Dish service worker came out today to install the wiring for another room we wanted set up. He was quick fast friendly and made us super happy. He even helped us with the wiring of our TV that was all tangled. We have been happy with Dish so far. Had them for almost a year now. I have had DirecTV since mid 90's. I enjoy the quality but never the customer services... they treated you like thief and shit every time you called. It's a bit better now after losing significant business to Dish and local digital cables. Unfortunately, it continues to show arrogance... and consumer hostility. So I have been rotating among local cable, Dish, and Directv purely for cost saving and poor services.... so Directv will not be the sole beneficiary of my income. Recently I've signed up with Directv again and it's a bit disappointing on the service... as expected. But Devolution is the new name here.... a brand-new arena for Directv. The flagship feature of new Directv is Cinema Plus... just another name for on demand... unfortunately it is and proudly so a pathetic downgrade. It's trying to fool you or train you to get used to the future habit... downloading movies. So there are severely limited Primetime On Demand programs, comparing to its last version. Worst of its kind. And you have to "order" the On Demand programs... downloaded via your Internet. And there is a satellite dish out there.... Big Duh! I'm stuck with a 2-year contract, slightly cheaper monthly bill, and missing quite a few Primetime shows on CBC and ABC and CW and Fox and... So shoppers, shop smarter. read more

After multiple transfers and difficult to understand foreign support, I finally got a decent support rep on the phone to determine the wireless bridge was bad. She scheduled a tech to be on-site between 8 AM and 12 PM. I thought all was good but I should've known better since AT&T is involved. This is a vacation property where no one lives, so I took off work and drove 45 minutes to the property to stay there for four hours to wait for the tech who never showed and never called. I contacted multiple people at DIRECTV who said sometimes the techs don't call and sometimes the Robo calls don't work either. There seems to be no accountability here or care for customer service. They couldn't even tell me why the tech didn't show up. This is terrible business. If I had my choice I would cancel the service today. Scheduled another call between 8 AM and 12 PM for tomorrow but told them we refuse to drive out to the property until the tech calls that he is on his way. They told me that the tech may not call and if he shows up and we are not there, he will leave. Funny that they don't care if someone else drives 45 minutes each way and waits for four hours for a tech that never shows. Update - so as I figured? the tech never called the whole day regarding the 2nd appointment and we don't know if he ever showed up or not. We rescheduled a third appointment and made sure someone was here prior to the 8 AM to 12 PM time window and have sat here for almost 6 hours with no tech showing up. Spent over two hours on hold two different times for 3rd appointment today since the tech didn't show again!!! I was told by a supervisor after the no-show that the tech was running an hour and a half late and to wait. Waited two more hours and the tech still did not show!! Called again and after another hour on the phone to try to find out where the tech was, I was told he should be there by four (4 hours late). I waited until four and still a no-show so finally left at 4:10pm for an 8am to 12pm appointment and will be canceling service - what a joke and a bunch of jackasses. They can take all 5 TV boxes, the dish and shove it. I honestly believe no one can be worse than DirecTV. This service can only be rated zero stars. Will be contacting the BBB. At&T is the worst customer service EVER. The direct tv sales person lied about a contract. Lied about what channels. When you call in, they tell you over promise and never stand up to the promises. They tell you they will credit your account and dont. They will NEVER let you cancel until the end of your billing cycle. I have taken record of the calls i have made with times and dates. I tried to switch to Direct TV and they tried to pull a scam on me at the time of check out. At the time of checkout they were trying to add $199 one time fee to my bill. Coincidentally its the same amount you save when you sign up for new service with Direct TV. If it smells like a scam, if looks like a scam, it must be an offer from Direct TV. Needless to say I am staying with DISH. I thought they would have changed after they were purchased by ATT but I guess they haven't weeded out all the scams out of their systems. The worst customer service ever! I feel like ever since Directv switched to At&T the service has gone downhill. We have been customers for over 15yrs and I finally decided to upgrade our receivers. They scheduled the apptmt and twice they never showed up for the appointments.Called customer service which went to offshore ppl that you could hardly understand over their thick accent and they kept passing the call around. Direct tv required my dad to return expensive equipment , then sent it back to us! They said it was too old to accept and that they would not require us to pay the expensive 288 fee. Then they kept billing it to us and promised to cancel the bill. Never cancelled the bill . No representatives helped us. Worst company ever!! I sat on the phone line. Transferred over 10 times, talking to complete idiots. I just signed up for directv and the NFL package for my new business and this is my Sunday is my first day open and only have 1 game on. Spent 45 minutes, told by 1 representative that I had it and she had to transfer me to fix the console, then the transfer said I didn't. I told him to sign me up so I can run my business, and he transferred to an automated system that only deals with residential. So I had to start completely over. I was transferred to the business three times and the last person I talked with said the Directv was not open today, So basically I was being lied to by multiple people. I asked for Caesar's employee number because at this point I didn't believe anyone I was talking with and he refused to give me it, so really know that they were lying to me. I requested an upgrade and it was scheduled on the date of upgrade I stayed home to accommodate their window...no one showed! Once you are a customer they do not care about you. We pay almost $200 a month and they told us we would need to wait 9 DAYS for a tech to come service the outage. We kept the service for over 5 years for the NFL ticket so missing Sundays negates the point. Do they care? They repeatedly ignore the option of creating additional slots for techs who want to earn overtime. But if we were going to sign up for the service? According to the website, we could have a tech out here in 2 days! But since we're already signed up, they won't budge on the 9 days. I've been a DTV customer for about 6 months now. I really like the ability to record on one TV and watch anywhere that's connected - that's a really cool feature, IMO. What I HATE is their customer service! From the very beginning I was told I could download a DTV app to accommodate the 5th TV in my house. Never could get that to work and when the service guy came out to install I was told my account needed to be active for 24 hours so he wasn't able to help me. THEN....when they opened my account they made a typo on my name which affected my email address. Talk about a cluster trying to get that fixed....and actually it is still not. NOW....I had a power outage and the TV in my kitchen went out. Called and while this TV had been once connected with a mini box I was told they were unable to reconnect it and a service person would need to come out and for that pleasure I could pay either $99 or get on their service protection plan for $8.99/mo, which is the option I chose. Yesterday was my service date and lo and behold.....he's a "no show". I called to find out what was up and was told he tried to call me twice and got no answer. That was a lie - no missed calls and I purposely kept my phone by my side. After about an hour on the phone I asked to talk to a sup'v - got connected to Brian ID: BD520A. He told me a service person would be calling me within 30 minutes. Again a LIE - never happened. So I called again (this is call #3 now) and finally reached Andrew who suggested I hit the source button on my TV remote.....and it worked! Awful customer service. I called months ago, canceled my account paid off the remaining balance. Guy said everything was done. 2 months later I get an email saying my account is past due. I call them again and tell them I called/live chatted months ago and closed my account. Lady was kinda rude saying I never closed my account and that I have to pay them the $144. She then later said I owed the money for the equipment I still had.. I told her, that know one told me to return it. 10 min past, and her story changes saying that they actually don't need the equipment because it's old and they would just trash it anyway. I even live chatted them when I originally closed my account, and she said that that convo never existed.. overall my experience was awful with directv. They want your money!! All though the service was good, the customer service need a lot to be desirable. The one problem kept running into with these guys lately was they bumping my account to the $ 70 plan from $ 35 plan and I would email notice that was move up to the higher plan which I did not order. BEWARE OF THIS PRACTICE. I no problem the connection and video service only problem was this practice. Worst TV service ever! I had better service in 1979 with some alum foil and rabbit ears! Century Link is no better, we were suckered to the package, never received the $100 gift card, was told it would arrive 60-90 days after setting up autopay and the card never arrived, called again and was given excuse after excuse... The service itself is miserable, anytime it gets cloudy or storms we lose signal, we bought high speed internet, connect wirelessly at over 40mbs with the router approx 15' from the Direct tv receiver and 18' from the tv's wireless receiver both open air no walls, it does not work at all, we are unable to stream anything, have to rent movies multiple times to get them to play once then argue with a call center person. We cannot even rewind basic programs or live tv! When we attempted to find a solution the fix from Direct tv was that we needed to call century link and get faster internet! Once this contract is done we are moving to smart tv's and will never pay these fees again read more

