I used Comcast initially, which was an absolute horror show. Comcast capped service and had frequent outages which was due to their throttling mechanisms. Completely unsuitable for SOHO use. Then I went to AT&T. No throttling or capping, and I only had an outage (lasting about 2 hours) once a month. Much better than Comcast. Then I was referred to DigitalPath and installed it alongside AT&T. Using »Speedtest.net, I record a 25% faster speed on DigitalPath than on AT&T DSL (for equivalent tiers of service). In my 6 Mb/sec tier I never get above 2 Mb/sec on either service, however. DigitalPath uses customised wireless repeaters/routers as their equivalent to a modem, and they are not easy to get working if you do anything special like running a game server (since they have firewalls built into the repeater/router and unless you request the device password you cannot change the settings). Nevertheless, after about 3 days of fiddling and workarounds I got it all working and am happy with the end result. It ends up being consistently faster and more reliable than AT&T (and definitely far, far better than Comcast) on average. The quality of this type of network depends on the ratio and quality of wireless repeaters to customers. Performance, therefore, will differ somewhat from area to area. (However, the same thing is true of DSL, where distance from the signal booster determines performance.) The guts of the operation is CentOS Linux-based, which is quite reliable and forward-thinking (and on which much of the Internet is based, these days). This network will continually improve in performance. Naturally, the wireless network is antenna-based. If antennae in the network are blown off-kilter during storms, performance suffers. Fortunately, DigitalPath has a performance monitor in their central offices so they can then go and re-orient antennae of repeaters that have become off-kilter. Satellite-based Internet suffers from very poor upload speeds (which often is carried by a DSL connection anyway). In contrast, I have never experienced a service whose upload speeds were very good until I started using DigitalPath. Since I run several servers (including game servers), upload speed is important to me. It is also important when moving files over the Internet. For this, nothing is better than DigitalPath. (Also, DirecTV did not honor their contract pricing when I signed up, and I'll never do business with DirecTV again.) DigitalPath could never be superior to fiberoptic cable, but there isn't any in my area. Further, the business model of DigitalPath is far superior to that of Comcast (who would probably throttle traffic even if they had fiberoptic cables). Besides, in wide-flung regions, there is nothing else that can bring Internet to remote places. My house is wired for cable, DSL, satellite, and wireless. After trying them all, DigitalPath wireless is the only way to go. Oh yeah, I did get customer service after only 5 min on the phone (on a weekend, at that!). He spent a lot of time patiently working with me while I ranted and raved, only to find out that I hadn't plugged in a cable all the way. (After I did it worked perfectly). It isn't always the service guy's fault. Lastly, DigitalPath has hotspots all over the area. Since I refuse to pay $60/month for 3G/4G network access through my cell phone, the ability to connect with my login ID through a DigitalPath hotspot is a great way to enable a wireless connection when I'm out and about. read more

We had the DigitalPath ("DP" - DISAPPEARING PATH) experience for over two years... in two locations with three accounts - one business service at home and two business services at our commercial location. At both locations we experienced a frustrating fiasco of bi-weekly dropped signals (sometimes daily), rebooting their system, being on telephone "ignore" while waiting for a tech to fix their system and restore our service (I've come to know their taped "how-to-reboot-their system-by yourself" messages, "you are now number caller number 5" and static music by heart - as a sing along). To their credit... when you finally reached "tech support"... those folks were always helpful and - extremely sympathetic! When there were billing issues... and there were many, two out of five could be taken care of with one call - the rest had to be resolved by a "supervisor" who never returned your call. Persistently calling and re-calling them would finally produce the desired results. Overall... I would spend about 4 hours (average or more - I kept call records) per month on the phone pursuing issues with their services. The final point of departure began on a Thursday afternoon, August 9th ... the service went down at our home business location... it took 3 hours for them to restore it and by the next morning - the service had disappeared again. I called tech support as soon as they were available and waited 1 hour and 32 minutes on "IGNORE"... only to find that the service had been interrupted by a utility power failure, which was not a problem with their system. When I asked when service would be restored... they said, "about an hour" - three hours