This review is coming in because of the AMAZING team that works at this location. Everyone was helpful and friendly. I wanna give a very special shout-out to Devo Mireles (Baseball/Softball Manager - 117898). Our daughters both just started competitive travel ball/club teams as opposed to just rec fastpitch softball. We went in looking for a bat that we could afford and that would be durable, and the perfect fit for each of our girl's swing styles. He introduced us to all the bats in stock and let us know that they do have a demo bat program to help with our budget for all the other gear we need! Competive level softball gear adds up quick! Devo took his time and made my girls feel confident in each bat they selected in a doable budget for us. Based on my description of needs, he helped me pick out two handfuls of bats for each girl to go try in the batting cage. He was so patient, and kind! He didn't just sell us bats, he gave my girls very valuable feedback on their batting stances, aim, and body mechanics while swinging. Because of Devo the girls were not nervous to keep trying the bats and didn't get bored with the process. He helped them each find different bats in the perfect sizes and weights for each of them! They also left with some free pointers that will be very helpful this season and educated us parent's, as well. Thank you Devo, you're the man to lead that department for sure.! We will be back to see you, I am sure of it. P.s: Give Devo a raise haha -Jess Case and Jason Case from cheyenne, Wy. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Scheels. Unfortunately, what should have been a normal shopping experience turned into an upsetting and uncomfortable situation because of what I believe was racist treatment. No customer should ever feel judged, discriminated against, or treated differently because of their race, ethnicity, or appearance. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. It is unacceptable for a store to make customers feel unwelcome because of who they are. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and addresses this behavior. I will definitely think twice before shopping at Scheels again. read more

Sporting goods, beef jerky buffet, and dippin dots what more can a boy ask for. I never even heard of this place until I saw all the college kids wearing these strange "scheels" tee shirts at the CSU rams football game and thought, I need to check this place out. Colorado gifts, Denver broncos, nuggets, and avalanche collectibles. Hunting, fishing, guns, ammo, knives, barbecue supplies, a sportsman's dream come true. I was blown away by the customer service, kindness, and kindness professionalism of these owner-operators. I just wish it were a little closer to my house. read more

Scheels - Hunting & Fishing Supplies Near Me - Johnstown, Colorado

Beware! The Concealed Coalition Scheels has partnered with does not make it clear that the live fire portion is miles away in N FOCO! THEN to Scheels where they charge an Additional $28.00! Plus at time of ordering, there is a "pre checked" box that charges you for a holster unless you UN check it! I only found that going over the reciept after the fact! They did refund that but will NOT refund the class fee for a class in 2 places that was NOT disclosed before my purchase! I am 72 years old & don't drive much & live 80 minutes from Scheels as it is. I would NEVER have purchased if the 2nd location had been made known to me in advance. I cannot afford to be scammed but that is how this feels to me. I find this all to be very misleading & dishonest & cannot believe Scheels would be involved with them! read more

I had heard about Scheels for years but never stepped inside one. A friend of mine from Minnesota used to drive past the huge Scheels billboards whenever I visited, and for some reason I assumed it was more of a farm supply type place where people bought machinery and work clothes. Because of that completely wrong assumption, I never bothered to go in. Fast forward a few years and after reading the reviews here in Colorado I finally decided I had to see it for myself. Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. Scheels isn't just a sporting goods store. It's an experience. read more

Unbelievably huge inventory and seriously the best of everything. Customer service is off the charts. Big shoutout to Lucas and Phoebe for patiently helping me find what I needed. read more

I love Scheels... I always find unique things there that I can't find other places, and they always have the best selection of running shoes... But I love the most is that they have enough people to wait on me... Often times you go to some places and there's only one or two people to help. I love that there was a gal who kept checking back with me... But not an annoying way... She was extremely helpful and very quick... They were also running some specials which was incredibly awesome so I got 25% off all of my purchases today... It's also fun to ride the Ferris wheel, but we didn't take time to do that today... We popped into the candy store and bought a bunch of bulk candy for decorating gingerbread houses... That was a nice surprise read more

