Stopped in to The Running Shop this afternoon with a few random running shoe questions and they were amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and took time to understand my questions and were patient with my lack of knowledge. I reserved my Brooks Launch on line and drove over an hour to pick them up cause I didn't want to wait for shipping. My shoes were at the counter when I arrived and the gentleman that helped was very knowledgeable with Brooks almost had me pick up another pair while I was their but ultimately I didn't feel it in the shoe. A friend recommended this store and I stopped in here for the first time this week. Geoff watched me walk, asked what I was looking for and brought out many shoes for me to try. I walked around in all of them and they let me run in whichever ones I wanted to on the sidewalk outside the store. Geoff was extremely helpful and patient. While not runners, my partner and I put in significant miles on paved and unpaved trails. When we first moved to Tucson a few years ago, we searched for a shop that would take the time to listen to our needs and find the perfect shoe match. The Running Shop did not disappoint! The staff member asked what we liked/didn't like about our current shoes, watched us walk, and offered several options based on our needs. We left with supportive, comfortable shoes that worked great for us. Fast forward to 2020. We've put in some extra miles the first part of this year and need some new gear. We saw that The Running Shop has curbside pickup, delivery, and on-line ordering options available. I called in, and the shop was able to give me the current model information for the shoes we typically buy since they keep records of purchases. They even had my partner's skinny size 13s in stock. I have a tough foot to fit and despise shoe shopping for my hobbit feet. The staff here were friendly and welcoming, they worked hard to make sure I left happy with a shoe that fit well. Staff are knowledgeable about the shoes and know how to help you find the perfect fit. This will probably be my new go to spot for tennis shoes. They have a great rewards program -spend $200 and earn a $20 reward. What a deal! I appreciated how the staff member I worked with attempted to find me a shoe off their discount rack before finding me a full priced shoe. This was store was a new experience for me. I tried on a friends pair of HOKA Recovery Sandals at a recent dinner party and could not wait until I got to the Running Shop to get my own pair. We went here to find a pair of running shoes for my wife. She is a fairly new runner and was concerned that they might be a little snooty about running. To the contrary, they were very helpful and took the time to find just the right shoe for her. The prices were just a few dollars higher than online shops, but when you factor in shipping they are basically the same price. Plus when you buy online you can't try the shoe out to make sure they fit well. It's a great store with one on one service that you don't get online or at big-box stores. read more

The shoes fit perfect and walked out of the store wearing them within 15 minutes. Priced the same as Amazon and supporting a local business felt good. The Running Shop has a great selection and they're local, so when I won a gift certificate for the store I was pretty excited as I needed a new pair of running shoes. When I walked into the store it felt like the life had been sucked out of the place. The guy who helped me asked if I needed help or if I just wanted to check out the selection. His lack of enthusiasm led me to just check out the selection. He offered little assistance on the shoes that I asked him about and if he was an expert on running shoes, he didn't let on. It was like pulling teeth getting this kid to talk to me. I don't feel like I should have to ask a bunch of questions when I'm in a shop full of experts, they should offer information and my questions can be based off of the info they provide me. Perhaps if I was a professional runner and knew what I was looking for the experience would have been better. Alas, I am not and simply decided on a pair of shoes that I knew had worked for a couple friends. With such a great location and great selection of stuff it seems like the management of this business would encourage their employees to provide their customers some service. I've had a good experience every time I've been here. First of all the sales people don't really bother you the way they do at other sports stores. They're just polite and available. I needed help finding new running shoes and they listened to me and brought out some suggestions but never tried to pressure me into anything. But the greatest part is when the Brooks I recently purchased weren't working for me at all, they let me come in and exchange them even though they had been worn several times (but were still in brand new condition) and helped me find a pair that had what I needed. They have a good selection if running clothes and always have lots of merchandise in the sale rack. I'm definitely remaining a loyal customer. Extra points for the little old man runner who hangs out at the shop and jokes with everyone. read more

The Running Shop has an excellent selection of clothing and shoes for such a small shop. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did they have a UV-protective top in the color and style I wanted, they carried it in three different brands. However, I got the impression I was really bothering the lady working that day by asking to try things on, or attempting to strike up a casual conversation while she rang up my purchase. I'm glad that she let me browse without breathing down my neck the entire time, but a bit more courtesy on her part would have been appreciated. read more

It was time for new running shoes and having a gift certificate for this shop brought me in. It is suggested to bring in your old sneakers so they can see the wear pattern on them. I followed this recommendation and the gentleman that helped me took a good look at them to see what shoes would be the best bet for me. At first, he brought out the same exact type of shoe that I brought in but after discussing my needs with him, he recommended a less expensive shoe of the same brand. Not as much cushioning works fine for me at this junction and I am glad that I have found a new shoe that works as well (if not better). The prices are comparable to other local shops that specialize in selling quality running shoes. I needed new shoes for walking around campus and doing Orangtheory. My arches and ankles need a lot of support because they have a tendency to roll in. Jeff went through about 6 or 7 different pairs for me after listening to what I needed, and he made sure I got the right shoes. They are very patient and will spend forever with you getting the right fit. I just got an amazing pair of shoes, which is allowing me to walk again after getting foot pain. They still had a record of the last pair of shoes I bought 4 years ago! Though the new model of the same shoe had changed style now, and wasnt as comfortable, they went through trying about 8 pairs of different shoes with me, paired with different inserts. And the "kicker" - The pair that finally fit the best was on clearance and only cost $56 - less than I would have gotten it at a discount shoe store. I looove my new shoes. Though I have been on my feet up to 9 hours a day, my foot pain is reducing daily. From now on, no discount stores for me. I'm buying all my walking shoes at the running shop - I really want them to stay in business! read more

I went in here one day to pick up a race packet and ended up buying a few other goodies. They have a good selection of clothing and the prices are very reasonable. The employees were helpful, especially considering the place was packed with people picking up their packets. This is a bomb local store. First of all, I got there about 15 minutes before closing. Terrible, I know, but it's hard for me to get out of work any earlier than that. They didn't act like it was a nuisance at all and I got the full treatment. They analyzed my stride and pulled out 3-4 pairs for me to run around the block in. When I found the perfect pair, they told me that if it didn't work out within a couple weeks, I could bring them back - they didn't want me running around in shoes that were bad for my feet. I mean seriously... how much better does it get? I'd recommend this store to anyone looking for personalized assistance in shopping for a new pair of shoes. Before I went here I'd gone to another running shoe store that does a "footstrike analysis." Definitely didn't have the same warm fuzzy feeling.