later, still no service. I called again, waiting 1 hour and 48 minutes this time, and was told the utility outage was restored, but their field techs were booked up for the day with installations... could not attend to restoring the system until Monday morning (I was told their field techs are not authorized to work weekends)... and it would be Tuesday or Wednesday of the next week before my service could be fully restored because of the high number of customer outages to repair. This event caused the END of my long-time patience and experience with DP! On Sunday - August 12 (4pm), another provider (CC) had my new service installed... up and running - and at 3 times+ the Up/Down load speed. After a week of uninterrupted service, I had them install their business internet and telephone service (bye.. bye AT&T, another SWEET ending experience) at our commercial location (taking the place of 2 services with DP). CC was able to combine these services and guarantee that our phone and merchant machines would work properly(DP would not)... they work great. Since then... We've enjoyed UNINTERRUPTED service - OH... JOY what a RELIEF!!! read more

I have been a digitalpath customer for 3 months now & i live in the Boon Docks aka in the middle of nowhere and even though my expectations were very low just because I had hughes.net and wild blue in the past and both services promised me speeds i never got and they charged me a ridiculous price for limited usage every month, but digitalpath was different, here is how it went. I called and spoke to a sales rep by the name of Janette and 1st of all she wasn't in another country! She was actually in Chico, ca everything sounded to good to be true to be honest with you guys, but she had me sold on the up to 6 mbps plan for about $55 a month in a matter of minutes I really liked the faCt that they dont tack on tons of hidden fees like everyone else. i flinched at the installation fee because it seemed a bit high, but I couldn't believe that they do free service calls and they didn't make me buy the equipment that would really do me no good if i moved somewhere else. She helped me weigh my options, she understood my budget and offered me monthly payments on the installation fee and treated me like a real person, she understood my needs and answered my questions truthfully. I signed up for the service and she gave me a date and time with a 2 hour window so I wouldn't have to wait around all day. I called her back with questions a couple of days later and it was nice to be able to talk to the same person again. ( talk about excellent local customer service) I was still skeptical about this because i had been lied to so many times before by the big corporations. The installer got to my house on time, he was very friendly and informative, he did a site inspection first and verified a good signal and he put the antenna exactly where I wanted it. He re-iterated my 30 day 100% money back guarantee and I signed my 1 year contract. THE END RESULT: Amazing!!! the speeds are up to 6mbps, I am constantly getting at least 4.8mbps and sometimes i get up to 7 mbps, I can watch netflix movies, vpn to my work and my teenagers can play world of warcraft without screaming at their computer screen! My wife loves getting her bills on line and being able to send in a check every month instead of Giving them a card number.This is not your standard INTERNET, these guys are great. Worst customer service ever! Unfortunately I have been with this pathetic excuse for a company for several years. Things were going okay in the beginning. Then about a year ago, they told us they updated their equipment service was going to improve and they raised our rates. I was okay with the rate increase if things were going to improve. Well they didn't. It was all down hill from there. They clearly oversold their product and they couldn't keep up with demand. Every evening around 8:00 we would have to walk away from the computer to let a simple page load. I called tech support way more times than I care to admit. It never helped. They always told me they would work on it and call me back. I rarely received calls back. When they did call back, the answer was always the same. " It appears the problem is on our side. We will send someone to the area to fix it soon". The speed and connection issues have increased dramatically over the last three months or so. Speed problem occur throughout the day, and I'm talking less than 256 kbs. It's always dropping service as well. The problem never got fixed after many months. So I asked to speak to a supervisor. Of course one was not available. So, guess what? They would call me back, ya right! I have called at least 5 times over a course of six months and still no call from a supervisor. Go figure. I finally got one on the phone when I called to complain about the terrible connection again. I must have snuck up on him. Because he was the one that answered the tech support line. This jacka** told me I was liar, there is no problem in our area and never has been. I asked for a reduced rate because the service I was receiving was certainly reduced. He flat out said no. After talking to other customers in the small town we live in I found out many others were having similar issues. Apparently, someone at digital path told a neighbor of mine " We don't need you people in Calpine". Another, neighbor had his equipment removed from his house and was told "apparently we can't provide service to your satisfaction". This is bull****! In the small town of Calpine, their is no other service provider that can provide reasonable speeds. So we are stuck with these jerks, and at full rates at that. So, don't think they will treat you any better. They are treating an entire community like garbage and can careless about many customers that helped them grow. read more

