Bubble milk tea with grass jelly
    Sarah T.

Under $5 for 16 oz milk tea with boba and grass jelly? Unheard of in the States! This was my first bubble tea stop in the BC and I ordered regular ice but couldn't taste the tea in this drink. The grass jelly was good and pearls were nice n chewy though.

A new spot for the all famous bubble tea, and no less another Taiwan franchise and the first in Vancouver. I see a trend here, but to open it up around my hood, where this is really a stone's throw away. Not opening up in the heart of the city, but the outskirts is a bold move and I hope they gain traction with the locals as the go to spot as there are not many BBT shops in the neighbourhood, and the biggest 'chain-like' drink spot is on Hastings... so nice and far. So I came during their soft-opening yesterday, and yes it was packed, line up out the door but at the same time pleasant to deal with. Standard setup, you go in, the menu is listed right on the wall, pick your drink, and order right at the front. I like the setup as you see the drink order being entered, including any additions like their special golden pearl (which they ran out of due to high demand). We did wait a while, but you have to expect that with a first day opening. They were however very considerate and apologized as they tracked us down and asked us what we wanted to substitute to. The order we chose was the regular milk tea (0% sweetness - as I thought we were getting pearls) and the addition of golden pearls (which were now substituted to crystal boba and grass jelly). We did eventually receive our order and it was very clean tasting, practically what we expected when ordering. The one thing I found was that the drink was very thin, in terms of very liquid, not as thick as others which was different. The crystal boba they were using are made from agar jelly and had a lot more texture than regular tapioca pearls, something I wouldn't have tried if they didn't run out of my first choice, the grass jelly was standard but always a good second alternative to regular pearls. They are still working through the kinks but seeing as this neighbourhood is really growing with more and more condos, and there is a T&T supermarket across the street it is set up for a lot of foot traffic as long as you know where it is. I will be back and hopefully have a chance to try my original order as it should have been, with their golden pearls. Staff is friendly, parking along the street, nice area to sit inside with it's minimalist design. Hoping to see you around soon.

I never thought about how long it took for a bubble tea franchise to arrive in this area. Ding Tea nicely fills that niche in this area and gives a decent option for people looking to get their bubble tea fix. Tried out the passion fruit green tea. I accidentally got an upgrade to their golden pearls so that was nice. Tea was pretty delicious and tasty. Liked how much passion fruit I could taste and what not. The golden pearls were a bit different from normal pearls. Didn't have the same kind of taste but it was similar in a way? A bit more fruity I suppose is the different. I liked that they were a bit more chewy as well. Small sample size but I liked my first visit to Ding Tea. Will hopefully be back soon to try out other options.

My bf decided to redeem himself with a bubble tea delivery. I complained to him the last time he got me a drink from Gong Cha and ended up getting the EXACT same drink I got before and told him I hated. We've tried Ding Tea a while back when they first opened and he decided to pick some up. He commented the two gentlemen in the store were really friendly. He ordered a Hokkaido Milk Tea, Matcha Red Bean, and Matcha Milk Tea/Latte? I didn't try his Hokkaido milk tea, but he commented that it tasted like coffee. My mom had no complaints about her matcha red bean drink though I think the portion of liquid to topping is off (refer to photo). I think it could've done with less topping. My matcha milk tea/latte was quite refreshing. It won't be my favourite, but definitely not the worst. Their version of pearls were chewy with a very subtle hint of sweetness. I would've preferred slightly sweeter pearls. My bf did a great job with this bubble tea delivery even though he forgot to give them my stamp card. I admit, I'm picky when it comes to bubble tea.

I love bubble tea, and was excited that there was a new bubble tea option in the area aside from Chatime. Having had Ding Tea in several countries in Asia my expectations were a bit high. They had their grand opening weekend where each day they have a BOGO predetermined drink and the first 100 customers received it in glass bottles. On Sunday it was taro milk tea with golden pearls. For their opening weekend we expected it to be a bit slower as they are new, but they opened late 20minutes late with a huge line outside, and we waited from 11-1230 to order and receive our drinks... I'm a big fan of the brown sugar pearl milk drinks and was excited to try the bobo monster latte, however was told that they were not making these pearls as they were spending their time making the golden pearls for the free taro drinks instead. Considering it's one of their top ten drinks I was pretty disappointed and had to choose a backup drink of passionfruit green tea. We also decided to try to pudding milk tea, and kumquat lemon ice tea drinks. The golden pearls are a by chewier but had no flavour and taro milk tea was the purple powder kind, but it was so watered down and tasteless - really disappointing. The passionfruit green tea was decent and comparable to other bbt shops. The pudding milk tea again was a bit watered down and needed more milk tea flavour, and the kumquat lemon ice tea was not bad except that it's a little savoury as it has a preserved Chinese plum in it. It was a bit weird at first but grows on you. Probably won't order it again though as the salt made it less refreshing. Given that it was the opening weekend, the staff were slow but friendly, and the drinks were subpar so I will chalk this up to newness. I'll wait a month or so to go back to try the brown sugar pearl drink I originally wanted, and hopefully things will have improved by then.

