I reached out to Nerds on Call, spoke to an agent, and they immediately canceled my subscription. I also went into the store and spoke to the tech who signed me up, and he was very understanding. He listened, he was very courteous, and he responded emphatically and offered a refund! The next day, I got a call from Jeremy, and I was told that the company approved the refund for the entire amount! He told me when they sign us up, we have to call to cancel the subscription. The receipt has that in writing. Because I did not call, it auto-renewed. I did not feel like he was putting blame on me, but I will admit fault for not following up with the company after the 30 day trial. I just wish they would offer the subscription instead of signing people up for it automatically. But I am very happy to hear that my situation was resolved. In the past I've never had a problem with Nerds. They are changing their service, pay extra and you are taken to the head of the line. Keep regular service and you wait. I called at 8:01 this morning and was told someone would call me back. Well here it is 3 1/2 hours later and I'm still waiting. I've been a customer for years but if this continues I will look elsewhere for help. This is not fair to the customers who stayed with your business throughout the years. Right now I could not recommend your business. I owe Nerds an apology, they said they had reached out to me and my phone went to voice mail. I didn't receive the voice mail but had been having problems either my phone. So I will take back my criticism and continue with this service. After clearing up some miscommunication I upped my stars to 3. They need update and fix some things such as face book and google showing that they are open on Mondays when in fact it just their call center that is open. The website shows the correct hours. To be honest, I didn't actually have them do any work. I merely called for a bid. My two year old accidentally broke my Kindle Fire HD screen yesterday. I called them to get a bid to fix the screen. $249. Yep, you read that right, $249. The cost to buy a brand new Kindle Fire HD with 32GB (the best one) is $229. Hmmm. Why would I pay more to repair a screen than I would to buy a new one? Just my thoughts. read more

This place charges $99 for a "diagnostic" on your device. I paid $99. to be told that my laptop charger was no longer working. I thought "ok, fair enough. I just need a new charger. Good to know " I stopped over at Chico Computer Clinic at 1450 Mangrove to see if they sold chargers for Apple (Nerds does not) the fellas at CCC were appalled that I had been charged for the diagnostic, as they do them for FREE. They even showed me exactly how easy it is to run myself. What a rip off Nerds on Call is! I'm going to Chico Computer Clinic from now on! read more

We have been paying for the Nerds on Call service monthly for several months and have hardly used it. This 5 to 6th month we have been experiencing slowness in accessing email, the internet and logging in to an online class. We connected to Nerds on call today for help wit the slowness. It was just barely a few minutes ago remotely controlled by a Nerds rep, so I have not had much time to review how much better it is. The rep advised that giving a review on Yelp would get us 1 free month of service, and since it is $25 per month I thought that would be nice to get 1 free month. I have only had a chance to check email and connect to internet which seems to be faster then it was before the call. My husband will be online soon for his online class so that should tell us if it has fixed the slowness issues he was having. read more

These guys are AWESOME! I have gotten my money back in "repair-savings" many times over. I am an AUTHOR and my computer is my vehicle that I use at least 6 hours a day. Also, I live in the foothills, so I save even more time and money with this service. They can fix MOST everything remotely. They "clean" and speed up my PC on a regular basis, install new programs, help me with problems I have "within" the programs (WORD, Grammarly, Dragon, etc.) and give sound advice. Last night I did something (when deleting emails) that messed up my OUTLOOK and now it won't open this morning. I am totally confidant that I can leave my home and keep my hair appointment in town and come back to everything working.... SWEET! And they sometimes call to make sure everything is working and I am happy. I DO recommend this service. This past week was my first experience with Nerds on Call. I can honestly say that I was thoroughly impressed throughout the entire process. Everything from making my initial appointment to a less than 48 hour turnaround time, was both impressive and painless. I was completely convinced that I had destroyed yet another laptop, but my technician David got in there and fully restored my system! I would highly recommend them for the free diagnostic program alone, but the satisfaction and service I received definitely added to my experience. I brought my laptop into nerds on call because my macbook screen would freeze and white out depending on the angle of the screen. I dealt with the problem for two months and found out that the problem is related to pinched wire in the back of the machine. I have never taken apart a computer. So I took the computer into nerds on call, explained the problem and told them what I thought was wrong with it and how to fix it. ONE MONTH LATER they magically 'fixed' the problem accidentally they believe, or else they say, nothing is wrong with my computer. I'm extremely upset with their service. I told them what was wrong, a fix which would have required 1-2 hours max, and it took them four fucking weeks. You have to be kidding me. In addition, they sent my machine down to Sac where there are more 'expert' techs. But, these technicians have been HORRIBLE at getting back to me, staying in contact etc. I went two weeks without a word from them. I had to call them on multiple occassions to receive an update, not the other way around. In addition, the most recent time I called, I found out that my machine was already en route to me...STILL NO WORD FROM THE TECHNICIAN. I refuse to pay for any more than 1-2 hours of work on my machine because of the awful customer service, and faulty, if not ill-trained, so called 'nerds.' read more

I went online for a quote for my loud laptop fan and the person I spoke to on the website told me I could go in to get a free diagnostic, but had to call to set an appointment. When I called, the person I spoke with told me they would have to run all kinds of complex procedures that would cost me $154. My laptop is over 4 years old, so granted this could be a variety of problems, but through my research I have been led to assume that this is simply too much dust in my fan. This is a simple problem that can be fixed with a screwdrivers and air compressor. I only need their assistance because I do not trust myself opening up my laptop. $50 would be doable, $75 would be a stretch, but maybe still manageable, but $154? That is just insane. And in another review, someone said that they charge an additional $25 to ship it because they cannot do most repairs in town? I'd rather take my chances doing the repair myself, thanks. read more

NERDS always come to my rescue ASAP and fixes everything I've often messed up myself. I am on Wi-fii connection only (second on the system) and service is often slow. NERDS hang in there with me and always, always fix what is needed and teach me during the process. I'm always confident when I turn my computer over to them to fix programs, etc., and the texting back and forth is very helpful. I'm on yearly contract with them and it's definitely worth it for me. I am an older person with a lack of understanding on some things computer, so I may benefit more than others. read more

I have an old desktop that cost enough for me to want to get long use out of it. I have been with Nerds on Call for a while now and they have been able to keep my computer running in great shape. I especially like the option of online help, and use it whenever I get stuck, I used it today with a printer/scan problem and Jeremy V. helped me.. All the techs are friendly, and not condescending. I have computer knowledge but not savvy and this service is perfect for me. And if they can't fix a problem right away, they will diligently work on the issue until it is resolved. I've had this service for about two and a half years. It started with a virus that locked up my PC and threatened to destroy my system. I took it in and they kept my PC for two days. They fixed the problem for about $200 which for me was worth every penny. I subscribe to the service because I don't have the knowledge or close resources to help with tech issues and again it has been worth every penny. First I have piece of mind. Secondly, anytime I have a question or problem I can connect with Nerds and they respond within seconds. I can get advice, instruction, a quick fix, or a two hour tune up and it is all included in my subscription. If one tech can't find the problem another tech can.
