Chicken Kabob, Feta pita, Basmati Rice, Gyros, Dolmades
Dan A.

Been to a couple of their locations and have visited a few times. Not an "all you care to eat" person but I make the exception for Dimassi's. The choices are overwhelming in a good way. Salad options were plentiful and ranged from Tabouli to Fatoush to Kale Caesar. Tried all three and enjoyed them all. Chicken Kabobs and Gyros were tasty and the Feta Pita and Basmati Rice hit the spot. Impressive Dessert spread also. Service was friendly and plates/tables were cleared in a timely manner. Overall, reasonable pricing for the offer and they manage to provide quality dishes despite being AYCTE.

Came here for a friend's graduation dinner and it was yummy. The price for the buffet is decent and all the foods were hot and fresh. There's a lot of seating and parking. The staff are working hard to keep things clean and keep bringing out new foods. There was plenty of options here and we left super stuffed.

So we were heading to the apartment from Hobby Airport but since we knew our driver, he wanted to stop by this place to pick up lunch. We said we'd join him but we need the take away lunch. We had to get to our destination. We picked the foods our driver recommended. His choices were spot on. We don't eat Middle Eastern food much but this eatery was full of diners on a Sunday afternoon! Our friend took us to the buffet area and boy, they had an assortment of colorful and very delicious food. He told us what to get and filled up a to go container with his suggestions. Their dessert selection was surprisingly large but I took a few baklavas. I like them! Overall, we will come back here and spend more time walking along the buffet line. We were in a hurry so we did not linger too long. PS After getting into the apartment, we checked out the food and boy, we had a feast. We just took a bite of each of the dishes and enjoyed ourselves. I must say that since I'm not familiar with Middle eastern food, eating it this way was educational. As for the restaurant itself, it was very clean and the ambiance is perfect for a Sunday afternoon early dinner.

Walking by to a different restaurant but walked in to check it out. Needless to say we sat down and ate. Great selection of foods and servers were super helpful. Really enjoyed the girl meat and cold salads. Will come again if I'm ever back in Houston.

After visiting the Middle East recently, I was missing the authentic manakeesh and falafels a lot and Dimassi's came through for me. The all you can eat buffet was delicious. Vegetarian dishes include a variety of salads, grilled veggies, cauliy, hummus, baba ghanoush, falafels, zatar manakeesha, pickles and more. The rose water drink was yum. Desserts were okish. The meal definitely fills you up for the day.

While it may appear not much has changed at this popular Dimassi's location, there's been a number of changes in the last year that requires this necessary update. The not-so-good: * New Owners and Management: Compared to the previous management, the service has gone down a notch. These are nice people still, but there are less smiles, more splatters along the buffet line, and the to-go ordering is significantly slower. * In a word: bathrooms. They were far better maintained before but there's still hope and a definite need for soap (#1). * Lamb shank: One of the staples of the Dimassi dinner experience was being able to order lamb shank over the buffet counter. It's still a thing, but a much smaller thing and a less tasty one at that. The very-good: * Updated sign: Before the antiquated sign was practically falling off. The new owners have a new illuminated sign that showcases the modern logo and is way more visible, especially at night. * All hail, kale: Salad was never the most exciting thing here and it still isn't. However, they do have a nice kale salad available at all times and it is refreshing and tasty. * Worthy of an update as well, but the baked chicken is still one of their best items. There was some initial drop off during the transition. but they've since resumed the crispy skin, juicy chunks of meat, and the fall-off-the-bone tenderness that I've come to love. I have always shown love to this location for its central convenience but also because they've always been consistent. I realize that it's not all roses when there is a changeover, but I'm still excited to continue patronizing them as they look to improve in the future. ___________ (#1) An unintentional bar. And not the soap kind either.

Amazing Mediterranean cuisine. The falafel was perfect. The meet is incredible.

This is the best Mediterranean buffet in town. It's clean and the food is consistent. It's always busy and it's definitely a place to go when you're near the south side of Houston. You will not be disappointed. We've probably eaten here 25 times. It's an amazing buffet of healthy and tasty food.

The food is excellent. Some items were not as hot as others but everything is excellent!

Fancy pita with oregano and herbs.

Eat here weekly while at MD Anderson. Lots of fresh vegetables and salad options as well as gyros, a variety of chicken and meats of many kinds. Good pita bread and the iced tea is tasty too. My hubbie likes the desserts...I'm off sugar.

Do it serve HALAL food?

During Ramadan they serve traditional food that usually isn't served on any other day. I would think that their meat would meet Halal standards but I am not Muslim. Best thing would be to call and ask. They're very friendly.