The only reason why I have not quit Digital Path's internet service is because it's a monopoly in the area I moved into unless I want satellite internet. I have tried to combat the worst customer service I've ever had with any company... to no avail! (By the way, if you get a tier 0 technician named Brian RIP.... I've had the pleasure of speaking with him twice, or not speaking!!!? Actually he talks a lot, just not with YOU!!!! It's always with his buddies, either going home after their shift, or on his CELLPHONE!!!? When you get a hold of Brian he manages to stay silent, until one of those two things previously mentioned happen, then after some minutes like 8 or 9 of talking with his friends he says "I'm sorry for the wait I hope I did not cause any inconvenience?" I answered, "Yes you did!". Both times I should not forget to mention that the other reviews on wait times being 30mins are completely accurate! Brian can't help with issues ever, while others only can RARELY.... like 1 out of 60. But that is probably generous. I would Pray for a tier 2 technician, only one has ever gotten results for me though.) Moving on, I've called in countless times because of consistent problems with latency and upload speeds. My wife is a photographer and needs upload speeds to work. I like to play video games so having a consistent latency would be nice, but I have learned this is a impossibility for digital path since I have even upgraded to the business basic package and the problems just got worse, so I degraded service.... and revived a improvement?!.... Going back to my old speeds! Don't ask me how that's possible? OH! you know what maybe it's because people like Brian get hired to work there! Well I hope some other wireless ISP's moves into my area then I can give them a try. Even though next year I'm sure I will have satellite ISP anyways so my wife can work. Here is my experience with DigitaltPath's garbage - REDBLUFF, CA - Brand new PC with the works - Plan: $54/month 3-6 mbs (more like 1.2 mbs average) - Customer service total calls: 6 to date 1) Dont count on EVER enjoying online games anymore 2) It will take you like 2 DAYS to download anything larger than a 1.5hr movie 3) streaming will consistantly suck 4) if u have a wireless network with multiple computers just dont bother 5) dont have tall trees or they will block the 7 foot eye sore of an antenna's already pathetic signal 6) dont go online if there is a gental breeze because thats all it takes to knock you offline 7) (not my personal experience really) But If you are a small business owner in the area that depends on digitaltrash beware...I couldnt buy a coffee with my card because the wind disrupts the connection required by card readers. 8) When you call customer support get use to hearing things like, "well, you live in the country" and my favorite "have you tried reseting your modem?" 9) Want that premium speed? Well tough titties, because you pretty much need to get bit by a freakin vampire.... the only time the internet will work is between 1am and 4am - I pray to God that this company sinks under the wieght of its lies. - $54 bucks a month for a service that doesnt work more than 20% of the day is pure rape. - Lord please let the ground from under DigitalPath HQ open up long enough for hell to reclaim its bastard child. I had major issues with the local telephone company (which in Colusa County has a monopoly and is allowed to block all competitive wired telecommunication competition). No way was I going to give them the benefit of my finances for Internet service. So I went with satellite for way to long. When I found DigitalPath, I discovered how much I was being ripped by the orbiting birds with their FAP caps and tremendous fees. DigitalPath has NO CAPS - HALF, 50% less for a package greater than the satellite offers. No Joke!! Quality of their service... I went on-line with DigitalPath for the "first 30 day - money back guarantee - no questions asked". I started with my first group of speed tests... 3150, 4286, 3874 mbps download!!! Then the big one where I see a lot of others fail big time,,, upload speeds.. 