I attended a poetry reading at DiPiazza's in Long Beach...kudos to DiPiazza's for opening their space to the literary arts which, historically, is not necessarily the most lucrative thing to do for a venue. The event was well attended (so extra kudos to the curators and Long Beach community for supporting literary arts with their work and presence!) DiPiazza's is a comfortable casual bar space with a stage on one side of the bar (so if you're not interested in the entertainment you don't have to awkwardly sit directly in front of it if you don't want.) I had a side of fries and a dinner salad (not too adventurous but wanted to eat lighter...there are other more hearty choices for vegetarians including pizzas, appetizers and pastas with extensive bar-food choices for those who don't have that dietary need. The side of fries was, maybe, the largest side of fries I'd ever received...I can usually down anything potato-based, no questions asked, but I barely made a dent in the fries and ate quite a lot of them. First timer here! The vibe here was chill. We could tell there were a lot of "regulars" but they all seem cool. The bartenders Carley/staff were awesome and very attentive. They were on it and always checking if we're good or needed anything. FOOD: pizza was really good and didn't wait too long for it. We wanted to check out the reggae band Massive McGregor and they were pretty good! We loved it that we'd come back on another Sunday to check it out. My only Minus is the DJ when the band is on break. Sorry Dj Dubmondo, take the hint when you're on and no one is dancing? Great space to hang out with a couple of friends or a bunch of friends! I've visited to watch their live bands and have also hosted a large group (20+ people) for an event. Their margarita pizzas, fries, and micheladas are delicious! I've heard their pepperoni chips are good too, but haven't tried them yet. Went with a couple people to support a friend's band. We got there early but we were only able to get bar seats, with no view of the stage. I guess we were lucky there was a TV monitor to see it. Personally, a floor plan remodel is in order, but that's just my opinion. While waiting we were served watered down drinks and French fries that were taken out of the frier too soon. Basically, it sucked. French fries are my thing. Mess that up, and well, you suck. Luckily, our friend's band played first and instead of staying, like we usually do at venues, we left. This place has been around since I was young, and it's still a hopping place for local talent and good food! The ambiance is that of your local dive, good food, good drink, and a stage that usually has something going on. My daughter wanted to go see some bands and support her friend, so I brought her since I myself hadn't been here in a good bit, but man am I glad I tagged along! The vibe is great, I got to thrash to some local bands which I haven't done in a good while, and I ordered their DiPiazzas Poor Boy Sandwich - it was everything I hoped it would be! One of my friends from S.P. Recommended this place a few years ago, she recommended the band "Split Vision" that are from San Pedro which performs here once in a while.DiPoazzas offers many events on certain days of the week. Open Mic, Karaoke, Trivia Nights many different Bands perform here every night. Many special events that are worth looking into check the website for present and future events. When we come here we enjoy the drinks and the good food they serve here. You do have to order your drinks at the Bar, which I prefer so we are served the drinks we actually order. The Vibe here is awesome, the noise level is loud, the food is good, and the price is right. Plenty of street parking. You will encounter some strange people. I went to DiPiazza's to hear John Surge and James Intveld and I had their Ten Inch Pepperoni Pizza. I didn't really mind the cover charge as the band's need to be paid something for their time and effort. However I thought that some of the sandwiches, sides such as french fries and desserts appeared to be overpriced. The piazza was quite good. Definitely better than Costco pizza and almost, but not quite as good as Shakey's Pizza. I consider it good enough to worth the diarrhea that took place afterwards. Men's washroom was small but I am glad it had paper towels available. I noticed that at least some of not all of the guys working at DiPiazza's failed to tuck their shirts in. I consider that unprofessional and am deducting one point for that. If the rating was translated to a letter grade like school teachers give, DiPiazza's would get a solid "B". read more

I love the atmosphere and the great live entertainment there. However, I was approached by an very eccentric older woman (named Tiffiney Havens) whom tried to sell drugs and Mushrooms to me on there while I was outside. She also had passed out drugs to some of the younger adults hanging outside. These young people were wasted too. This behavior was like a "Drug Dealer" giving people dope FREE so that you can come to them again to pay in the future. Please know that the place operates smoothly without her presence. read more