We were in the area and stopped by for bubble tea after dinner. I ordered the Hokkaido Smoothie in the regular size. I liked how they offer two size options so that I can get a smaller drink. The smoothie consisted of crushed ice mixed into the milk tea and was more of a slush texture. The downside is that I was left with a bit of crushed ice in the end after I finished drinking the milk tea portion. I preferred the regular milk teas more than the slush texture. I ordered my drink with 30% sugar and found the drink still on the sweeter side. The Hokkaido milk tea tasted like milk tea with a hint of caramel and was almost coffee candy like. Bubble tea shop had a decent amount of seating. Ambience is modern. Restroom was clean although it did not have a change table in case you need it for the babies. Prices for the drinks are reasonable.

My first time at Ding Tea and I was a bit wary given the 3.5 start rating, and the pearls in my drink being a medium brown colour rather than the standard black colour. Surprisingly, I was impressed by their Pearl Milk Tea! I got my drink with 50% sugar and no ice, and the milk tea was creamy without drowning out the flavour of the tea. The lighter coloured pearls were actually some of the most delicious pearls I have ever had. They were sweet and chewy, and tasted like bits of brown sugary heaven. I'm looking forward to trying their Hokkaido milk tea next!

I dont understand the slogan at all but they have good drink and that's all that matters

So...I can't stop going to bbt places. Help. I like the interior of this place. Clean and modern, I felt so darn relaxed! I ordered the grapefruit green tea with golden pearls. It tasted like a body wash but in a good way! There was sweet grapefruit pulp floating within the drink too, what an adventure! The pearls were sweet and chewy, yum yum. I am a fan. One star off though because they didn't have black boba available. That is an integral, og aspect of a bbt store.

hokkaido milk tea with red bean & crystal boba (large $5.00 +$0.50+$0.60) and colourful mango green tea (large $5.30)
    Tiffany L.

The tea flavour in the hokkaido milk tea was quite strong but not overpowering. Enjoyed it a lot! The colourful mango green tea comes with colourful jelly already so you don't have to add more add-ons. Really refreshing!

For those who need to know what's on that top 10 menu!!

Thank god a legit BBT place opened up nearby. They have a points systen, plenty of a variety of seating spaces , two darts games, a big table (not sure if you're allowed to bring a game there...) and if you get munchy you can always migrate over to t and t. Mostly milk and tea selections; in more a fruit smoothie person, and they definitely don't do mix and match fruit smoothies here. Still hits the fix tho.

Ding Tea is fairly new to the Vancouver bubble tea scene. We have been here on several occasions and we enjoy their bubble tea. The first two occasions weren't the best as the waits were long - but this was due to it newly opening and everyone wanted to check it out. However, subsequent visits were good. They were not overly busy the times we went and got our drinks in normal waiting times. We tried their fruit teas and milk teas.. and like them all! My favourite is their Hokkaido Milk Tea, which I have gotten on at least 3 occasions. Their pearls are decently good too, which they make in-house. The location itself is very central with street parking. The interior is clean and modern looking, with tables and a couch. Worth checking out if you're in the area!

I was so excited to try this new bubble tea shop just opened across from Refrew T&T. The shop was nicely decorated and the staff was very friendly. There are a lot of seatings inside. However, I did not like my drinks. The Aloe Kiwi was way way too sweet though we ordered half sweet already and the Hokkaido Milk tea lacked in flavour . I did not get to try their Monster Boba (Brown Sugar drink); they only make it from 1-2pm. And as a fan of brown sugar drink, I would go back to try it, but not for these drinks ‍.

The crystal pearls tastes like chemicals and the drinks were too sweet even with 0% sugar. They have a long way to go.

Selections are decent. however the menu is very confusing as they have a posted menu online, a digital menu via QR code and some posted menus. Unfortunately the menus were not in sync. My friend saw a couple of things she wanted to try from the online menu and was told they do not have those items. There are combo on the spot which are not their online menu and the digital menu. We ordered the chicken panini, a small mango bingsu and an order of tue mochi bubble waffle and taro milk tea. The food is very good. there is decent amount of ingredients in the chicken panini (which i forgot to take a picture of). The mochi bubble waffle was decent and i liked the taro milk tea as well. The bingsu was very well made but the price is a bit on the high end given the size. Overall service was good too

Located on the same block as quite a few other popular HK dessert spots, I more inclined to go to Rose Cafe because it's quieter and a more comfortable environment to relax and sit around in. The boss mentioned they can make anything for us (!) including ginger milk, the sago desserts and that they event have the pistachio paste (yum!). For a quick dessert run - I opted for the small mango shaved iced, it's served with nice and ripe mango chunks, and a fresh mango shaved ice base. For just about $10 it's worth the dessert stop! They had a nice menu of several classic HK items - from deep fried chicken wings, to bubble waffles to pearl based drinks that only HK locals would order. Worth a try if and when you're in the Nanaimo / Kingsway area! Also (!) - very reasonably priced flowers and potted plants!!!

I personally tried the cheese foam black tea with mochi and golden pearls which costed close to 10CAD. The cheese foam was slightly salty and pretty creamy, and the taste is much more pronounced when you dip the plain mochi into the drink. The mochi itself was slightly soft though a bit uneven in texture as some parts are chewy and some parts are already a little bit dry. I do like they nicely wrapped the mochi in a plastic bag to preserve the moisture, though I ended up trying it out immediately to get the maximum freshness. The tea itself is flavorful and not too sweet, which is what I intended because I opted for light sugar (30%). The golden pearls were pretty chewy and are the right preferred texture. While I liked the general quality of the drinks, like other reviews mentioned, the price of the drinks are a bit on the higher end but the quality did not really scale up compared to a good boba spot.