They are a great store/mall overall, but it's a little too pricey including for me! They had great service even if they knew what I was looking for they would ask how I am. They have everything in the world. read more

I love scheels and this store has a solid mixture of everything you could want and is priced actually cheaper than the cos counterpart I guess they do sales differently. read more

Scheels is a mini Disneyland for adults who love the great outdoors. I attended a great after hours event with vendors, giveaways, a free Yeti Tumbler and a $10 gift card for all attendees. It's hard to fathom how much outdoor gear can be packed into one building. I personally could spend hours here window shopping for all the gear I want but don't need. The customer service has always been top notch both on the phone and in person. They have a lot of great sales and offer a military discount as well. If you haven't been there you need to add it to your bucket list! read more

Customer service and overall store ambience. Good selection of shoes and men's clothing. I also think competitive pricing

They provide amazing bike service. Brought my bike in on 2 occasions and they did the repair as I waited at no charge. Great company!

This place is a sporting goods Disneyland! You could easily spend a good portion of your day here and not have experienced the whole store. There's a ferris wheel, bowling, aquarium, animal musuem, coffee shop, candy shop.... that doesn't even mention all the stuff you can buy! I'm relieved this place is so far from home because I'd come way too often and spend way too much money! Very impressive read more

Scheels is by far my favorite all-sports store. This location is great for shopping or even just wandering around. They have a wide selection of clothing, sports gear, home decor, firearms, and so much more at affordable prices! They have a large ferris wheel, shooting gallery, bowling, and great play area for the kids to burn off some energy! This location has their cafe and candy shop put together which makes it a great spot to grab a treat and quick bite to eat! All of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful when needed. This really is a great place to shop! read more

This place is the holy grail of all outdoor things. I've heard stories about how great it is but seeing g it in person exceeded all expectations. We came for volleyball gear and I literally could've spent hours shopping. So many things I want that I didn't even realize is now on my 'need' list! Electric bike, yeti coolers, new cow boy boots, a small gun for my purse, hiking gear, swim suits, golf clubs, camping gear, lake toys, Stanley colors that we don't already have, and then there is a candy store plus an assortment of beef jerky to choose from. It doesn't get any better than Scheels! Now I understand why my husband has been telling me about this place. We interacted with multiple staff members here and every single one was amazing and happy to help above and beyond. It is clearly a great place to work. Prices were fair and we had a few gift cards to use as well as a coupon so we walked out feeling pretty good about our purchases. Can't wait to go back when we have more time! read more

I go to places and sometimes people seem too sugary and fake for your business. Omg, this place is different. So friendly and knowledgeable. Extremely kind employees. Customer Service is like no other! When I got the new pair of sandals that were shipped to my house, I'd wished I'd bought the bigger size. Called the shoe department who varified they had my size in store. An hour later, I walked in and they were waiting for me down at the customer service desk. The rep that helped me was fun and fast, just like the other reps that I watched for only a few minutes until it was my turn to be helped. GREAT ENERGY IN THIS STORE EVERY.SINGLE.TIME! This is an interesting store. Part sporting goods, part housewares, part shoe store, part apparel and much, much more plus a full functioning Trek bike shop and mini arcade wrapped all into one building. You can literally get all your Christmas shopping done in this one place. A little overwhelming as i got lost a couple times but you can always find the Ferris wheel which isn't always operable. They even have a kids place they can play while you shop for them in their section. All kinds of different clothing options! They definitely have a we love our country vibe which I'm all for. Especially if you want to see some historical presidents. Cause they have those and John Elway! The service was great! I had to track someone down for the dressing room but they came pretty quick. It is a higher price point for all clothing and sporting goods but great quality! read more

