As someone who wears size 13 shoes (or a size 14, depending on the brand), the selection in most…read morestores just won't cut it for me. Although I try to find dress shoes or sneakers elsewhere, I almost always include a stop at a DSW. That's partly because of this particular branch's distance to me, but also because the selection here is slightly better than going to a department store like Burlington where, while you do save more money, the assortment of shoes they carry is average and the condition of those available varies. Speaking specifically of men's shoes, this particular branch is heavy on oxfords (good) and boat shoes (...eh). The brands carried are consistent; you will definitely find Stacy Adams, Aldo, Cole Haan, Rockport, Steve Madden, Giorgio Brutini, Skechers, and Dockers; a few pairs from Florsheim and Aston Grey can be seen every now and then, too. As the seasons change, so does the selection. One service I enjoy is the online-to-store delivery. If what I want is not at this branch, I find what I like online and just have it shipped here. It's convenient and safe. The staff here is consistently friendly and always willing to give you the latest promo codes and monthly discounts whenever they're available. DSW is not necessarily my go-to spot for shoes, but I can always rely on them for my routine shoe needs.

I've been to Nordstrom Rack a bunch of times and have never purchased anything. The concept is…read moresimple, stuff that didn't sell at their upscale counterpart are shipped here to be sold at deep discounts. The problem is in the execution. Less than 10% of their inventory has ever seen the inside of a Nordstrom department store. The other 90+ percent is crap that's either make specifically for them or close outs from brands that Nordstrom doesn't carry. Want proof? There are more Rack stores than department stores. Way more. Trading on one's name and reputation isn't a new concept. But in the end it serves to dilute their brand. Someone who goes to Short Hills willing to spend $500 on a pair of shoes is unlikely to show up at a Rack store looking to purchase the same. No so of a Rack customer who pays $75 and assumes that they're getting a bargain. They're not. Can't really recommend shopping there. It's a pity because it's a 5 minute clerics from home. Oh and same story at Off Fifth a few miles down the road.

I have to say I am FURIOUS with the way things have been handled here. I ordered a pair of shoes…read moreonline for a photo shoot close to 2 weeks ago. They arrived and were incredibly small (even when purchasing them in a larger size as the site directed me to). So, I sent them back for an exchange. I received an email (no reasoning either) stating that I was being refunded for LESS than the amount of the shoes and shipping combined. They didn't attempt to contact me at all. When I called, they stated that they had none of the shoes left in any color in the size I had asked for. Why was it so hard for them to write that in the email? (bye bye star #1) So, I went online to see what they had that would be comparable. They had the exact same shoe in a fabric instead of leather. Why didn't the salesperson suggest this to me on the phone? Did they give a cuss about making a sale? No! (bye bye star #2) So, I call to ask them to simply exchange the shoe I returned for that one (which they had in the size I needed). They said they would, and the gentleman on the phone also said that he would refund me the shipping charge back to my account because it was an exchange. This NEVER HAPPENED. (bye bye star #3) This is when it got ugly. It was now a full week later, and I still had not received the shoes. They didn't send me any tracking information at all. When I called to tell them that the shoes were useless to me by now, they told me that there was nothing they could do about the missing shoes because they had been signed for. "I didn't sign for them, my delivery man didn't sign for them.. where the cuss were these shoes? And, what the hell do you mean, there's nothing you can do about them? Don't you have insurance?" "I'm sorry mam, but we don't take out insurance on anything under $500". (bye bye star #4). If it was possible to give them 0 stars, I would. The last star went away in my eyes when she left the phone to talk to a supervisor who told her that they could take things up with UPS and POSSIBLY get me a fraction of my money back. So, no matter what, I was paying for this mistake. They obviously didn't want my business from the get go. I should have stopped dealing with them from the moment they were out of the first shoe I needed. I cannot believe I am eating the full cost of a pair of shoes because I was stupid enough to trust a shoe company like Footnotes.
