This is THE WORST internet provider I have ever had. I've lived in five different states and had lots of different providers (regional and national) and this is by far the worst. Low download speeds and spotty reception at best...none for days at worst. And even if you're paying for download speeds UP TO 6 mbps and have documentation that you're consistently getting 2 or less, you still have to pay through the nose for the luxury of having even that. Their service technicians and customer service people are at least nice and patient. But, if you're living in the mountains (Quincy area) and have the option of using ANYONE else, I can only assume it's better. Try calling Plumas Sierra Telecommunications. Better speed, better reliability, better pricing. I just didn't have that option because of where my home was located. read more

I live in Browns Valley, CA and Digital Path is unfortunately one of the only internet service providers that I have to choose from. After reading other the other reviewer's complaints, I have decided to not elaborate as much as I was going to initially. But I am having the same issues as most of the reviewers. I am constantly resetting my router throughout the day. My upload speed and download speed are both horrible. My phone service never works because of the difficulties of my internet connection. Customer service is very difficult to work with. I certainly hope that we all will have a better option to choose from in the near future. read more

This company is horrible. We are in the Calistoga area. Our service routinely fails for long periods. We're just told this is because of interference from other radio towers. They said it "might" be possible to fix this with new equipment but no assurances. All the while jarring is full price of $90 a month for "service". They have a monopoly here where there is no cable and it shows. Look into satellite before signing up with these losers. read more

I often do not have service, it rains, wind blows, no power miles away, but we have no service. There was no service on Christmas Eve. So I complained. I went to pay my bill and ALL they reimbursed was 1.00 for a day of no service, much inconvience and just a hassle to have to deal with them. There has to be more service for Butte Valley. Oh yes, I asked to speak to a manager. There IS NEVER one available. I was given a voice mail. My bill is due and I wish there was some where else to go. After a year and a half of this spotty service I can say that I am looking for another isp. EVERY DAY I loose the connection many times throughout the day making it very difficult to do any kind of research or business online with DigitalPath as my ISP. In all fairness I had Hughes ISP through Dish net. before DP that was as bad or worse and had a 5 gig limit . I think the problem is that ALL ISP are selling more bandwidth than they own and so someone will ALWAYS be without service because more pieces of the pie have been sold than exist. Until someone sues the shit out of these companies for fraud nothing will change and in fact we can plan on it getting worse because there is no law stopping them , evidently . read more

Completely unreliable, this service is terrible! The cost is just as much as "Broadband" yet is only minutely faster than dial up. When..... it is working it's sub par. It rarely runs at half the speed you sign up for, most of the time you are at about .9 mbs. Ridiculous!!! Customer service is awful, and now there is a data cap at 100 gigs! Seriously!!!!! I had to come back and downgrade it from two stars to one because their service just keeps getting worse. After two weeks of spotty service and talking to tech support nearly everyday, the service just stopped all together for 5 days. Called and they said they'd work on it and call back the next day. They never did. I called again and they said they'd send a service guy out but not for an entire week. 5 days without internet, two weeks of spotty internet, and now another week to wait for a service guy. Worst customer service. We just moved out to the country in gridley and our Internet providers are limited. We called digital path to get a quote and talk about installation costs. The man on the phone was completely rude! We asked if we could go off our neighbors satellite and get our own service, he acted like that was a dumb question and just said no very rudely instead of explaining that it wasn't possible. The only reason I'm giving a (1 star) is because it will not let me choose any lower. I have had digital path for a couple years and the service is horrible, customer service, horrible. I don't recommend to anybody they advertise up to 6mbps I have never gotten any thing near that,I have paid for them to place there equipment in a tree ($100) still doesn't work, but I still have to pay, there equipment failed in my tree they charged me another $100 to climb the tree to fix there equipment. I was told that climbing a tree would give me good service (wrong) just as bad the most I have ever got was 3mbps (for maybe 5 min)a lot of times it's 1.35 download .25 upload so you would think they would only charge you for the service you revive (wrong) NOT ONLY THAT but I have done speed tests and had a higher upload them download, wth!! DO NOT PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD they keep it on file and charge your card even if you don't ok it and even if the card is not in your name. My internet was down for a month in a half they said I needed a tree climb no one ever came out to climb my tree but they still charged my wife's card and made us pay for services we never revived, when asked to return the money was told "NO" I never signed up for auto pay, my wife was only on my account to call during the day to sit on hold with this joke of a company to try and fix the service while I'm at work, the account was only in my name but they still changed her account for a month in a half of no service. This company does not care about there customers AT ALL especially MICHELLE the highest supervisor you are aloud to talk to. Not only is she rude but when you calmly disagree with her she threatens to close your account this abuse is not just with me but most of the customers. When I tell her to go on this website and read the reviews, that there is not one good review her response was "EVERYBODY ON THEIR ARE JUST WINERS" Even their own installers are un happy with the way this woman treats the customers, I was told that if digital path lost there customers in Quincy and surrounding areas it would be no big deal that they are only worried about new equipment there 6gen being installed the sad part is that a whole county is being ripped off not just one or two people I think it is time to open a false advertisement law suite and get back the tens of thousands of dollars stolen from our family and friends. $300 service fee to sign up on January 30. $65.95/month since then, including just a few days ago for the month of June. Service has been terrible the last couple weeks. I have had to reboot the Digital Path antenna, the router, the computers, and all wireless access several times a day. The system just does not stay connected. Yesterday I requested a service call to see if they could fix things. It was set for two weeks from now. So, they think good service is to have you without decent service for two weeks! I decided to terminate my service. Now they want to add $250 early termination fee. They didn't live up to their part of the contract, but they want additional money from me. Instead, if they were honest, they would refund the $65.95 for June and not charge any early termination. If you have any option other than to use this company, please do it. Completely unreliable service. The internet goes out serveral times a day causing much downtime where I cannot work. The speeds are horrible and the company doesn't spend the money to upgrade their towers to current technology. There is equipment available that can deliver 50mbps yet we're stuck here at an avg of 2mbps (when it works) and .5 upload. If satellite providers can do it from space digital path should be able too a couple miles from my house! Get up with the times DP. read more

