Diosa is undeniably fancy right from the start. It's amusing to stumble upon such elegance in a simple parking lot neighborhood next to an AT&T store. The velvet and black glamour walls set the tone. As soon as you step inside, the ambiance transforms into something truly beautiful, with black and white accents. It's certainly a place to dress up and celebrate. Their drink menu is impressive! Our party of 8 enjoyed every drink. I highly recommend the margarita flight at $37 instead of buying single drinks, as it's worth $20. Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat due to the kitchen being extremely slow. Although we were seated at 7:45, we didn't receive appetizers until 9:30. By that point, we were pretty much finished with drinking and eating. The Managar, Michael, was extremely apologetic and made up for the lost time by offering our table dessert - churro/ice cream, which they make in front of you. Would I go again? Most likely just for drinks and to hang out. The prices were a bit steep, It's definitely an Instagram-worthy spot that's been overhyped. read more

I knew this place was special as I walked through the beautiful doors and approached the counter. I was immediately greeted by the lovely host Nastashia who was more than willing to recommend a few dishes that we ended up trying. The street corn appetizer was incredible. Our server, David was awesome as well as he constantly checked on us and made sure we never went thirsty. We had the margarita flight which came in with a variety of drinks that was big enough for my wife and I to share. We ended up ordering carnitas which was recommended by David and Nastasha and were so happy about it. They were to die for. Definitely coming back! This place was amazing. read more

I researched Diosa before I met out of town guests whose clients insisted we meet there as it was conveniently located across from his hotel. Diosa. A female god.. a god she is not. The restaurant's is beautiful, empty but pretty. Too bad, it lacks good service, good food and tasteful music! Our used plates and glasses weren't cleared unless we asked. The waiter brought out dessert while the old stale guacamole dip sat on our table. Where were the bus boys/girls? The drinks took forever and were extremely watered down. The waiters were clueless and not engaging, knew nothing about the menu. And they were missing half the time. The loud blaring music was so annoying.!! Is this a Mexican restaurant or a reggaeton concert? I've seen comparisons to Javier's in other Yelp reviews: WRONG, NOT. Do not compare this restaurant to Javier's. That's an insult. Figured we would try out Diosa, despite the mixed reviews and I understand why the restaurant is a hit or a miss. All restaurants in the beginning would have it's ups or downs, so it is to be expected. The apps We started with the the lobster/scallop ceviche and ahi tuna ceviche. To start off the seafood was very fresh! Both these options came with a sort of round nacho type of chip. I would of loved to of seen a wonton chip be included with the ahi tuna instead, but it was the same chip as the lobster ceviche. The beverages My beloved went with the margarita flight while I went with the water element Santorini. Both had good flavor, unfortunately it seemed as tho we ordered a mocktail. For the price if you could put in a little more booze. The mains We decided to go with a para la mesa plates "to share" Fetuchini Del Mar. Portion was perfect for two and sauce was delicious I was scooping it with the provided bread sticks. But unfortunately it was not all good. The not so good things food was cold and the fascination of the cheese wheel was just that. The flavor was not enhanced by the inclusion of the tossing of the noodles. The verdicts I will give Diosa sometime to see how things get adjusted as my first impression of it are mixed. For the price point this restaurant is playing in they do need to step it up. read more

