Ordered through Doordash. No idea if it's better in person, but my joojeh chicken wrap was super drippy and dripped on my clothes. Baklava is one of my favorite desserts, but the flaky pastry portion was pretty tough and hard, and came straight off the pistachio layer. The chicken pieces in the wrap were nice and chunky, that was the best part of it. Usually Doordash orders would at least include utensils and napkins in the bag it's delivered in. My order had no napkins included. Despite the mess, it was tasty and satiating. But I don't think I'll order from here again. read more

I really wanted to like Didar Persian Cuisine. They're part of East Bay Eats, a ghost kitchen setup, and I try to support new businesses. Plus, I was craving Persian food, specifically a solid kubideh. Their reviews were good, but their kubideh and chicken plate was over $20+. Persian food is usually on the pricier side, but spending that much on a lunch plate feels excessive. So, I went with the kubideh wrap for $13 which price-wise was more palatable. It came with a side salad and seemed like a good value. It took a little longer than expected, which was fine. But the flavor wasn't there, and I was hoping for the depth of flavor I get from South Bay favorites like Yas in SJ. I unwrapped the whole thing just to taste the kubideh on its own, but it was bland. Like plain ground beef. I had to use the salt and pepper from my utensils packet to give it something, unfortunately. On the bright side, the salad, a Persian-style cucumber and tomato mix, was excellent. The lavash was soft and fresh, and the other ingredients were solid. But the kubideh, the star of the show, was underseasoned. For me, kubideh is the test of a Persian spot. If that's lacking, I'm not coming back. Maybe they had an off day, but based on what I had, it just didn't hit. read more