I just want my service to work! I own a small business and rely on internet for everything!, I've have been using so much time just trying to get digital path to come out and set up equipment that works! If you like being on hold, transferred, hung up on told the problem is on your end without having a person come out to look, this might be the company for you. Oh yeah, you have to pay more to have a phone number that gets you "priority service". If you enjoy getting the ole' "run-around" I recommend digital path, for those of you that rely on you internet for your business operation, this isn't the place for you. By the way, if you read the reviews below you'll see why the 2 star rating is well deserved. I would award negative stars based on my frustration level if possible, instead i'll just wait and see if I get that nifty apology response from Jessica that seems to be used a lot. Worst company ever! Due to my location I'm stuck with the worst internet provider In the area and quite possibly the world. Not kidding. I purchased this house/property a year ago and while I generally do have Internet service, it's spotty. I can usually expect it to go on and off every evening around 7 PM for a couple of hours. No explanation, no rhyme or reason, no adverse weather. Even though I live on 40 acres, I am just across the road from Butte College which has a large campus AND internet service which I'm told works great. I've called customer service on several occasions (have some snacks and beverages handy) and even though you may be the second caller in the queue you can expect to wait about half an hour before you get to speak to someone. Oh, and they close those lines at 7:00pm so make sure you don't call at 6:30pm like I did, be told you're second in line, and then be automatically disconnected at 7:00pm only to call back and get the "we're closed" recording. My first tech call after no service for a week: a tech comes out and says that after a recent software update they had me mistakenly assigned to the wrong tower or dish or whatever it is I receive my signal from. Sorry he says, our mistake. Ok I'm just happy to have internet back. Currently have not had internet service for a week now. The Internet works but only for about five or 10 seconds and then no service, and after finally getting to talk to someone in customer service i'm told that it shows that I have service but that the signal is extremely weak and he can't fix it. He tells me they will have to schedule a tech call and while the tech is out there they're going to upgrade my equipment. Red flag? At any rate I'm happy that someone's going to come out and fix it. I've been told that scheduling has gone home for the day so I'll need to call back and talk to someone in scheduling. Since it's Friday and there's the New Year's holiday, I will I have to wait four days to call. I call scheduling this morning and after waiting for only six or seven minutes I am pleasantly surprised to be connected. Yay! Very nice woman is happy to schedule me for the earliest possible appointment, which happens to be 10 days from now! Seriously people? I'm screwed because apparently Digitalcrap is my only choice but these people really need to straighten out their customer service, spend the money to hire more people, etc. wow! Good to vent! And yet again I am on hold to for tech support. We have been out of internet for 2 days but by the time we get home from work, " tech support" is closed. Their tech support consist of blaming too many people trying to use the available bandwidth. When I had them come out to look at the hardware the service guy said I could "VOLUNTEER" to open up some useage. REALLY !! That is how you solve the issue is to get people to cancel their service instead of supplying them with the service they paying for. When you speak to Michelle ( manager?) all you get is apologizing for your experience but you never get results. FORGET getting a credit for service outages... You have to put in a ticket for a service credit and wait for 2 months to find out the ticket wasn't approved for credit. Given all that can go wrong in our wired lives, I place a premium on service and support in selecting the companies that I want to do business with. DigitalPath is one of those companies that delivers on support. Last month after someone moved out of our home the "network" suddenly went down. They'd packed our router and the ISP connectors. Failing to get these items back, I called DigitalPath for advice about the least expensive router I should buy and the helpful tech told me to call when I set up the router if I had any problems. Late on a Thursday afternoon right before closing my call with tech support revealed that not only was the router gone, but so was the ISP connector. He asked if I wanted to stop by their location to obtain the missing items, which he'd bring up front for me. The next day I called again, waiting less than 2 minutes in the queue, tech support ran diagnostics and then he walked me through the set up process again and stayed on the phone until I was connected. Our home is in a canyon where it's been a long wait for reliable internet service, DigitalPath was one of the earliest local providers and remains the best choice when things go wrong. read more

