This afternoon (Friday, June 12th), I was at the 6327 E. Broadway store shopping for a few items. I was in the shoe department browsing for some court sneakers and was pleasantly surprised when Jorge, a sales associate, asked if he could be of assistance. I let him know what I was looking for and he took the time to show me and explain what they had in inventory. I was grateful that a store representative actually asked if I needed help instead of trying to hunt someone down to help me. I moved onto other areas of the store trying to find a head visor. I must have looked like I needed help as another store associate, Luis, asked if he could assist me with finding something. He guided me to the golf area and located some visors, but also brought in that department's associate, Jane, to see if there might be more in stock elsewhere. The reason I am being so detailed about my experience at Dick's today is that I can't remember being helped like this in a store, well I guess, in quite a long time. I appreciate what Dick's is instilling in their employees. That customer service does matter. I appreciate how well I was treated today and will remain a loyal customer. I love checking out the clothes at Dicks Sporting goods. This place reminds me of a big five sporting goods. I spent a long time looking at the workout clothes because that's what interests me a great deal. My husband decided to buy HOKA Bondi 9 shoes for work. Sadly, they didn't really work out for him and I came today to return them. The customer service is so friendly and fast. And when we bought stuff a few days ago we had to we were helped quickly. I was in the store about 30 minutes this morning and nobody came up to ask me if I needed any help or if I had any questions. Been interested in getting some pants for my husband, but I just didn't see what I wanted on the display. The store was clean and I'd be willing to go back again. They have disc golf supplies and discs and that's pretty cool. read more

Dick's is lacking what you need. What you need is items that are reasonably priced and great customer service. You walk into this store and it is huge, but you can't find an employee to help you. Sometimes finding an employee is more difficult than finding the item you came in to purchase. The clothes are over priced for example Nike running shorts $35 to $55. The designated area for weights and exercise equipment is always a mess and not organized. They used to give a military discount and now they stopped. By pass this store until they fix what broken. read more

I am very dissatisfied! I bought a pair of shoes yesterday. I came back today to return them, because they aren't working for me. I bought the shoes with a hundred and fifty dollar visa gift card. Sage the manager on duty told me they can't put the money back on my visa gift card. It has to be put on the storeds gift card. This means I have to spend the money in store. In store didn't have the shoes I wanted. Sage encourage me to buy online. This is an awful policy!!! I should be free to take my hundred and fifty dollars and spend it where I want. After today I won't be back!!! I felt free to purchase the shoes and bring them back later because the store was so busy in customer help is scares. read more

This used to be my go to place to find great sales on outdoor hunting apparel, hunting supplies and ammunition. This year Dicks has greatly reduced the amount of hunting gear, guns and ammo they used to carry for political reasons which is really disappointing. On my most recent visit they no longer carried anything I was shopping for. So unfortunately I won't be doing much shopping here if any at all in the future. read more

Worst customer service in a long while. Or maybe it's just salespeople with very poor training, supervision and experience. Over the past year: Visit 1- tried to return a mouth protector that was uncomfortable and would not soften when boiled. Clerk asked what we used it for and when we said it was for sleeping (dentist advice) the salesperson looked at the package and with a very knowledgeable look and a raised eyebrow said it was for basketball! Visit 2 - returning an unopened product the day after purchase. Clerk said the invoice was expired. Visit 3 - tried to buy running shoes and couldn't get them on so asked for a shoehorn. Clerk said they didn't have one in shoe department, only in golf shoe area but walked away and didn't go get it. Visit 4 - today tried to buy hiking shoes and again asked for a shoehorn but sales person in the shoe department didn't know what a shoe horn was. They only have stacks and stacks and a thousand shoes for sale. You just can't make this stuff up! read more

Wow!! My husband and I just spent 30 minutes in this store as we are preparing for a rafting trip down the CO River. Not one sales person said a word to us. Not one. This store has nice merchandise and we had questions but could find no one to help us. I bought my wife mace from here. Two weeks later the cap fell off that allows you to actually use it rendering it useless. Came in to exchange it or return it and they wouldn't allow me to do either. I didn't have a receipt but come on after two weeks I product I bought broke and can't exchange it. Matt was the manager. With Sports Authority closing shop and nearly gone, it's a good thing we have Dick's in town to go with Big 5. I stopped in to get threaded CO2 cartridges to pack with my bike in case of a flat. Walmart and Target does not carry threaded CO2's, only non-threaded. I also didn't want to buy a box of them, only a few and keep it under $10. They had them. I bought them. Happy. While there, I checked out the rest of the store. Nice, new, clean, bright, organized...all the regular aspects that you would expect out of a good store. Plenty of inventory, a nice variety of brands, good displays. Worth checking out to see if it fits your sports needs. read more

