I had heard about Scheels for years but never stepped inside one. A friend of mine from Minnesota…read moreused to drive past the huge Scheels billboards whenever I visited, and for some reason I assumed it was more of a farm supply type place where people bought machinery and work clothes. Because of that completely wrong assumption, I never bothered to go in. Fast forward a few years and after reading the reviews here in Colorado I finally decided I had to see it for myself. Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. Scheels isn't just a sporting goods store. It's an experience.

Colorado gifts, Denver broncos, nuggets, and avalanche collectibles. Hunting, fishing, guns, ammo, knives, barbecue supplies, a sportsman's dream come true. I was blown away by the customer service, kindness, and kindness professionalism of these owner-operators. I just wish it were a little closer to my house.

I'm so frustrated and disappointed in this store. I don't shop sporting goods stores very often…read moreand when I do it is most often Dick's Sporting Goods in Lone Tree Colorado. That's where I went today to purchase a birthday gift for my wife and it will probably be the last time I shop with them after today. Today was at least the 3rd time that I've purchased an item that was marketed at a significant discount but was rang up at full price. The first two times, I thought it might be simply errors in merchandising and signage. To be clear, I purchased two different sizes of a jacket off of a circular rack that held at least 6 more of the same style and color jackets. The signage on the top of the entire rack clearly said "40% off." I left the store, checked my receipt on the way to the car and returned inside to point out the discrepancy. The sales associate (different from the one that had checked me out) responded by saying "Honestly, these weren't the items on sale." She didn't bother to walk back to the rack to check the signage. She didn't apologize for the conflicting messages. She didn't call a manager to try making the customer happy. I do realize that it is not the sales associate's fault for deceptive signage so I wasn't rude or angry with her. I did keep my purchases (with the intent to return one when I figure out which size is the correct one for the recipient). But, I also did say that this was not the first time I had encountered this "clever but deceptive marketing in this store." And, I'm really tired of Dick's Sporting Goods in Lone Tree, Colorado playing their pricing games. I did double check online after leaving the store. Online the jackets I purchased are still listed at full price so I think I paid the correct price. However, management should verify and keep signage related to pricing current and accurate; and they should also correctly merchandise their stores. The fact that I have encountered this issue at this same store several times should give one pause before shopping here. I also realize that deceptive advertising is not legal and that I could also report this to the Better Business Bureau. I've considered that but decided to just take my business elsewhere.

It is packed with all the essential supplies for the runners from shoes, clothing, suppliers and gears and more. I have been to this location several times and the workers are very attentive every time I walk into this store. Finally bought the necessary running gear that is not sold anywhere else. Walk in and you will be greeted immediately. Clothing are to the left, accessories at the front and middle and shoes to the back right and some more gears. To the left side has the clearance items and if you happen to have that odd sized foot, you might be in for a treat. This location carries all the cool and newest running gears that you need. I will be back to get the "On" shoes I have been eyeing on. Maybe the new Nike that is hard to find else where. Its sad to see some of the small stores that have faded away but glad to see this one so close to me. Keep on running.. wearing chicken leg running wear?

While I had good luck with the staff and selection at the Colorado Boulevard Runner's Roost location many years ago, I now live closer to this Foxfield location, so I went there. All of the shoes they sell are good quality, and they certainly sell them at a large markup. I think that's OK if you have a knowledgeable salesperson. I did not. It made for a bad outcome, and now I'm stuck with $150 shoes that don't fit. I don't want to call him out by name, but my salesman didn't know what he was doing. At times, I don't think he could hear or understand me. He just sorta' talked. Honestly, I should have walked out when he measured my 9/9.5 foot as an 11. In retrospect, it was obvious that this wasn't going to end well. He brought out tons of 11's, and then at my request, 10.5 and 10's. I really needed a 9.5. After trying a bunch, I found one pair of 10's that was pretty good and bought it. When he checked the fit, he told me that they were too small and that, "I wouldn't want to run a marathon in them." I wore them around the house for a couple of days to try to make sure they fit, but that's not much of a test. I bought the shoes quickly so that when I walked around Disney World this week, my feet would feel better. The shoes helped with my plantar fasciitis, but they're too big for me, and they give me blisters. Understandably, they don't let you return shoes that are not in new condition, so I'm stuck with them. Some of this is my fault for not walking out of the store immediately, and I did buy the shoes. That said, I'm extremely disappointed with the outcome. To have such a clueless salesperson at an expensive shoe store is ridiculous. Again, their products are available cheaper elsewhere, so the only value the store can provide is quality customer service. Please save your money and go have a better experience somewhere else.