HO.LY. CHRIST. I have never in my life encountered a worse company. My family moved into an area where DigitalPath was the only ISP available roughly 9 years ago now. That's right, I've dealt with these clowns for NINE. YEARS. And my service now, today, is literally worse than it was NINE YEARS AGO. What tech company manages to go *backwards* over such a long period of time? Just to set the tone of this review, let me lead with the fact that this company is so terrible that my neighbor is paying thousands of dollars to build a tower in his yard for a different ISP so that we can have someone other than DP. Thousands. We're talking 5 figures. Just to get away from these people. The service was always extremely slow and unreliable. But as of two years ago, I now live with 40 to 60% downtime DAILY. I have called customer support NUMEROUS times about this issue, only to be shined on, ignored, told I don't know what I'm talking about, or told that they're going to do something and I should expect an improvement within a week or so, which predictably never happens. And when you complete a speedtest, and show them that you're only getting .028mbps down when you're (grossly over)paying for a 6mbps connection, they say, "Those tests are unreliable, and the plan numbers aren't exact." Comcast will tell you the same thing. But when I moved to Chico for a year I paid Comcast the same amount of money for a 25mbps plan and tested in at 28mbps all the time. I am a computer science major. I took networking classes. I have friends who actually work and own ISPs. I have, at the least, an *idea* of what I'm talking about. There are times when I've gone so far as to call them up, ask to speak with someone with a specific job title that I know has the autonomy to implement these fixes, TELL them what's wrong, TELL them how to fix it, and STILL see no results, or get told things that are so mind bendingly stupid it amazes me that these people even work here. After all of this, is this enough? LOL. OF COURSE NOT. Now they've implemented DATA CAPS. Yes, this is not a joke, DATA CAPS on a paid ISP with reliability issues. In 2016. This is happening. Right now. And the biggest joke of all....PRICES ARE INCREASING LOL. So over the past 9 years, speeds have gone down, prices have gone up, reliability has gone down, and there is now a cap on how much you can use this terrible connection that you pay way too much for. We've going on 7 months of frustration with Digital Path. Low/no internet access can last for hours and even days. Our first e-mail to customer support yielded little help, the second was outright ignored. After the 30 "money back" trial period, our connection became very unreliable. Now we're looking to complain to the BBB. Netflix, e-mail, Facebook and even the Playstation Network often are unusable on this connection. If you live anywhere east of Oroville, Ca, I would recommend you avoid this ISP at all costs. read more