On our most recent visit to Dick's sporting goods (we have made several purchases there in the past) I would have given the customer service a 0/5 if I could. They were having a clearance sale and on the clearance rack we found 2 separate pairs of Nike leggings that were about 50% off and as we were checking out there was a problem with the computer not ringing up the sale price of either of the leggings. The cashier then called up the female manager who then would not honor the sale price that was CLEARLY MARKED on each of the tags. On top of it being clearly marked on the tags, there was also multiples of one of the pairs of leggings on the clearance rack. This is a terrible way to run a business and if something is marked as clearance it should 100% be honored, even if it was a mistake of an employee that caused it to be this way. read more

I called ahead to see if they price matched Big 5 and the lady on the phone asked her manager and they confirmed that they did. I drove 45 minutes to get there and once I got there Amira (she had braids) was just very rude. As soon as I told her that I needed a price match and had called ahead to verify. She rolled her eyes and told me they don't price match everything and it needed to be a specific store. So I told her it was Big 5 and showed her the ad. She told me that I needed to click on the link so she can see the price. I told her the online price would not match the ad price so she repeated herself again like if I was dumb and didn't understand what she was saying. She told me that she wasn't able to price match because the colors had to be exact and so we ended up not purchasing the item. She could have offered to get me the right color but she didn't. She wasn't helpful at all. I'd rather just buy the things I need online with other competitors since they usually have better prices if this is the type of service that's expected. read more

Store is always clean and kept nice. Shelves are stocked with the most popular sports items. Upon entering the cashiers are always good to greet you. The grey haired guy in the gun/ammo section is always helpful and available. 3 problems I have with this place after multiple trips here: A lot of signage is missing, you'll see the plastic sleeve hanging from a display model but nothing will be inside. Not just one or two items, like 40% of the displays are unmarked. My other issue here is the prices aren't competitive with online equipment, but they know they get you to come in to avoid shipping heavy sports equipment. But if you catch them during a sale, the prices are decent. My last issue is, other then the high value areas, it is hard to find associate help. I actually had to have the guy from guns/ammo come help me get the pricing and the correct boxes for the weight bench I bought. He was super helpful, but wasn't knowledgeable about that department. He did a great job keeping me there to buy still. read more

Just wow. I ordered shoes online and discovered once they arrived that they were used! So I took them to the store to return and reorder a new pair, and was told they would not arrive before Christmas because the cutoff date was the 19th for a guarantee (Even though I originally ordered them on the 15th). Ended up with no other choice but to pay for express shipping in order to get the shoes in time and was told by customer service when I called to have the shipping refunded, that the new shoes had to be shipped before the proper team could be notified and then they would review it and POSSIBLY give me my money back for shipping that I would have never had to pay if it wasn't for their dirty, used shoes being shipped out in the first place. Very disappointing and a pretty major mess up during a major shopping season. read more

Customer service is always non existent and Dick's never has every size. There's no back stock so after chasing employees down, we're hit with "whatever is out there is all we have". I was purchasing a pair of work shoes from Dick's once a month until I had to return a pair. One shoe was defective and was smaller than the other despite being the same size. The manager acted like I committed murder because I was returning these shoes..."I'll do it this time but I won't do it again". That's the thanks I get for being a returning customer....until now! Every season. Every single time. Your stock is so low we can't find basic baseball cleats in my son's size, amidst the few options you even have! We have to go to Phoenix or cross our fingers and order online. Every time. You have one youth golf shirt and it's got pink in it. Huge swaths of empty floor space. Not enough staff, either. You ran everyone else out of town and then we have to go to your Tempe store to actually get anything. Every. Season. Over a million people live in the Tucson area and you only have two poorly stocked stores.... why bother bring in this market?!! You know how you can up sales in this market? Have stuff in the darn store. Don't say you can order it or look for availability at other stores. Actually stock things! Then have enough staff to sell them. read more