We appreciated that kind gesture. Every food item on the menu looked delicious. I decided on the Lamb Rack. Loved the texture of the lamb and loved the basmati rice. Lamb was cooked perfectly, and the rice was very fragrant. We were offered a complimentary Persian Ice Cream Sandwich which had an unique flavor. It wouldn't be a flavor for everyone, but to me, it was a perfect ending to a great entree as it was light and mildly sweet. Note that not all food options are halal. Their website is updated with the information and you could also ask the server for clarification. Absolutely adore the interior. The restaurant could get loud but still bearable. By the time we got to our table, we had only an hour to dine before the restaurant closes. Thankfully, our wonderful server was quick to get us settled in and that made up for the slow start. We tried a few dishes and found the starters to be more tasty than the main entree. Shirazi Salad, Rumi's Wings, Crispy Potato, Cremini & Oyster Mushroom Hummus was well worth sharing plates. Unfortunately, the Chicken Kabob lacked seasoning and any depth of flavor. It was the least favorite dish of the night. We also sampled every single desserts on the menu, but only the Majoon Toffee Cake won us over with its deliciously warm and comforting sweetness. While we enjoyed some dishes, the overall taste was just average for an upscale establishment. One major detail was the underwhelming of plating when it can play a vital role in how food is perceived. A little more finesse could really add value to the dining experience.

It just doesn't compare to the real BBQ joints in Houston. Somewhat tough in parts. Not much bark. The sausage was the absolute worst I've ever had anywhere in my life. I wouldn't feed it to my dog. It went in the trash. Saffron rice was my ok, pointless really. Mac 'n cheese very plain Jane. The ice in my soda smelled funny. They did have some good employees. Service was great. They get a second star just for that. Don't think I'll be going back. I just have to say that I've been to some really crappy, run-down BBQ restaurants over the years. Old places where the owners are burned out and the staff doesn't care. Corners are cut and they just barely try. I'm sure you can think of some BBQ hole in the walls like that. As bad as they are with their Ekrich sausage, Van Camps pork 'n beans, Walmart meats, and KC Masterpiece bbq sauce - even they are better than Levant BBQ.

As I see the entrance, love the decor, ambiance, and the whole seating area with bar in the middle, flowers and sculptures is cute and insta worthy. I was sat down at 8 pm, my server was great, he does talk a lot but that's his personality. From the server standpoint service was great. Now the food, I ordered Mithus shrimp and butter chicken experience. I asked for spicy for both dishes. Shrimp and the sauce, really good, came with soft buns. Delicious! Although it was not spicy at as asked. The butter chicken experience was very disappointing for me - it came in 3 sauces, white, tomatillo and traditional. I felt they needed a bit of flavor, something more bold. I felt meh the whole time as I have had better butter chicken. Mind you, I'm Punjabi and this is owned by Punjabis so I was surprised the food was tasted by someone and was said this is ok. The traditional was my biggest meh, as the sauce was way too tangy, that is not butter chicken though. Now service, although server was great, my food was severely late, I was literally scrolling on my phone starving. Nothing was offered by staff to make up for it. When I say late - I sat down at 8 pm, I ordered both - app and main dish at the same time. My butter chicken did not hit my table till 9:30 pm. I almost wanted to walk out. The restaurant really need to step up their flavor game and service game. Overall, nothing to rave about, or make an effort to come back unless they really make it better. I have had better Indian food let alone Michelin, which again has been a great experience in New York, Chicago, DC and in Europe. I think the severely late food service, and lack of flavors, and keeping it so bland despite asking for spicy, killed it for me.

I'm always happy to discover a good restaurant recommendation, and this one definitely did not disappoint. They had someone out front handing out samples of their Jollof rice, curry sauce, and stewed plantains, which were part of their Golden Bowl. I'm not a big plantain person, so I initially asked for mine without them. But, I decided to give them a try anyway, both with and without them. I'm glad I did because the plantains actually added a really nice balance to the dish. The combination of the rice, curry, and plantains was mostly savory with just a hint of sweetness. Hands down, this was my favorite dish. I also have to give a shout out to the woman out front handling the samples. I spoke with her the most, and she did a really good job of selling the restaurant. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. Sometimes it's the little things, like someone taking the time to introduce you to the food and make recommendations, that can really make a difference. All in all, ChopNBlok was a great find, and I'm glad my friend recommended it. I don't live in the area, but if I ever find myself back there, I would definitely return for the Golden Bowl.