Recently ordered a late night pizza take out. I think it was like 10:30 pm and looking pizza that isn't one of the big chains was very limited. DiPiazza was open and taking orders. Placed the online order and went for pick-up. Upon arrival I remember I had been there once before, probably 15+ years ago, I went with some friends to see a band. The band playing that night and the inside of the restaurant brought back that long forgotten memory. Anyway, I get my pizza and head home, smelling that lovely pesto all the way home. Let me tell you, the pizza tasted as good as it smelt. My wife and I loved it. She asked where I got it, and I told her about the live music, and her first reaction was that she wanted to go next kid free night we had. I look forward to going back! Went here for Reggae Sunday Went here for Reggae Sunday 02.18.2024. This was an eventbrite booking. Jamming to some Reggae at the same time munching on some snacks and drinking adult beverages. The bartenders had a full house but was still able to attend to us, which was very much appreciated. Through out the evening, we we were attended. Someone always seem to check on us. This is a great sports bar disguised as a local pizzeria, and I'm here for it! Located down the street from CSULB is a cozy establishment to catch a game or up with a friend. The Live music is what differentiates this pizza spot from others in the area. There are nice size TVs everywhere so you can literally sit anywhere and enjoy the latest game. The bathrooms have a nice "sticky" touch ;). My bartender was warm and friendly in my entire transaction; and even went to great lengths to ensure I had a great time. Go for the vibe, drinks, and music. Food was hit and miss. Had pepperoni pizza and it was definitely what I expected bar food to be like. Kind of skimmed on the pepperoni. Wasn't very warm almost cold so much so the cheese was already hardening. But, the next table over had a delicious looking pizza. I could not understand it. I tried to get someone's attention, but they were so busy I couldn't. The band that night was Quinto Sol. That was the highlight of the visit. But, had I not ordered pizza, I'd been totally happy with the night. Great crowd of diverse people. Ample parking in the lot behind the bar. Restrooms were well kept and drinks were good. Worst customer service I've experienced in a while. Loved this place when we first walked in - thought we'd found a cool, new spot - but after the waiter we had, we will not be returning. I took my wife to DiPiazza's last night for a date night before she was going out of town for work. We were going to a storytelling event put on by the LB Community Theater. The side of the restaurant where the show was happening was full, besides a couple of bar seats. We didn't mind sitting at the bar, but it was a little crowded and the "standing room" was around where we were sitting. The other side of the bar was empty, so we asked our first waiter if they were playing the show on the TV on that side. He said yes, we could watch it from that side. So we moved our stuff and our food and sat right in front of the TV where the show was playing. A few minutes later, another waiter (didn't catch his name - older man with a mustache) came over and changed the TV we were watching to a basketball game. We were confused as everyone on our side of the restaurant appeared to be at least somewhat watching the show. From our seats, the TV was the only view we had of the show. Apparently, the only male customer on our side was a "regular", and wanted the game on. By the way, the "regular" was in the corner where he could see the live show as well as multiple TV screens - and every time we looked, he was watching the show. But I guess he wanted to be able to check the score of the game and that was the most important thing. We politely explained to the waiter that we had come (and paid) to see the storytelling show, and that we were told by their staff we could watch it from this TV. He went back and forth with us for a while, getting a little belligerent. He was very worked up, laughing and walking back and forth to point out the other side of the restaurant - he was arguing that we must not care about seeing the show because we had moved to the other side of the bar? It was truly bizarre. We tried to explain that we wanted more space and were told we could watch it from here, but he didn't seem able to connect the dots. I will also say that we were among some of the only LGBT and Black customers in a restaurant full of straight, white people. I would hope that that is not why we were treated so rudely, but it did cross our minds. At this point, we had already spent $85 between the tickets and our food; we just requested our food to go. The manager did ask us what happened because we did not tip, and we told her. She was very nice, but seemed to imply this was not the first time this had happened with this employee. She knew exactly who we were talking about before we even pointed him out. I do not understand why for-profit businesses hire people like that, especially when there are so many people in this city looking for min wage entry level jobs. A disgruntled man with no manners or people skills does not belong in a customer service role. We will be sticking with the many other restaurants in LB that value professionalism. read more

First time serving a table for Sunday show, you must purchase $40 with of tickets to be able to serve a table. The positive of serving a table is convient bec.