Another place that I've recently experienced that honestly I've purposefully avoided because I assumed it was just another Bass Pro place. My wife surprised me by bringing me here for my birthday to pick out new golf clubs. Waking in I first noticed their efforts to keep a count on the numbers of people coming in and leaving. Making sure all were wearing proper masks. They provide hand sanitizer at the entrance. The entrance had an incredible aquarium that's similar to rain forest cafe, but more bright and colorful, really nice. Although many things were not in operation, like the ferris wheel and bowling alley that looks like lots of fun. My wife completely surprised me by bringing me here and to buy new clubs and my first thought is she doesn't understand these guys will not have anyone that knows the products and they will be super high priced. Well I was surprised again to see how many people work there and the young gentleman that helped us was extremely knowledgeable about the clubs and the differences between each set. He helped us get all needed gear to get me started. So there is hope for the young generation, he had excellent customer service really went above the normal effort. Realizing we did have a cart to haul our goodies in abs going after one, loading the clubs and staying with us until we were all content with everything we needed. Hats off to this young man he will go far and hats off to Scheels read more

It's huge. There is a Ferris wheel inside along with a tropical fish tank bridge that you can walk under. The prices are a bit high for my taste. It's a drive from where we live so we'll probably stick with the stores closer to Denver. Customer service was decent. read more

I love this place. I've only been here twice and don't like the long 65-80 minute drive but worth it! They had the pistol that I wanted and at a wonderful price! They even had a great promotion to add on top and even more than cover my fuel. Great pricing. Wonderful service! read more

More of the same, overpriced sporting goods that I can get online cheaper. The ferris wheel is a nice touch and the people who work there were nice. The building is big and there seemed to be ample parking on a weekday but it might get pretty tight for parking on a weekend. What an awesome store. Great guns. Great selection of everything you could possibly need.

My family has been shopping at Scheels since the 70s (Fargo, ND) and Scheels continues to impress with their customer service, products, environment, and growth. I spent 3 hrs at the Johnstown location and had some wonderful conversations with staff originally from the ND/MN area. Of course I found some great items along with a delicious lunch and latte. If you look at my past review, you can see that not every one of our experiences at Scheels has been perfect, we had one bad one, but I am very impressed with how it was dealt with. First off, why do we love Scheels? It is unlike any other sporting goods store that I have ever been to, or at least a combination of all of them. I always describe it as if REI and Cabela's had a child. Their selection is enormous, and while it certainly is on the pricier side, that is driven usually by the higher end items that they have. They do also have a price match guarantee, which I have never used, but nice to know it is there. It is also one of the best shopping experiences you can have for a whole family. The people are usually very friendly, and there is a lot of stuff to keep the family interested. My kids must, every time we are there, check out the fish tank, ride the Ferris wheel, play in the kids play area, look at the taxidermy mountain, climb on the jeep, and look at the bear. If there is time we also like to bowl and do the old west shooting gallery. My personal favorite part is the deli. Ooooooooh the deli. They could have the best sandwiches north of the Denver Boulder Metro area. Great stuff for kids, amazing fudge and salads, pizza and more, but the Italian and Outdoorsman sandwiches are must gets for us every time. We plan trips around them, and on our last trip just found out they are still amazing an hour later if we just take them to go. Finally, conflict and issue resolution. We had one bad experience at Scheels, and because we all love it there so much, it really ruined our day. That said, they genuinely seemed to care, and more importantly listened. After expressing our issues, we had multiple people reach out to us and try to address them. The next time that we went to Scheels, there were things, unique things that we specifically talked about that were changed, and that make our experience there better every time. We hope their high standards continue, as we hope to keep coming back read more

The selection here is so outstanding that each time I visit, 50% of me is wildly excited to see what's new and the other 50% is very worried that my wife is going to find something that neither we nor our children need but somehow "have to have." My only concern is that prices are not competitive, however I realize that operating the Ferris wheel, enormous fish tank, etc., aren't cheap. read more

The most amazing sports store I have ever been to! There is more to see and buy than any other big box sporting goods store

Very cool store but they have no consideration for trans people and I felt that I wasn't welcome there. Could really create more of a welcoming store because it would be really nice to feel welcome there. Until then it's Amazon prime for me. Also everything feels double the price of its online counter part. Also there was dog ...... on the floor and I was like... I understand letting dogs in there but if you allow that policy it shouldn't be a messy place. It felt like a children's playground.. read more
