Cole Slaw with Pineapple (must try)
Cesar D.

I love fried chicken and had never had time to try Dinah's in Glendale. I was in town the other week to visit family and finally had a chance to visit Dinah's Chicken. Dinah's has been in business for 59 years. What a great spot, as you walk up you are taken back in time, the decor, menu board and high-quality fried chicken. We were seated quickly even though the dining area is very small, they seem to turn the tables fairly quickly. The menu is simple but with plenty of options, my brother and I ordered the Chicken Dinner, which is served all day, it's a 3 piece of chicken, 2 sides, we chose the pineapple coleslaw and mashed potatoes and gravy. The pineapple coleslaw had a lot of flavors the pineapple gave it a nice refreshing taste, a must try. They also offer a chicken drumstick for one dollar, well worth it, it is nice sized. The chicken skin is nice and crispy, not sure how they fry the chicken, but I really appreciated the fact that the chicken was not greasy, the taste of the chicken was amazing. They have a variety of drink options and pies, I counted 8 different pies or so, some from memory are, Cherry, Banana Cream, Pecan, Chocolate Cream, Lemon, Meringue, Blueberry, they looked amazing, we did not have any space for a slice but next time we might prioritize a slice or two. You can also order food to go; I noticed that they have options under their family style menu from a 6 piece to a gigantic 36 piece (giant barrel O'Chicken) for 108.00 bucks. you can also order large 1/2 gallon to a full gallon of sides. If you enjoy gizzards and chicken liver, this is the place for you. One other point, the parking lot is very small, not kidding, plan ahead.

Ambiance: it's a small restaurant both for dine-in and takeout orders, limited seating inside, the shared paneling lot gets packed easily and there's ample street parking nearby, Service: friendly and fast, the food was served shortly after placing the order Food: classic diner food menu, with emphasis on chicken meals 2 PIECE 'N' WAFFLE - *** 2 PIECES OF CHICKEN, 1 WAFFLE WITH MAPLE SYRUP, choices of one wing and one leg, the waffle was chewy and not crispy, the leg tasted fine, the wing was too dry, and spicy sauces available upon request Price: moderate portions and affordable prices, expect $20+ per person for a quick bite, discount for cash payment

The food at Dinah's is always amazing. There's a reason that they have been a Glendale staple for all these years. The chicken is delicious, and any of the sides as well. You can't make a bad choice. The service is impeccable. And the cozy ambience makes for the perfect setting to enjoy comfort food. Whenever I'm in the Glendale area during lunch, Dinah's is my go to spot!

One of the best fried chicken I've had. I saw they have spicy chicken so I had to try it. Juicy and crispy chicken. Great waffles. Moist and buttery. My son loves the Mac and cheese. I e been meaning to come here. Glad I did. Parking could be a little tricky. I had to park on the street.

Check out that golden brown color!! So juicy and crunchy! DON'T MISS OUT ON THEIR $1 DRUMSTICK SPECIAL!! From their family meals, individual plates and iconic takeout bucket of chicken, it will satisfy your cravings! Ashley had great customer service!! There is limited indoor and outdoor seating. Very cozy and nostalgic!!

Had this delivered on Friday night and still thinking about it! Fried chicken - 4 1/2 stars. Absolutely delicious. Moist and tasty on the inside and crispy on the outside. Mac N Cheese - 4 1/2 stars. Served classic, I loved this!! Mashed potatoes - 4 stars. A classic preparation, solid and delicious! Baked Beans - 4 stars. On the sweeter side but rich in flavor and really good. I was highly impressed with how good this was and will definitely be getting this again. Well done Dinah's!

Trying this restaurant since 1967 with their fried chicken specialty and loving it! I had: 1. Fried chicken combo 2. Pineapple coleslaw - must try item! This coleslaw is not the same with all the coleslaws you've eaten before 3. Corn on the cob 4. Mac and cheese 5. Fried liver and gizzard

This place had been on my radar for ages and I am super glad I finally got to try it. I ordered chicken and waffles, a two piece lunch, and a side of gizzards and livers. The chicken was delicious and perfectly fried. It tasted like if someone's grandma was in the back cooking. The mac and cheese was way better than I expected. The restaurant has an old school diner vibe and the servers were very friendly. They also have jars or delicious apple butter on each table to pair with your food. I can't wait to go back and try the Spicy chicken. If you're on the fence about coming here this is your sign to go!!

First time trying Dinah's and the fried chicken was amazing! Skin was crispy and meat was super juicy. We were all excited to try and eat that I forgot to take pictures lol! The restaurant is pretty small but has cute decors and looks cozy. It has take out orders and indoor dining. Friendly service and really good chicken. Ordered 4 drumsticks to go and the chicken was fresh hot and delicious . The coating was light and crispy and the chicken pieces were large and very tasty. There is a wait for the chicken but every order it is made fresh and not sitting around like other fast food places thats why we waited longer cause first we didn't call. The chicken was hot juicy, super crispy and delicious but not heavily battered unlike other places. They also have shrimp platter , coleslaw, potato salad and even home made pies. This is for walk ins only and not available online - 1$ drum sticks but you have to order 16$ worth of food to get the deal. Wait time: 15-20 mins wait coz we didn't call in first lol Price: a little expensive compared to Popeyes and KFC now Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Service: Good service. Well worth a visit. I wish they have it in the Eastbay. Loved their chicken their gravy, mac and cheese and fries. Definitely worth to check it out.