1274, 1092, 1138 mbps!!! Then for the techies, ping test. Past with flying colors, 92%!! The speed and dependability, fantastic!!! Customer Service... To be honest, I only had to use customer service twice since I've been aboard for the last 3 months. Once to deal with a credit card number error, which "I" made during delivery to them. They were kind, courteous and professional. Then the other dealing with a major power outage in my town. Once the juice was back on, they had my issue dealt with and completed in 10 minutes... Here is my deal....my only other internet option is dial up through AT&T and that, my friends, sucks. Every which way - dial up service in this age of technology is like monkeys swinging from tree to tree, delivering a banana to your location. Think about it, than consider that, although DigitalPath may not be perfect in an imperfect world,.... it sure is way better than some other options! It seems the ones who grumble the most, expect exotic results and already own all the newest and coolest electronic toys that money can buy. And if their workplace has fantastic computer service and speeds, they expect the same in their home. Realistically, it doesn't work that way. There are many reasons why internet service provided by any one company will not work as well as expected . Just a few....weather, acts of God (or whatever entity you believe in), sun spots, radiation surges, polar shifts, fracking, and human beings.. Cell phones are going to be more efficient, that is the technology. Although I do get internet connection in some areas, where there is no cell reception ... go figure? I am pleased with DigitalPath for the most part. Customer service is polite and professional, technical service is respectful and helpful, and the internet speed is acceptable. I am not asking for the moon, just internet speed that takes place in minutes, instead of days. For those of you who are unhappy with this company ... go back to dial up! read more

Dustin is awesome! I had a very great experience today with a technician that came out to my house to fix some equipment issues causing all kinds of latency & bandwidth lags. Dustin actually spent 40 mins trying to find my house and he didn't give up - due to my error of not notifying my neighbors in my rural area. Nevertheless, he still managed to get out here and install a bunch of new equipment as my equipment was obsolete, and with complete transparency - he showed me the signal from the dish to the larger dish, the signal from the dish to my power outlet, and then the signal from my PoE adapter as well. After he was finished, he even had me verify with speedtest that he had improved the connection here. I am truly impressed by Dustin's work ethic and hope it doesn't go unnoticed as he just left my house as it is now dark outside, because he efficiently got the cables and mounting equipment going along with my new dish. After he finished, my latency/ping is now a SINGLE DIGIT and it's never been that fast in the last few years... Thanks Dustin and Digital Path! Prior to becoming a customer, I read the reviews and not too many were positive. Most people only write when they are upset. So, this review is of HOW EXCELLENT DigitalPath is! I've been a customer a little over a year, I am in a very remote area surrounded by trees and mountains. DigitalPath was the only provider who could connect me. The installation was amazing, super nice team. They explained everything they did, they ensured my connection to the repeater was strong (I'm not using the correct term) but the box is in a tree that I point to. My internet is strong, and doesn't fail. All ISP will have its intermittent connectivity, any rare occasion that mine does its only for a moment. Once I was completely down, spoke to customer support and they were AWESOME. I believe if you understand what your needs are, (how much data you really need) how many devices you'll be connecting and when, understand the technology used by DigitalPath, (like some factors may cause disruptions) you should have a great experience. All ISP's are expensive, and they all have something that someone doesn't like, DigitalPath sales should be able to work with you to find the right package to fit your budget and meet your needs. read more

Never, ever get DigitalPath. We had them for three years and it was an utter nightmare. Where we live there are few options as far as internet so we had no choice. It worked for maybe a month or two then stopped working right. In three years we only got what we were paying for, for one week. The speeds are all over the place and very inconsistent. We ended up calling tech support once or twice a week. In the end they fazed us out with their new 6 Gen equipment and we have 3rd Gen. They upgraded the whole tower and left us high and dry. Their website claims they help people in rural areas connect to the internet and you can live where you want and still be connected. Nope that is a lie cause we are not that remote and got the worst service ever and almost not much better than dial up some days. NOPE...we are DONE!!! Today is a happy day we have NEW INTERNET, and ditched DigitalPath and soooooo happy we did. We now are getting what we are paying for and that is something we never got with DigitalPath. My internet was down when I got home last week, which meant I had no phone since both my home phone and cell service go through my internet. I drove up to where I had reception