My wife is a vegetarian so she loves the vegan chicken dishes here (not because they taste anything like chicken). I like some of their more traditional Chinese dishes too. Definitely a solid spot to get takeout from.

I was looking for a cheat Thursday night meal and found what I was looking for! I was looking for a no-frills, cozy spot with a surprisingly extensive variety of vegan and vegetarian options, Ding How Restaurant did not disappoint. Service is good and the food came out at a timely manner. This small, family-run spot may not be fancy, but what it lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for in quality and value. The menu is impressively diverse, with a separate section dedicated entirely to vegetarian and vegan dishes, making it easy to find something that suits your dietary preferences. The food is consistently good. Despite its humble setting, Ding How delivers dishes that are satisfying and comforting. Overall, I think Ding How Restaurant is a great choice for those seeking tasty vegan and vegetarian options in a casual, laid-back environment. It's a go-to spot for a quick, delicious meal with a vegan and carnivore, that won't cost you much but will leave you completely satisfied.

    Wor Wonton Soup

I would highly recommend this place, I ordered the wor wonton soup, it had an amazing flavor and didn't need anything other than some siracha to spice it up, so yummy. I also got a side of white rice which was super fluffy. The shrimp was the best part of the soup aside from the broth!! The customer service was also really great, I went on my lunch and I really love the vibe in there.

It's good if you are bringing non Chinese friends as it is cheap with nice decor, friendly service, and food comes out in a reasonable amount of time even when they have many take out orders. Also more vegetarian dishes than I expected. Solid food for price, although tends to be too sweet. Has a "take out taste" to it that I'm not sure how to describe. If you are Chinese missing this type of food, I think it is familiar enough to quench your homesickness.

Lunch special is a good deal. They did not have brown rice the day we were there for lunch. They have lots of vegetable options on the menu. They were quite busy at Saturday lunch. The veggies were fresh and cooked well which I appreciated.

The amount of vegan options are amazing! I recommend getting the combination platter as it comes with soup, a spring roll, rice, and chow mein. The vegan honey walnut shrimp was BUSSIN! One of the best vegan shrimps I have had. The vegan sesame chicken was meh...it was chewy and squishy. Overall good pricing, options, soup and service! Will be coming back!

    MONGOLIAN BEEF, SHRIMP FRIED RICE

Mongolian beef, shrimp fried rice, wor wonton soup. An old friend mentioned how good Ding How was and the first time I purchased food was AMAZING. It still is delicious! The MB is super tender, sauce is amazing, and onions have the perfect crunch & sweetness. The shrimp fried rice has so much flavor it's good by itself as well as the wor wonton soup, the broth is so good. I highly recommend going to Ding How. Total for these family plates was $50 including 1 Dr. Pepper When we walked in there wasn't anyone there and it was super peaceful. The guy who served us was kind and didn't interrupt us excessively.

We ordered take out from Ding How for the first time in a few years. Everything was delicious - lemon chicken, chicken chow mein, vegetarian honey walnut shrimp, cream cheese wontons, dumplings, egg rolls. Their appetizer portions are huge - where so many places are cutting back on the quantity, we had a small box filled with each of the appetizers we ordered. No scrimping! And the noodles had actual noodles - not a bunch of cabbage to fill it out. Tons of chicken too. It came out to about $76 total - and was ready in 20 minutes. Great customer service and easy parking. We will be back!

This is a don't judge a book by its cover kind of place. Looks really humble from the outside but…read moreonce you're inside, it's large, clean and fancy. The menu was huge with lots of pictures and options. They put a thing of water at the table, which I appreciated. We both got the Chinese beer, and we both ordered lamb. He got the farmhouse lamb, it was like a stirfry lamb with onions and bell pepper in medium spicy. For medium it wasn't too spicy and it was nice and savory. I ordered a chef special, Lamb Slices with Enoki Mushrooms, mild. Although one dish was medium, and the other mild, they both felt about the same spiciness and I really feel it's because the lamb slices with mushrooms was like a hot pot and so the chili was spicier in here since it was brewing in the broth. The lamb slices with mushrooms was also very savory. The broth was very umami and opaque not thin at all. It also had glass noodles at the bottom of the dish. Tons of mushroom tons of lamb. We felt like we got a good amount of food for the price. And the lamb and both dishes had that good flavor of lamb, not that cheap lamb flavor and the lamb in both was very tender and soft. We also got the pork dumplings, these were obviously made in house. The dough was homemade and the filling both tasted homemade. We each also got a side of white rice. The total before tip was $95, this was for the two lamb dishes, the appetizer, the two sides of rice, and the four beers. It's obviously a hit. We got there at a good time, but by the time we left, it was a full house. It also seems like they do a lot of deliveries. They had a decent looking bar area with wine and other alcohol, I'm not quite sure what. They had three choices of beer, corona, Heineken, and the Chinese beer that we got. I also like that they had candles out, I'm not sure if they sell these, but they were gathered at the end of the bar. They also had walnuts and dry mango that looked for sale. Looking at everybody else's tables too, all the dishes looked amazing. We're so happy that we took a chance and just tried this place out on a whim! It made for a really great date night.