Mac & Cheese, very tasty!

Est. 1967- It's been 5 years since my last visit to Dinah's. I came during the Covid shutdowns, so I wasn't able to eat inside, everything was to-go. this time, I dined-in. The service was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the 2 piece with a Breast and a Wing, Mashed Potatoes, and a side of Mac & Cheese. The chicken is juicy and tender, with a really nice season on the crispy batter. Dipping it in the gravy from the mash is the way to go. I asked for additional gravy and that didn't charge me for it. Also, I wanted to see if the Potato Salad was as good as I remembered and it is! They gave me some to try and again, no charge. Very nice! The inside has a very homey feel to it. It's cozy, inviting and relaxing. The food, the service and the vibe, make's Dinah's a great place to visit. The food here is always good to go, but if you have the time, enjoy a meal inside and relax.

The best fried chicken and waffle I've ever had! Good food, good environment, and good service!!

Coconut cream pie

Whenever we're craving fried chicken and find ourselves in the Glendale area, this is our go-to spot. The chicken is always spot on super crunchy skin with juicy, tender meat inside. I also love their cranberry stuffing; it's delicious and reminds me of Thanksgiving. Their coleslaw is another favorite. The pineapple pieces make it refreshing and a little different from the usual. I also really enjoy their waffles and will sometimes order them with the chicken instead of the traditional sides. My go-to drink is the pineapple iced tea, which is refreshing and not overly sweet. Recently, I tried their coconut cream pie for dessert and it was amazing--probably the best I've had. The coconut custard is so flavorful and creamy. Customer service has always been consistently good here. I've never had a bad experience, which is why we keep coming back.

Dinah's chicken is my favorite spot to pick up a quick bucket of delicious fried chicken, when the craving hits. They're located in a small shopping center on San Fernando Rd. Adjacent to Vons, and across the street from CA. mattress Stores. You can't miss it, look for the giant bucket of chicken. It's been there for 50 years. Their chicken is crispy, and golden brown on the outside, and very juicy on the inside. They have a special way of frying the chicken that they don't use any

We went on a Wednesday night so it was basically empty idk if it's usually busy or not. Edendale is tucked away on a very busy street with limited street parking and even in the surrounding neighborhood we found it tedious with the amount of tow away signs, so plan ahead. Our group of four went on a Wednesday night so it wasn't busy at all, we decided to sit in the front outside area. Music playing, low lights, candles and greenery. Which be careful if you sit near the plants, lots of spiders and ants during our meal (yikes.) Service was great. Server was very chill and made sure to check in multiple times. Food was standard and drinks were good but nothing life changing. All in all what a cool space, Edendale being an old firehouse makes the ambiance really unique. There is a couple outside areas, one out front and closer to the back near the restrooms. Lots of options to sit inside or outside. Wouldn't necessarily go for the food but a very nice place to catch up with loved ones over a candle lit cocktail hour.

Outdoor patio seating is great, and reminds of eating outdoors in a European cafe. Indoor seating is a little cramped if you're at one of the tables, which also sort of mimics European cafes. My one small knock on this restaurant is the service has been inconsistent. Couple times our waiter was great, but a couple times it was hard to flag them down, they didn't space out the dishes very well as the appetizers and entrees all came out the same time, or they forgot to bring water when we asked for it. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy, my boyfriend got the Hungarian brat with spaetzle, and our friend ordered the Hungarian brat on a roll. Starting with the schnitzel: it wasn't completely terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. The breading was some what soggy and sliding off the chicken, and the chicken itself had almost no seasoning besides an odd lemony sourness. The mashed potatoes were honestly awful -- extremely sour, like they were overloaded with sour cream but missing butter, salt, or any real flavor. I LOVE mashed potatoes and only managed two bites before giving up. The red cabbage was overcooked, mushy, and had a slightly off taste. Overall, the schnitzel plate was maybe a 2/10, and those points go solely to the fact that the chicken itself was technically edible. My boyfriend's meal somehow managed to be worse. The bratwurst was fine, but tasted frozen and reheated rather than fresh. The sauerkraut, according to him, "tasted like dirty socks." The spaetzle was genuinely offensive -- mushy, overly bland, and tossed with what looked like hydrated diced mushrooms that literally tasted like dirt. I honestly questioned whether it had gone bad. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself felt dirty and had a strange smell throughout. It honestly seems like a place locals may still visit out of habit or convenience, but it no longer reflects what I imagine it once was. It's unfortunate, because there's something special about a restaurant that's been around for 65 years and still tries to maintain its old-school charm. Sadly, the food and cleanliness just don't live up to that legacy anymore. Save your money unless you're only stopping in for an overpriced German draft beer. We definitely won't be back.

Wish this came out with my main course. For the main course, I got the trout. The fish was fresh. It took a while for the order to come out. The fish skin was mostly crunchy and tasty, which is nice, and it came mostly deboned. The big down for me was that it tasted ok and the fish was drenched in oil, way too much oil. Overall, it was good, but not all of the dishes were a hit, and considering the cost, this place will give me pause before coming back. Ambiance: Not sure I would take someone on a date here unless I've been out with them a few times already. The acoustics in the space are just echoey and on the loud side. I had to wear my AirPods the whole time with either noise cancellation or transparency. They should really dampen the noise in that dining hall more. Also, there are long family-style tables in about 3 rows. I don't know how I would feel about that overall, but that is just me. I prefer to have my own table with my group.