Food ready in 18 minutes. Difficulties encountered remedied by associate at pick up station. No directions on kiosk. Bites: Baghali Polo with Lamb Shank special (22) -kitchen time spent reheating/warming edibles. The slow cooking of lamb shank itself takes an hour.. -lamb meat pieces literally falling off the bone deliz. The sauces at bottom from the juices from the lamb shank. -prominent ingredients of onions, garlic, cinnamon, tumeric, cardamom, nutmeg, salt not individually tasted. The complex sauce luxurious. *basil leaves & jalepeno added more nuance to sauce. Jalepeno wasn't overly spicy -the saffron, fava bean & dill weed flavored basmatic rice & accompanying pita bread help soak up the lamb shank sauces. Alternating taking a lamb bite, then a scoop of rice or dipping pita bread or rice with the sauces. 4.5 stars..best to eat asap. Traveled well. A short distance. Not true to Persian cuisine, beware! Food tastes edible, but NOT Persian. -Koobideh Kabob was made with beef, not lamb, and was burned/dry. No sumac was given in to-go order. Side grilled tomatoes are usually a treat, these were unripe and dry. -Rice is NOT made with saffron, rather safflower or turmeric (cheaper replacements). No perfume of saffron in the rice, and when you say 'saffron rice' you'd better use it! -Khoresht e Bademjan vegetarian was just chunks of undercooked eggplant, in sauce. Tastes nothing like others we've had in good Persian restaurants (Shalizaar, Negeen, Alborz) or made at home. Where are the lentils? Where is the rich flavor you'd expect? -Mast o Musir is supposed to be shallot yogurt. It is best made with Labneh or strained yogurt rather than thin yogurt. This was made with white onion, not shallot, and thin yogurt. Not good. If there is one thing I want in this part of the bay, it's a good Persian restaurant. Didar, I want you to do better, please! I was drawn to this place by lamb shank. The place is like a post office. Order food in the front and there are 15 kitchens in the back cooking different foods owned by different owners. I was first introduced to Persian food about 35 years ago when an Iranian friend had a birthday celebration at a restaurant in Little Italy of San Francisco. Go figure! I remember the aromatic spices of cinnamon, garlic, coriander, the smell of grilled meats permeating from the kitchen and being served a plate of fresh herbs, with dried fruit, nuts, green olives, feta with some thin bread...and getting a dish of pomegranate chicken. Wonderful culinary memory! Since that time, I've tried many Persian restaurant with one being Didar Persian in Concord. The location has since closed, but re-opened in a different format. No longer a brick-and-mortar, dine in experience but offering takeout/delivery from East Bay Eats, foodhall/ghost kitchen located in Downtown Hayward I had called the restaurant to place an order but was told to place my order at the ghost kitchen kiosk or place thru DoorDash. I was a bit confused so the owner was nice enough to say he would take my order, get it started but be sure to order and pay via the kiosk so I didn't have to wait. Basically, payment is collected via the app. COMBO KEBAB Jujeh (chicken, white meat) & Koobideh (beef) kabob with generous amount of saffron rice and a grilled tomato - The chicken was a tad dry which is expected with white meat when not eaten right away. Rice was perfectly cooked and the spiced ground beef kebab was flavorful and delicious. LAMB SHANK Super tender, moist, fall-off-the-bone delicious. The saffron rice was fluffy was mixed with fresh dill and fava - delicious EGGPLANT MIRZA GHASEMI Smoked eggplant mixed with minced garlic served with a side of mint, cilantro, sliced radish, green olives along with lavash. Instead you get a bag of 10 mint leaves, two small pieces of slightly pickled persian cucumbers, and 10 thin pieces of flat bread. Overall, tasty, but not something i need to repeat when i can eat afghan, or am so close to fiji bbq food truck, and also can try so many other options at east bay eats. Speaking of east bay eats, it is a small space with 6 tables that barely fit 16 people, and 6 stools facing a window, and 2 kiosk screens to order, and a window size hole in the wall for someone to quietly say "order for YOURname". Yes, about 7 restaurants serving via 1 window hole, and you have to order and pay one place at a time. Better to order online. Not return for this food. Been craving for a koobideh quite awhile now. One night we went to a party of a friend and they served koobideh! Couple days after, I was still craving for it lol So I decided to look up closeby our area and found this since it's the one that first popped up. ! I didn't realize that it was a cloud kitchen. It's called east-bay eats. There were like another 5-6 companies/resto that share with them in the building. And just so you know it is not a typical restaurant that you walk in and dine in. Well, there's 3-4 small tables and you can still sit and eat but that's about it. They are just there so you can have a seat and wait and it also if you just ordered from their kiosk right at that moment. It is mainly for togo or takeout. I did order the Koobideh and the Fesenjan w chicken. It was my first time ordering and tasting Fesenjan. Looking to taste and get more familiar with Persian dishes so I decided to get this one because my husband loves chicken and something with sauce. Fesenjan is a Persian chicken stew made with chicken breasts or thighs that are slowly cooked with ground toasted walnuts and pomegranate molasses. We have been eating some other cuisines like Indian, Mediterranean, Afgan etc.... koobideh and joojeh and that's all we know of Persian cuisine so this Fensejan is a little bit different. It has a mild flavor not too sweet, not salty either. We expected something saltier or more savory but i think it is an acquired taste. You eat with a thin bread that they provided and mint leaves. Im not saying it's bad but it takes about 3-4 bites before I appreciated the flavor and it's good in fairness. It's just not something that you'll go crazy on the first bite and I think it's too pricey for $20 since I only saw like 3-4 small pcs of chicken in there. Their Koobideh is good and also $20 for 2 skewers w rice. Their small shirazi salad is $8. A little bit pricey. We have another Persian restaurant nearby our place so Im gonna have to try it so I can compare too. Will give another update or review on here when I come back and try their other dishes. I love supporting small businesses in our community and I want to be fair with everyone. We ordered beef kabobs from this location, and it was a great decision, Beef kobideh 's size is 30 cm to 35 cm for 7$. Joojeh kabob was breast only , juicy and fresh, well spiced. This place is delicious. We order the Ghormei Sabzy on a regular basis and it's delicious every time. My only recommendation is that they add a bit more meat to it, but the overall flavor is delicious. If you're new to Persian food, you might love the food! But, for folks with lots of experience the food was very mild. They could use more saffron in the recipes. I'm accustomed to more flavorful dishes. Rice was great, but my chicken kabobs were a too dry and the ghormeh sabzi was tasty but the portion size was small for the price, it was the appetizer though. I hope they add chicken koobideh to the menu, because the beef koobideh did look yummy/juicy, but I prefer chicken. I'll come back to try the fesenjoon one day.... When I want something in Hayward. It's a take-out experience but they do offer tables on site where my sister and I ate. The service was good, the guy working behind the counter was professional and friendly. Bad business and customer experience. Here's why. On Friday evening I drove up to this cloud kitchen and placed the order for a kabab combo plate, a salad and a Fesenjan Vegetarian. As I was trying this place for the first time I confirmed with the guy at the front that in Fesenjan everything is indeed fully vegetarian dish, as my wife is strictly vegetarian. Later at night, around 9.30 pm when we opened the box to enjoy the dinner, we realized that the Fesenjan dish given to us is a chicken version. I tried a spoon to be sure. SO there was no food for my wife except the watery Shirazi salad. So the next day ie Saturday I took the box for proof and went to the restaurant asking for a refund. They took the box, consulted in the kitchen and straight away refused it. Why ? They said that I didn't come down the last night itself to return!! Ridiculous reason !!! Google Maps and Yelp says the Didar restaurant closes at 8PM. Naturally I won't try to drive for 30 mins again to return that box at 10PM. And the guy also argued that the counter is open toll 10PM. How is a customer is supposed to know about it when all the leading sites show you are closed at 8PM. I paid $17 for this dish and was a total waste. There was not a single apology from the representative at the counter or the kitchen !!! They did offer me that they can remake the vegetarian dish. But I didn't want that food on Saturday as I was heading for a dinner somewhere else. We bought the dish on Friday and wanted to have it on that evening !!! How is replacing it on a different going to work. I don't even know why did I even tip 15% on the bill up front as their customer experience was catastrophically poor. Neither the kitchen nor the guy at the counter helped me when I needed too. Service was abysmal !!! Taste of the food ---------------------------- As I said above, I tried the Fesenjan with a spoon to check if it was vegetarian and I must say I am never going to recommend this dish to anyone. I love pomegranates but this dish had a extremely overpowering taste of pomegranate (and probably a lot of sumac too). The Joojeh Chenjeh Kabab combo tasted fine. It can definitely be shared by 2 persons. The Shirazi salad was all watery. And is not at all worth $8 !!! They also gave a bunch of lavash bread but it didn't come with any yoghurt sauce. So was kind of dry altogether. We Have had Persian in multiple places in and around bay area and this seems to be overpriced for the quality of food and service. read more