The food at DIOSA is over-priced and mediocre tasting, at best. Downey is already saturated with less than average Mexican restaurants. We need ones that are affordable and have healthy, delicious food. It's a shame because it's a beautiful restaurant. I really did enjoy the decor. Came to celebrate my mom today, made a reservation for 8 at 8:30. We came in early with an additional person, we were understanding to the need to wait a little bit longer to adjust to our party. However we wait ONE hour more to be seated with a table set up for 8 people not 9. One of the hostess was really sweet and attempted to accommodate us while the other hostess was really rude and mentioned that we were a party of 8 when asking for another table setting. When we had waited for an hour past our reservation for a table for 9. Server was attentive! Food came out quick and really good! Presentation of my main course was amazing, but the Cameron's al la Diabla was salty to the point I could not eat my dinner. Everyone else that order the Cameron's al la diabla, did not eat them either. When I complained the server said sorry, I told Chef already and was not offered something else ,so no dinner for me and the other staff that ordered the Cameron's a ma Diabla. This is a really nice place. Nice decor, ambience and energy from the friendly staff. My wife and I came to celebrate our 12 year anniversary. I wish I would've thought this through a little more though. The drinks were good. I had a vintage fashion which I really liked. The name DIOSA was actually in the block of ice that came with the drink. Nice little detail. The wife got the honey drip margarita which was delicious. The steak empanada appetizers were the star of the show for me. It was light, flaky and it had nice size chunks of steak inside. The crema and aioli that came on the side was smackin too! I ordered the lobster ceviche. For the main entree I ordered the fetuchini Del Mar. This is where it started going down hill for me. My wife ordered the pollo Al pastor which was juicy and seasoned well. The tortillas tasted like Guerrero tortillas from the store. Not the worse but not what you would expect. My wife got her dish at least 25 mins before mine. When it finally came out I had lost my appetite. The lobster was undercooked. I had to work pretty hard to scrape it out of the shell. The shrimp, muscles and clams were actually really good but they went way overboard with the seasoning. I think it's the salsa macha that might've been over the top along side the aged Parmesan which I loved. I later found out it was supposed to be served with garlic bread that I never received. For the price you pay you would just expect more. Even though we enjoyed ourselves we were left disappointed. Lot of highs and lows in this dining experience. Some of the details that were left out seemed to be careless mistakes. I'm so sad to have to write this review. I was so looking forward to going to Diosa and bringing my mother here for Mother's Day. I made a reservation for a large party weeks ago. When we arrived 10 minutes early the place was packed, so I was glad we were checked in and ready to be seated at our reservation time. Fifteen minutes after our reservation time, we noticed countless parties were being seated ahead of us. When I went to make sure they hadn't missed us they said it would be at least another 15 minutes before we could be seated. I was frustrated because I had made a reservation to avoid this type of wait. After prodding them a second time, they said that we were difficult to seat quickly because we were a large party. That makes no sense. If you have a reservation, your place should be reserved. There's no point in reserving if we're being admitted in the same way you'd admit a walk-in. To make matters worse, the hostess was extremely rude to us after we expressed our frustration. When she finally did seat us, she didn't say a single word to us. Put down our menus and just walked away. Oof. I was pissed. No apologies, no offer for a free appetizer, no nothing. Some of the worst hostess service I've ever experienced. Listen, I'll put up with that behavior at a cheap place, but this restaurant is charging elevated, almost fine dining prices, your front of house has to meet that standard. This woman DID NOT. We were also seated in a part of the restaurant that was dark and didn't have as nice of an ambiance as the rest of the restaurant. Disappointing. Luckily, we were greeted by a lovely waitress and support wait staff. One of these stars belongs to her. She was kind, apologetic, and understanding. I wish that was it, but sadly, we proceeded to wait another hour and a half for our entrees. We didn't eat until two hours AFTER our initial reservation. It was insane. The kitchen was horribly backed up and it was clear to me at this point that these reservations were poorly managed and overbooked. A horrible thing to do when folks are coming in to celebrate a special occasion because you end up ruining that occasion with a poor experience. We're paying good money to have a great experience, and by the end you're forced to pay a lot of money for a mediocre experience. Huge hospitality fail. The food, thankfully, was good. Thank goodness. The drinks were as well. Again, thank goodness. The chefs get that second star I've put in here. Unfortunately, there was no offer to comp anything, no offer for free dessert. Nothing to make up for everything. I don't blame the wait staff for this because they probably aren't approved to do this for some reason. My husband had to ask them to comp something and they comp'd two drinks for "Mother's Day" - I guess not the inconvenience? - according to management. Smh They've sadly lost recurring customers who would have returned again and again if we'd had a better overall experience. This is a restaurant so we go to eat really good food. I don't think the appearance of a place should matter just as long they pass the inspections and it's clean inside out. I should've had street tacos instead of going here. The food did not match the aesthetics of this place. As an appetizer I ordered lobster and scallop ceviche. It had so much lime. There was no flavor to it. I also had the cast iron carnitas. What a big disappointment. About 1/3 of the plate was cover with dry carnitas. You can tell the waiters and servers had no experience. It was either that or they didn't care about the job which is worse. Seven of us went. I sat pretty much in the middle and when it came to giving me my heavy plate why did the waiter stand on one end of the table and slowly try to place the plate down in front of me. I saw him struggling so I carried it and place it down. Why didn't he say, "I'm standing right behind you and will be placing the plate in front of you." A couple of my friends asked the server questions about the menu items and he/her usually stated, "They serve it with....", "They have the..." it says a lot about a company when employees don't feel valued or appreciated because they didn't include themselves in those statements. read more

