Went to the store next to Best Buy to look for a snorkel mask. The service at this store is not only bad, it is non-existent. The store is huge and I could not find a single employee. I finally brought several items to the front and found one person stocking a shelf. I asked him a few questions and he offered short answers with no content. I finally just took a few items to the cashier, who told me that many of the staff had not come in to work. It's a large store and has alot of stuff, but don't bother if you need to ask questions, try something on or get basic information. read more

Amber alert, Tornado Warning till 21:30, it was 21:07 and one of the employees asking me to live, I explained him about the tornado and his answer was: "I don't care, o want to go home!" Horrible people working there, this is common sense and it's not very humanity telling to my wife and me to leave the store because they wanna go home! I love this location of Dick's! It's super convenient if you're ever by the galleria, the Tollway, Downtown Addison, or the Village on the Parkway. I lived near here for a while and never managed to come in; but then when I became more active I started coming and haven't stopped! Hard to imagine a better place in the area to get your sporting wear for the season or, like I do, stop in the night before a 5K or a long bike ride to get energy shots and browse their huge selection of running, biking, and golf gear! Good stuff, and I highly recommend giving them a try. The staff is friendly and helpful, and it's always clean too Prices at any store like this are higher than anyone would like, but to their credit they have sales every season that help make up for it; and besides, as a huge REI fan, this is often cheaper than REI plus for me it's a much more convenient location. Came in to buy my son some soccer stuff. I called ahead of time to make sure they had toddler sized items. They answered right away and told me where I could find in the store. When I arrived I was able to find a few items (very limited stock) then wandered over to shoes. The store wasn't busy but it took a little while to get some help. The girl was nice though. Customer service at the register was great. The store overall seems a little run down- which is odd for that part of town. It definitely needs a boost or something. read more

I went to Dick's this morning to try on exercise clothes. When I picked out what I wanted to try on, I couldn't find a fitting room that wasn't "out of service." When I finally found an associate, I asked her where I could find one and she said, "umm..." and then proceeded to walk off to look for one. I followed her hoping she knew. She led me to one near the front where she opened the lock and let me in. I tried on what I needed to and then realized the clothes didn't fit. I then went back out in the store to find a better fit. When I returned to the same fitting room the door was locked. I pressed the call button and waited for a good 10 minutes until the same girl reappeared to let me in with her key. This time she was obviously annoyed and did not say a word. She just glared at me, opened the door and walked off. Sorry for asking you to do your job??? Its not like the location was busy. There were probably 10-15 customers in the entire 70,000 square ft store as it had just opened. This will be my first and last time at this location. read more

This is a very good store. The location is off Dallas Tollway along with some other big box retailers. They have great selection of products. Every time, I have visited the store, they have carried what I was looking for, and the prices have been reasonable. Unlike Sport Authority! They do not carry everything, and the prices are higher. I got balls at Dick's. Ok, I know that's crude but it's true. I bought a 65 cm stability ball (big ball) and a little mini soccer ball (tiny ball). I actually needed both for the office and Dick's is right around the corner. I chose this location b/c of convenience. I typically go to Academy but they were too far away. I knew what I needed was pretty standard so I took a chance on DSG. I was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I walked in there was young man on hand to greet me. I told him what I needed and he pointed me in the right direction. When I got to that area of the store there was another employee who quickly offered help. He then directed me to my next stop. Everyone was polite and efficient; right down to the cashier. I spent a total of 10 minutes in the store but I know I'll be back. Anyone who knows me knows I like shopping for sporting goods and health equipment. The store layout is simple and easy to get around and on this day; everyone was pleasant and eager to help. I realize I was there during the day on a weekday so they weren't busy and things may be different on the weekend. I do know I've been to an Academy during the same time of day on a weekday and I couldn't find anyone to help me. Don't get me wrong, I won't stop shopping Academy b/c they're near my home, but I think I just found a new retail retreat I can haunt during my lunch breaks. read more

Anthony from the Golf Dept spent 30 mins with me on the phone yesterday to review the best golf club brand and sets. He also gave me a review of their golf club fitting process which includes being able to try various golf clubs until the right one has been established. Anthony also gave me names of key personnel at the Park Lane location, which may be a little closer to my home and office. He was patient with my questions and went above and beyond the details with his response. He never said "no problem" always said "my pleasure" and gave me his cell to text him any follow-up questions or concerns. Anthony is a unique, "Ace" employee and moving up! An absolutely horrible experience. After waiting at the firearms counter for 20 minutes, yes 20 minutes including two trips to the front where the guy at the front spoke into a collar microphone, then looked at me like I was a fool, never offering to actually DO anything....finally a " manager " stopped by to ask if I had been helped??? Only to offer the excuse that the gun guy had an emergency and had to leave . The manager of course couldn't show me a gun , and certainly couldn't sell me one, because it takes two to complete the process . (?, his explanation). A total joke of a store. DO NOT bother to look at their sales, they simply seldom have the item, or offer a lame excuse as to why it isn't that price. Total incompetence, indifference and a waste of your time. read more

This is a nice store. They have everything you could need for workout, fishing, camping, etc. The store it laid out nicely without an overly cluttered look. The employees are a bit green but very friendly and always do their best to help. Parking is never a problem as there's a giant parking lot right out front. read more