Really disappointed in the food from here. I ordered joojeh (chicken) kebob with zereshk polo (barberry rice), masto musir (yogurt), and tahdig. The rice was very bland with barberries thrown on top (not cooked together like it should be). The chicken didn't taste fresh at all. And the tahdig was inedible. There aren't many Persian options in the area so I was really excited to check this place out. But I will not be returning. read more

Since my favorite Persian restaurant in Fremont closed, I've been on the lookout for a new restaurant. There are some excellent restaurants in Walnut Creek but I was delighted to learn that this little gem is in my backyard. They only do take out, but the food is well prepared, the portions are generous and the food is ready when promised. Didar is the best Persian food I have had in the Bay Area! Yes, in the entire Bay Area. They have the best Kabob Koobideh (ground beef skewer) and chicken kebobs. The marination on the chicken kebobs is out of this world. The Kashk-e-bademjoon could be better, but we always order kebobs and are consistently overjoyed with the flavors and mixture of the ground beef kebob. I noticed some people complained about the bland food here; they are not Persian. Lol. You should have grown up with this cuisine to understand and appreciate the flavors and spices used in the Persian-style kebobs. Kebobs are the most popular food in the Middle East, and every country has its recipes for kebobs. You should never compare Persian kebobs to any other country's and blame it on the business owner. Didar makes 'the best' kebobs, and we will continue supporting them. We are also glad they have come to the East Bay. East Bay really needed a Persian restaurant. Thanks, Didar team, for serving us. Didar was previously located in Concord many years ago. They used to have a large restaurant and banquet hall. We used to go there often. When they closed the Concord location, I was very disappointed. I recently heard that they reopened in Hayward, so I was excited to try them out again after so many years. Unfortunately, they are not the same Didar that I fondly remembered. The chicken and koobideh kabobs were both dry and not flavorful. The rice was not as fluffy and buttery as it used to be. They didn't provide any butter or onions to accompany the lavash bread, nor did they provide a sufficient amount of sumac. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

Ordered dinner for delivery last night and WOW! The Ada's Polo Ba. Morgh was delicious and just what I'd hoped. Slightly sweet and well-spiced saffron rice mixed with lentils and nicely cooked chicken. My daughter's choice of Fasenjen with chicken was great, and the Tahdig crunchy rice was a perfect addition.