Terrible customer service. We needed to replace an old satellite dish. They attached the satellite dish to a hand rail on the roof,, not mounted to the house the way the old one was. The installer said they have done this many times and assured us this would be fine. We checked it initially and a few days after and it looked ok. We are one day after the two week period and the hand rail is cracking the stucco due to the dish flexing in the wind, and they now say we have to pay $69 to come back out and reinstall the dish. We have been on hold speaking to multiple customer service people for an hour and a half. read more

There should be an option to leave 0 stars! We has DirectTV for a little over a year and the customer service was never great but it was sufficient. We cancelled due to moving out of state and are unable to have a satellite installed at our new house. We have made several attempts at contacting them to discuss having the early termination fees waived and each time we call we get a different excuse as to why the rep on the line can't waive them themselves. We then either get transferred to billing who doesn't answer and doesn't return voicemails or get placed in the supervisor queue with a promise for a call back that never comes. They are now threatening to send the account to collections because they can't be bothered to call back or simply get us on the line with someone who can discuss the issue with us. We planned to go back to directTV once we were able to get somewhere that we could have a satellite installed. However after this mess I will never use another AT&T product and will strongly recommend that people stay clear of DirectTV. read more

I am a current customer with DirecTV and originally bundled a package with CenturyLink. However, after a year was up, my bill went up. When I called to question why my bundling discounts were discontinued, I was given different answers by their reps. Retention gave me a 1yr $20 discount (per month). However, it started a month later. In addition, my $10 bundle discount (through CenturyLink) on Direct's bill disappeared. Direct said it was CenturyLink's discount. Still unsatisfied with DirectTv. Called CenturyLink this morning, and after 2 calls and being on the phone almost 1 hour with 4 departments (on hold for over 30 min), I still got no resolve. I finally went online to CenturyLink to chat with no resolve and only to be told to go to myaccount online for paperless billing to get my $10 discount. They switch you around to different departments in hopes to keep you on hold and then you'll hang up and go away. SHAME ON YOU DIRECTV AND CENTURYLINK FOR THESE TACTICS. EDUCATE YOUR PHONE PERSONNEL ON PROPER PROTOCOL AND HOW TO PROPERLY DIRECT CUSTOMERS TO THE CORRECT DEPARTMENT! GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! THESE TWO COMPANIES THAT OFFER BUNDLED PROGRAMS WILL BAIT AND SWITCH YOU AFTER YOUR FIRST YEAR IS UP, BUT WANT YOU TO SIGN A 2 YEAR AGREEMENT.