I was in the market for a new bike, actually my first real bike in adulthood, and I had already visited numerous bike shops. I'm no bike snob and for my needs, the bikes at those other stores were way out of my price range. I had also checked big box stores only to find that the bikes were dusty, squeaky, and there weren't any real experts on hand. I stopped by Dick's and found that they had plenty of bikes in my price range (also some that were out of my price range) and for my needs. They also had helpful people who knew a lot about bikes. They helped me find the right size and the right type of bike. They even inspect the bike before you leave and give you a buyer's checklist. Additionally, I asked if they had any coupons going on and they gave me 20% off! So not only did I get a better brand of bike for the same price as I would have paid at Walmart or Target, I also got great service and a bike that I know is right for me. Since I saved 20% on the bike, I used my savings toward a warranty. It covers a tube replacement, a tune up, and certain repairs. I took my bike on a 20 mile ride a few hours after purchasing and it worked just perfectly. If you want a bike that's a reasonable price, I would recommend going to Dick's Sporting Goods! read more

Overall, I have no complaints about this place, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I mainly shop in the women's clothing & swim section, so I cannot speak as to the other departments. I came in trying to replace my old, practically decayed swim suit that I've beat up in the lap pool over the last few years. Of course, a little browsing never hurt anyone, either. I had to have an associate direct me to the swim area since they decided to move it on me. Sadly, there wasn't a large selection for women. I really only saw three brands for adult females - Speedo, Nike, and TYR. Of those three brands, there were only a handful of styles available, very few color choices, and a limited size range in stock. I snagged a few to try on & made my way back to the workout clothing section to check out the sales. I will say the clearance racks and sales on name brand items were pretty impressive, but only a few things caught my attention. I was given a dressing room in no time and was left with my items. After much debate, I settled on a running shirt (on sale), but failed at my attempt to secure a new swim suit. The store is always clean & quiet. I never manage to get in & out of the store without being greeted at least once & asked if I need help with anything about 3-4 times. Good for them on the customer service. Well, except for the cashier I had this time. She wasn't rude, but certainly wasn't friendly, and had no desire to talk to me out of telling me to swipe my card and giving me my reciept. Thankfully, the rest of her co-workers saved the experience. I'll recommend this place for browsing and whatnot, & I'm sure I'll continue to frequent the sale racks when they're available. read more

Dicks is ok. It is really just the malling of America. You are going to get good prices which is really nice, but if you have a question between this and that, good luck finding anyone with a clue as to which is better or what the pros and cons are. It is also not the place for the high end specialty goods in any sport. If you are really in to cycling than go to Richardson Bike Mart, if you are really into golf, than go to a golf shop, if you are into skiing than go to one of the CD Ski places, but if you are just needing to buy your kid a cheap baseball glove, then you found your place. read more

With a Dick's being so close to my office, it's my go-to for yoga clothing, work out clothing and accessories. It's usually a very quick check-out and I've had good customer service while there. They typically have a good amount of items in stock regularly and are knowledgeable about products. My only complaint is that they can be pricey! Occasionally you'll find really good deals on the clearance racks. But you'll also come across products marked down from $115 to $99. That is NOT a clearance deal! Plus, I will typically pull up my Amazon Prime app while I'm in the store. If I can order the same item with free 2 day shipping for cheaper, I will. Dick's markups on brand products are definitely high. read more

Looking for wool hiking/trekking socks. Walk through shoe area in the back of the store but can't see anything but ankle high running socks (a good selection of sizes, colors and styles). Approach the team member working this area and tell him I'm looking for wool over the calf hiking socks. Follow him throughout the shoe section (same area he had to have seen me walking through already) and he says "They moved them on me. " So he makes a call to someone else and after talking to them directs me to an end cap of socks and says, "We don't have very many wool ankle socks." I reminded him I'm looking for Calf Socks and he tells me this is it. Heading to REI. read more

This is a smaller store, but I always have good luck finding good deals. The staff is always helpful, nice and have even accommodated sales that were mislabeled. Everyone who bargain shops knows the disappointment of spending and hour or two shopping deals only to get to the register and be told it was an old sign. Haha. Fortunately I didn't even have to say anything, the checker seen the issue and called a manager and took care of it before I could even ask! I shop here all the time. In the market for a stationary bike. I saw a model on the Dicks website and stopped in to actually try it out. No one servicing this area, went looking for help and a nice young man who knew absolutely nothing came over. We figured out the bike was not plugged in and later determined the electrical outlets were dead. They had no clue what to do so I finally walked out wondering how do these people sell anything? this was a $500+ bike with perhaps another 4150 for shipping and installation but there was no sense of urgency to make the sale. I went there to find women's golf clothes and it took me 30 minutes to find the women's golf clothes because they were in the back corner of the store. The women's golf shorts were so short. They were like booty shorts. I finally found some that would cover up. You could find the men's golf clothing just find and they had a wide selection. read more

why waste your valuable time in a half assd store like this, I went in to get hunting and fishing license for my week long fishing excursion and planned on spending at least 1K on poles and tackle and clothing but the stores computer was down and i stood there while the employee rebooted the system 3 times to no avail, needless to say i will get my fishing license and gear somewhere else, oh and by the way i walked to the doors to leave and they would not open and they yelled to me to stick my fingertips in between the doors to open them, these are signs of a company going under so i would reconsider if i were you before buying anything from them, and another thing if you call corporate headquarters you will get hung up on. read more