After going online to Dick's website and attempting to purchase the Bowflex Max Trainer M3, I found out that I needed to go in-store to purchase this item because they don't have it available to order online. The site said my local store had "limited stock". So...I go to the local store to purchase it and of course they don't have any in stock they tell me they can order for me online though. I'm thinking "great they like every other retail store have an internal process for ordering items to come in on their next truck. However, this was not the case. The employee instead goes onto the exact same website I was on earlier and proceeds to tell me that she is not able to order it online. (Thank you captain obvious but I had already discovered this to be the case) But wait it gets better... she than proceeds to tell me that "they are not able to tell me when or if they will be getting anymore in stock" and "they have no idea what items will be coming in on the next truck" Instead, they suggest I just "keep checking with them every couple of days" (like I have nothing else to do with my time). I ask them to please explain how it is that they have no clue what is coming in on their trucks or when and if they will be getting an item in stock again. They were not able to provide an answer. So I go online to chat with a customer service rep. thinking maybe they have some answers (silly me!). Instead, after telling the rep. that I had just come from the local store and they don't have it and asking if there is a way she can order it for me she tells me "sure" and proceeds to ask for the sku# which I provide her with. She than tells me that she can't order it for me (surprise!) and that the website shows that my local store has limited stock and I should go there to buy it. At this point I'm actually tweaking my head in utter disbelief. I again inform her that I was just there and they said that they didn't have any even though the site is showing "limited stock" and shouldn't that mean that they have at least 1 to sell me. She tells me " yes, but they have limited stock available for those customers who physically go into the store". I give up!!!! This company is a lost cause. There is not one competent employee in the bunch. I don't know how a company expects to succeed for long in the market when their customer service is such crap! read more

Employees are incompetent! One employee said they would fill our 5lb co2 tank for our keg-orator. We drove 45 min. to get it filled after calling around town for 2 hours. We came right before the store closed and they tried to say they were out of co2, and then said they don't fill after a certain time, then finally they said that our co2 tank was too big. After many many attempts to purchase a home gym and getting the runaround by employees how they don't carry it in stock and that it would be in on the truck on Thursdays. Spent many Thursdays at that store trying to get that darn home gym with no prevail. Finally went in this Saturday and talk to a manager who for the first time was actually a caring person and tried to help my family and I out after hearing the problems we had. Come to find out they had to order the gym at the store and there was a $200 shipping fee to deliver it there or at your house. The manager went to support website as we watched her talk to them about the problems we had and she wanted to wave the $200 shipping fee for us but support would have nothing to do with that, they did not care that we spent many days coming into that store expecting to pick up our gym the employee said would be there Thursdays. To me the blame does not go to the employees but to the higher-ups. Poor training and uncaring practices. We will no longer be shopping at your store. read more

Okay this review is actually about the management staff, one manager in particular. So this review could have been a 3 star but I rated it a 2 star to bring this manager to the consumers attention. I walked in the store and he just standing there not even greeting or acknowledging the fact that I walked in the door so I have to approach him to see who I need to speak with about an apparel issue. He said he was the manager so I told him my situation with a Nike dri-fit top I purchased Nd after one wash no drying this top went from a XXL to a medium. Before going I had read the company return policy so figured this would not be a big issue, especially from a big box store company. You would have thought I had stolen the top the way this guy started treating me. He begins by telling me in order for him to be able to accept it as a return I would have needed to have the original tags still on the garment. WTF! Nowhere in the return policy is the verbiage even present. By this point I am just about done with John "The Manager" and ask to speak to his manager. I go on to tell John I am a Regional Manager for a big company and I would never tolerate one of my managers to talk to a customer like he was talking to me. Then he goes on to tell me it's not his issue rather Nikes! Again WTF! Sure we all get that John but the item was purchased at the store you supposedly manage? I'm sure your company does a ton of business with Nike and when the rep for Nike comes to visit your store have her credit it for you pal. Anyhow finally got John to check with the apparel manager who actually sized up the item against similar products from Nike and was able to determine a defect. She then approached me because John no longer had the customer service skills to admit he may have been wrong about how he handled the entire situation. I looked at him as I was leaving and he wouldn't even look me in the eye. I thanked the nice apparel manager for her assistance and thought to myself this is the person who probably should be I charge. John, please work on your customer service skills. You should never get upset with the customer no matter what the situation. read more

I won't be back but I can see how it would appeal to plenty of people. If your looking for shoes or clothes it might be alright. I'm not a runner and there seemed to be plenty of shoes. They definitely have a lot of areas covered but none of them were really dialed-in. There's a lot of fad stuff and things you don't really need and it seemed a bit pricey.