Wow! Ascended to my #1 restaurant spot in Davis. Definitely more of an infrequent meal since I…read morewould consider it more on the expensive side. Average dishes are ~20 dollars. Great spicy food and friendly staff. Food (10/10) - The food here is AMAZING! Perfect balance of spice to flavor and every single bite is electric. The sichuan numbing pepper in the Chongqing soup was DELICIOUS. Mix it with some of the white rice and you have a dish all by iteself. The chicken itself had a nice chew and was very fragrant. Loved the texture and flaovr of the vermicelli; nice bounce to the noodles while soaking in all the spicy soup. My one complaint would be that they have soft bones (sign of long boiling time) so be careful of that! Also got the spicy stir-fried pork kidney... don't diss it 'til you try it. Super good, with that nice bit of chew. Take a bite of pepper, kidney, and white rice and BOOM! Perfect bite. **Recommendation: Rice is a key component for the dishes here. Without rice, everything will be too spicy, too savory, and overall too overwhelming. The rice is the thing that helps tie everything together (as it frequently is) Service (8/10) - Good service; nothing notable. Nice people and I think most of them speak Mandarin. Service and seating was also fast. Order of things to come out of the kitchen was a bit strange: soup for the chicken, rice, stir-fry, chicken. Honestly, not that big of a problem but just decided to comment. Price (8/10) - The price here is a bit on the pricier side; $54 for 2 but there were some leftovers (had to make my own rice though). Some of the dishes are more worth than others. The Chonqing chicken was $25 but you got a large bowl of chicken with soup and vermicelli. On the other hand, the stir-fry for $20 was notably padded with vegetables and I would say a majority of the dish was not the kidney. At the very least, the taste of the food compensates. However, this place is likely not a college go-to. Overall, great restaurant that I will be coming back to again (maybe with my parents LOL) or at the very least, would come with a large group as it is more fitting for family style. Highly recommend!

When we left Davis and came back, we were really sad that there were no more Taiwanese food options, because we both loved the pork chop and meat gravy over rice so much. That being said, when we realized, honey D was there, we figured we would try it. The store itself is quite small, think fast service Boba shop size. The decoration is fine, the place kept pretty clean, not much more to say about it. The service is also really good, the staff working was very polite and friendly, and it turns out the owner must've been in the shop because she delivered our food and asked us if we've ever eaten this food before and offered to help. We ordered the fried chicken with pork gravy over rice, the beef noodle soup, and the lemon tea. To be honest, the beef noodle soup is not my favorite. Although the meat looks like it was freshly cut, I found it to be quite tough. I also was not really a fan of the bra, but I know the broth is also up to personal taste. For myself personally, I think the one at Dah Bao is better, and I've had much better in the Bay Area and outside of the bay. That being said, we both really enjoyed the chicken and rice. It was such a nostalgic taste, and we felt like the serving size was great. The chicken itself was really crunchy, so I imagine their other fried chicken and popcorn chicken options are also delicious. The tea was also very refreshing and helped to wash the food down. We plan to come back and try more of their braised meat and rice dishes, despite being a little disappointed by the beef noodle soup.

I really like their rice plates, and the portions are big enough to share between two people. They offer a deal, if you order a rice plate, you can order certain drinks for $4.50. The chicken wings may not look like much, but they were crispy, not dry, and weren't overly salty. I was pretty full after eating, otherwise I definitely would've ordered dessert. I really like their tofu pudding desserts. They're not overly sweet and come with a good variety of toppings, including boba. There seemed to be only one person working the counter during my visit. She was taking orders, making drinks, and bringing out the food. Our drinks took a while, but the wait for the food wasn't too bad. This location is pretty small with only a few tables inside, so if it gets really busy, you may have to wait for a table to open up.
