I figure it's basically against the rules of Seattle to visit and not stop at Dick's. Alas, on the eve of my return home, I decided to stop in. Unlike all other locations (apparently), this location has a dining area; however, it's being remodeled or something and it's closed. That wasn't a problem though, because pandemic. I found a local park to eat at and it worked out. I ordered a strawberry milkshake, a deluxe burger, and an order of fries. The milkshake was about par with any other fast food milkshake I've had, but the burger and fries were fantastic. The deluxe burger had a bunch of toppings on it that I didn't read, but I liked it a lot and it was super filling. The fries were fantastic as well. They had the perfect amount of salt on them and weren't too thick or too thin. Dick's is a must-visit stop in Seattle. This location has a dine-in area but is closed due to the pandemic. We got six burgers, three milkshakes, and two orders of fries. Despite the other reviews, our burgers didn't turn out soggy or messy even after a 10-minute car ride. I would reccomend going for the deluxe burger and most definitely the strawberry shake. Dick's Drive-In is an institution in Seattle. We were in the city one day and didn't know what to eat. Looking at the restaurants in the vicinity, I saw this place and suggested going here, just to say that I've at-least tried it. Hit up Dick's Drive In late last night after my sister and I were starving and wanting a quick fix! We had heard that Dick's Drive In was an iconic Seattle spot- sort of the California equivalent to In N Out, so we went to see what it was all about! The drive-in is, of course, classic. It still is in the old drive-in style. We pulled up and went inside to check it out! The inside area was large and clean, totally empty- seems like it used to have seating but that has all been done away with due to COVID, I suppose. Lots of eye-grabbing classic Seattle art in mural form all over the walls! The employees were really friendly! We ordered a deluxe, a cheeseburger, and 2 orders of fries. Keep in mind you do have to pay for condiments, but I had 8 McDonalds ketchup packets in the car, which saved us. (It's super cheap though, like .20). The minimal menu that hasn't changed much since its original orientation was awesome- great for avoiding decision paralysis. Total, everything ended up being $11, so a total steal. Also it's super great that this place is open 10 AM - 2 AM, for those late-night cravings! We stopped by around 10 PM last night and it was pretty packed for that time of night.   The food was delicious! They go easy on the condiments and the flavor of the burger really stands out. The fries are also apparently made with sunflower oil, so apparently slightly healthier! They weren't super seasoned, but they slapped. We ate in our car at the drive-in spot and watched a video of the Drive-In's history while we did. Apparently, Dick, the original owner has always made his burgers medium well, and they have never taken special requests! Safe burgers, consistency, and affordable pricing! It felt like a total blast from the past to be able to observe such classic simplicity. All in all, it was a great experience. This is definitely a local thing. In college, my friends and I would come here for a quick bite - something filling and cheap, as it's just down the hill. There's always some sort of commotion going on at every location in Seattle, from police being there, to drunk people getting in fights, to just basic crowd control. The lines can get long, and because it's open late, draws in a lot of crowds from bars, clubs, or concerts. Their burgers are the equivalent of maybe In-N-Out, but their shakes are worth every visit. For such cheap prices, a burger, fries, and shake for under $10 is sometimes just the way to go. But for some reason, blogs really rave about it, so I thought I'd check it out. I ordered a deluxe burger, fries and a Barq's. The deluxe burger was smaller than I anticipated. After having many comparisons to In-N-Out, I expected a similar burger. The 2 patties on Dicks' Deluxe are ech 1/8 lb, whereas the In-N-Out patties are much thicker. I thought it was weird that there were no tomatoes and I didn't love the relish, but. I'd eat one again. The fries were soft and kind of soggy, which I prefer. There is a strictly cash only policy for their VERY affordable goods, which is nostalgic and this location had some parking, but not a ton. Definitely in a walkable neighborhood though. read more