Different from what I expected, but in a good way, had a very decent large menu selection, which I did appreciate the food was definitely more on the pricey side, but the taste was good the drinks I love the presentation definitely Instagram worthy but a little bit Sweet , and I'm not a big fan of sweet drinks because they give me headaches . The service was amazing. Our host made sure we had a great experience and everything we need while we were visiting. He checked on us multiple times without asking for anything and even when they made a slight mistake he had no problem fixing it for free of cost. the ambience is definitely amazing, the decor, the set up everything absolutely beautiful. I wish I could've had a whole photo shoot I was able to get a few pictures in but not as much as I would like to, so I definitely have to go back to try more food, and the desserts and get more pictures and, my overall experience and I will give it a eight out of 10 only because like I said it's a very pricey Place like for my pasta was $130 and then the drinks been $20 an up if you do the math at the end the bill was pretty pricey, but a good overall experience I will be back. read more

I absolutely loved this place! The ambiance is gorgeous! I came with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. The service was great, they were very attentive. My food was delicious. I ordered the chicken al pastor plate, the chicken was cooked perfectly. It had a little spice that I wasn't expecting but loved, it was served with pineapple, cauliflower, rice, beans and tortillas. My drink was nicely made and so pretty (mariposa). They also gave me complimentary churro ice cream for my birthday. If you order water they do charge for it. FIRST & LAST for me. Had reservations for 8:45 didn't get to our table until 9: 15ish , i asked the girl upfront and kept saying they were just cleaning the table (mind you the restaurant wasn't not packed at all). Got seated and waited another 25 minutes for appetizers ONLY. They most likely charge you for the presentation and aesthetic of the food because to be sincerely honest it was not good. Don't even get me started with the valet parking situation. Parked on the side and as I was walking in the valet driver says I can't park on the last row away from the restaurant because that's the other businesses parking there was not sign stating that. So I told the guys fine I'll do valet my car is the black one parked over there. I realized it was time to pay I had left my wallet in my car so I asked the valet man if I could have my keys to get my wallet and HE DID NOT GIVE ME MY KEYS, he told me he could open the car from a distance. The atmosphere that they have is great for a girl night out, date nights, or any celebration. We went during brunch time and we had an amazing time the drinks were delectable and the food was delightful. Came to celebrate my mother's bday and reserved for a party of 10 . Our server was good and we did like him but he just couldn't deliver the best service . And that was because We noticed that we were the biggest party and the restaurant did have about 6other smaller tables and another party but yet we only seen that one server for everyone. It was so frustrating to ask for anything because it would just take to long to find him . We arrived at 3:30 it took about 25min just to get drinks and then about 45 more minutes to get the food.... The food was also just not the best tasting . The mar and Tierra fish was too fishy and overcooked and the mashed potatoes croquette was so odd , not appeasing at all . The ribeye was way too chewy , I could barely cut it and did not pair well with the spicy mashed potatoes . The fajitas meat were overly seasoned , way too charred and salty .The drinks, those were ok. At the moment to ask for the check ,our waiter was no where to be seen so we waved to get someone's attention and all the girls in pink who work there deliberately turned around to not see us to help ,really was upsetting for all of us to see that . Overall, my family left disappointed with the restaurant. We had looked forward to it to celebrate something so meaningful to us and this restaurant just did not deliver . Finally a restaurant comparable to 555 East, Tantalum, Catch LA, or Maestros minus the long drive. Drinks were pricey but well made. I had the vintage old fashioned and the other smoked drink with tequila & mezcal. Appetizers - we tried the steak empanada which was terrible, if you want that go to Gaucho Grille. Entrees -Wife had salmon and I had the octopus, both were perfectly cooked and good portions. Octopus was spicy but very good. Worth the price and comparable to any other trendy place in LA. Ordered a side of poblano mash potatoes which was spicy as hell. *they should annotate spicy food on the menu Service - was superb from 7:15pm to 9pm. Past 9pm it got hella packed and our waitress was MIA. Took 30 min to get a drink where before 9pm it was 5-10 min. Check took forever. Come before 9 if you want service comparable to the price tag.