and called in. Shawn took my call and tried for maybe 20-30 minutes to reset my antennae to no avail. I let him know this was a safety concern for my children as they would be home alone with no phone available. He understood and told me to explain that to the folks who would schedule a service call with me. I went home disappointed but I felt Shawn had given it his best effort. About an hour later, my internet came back on and Shawn was calling me to let me know he had continued to work on it until he was able to fix it. Today digital path showed up during the timeframe specified. The service tech named Dustin Silkwood was not only knowledgeable.... he is ethical.. He towed the line making sure the speeds equated with what plan I had hoped for. We had some good laughs as he was a trustworthy source of info yet personable and kind. He even educated me on some wires that would help because some current day laptops have only HDMI and USB ports if I wanted to roll with only a hardline connection. He stated the company line making sure that i knew any products of connectivity were not the company's focus obviously and that doing my own due diligence in research is recommended because each customer has their own needs etc. None the less after stating these fair and honest disclaimers he was open to talking with the caveat stated above. With the option of only have one service to use for internet, DigitalPath was a blessing in disguise when I found them. I refused to be part of the crowd that used the horrible service from MediaCom. A small monopoly for the town of Clearlake, Cobb, and Middletown CA. DigitalPath is located in Chico,CA and has a tower set up on Mt Konocti that I was lucky enough to receive the highest service offered Gen7. If your from any of these small towns listed, I urge you to reach out and see if you can receive a signal from that tower and start your new service with them today. Contrary to other reviewers we have great signal strength, knowledgable CS and troubleshooting anytime we call, inexpensive repairs done as fast as possible. Yesterday was a great example: Someone at our placed hit the antenna cable with a weed eater. We called for repair appt. at 1:30 p.m. and were told it was a week out. I phoned back about an hour later and Scheduling responded to our pleading to get someone WAY sooner. Within an hour they had someone committed to driving 1.5 hrs each way for us! The tech , Billy Shaw, managed to fix it well enough to get us through the week! We are forever thankful. Internet signal in remote areas is tricky. For us and most of our neighbors DP works very well. They are SO great on the CS end as well. I highly recommend.. the only way you will know if it will work for you is to try it out. read more

The internet service itself seems ok for the most part although still have inconsistent speeds. It was doing better when it was first installed but now gradually has gotten slower. The main reason I am writing this review is because their customer service is horrible. The wait time to talk to someone is extremely long, the hours are not very accessible as they close after 8pm weekdays and are not open weekends. The worst experience I have had was trying to get a static IP address setup, they said they would install it and then never called me back to let me know it was complete and the proper IP address. They also never called me back when I requested to cancel the IP address after not needing it anymore. Really bad communication for an ISP. If I had another option I would definitely look elsewhere. read more

I've been with DigitalPath for some years now, with varied satisfaction. The biggest problem is my Oregon House home in the woods and hills, even with the dish in a tall pine the Gen 6 service was spotty and getting worse. Gen 7 couldn't be connected. Through it all the service techs took my calls and in a pleasant manner did some tweaks that would bring back a workable speed. But the fixes would only last so long before they would hear from me again. I've been on Gen 8 for several months now, and it is wonderful! The service is reliable with only a couple of outages that lasted only a few minutes, and the speed averages around 40mbps. The billing office has always been friendly and polite, as was tech support, and now DigitalPath has a top rate product for my rural area. read more

I have had about enough of digital path's services, or lack there of. We have been using their services for about three months and I have called in about four times to try to get some help or answers and it seems like after holding for an average of twenty minutes, they are able to get my speeds up to a reasonable level for about a day, and then it is right back to barely functioning again. I am paying for 6 mbps and right now I am at 0.398 mbps download and 0.61 mbps upload. I am thinking that I might as well go with dial up. I noticed that their sales guy makes a habit of replying to these ads ensuring that they are providing a great service, but unfortunately in my experience, this has not been the case. For $60/ month I am expecting just a little bit more. read more
