I ordered for a family gathering and everything was absolutely amazing. The chicken? Perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside . The sides were just as impressive -- the mashed potatoes were smooth and savory, the pineapple coleslaw was a refreshing twist (seriously delicious), and the mac and cheese was a hit with the kids creamy, cheesy, and comforting. I ordered the 3 piece chicken dinner, the chicken was flavorful and satisfying, the skin was crispy on the outside hot and juicy on the inside very satisfying. The plate was served with a breast, thigh, and wing, a refresh baked dinner roll and a choice of two sides, I went old school mashed potatoes and pineapple coleslaw. The service at Dinah's was excellent, my server was friendly and made sure everything was to my liking, and it certainly was to my liking. The good: Waffle was excellent The mid: Chicken was juicy in the way that the Costco chickens are, kind of slimy, like they are commercial food grade instead of artisan food grade if that makes sense. The bad: Dining room seating is wayyy too tight. I was sat in a corner table and the waitress missed me repeatedly for refills on drinks and when trying to flag anyone down for the check. The answer that I get is we don't have any blond hair here but I saw a girl who has a blond hair. Dinah's was very good back in the day. Seeing the old cafe style restaurant brought back fun memories. However, tonight the chicken just wasn't the same. The breading was not the same. It was thin, bland, burnt and the chicken was undercooked. It was too rubbery. Suffice it to say that on our way home we had to make a fast stop at another restaurant due to stomach issues. This might be one of, if not THE, best chicken place in town. They said if the colonel has their recipe, then he'd be a general--i'm not contesting that. The chicken is fried perfectly, not too salty, and all the spices permeates the the chicken meat down to the bone. Sometimes with fried chicken you have to eat the meat together with the crispy skin to make sure you get all the flavor. If you're like me who likes to strip your chicken naked, usually either you get crispy skin that is too salty or you get crispy skin that is just right, but the you're left with bland chicken meat. At Dinah's you can have your crispy skin and eat (the meat). Truly the best experience. The chicken was very crispy on the skin and the meat itself was juicy & tender on the inside. The promotion to add more drumsticks came clutch. Mygroup ordered more drumsticks. I was expecting a decent meal, but what I got was me questioning my waitress as to who made this chicken because I was fully convinced that their mama needed to be slapped. The chicken was fried to a Golden Crisp, and tasted just as good as it looked. The flavors and juices that bursted in my mouth with the first bite of chicken can only be described as a cataclysmic, miracle, destined by God. I instantly felt as if I had time traveled to the past of when fried chicken first received its fame. And I haven't even gotten to the buttery, soft, yet crispy deliciousness of that delectable waffle. ANNNNDDD then I messed around and put some of that apple butter on my waffle! Good God almighty. Tried this spot a few days ago, walked in placed my to go order. Then asked her how long it would take, she told me 1 minute lol, but it literally only took 30 seconds and my order was already in my hands. They are crazy fast with preparation, kfc isn't even as fast as them. Lol And what's even crazier my fried chicken was fresh! Had Dinah's for the first time today and cannot wait to go back!! The chicken was incredible, the Mac and cheese was spot on, and the biscuits with the apple butter are incredible. You get your food fairly quickly and staff were nice. The only down side is that if you want to eat in the restaurant you have to order off the table menus. i saaw dinah's chicken on one of my youtube shorts, it looked really good so i decided to come and try them out. as a first time customer, here are my thoughts and opinion about this place. - parking is really nice and convenient. - relaxing and comfortable outdoor seating. as i walked in it was a bit awkward because no one greeted me until i was ready to place my order but that's fine. the girlie who helped me decided what i wanted to try was soo sweet and helpful. absolutely lovely! i ordered myself the box o ' chicken box that comes with 3 pieces of shit, 2 sides, &' 1 bread roll. i also ordered myself some fries on the side as well. the 2 sides that i decided to try was their Mac n cheese & mash potatoes. i also got my their pineapple coleslaw as an extra. here is my opinion on the meal : let's start with their chicken. i have to say their chicken is really really good. the skin of the chicken was nice and crispy. i love spreading honey on top of my chicken to get a better taste. i would rate their chicken a 9.5/10. the mac n cheese that i ordered was okay, nothing special. it was a bit dry and i do prefer a wet/sticky cheesey consistency. i would rate their mac n cheese a 3/10. their mash potatoes was really good. gravy tasted good. you can't go wrong with mashed potatoes. lol. i would rate their mashed potatoes a 7.5/10. i ordered their pineapple coleslaw and i am a huge coleslaw fan but this one was probably my least favorite coleslaw i have ever tried. i think the pineapple flavor just throws my palette off. i would have to rate their coleslaw a 0/10. the fries were good though. had a good crunch to their fries and seasoning was okay. i would rate their fries a 6.5/10. their swiss roll bread is nothing special. i thought it was gonna have like a Hawaiian kind of taste but it just plain old bread lol. the arnold palmer was refreshing. my overrall opinion is that this place is good for their chicken. Saw this spot when we were going down the street to Goodwill. I'm a fried chicken fanatic so I quickly bookmarked it on Yelp and in the files of my brain lol. It took about a month to get here but we did. We were impressed.. Any establishment with charm and who isn't a chain will always get my $$ first. I haven't had gizzards and livers in years so that was the main thing I wanted to try. The livers were fantastic but I wasn't a fan of the gizzards. I also had a fried thigh just to taste to see what the hype was about. It was fried great but I was expecting a bit more seasoning....blame it on my Southern roots where mostly everything has Creole seasonings. The gizzards were rubbery with a soggy coating like they had been tossed in a microwave just before serving. I also ordered the $1.00 chicken leg. It also had no flavor with a soggy coating. Cute vintage atmosphere which I liked, initially we ordered the regular fried chicken which was bland and flavorless so I took it back in and asked to try the spicy chicken instead Which I assumed would have more flavor and that was fabulous!!! So full of flavor with a sort of spicy paprika seasoning on it I absolutely loved it. The mashed potatoes were very flavorful and delicious.