We have had digitalpath for three years. I would say that 5 of 7 days a week it works fine. However, the service frequently will go down on the weekends - or after 7pm on weekdays - right when DP doesn't have any live operators to help with the issues. So, we wait. and yes, it does come back - like it was a problem with their transmitters, not with our equipment. I have become used to this spotty reception - but am strongly considering cable internet. In the past we have been told that it is because we live in a densely populated area of Chico and that there is too much traffic. We live in the center of Chico - if people in the hinterlands can get reception, they should be able to provide service commiserate with the potential traffic of an "urban" environment. This and the fact that DP does not work well with XBOX live internet requirements means that we are not getting what they advertise that they provide. I also have experienced condescending attitudes from their staff and have never received any credits to my account (which I pay for a year at a time) for lack of service in the intervals that it occurs. Service techs that have come to our home have been courteous and respectful - but face-to-face encounters often obligate people to be more amiable. Overall, DP does provide a cheaper (yes, cheap) alternative to other internet providers. They will try to help fix issues initially. They are also very prompt about billing (of course). However, I think that some of the company policies and technology does need to be updated and revised. Rather than replying with thinly veiled denials of individual experience, maybe they should take our comments as constructive criticism and realize that we customers can be very loyal and supportive if we feel like our individual needs are respected and met with workable solutions. read more

Jim M, since I see you take the time to respond to some of the reviews, and I applaud you for that, I am addressing this review to you personally, as no one on your customer service team has been able to resolve my problems, though many have erroneously claimed to. My service was quite good for the first year or so. Something changed dramatically after that; I lost service completely for about 2 weeks. Now I have service sporadically; sometimes reaching speeds in the 2M range; but about half of the time it is either around 0.3 to 0.5M, or disconnected completely. I have spent many hours on hold on DP's appalling customer service line; I can't remember being put on hold for less then 45 minutes, and have been cut off while on hold. I simply don't have that kind of time. I do not have a lot of options where I live, but you can imagine my frustration knowing that you all had the capability to provide good service, as demonstrated in the past, yet every time I contact DP they tell me it's 'fixed' and that is most certainly is not the case. I will also be following up with my bank to make sure that a credit was issued to me in January for the time when my service was completely out. I feel that DP should reimburse me for the last 2 months as well, but I would be happy if my internet was simply fixed! I'm not a big user, and just want 3M on a regular basis....is that too much to ask? read more

I am thankful for YELP! I am new to the area and I was looking for an Internet Provider In Rural Redding. I started researching my options (not many). Reviews on Internet providers are scarce but there are dozens of reviews for Digital Path and they are scary at best. My neighbor, who had Digital Crap (their words not mine), gave me the name of the provider they switched to and I am completely satisfied....great reliable Internet and great customer service! I live in a very rural area however my service is constantly going out and Digital Path won't do anything. I tried calling customer support and all I got was a few outage areas and a long line of 14 other callers. If ever there is a slight storm the Internet goes out and stays incredibly slow. Crooks When I first signed up there were no data caps, None at all. I had to pay a tree climber 100. bucks And Pay for the original equipment. They charge more per month because I live in a rural area with no other choice but dial up or Satellite which cant get a signal. DP was okay until they decided heavier users need to pay even more, even though we had no caps in the beginning. So they slow us down to near dial up speed when the cap is reached. 80 bucks a month is a lot to pay, and if I could get Comcast or Spectrum I'd to it in a heartbeat. I'd try again with Satellite but I have A VOIP phone (Vonage) which won't work with satellite internet. We are Not gamers. My wife is home all day, and often streams KC International House of Prayer, and will download a movie here and there. DONT GET DIGITAL PATH if you have any other decent choice. Worst service, worst or should I say nonexistent internet, my internet simply does not work well over half the time. In fact, I am writing this using free wifi from my gym due to the fact I could not use my internet from DigitalPath at home. There is NO customer service, when called all they will say is that it looks like its working fine then try to intimidate you to get you off the phone one time the guy hung up on my wife. When a customer rep did arrive at our house he was disgruntled with the company and told us that we will be lucky to get rudimentary high speed internet and that it will be intermittent at best - he was not lying. After a few months of decently reliable internet, our connection dropped about a month ago. It took them two weeks to send anyone to fix it. They 'fixed' it in that we could technically connect to the Internet but at a speed that was slower than dial up. They said a relay was down and they'd have it fixed in a day or two. Two weeks later, still no internet. That's right, we have not had internet for a month. If we want to talk to them again, it will be an hour waiting on the phone and two more weeks to get help....so yeah. read more

