST me $185 and change to move my service. They said it's usually $500 something, but they waive a bunch of stuff bringing it down to $185 and change. They said they couldn't lower that price any more, I was disconnected so I called back and started the conversation with someone else who said she could waive a bunch of fees and bring it down to $75 and change. She said that ALL new customers are charged this $500, but that it's waived, so you don't pay this when you start with Directv. SO NOW YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT A NEW CUSTOMER WILL GET TREATED BETTER THEN ME -- AND MY LOYALTY MEANS NOTHING. I have suspended my service and will be CANCELING once I'm settled in my new home. It's awful that Directv would treat a new customer better then an existing customer. So this $500 / $185 / $75 (whichever it is) is more important then keeping me and my monthly payments??? I'll be warning family and friends that Directv talks a good talk but will not back it up. read more

this company is a joke!!!!! they are bundled with century link. Prior to going to Washington on February 1st, I contacted Century Link and they put my acct on vacation hold. I pay my bill to Century Link. I have never paid a cent to Direct TV. So, I assumed that when I put my account on vacation hold, it would be for both internet, and television. I was gone for 3 months and was still charged for TV when I wasn't even here! They are saying that I should have called them before I left. DIRECTV is doing fraud... let me tell you how.. they told me they will cancel my previous cable company for me they made it sound legit so I was all for it gave them my information to my Account for dish well they called them and acted like me and changed my whole account and my address to be changed to other address so I would not get the bill or the phone calls about my bill thank god for my dish app I seen it and called right away asking why my address is being changed dish told me because you called and asked for it to be changed i had to go through hoops get my voice recorder to make sure I did not call and had this changed on my account... direct tv will not refund my money back... if you ever see these ppl in store run like hell here a picture to prove it I called directv ask why they are doing this and what they are doing is called fraud they laughed at me saying no this is not fraud it business so then I have to pay two bills if not it goes into Collection they said so they are not about there customers one bit so sad what they are doing read more

DIRECTV - Television Service Providers Near Me

Not a review for this location, but DirecTv in general. We thought we would save some money bundling with DirecTv and Century Link services. I checked the Century Link site and it said not available in our area. The DirecTv rep assured me it was available in our area. So I take time off of work for the install. CL would install sometime the next day. However, after I leave early from work, CL tech says he cannot connect internet in our area. I call DirecTv to cancel. They say they will send a package to mail DirecTv box back. So now, we have NO cable, NO internet. The old service (Cox) is disconnected. And, a worthless dish on the roof that DirecTv will neither take back nor uninstall. What a waste! What a useless company! Called Cox and a tech came out next day to reconnect, since DirecTv left our services a mess. I told them we were trying to save money, so they reduced our bill for 6 mos. I don't even want to give this company one star; I would give it about 100 negative stars if I could. They are the most incompetent, poorly run business I have EVER encountered. The dim-witted technician walked out of my house during the install because he was "upset" with me. I was not happy about having to sign a 2 year contract and I guess that was just too much for him Poor little man. They are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to contact. They repeatedly lied about having called me back. They didn't call me back when promised. WARNING: DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!! Put the word out!