I had this service for 3 years. The first 2 weren't bad the third was unusable. They expanded the service here in Redding and my speed went to unusable. After waiting 15 to 20 minutes to talk to a Technician they were always helpful but the fix never lasted. Don't prepay for a year. When I terminated my service I had been off line for over a week. They worked on it and never were able to get a sustainable signal. They couldn't provide the service I paid for and still refused to refund the two plus months remaining on the contract. Late review-I had DP installed 3/2011, it was initially spotty but I understood start-up problems here in Igo. So I worked with the tech people and was treated cordially. The problem came when my service failed and I went through a fault isolation routine with tech service and arrived at the antenna. I was promised a service call (read:truck roll) on a Monday after being down from Friday (3 days total). Called Monday, no schedule, couldn't guarantee when, etc. SO I canceled within the 30 day trial, got my $250 install fee back just fine. So they lost a customer, had to do a truck roll anyway to get the antenna, and they left the roof tripod and 250' of burial cable. I'd say that DP lost more than I, since I returned to TDS slow speed (750k) at about the same price. I liked the service very much when it worked and got 1.5 mb and sometimes up to 3 mb. I'll probably try them again when they get more mature in this area. Meanwhile, I am a retired computer science contract engineer and have had to advise my friends, commercial (store), government (school) and neighbors to wait until the positive comments outweigh the negative. Please get it all right digitalpath because we need a reliable wireless internet service out here to compete with the ancient copper phone lines and lack of cellular. Ive had digital path for 5 years now, they have good customer service but i feel most of the techs working dont know what they are doing. I have a decent internet connection but on weekends and nights i can barely even stream a video on netflix. They refuse to try and help my situation. they have made plenty of dollars from me in the past 5 years. So you would think they would do what they can to keep me as customer. However im moving just because of them so that i can switch to comcast because they have 24/7 support and will not charge you for the month that i am having difficulites. They tell me if I call them again with any problems they will discontinue my service and not refund me any money. Digital path's service and technicians are a joke. We are constantly losing our internet connection, sometimes for several hours. I am an online gamer, i also don't have cable, so all of my entertainment (netflix,games) comes from our internet provider. We are constantly kicked offline throughout the day, as well as EVERY night between 11 pm & 12 am, usually for several hours. The technicians will simply have you restart your router, or tell you "well keep an eye on it" without actually doing anything about it. We recently called tech support for probably the 30th time in 2 years. We spoke with josh, who claimed he knew what the problem was, and that he would call my cell in the next 24 hours once it was fixed. 3 days went by, no call. So i called back. We got josh again. He said he could see we had been getting disconnected from the internet many times in the last 24 hours, and that he would "keep an eye on it" and call us back. Knowing the drill, i asked if he needed my number to contact me, but he said there was already a contact number, and once again said he'd call me within a day. So its been almost a week since that call. Still nothing. Thanks digital path tech support. Unless you want more down time than up with your internet connection, dont bother with these guys. May 25, 2014; 3:47pm...trying to connect with my daughter at UCSB due to the emergency. NO connection; called the local land line; no connection. Digitalpath.net phone number 899-7884 just kept ringing off the hook or didn't ring at all. I researched their "wholesale communication provider" Pacific West; there were NO problems; except at the Digital Path.net . I called the local news because a friend stated they were going out of business. The only way I got through to Digital Path's message machine was calling 1800verizon; they patched me through to the "taped recording" which was AFTER hours by the time I got through. What a mess. Tomorrow, May 26, 2014, I will be looking into other providers because Digital Path.net is just too unreliable. Several of my neighbors just signed up with Comcast. I will too! This is the worst internet service company ever. I had their phone service temporarily, but did not convert due to all the outages. They place their relay antennas at homes where people are not competent enough to maintain. DO NOT buy this service; it is a scam outfit! Digital Path is very inconsistent in its internet service. It happens to me in the evenings and nights. It cuts in and out or just stays off. No notifications on their phone service when I call them. There is no customer service of any kind after their business hours, which is horrible. It is outrageous that a business providing a 24hour 7 day a week service does NOT have a way to contact them for help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been reading and looking at the cities and locations that Digital Path serves. IT IS A HUGE AREA !!! So, they are clearly CHOOSING NOT TO SUPPLY a proper signal to its customers. This is not a small company, if it serves all over Northern California, as seen by the posts on Yelp. You need to step up your game and stop being a miser on your signal !!!!!!!!!
