One of my favorite Dick's locations and it's not all the way in Seattle! When I first moved to WA, I didn't really understand the hype about this place, but it really grew on me. After the first few visits, I learned to appreciate the food and business that adds to Seattle's uniqueness. First of all, all the employees have great benefits and are able to apply for a variety of scholarships, which sets a great example to other businesses. All the ingredients are fresh, nothing is frozen. The patties are 100% beef, the buns are locally made and even the fries are made with real potatoes that are cut by hand. The simplicity of Dick's burgers is what makes it special and after one bite, you'll understand why. On top of that, everything is so affordable it's ridiculous. Most the burgers are under $3, fries are under $2 and the shakes are also under $3. It is cash only, but there are ATM's on the side of the bathrooms. This Edmonds location is great because it's safer than Seattle, there's lots of parking and it's always fresh. Everyone who works here is nice and when I ask for unsalted fries they make me a fresh batch every time. Thanks for being so awesome! read more

First, let me say, I'm a fan of Dick's. A gourmet burger it is not. But for what they are, a relatively inexpensive fast food burger chain, the burgers are ok. The fries range from very good to disappointing, depending upon how soggy they are. My biggest complaint - and I hope Dick's management reads this - is that you don't need to use every part of a head of lettuce. There are some really distasteful portions of lettuce - in particular, the thick white ribs - that when one gets a big hunk of that in the burger, it ruins the taste. So please, be a little more selective in terms of the parts of the head of lettuce you use. Just the green leaves only would be much appreciated. read more

I grew up in seattle and dicks is a staple. I love the deluxe and soggy fries with a vanilla shake. Might not be everyone's favorite but it is mine. People there are polite and professional and get you your food as quickly as possible. Definitely one of my all time favorites. read more

I was there Thursday the 30th night a little past midnight. They had gone down to a few windows and the people in front of me were confused and taking awhile to order. I think of a coke and a burger, hanging out with friends; shooting the breeze and relaxing. Rain pattering down on our cars, or maybe a late night, post-college all-nighter, 1am, getting something to fill our need for something unhealthy, to balance out our knowledge filled minds. So what makes this place amazing? Is it the nostalgia or the neat clever easy to read menu? I think you come here because you are looking for healthy, you should go ahead and run home and munch on a lettuce leaf. Instead, what you are expecting from his place is one helping of classic hamburger goodness. 1. Cash only. 2. Get a Deluxe. 3. Get a Milk Shake 4. Get an order of fries. 5. Play some 40/50/60s music, and dream of Grease Lightning. At this point, you should find a place to stand, lean on, or sit, and proceed to eat your food. It tastes almost like McD's, but the price is now the same, and the fries are still bad. You may as well just go to McD's as you don't have to stand outside in the rain, and the fries are way better. I walked up to the window, first thing I hear is, "I can't serve you without a mask." There was no, 'Hi, how are you?' or 'How are you doing?' There was no greeting what so ever. What happened to professionalism? What happened to common courtesy? What happened to giving people the benefit of the doubt? 1. There was no one around 2. There are 6' markers between me and the service window, which I would have abided by. 3. He's was wearing a mask (supposedly that works) And, 4. There is glass between us. My wife called ahead to see what COVID precautions they are taking. Though no one answered, they actually called back and left a detailed message about what they're doing--which is everything you'd hope for. When we visited, we saw that they were indeed masked, handling food OR money, and working quickly. Though busy, our order came out lightening quick. This is the best Dick's location I feel. It's a must overtime I come to visit Seattle to grab a burger and fries. Their special sauce that relates to a Mac sauce is flat-out tasty and delicious. This is the best location to avoid a heavy crowd unlike Cap Hill's famous location. Not to mention, Dick's is super cheap with about $3.5 for a deluxe burger and $2.25 for a special! Their fries can be a bit bigger in portion but nothing else needs to change. You get that old school classic burger drive-thru feel. Don't misunderstand my 3 stars on Dick's. It's a solid cheap burger place. But Dick's has two things: nostalgia and cheap burgers. If you're in need for a cheap dinner or late night burger Dick's is the place. But the burgers are VERY SMALL and if you're looking for taste, there are better options. The menu is ULTRA basic. Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Fries. Maybe another side or two. It's an alternative to settling for McDonalds. There's no indoor or outdoor dining. It's basically a drive up, park, then walk up to the window and order. An old-timey kind of burger place. 1000x better than in-n-out. This is a Seattle signature fast food burger. I order the special because it comes with the sauce. If you're rating the burgers with poor ratings and didn't get a special then you know why. I always grab an extra tarter sauce and add a lil extra sauce to it. The double is too much meat to bun ratio. The other burgers come without the sauce. I also add a chocolate shake. Service is always fast and friendly. This is a drive in style so of course there's no seating you're supposed to eat it in your car. The only bad thing I can say about this place is the name. I hate saying, "let's go get some dick's," ... "I feel like eating some dick's," ...etc. it just sounds awful but it's worth the embarrassment. read more

Oddly terrible service lately, not sure if different management or hiring problem, instead of taking an order and having you wait there for it if it isn't ready, they have you step to the side and wait awkwardly before making you come back through a huge line of people, who are not only waiting to order, but that have also been asked to step aside to wait for THEIR food, just keep everyone in a line until their food is ready like you used to, their milk shakes are also no longer fresh mixed, they pre mix them and then stick them in a freezer for later use so that they have frost on the top of the shake, fries are almost never ready so if you ask for them, your gonna get shoved into the "wait for your food" line next to the ordering line. read more

I love their cheeseburgers and simple menu. Reminds me of In n Out, but better! They have delicious thick milk shakes, fresh cut fries, and burgers for a very affordable price. They also have ice cream and root beer floats! I personally like their fries, however I know some people that think they're gross, greasy, soggy, and oily. Pretty decent service at this location. I had a Rocky Road ice cream scoop and, while it could be my perception, it seemed much smaller than I remember them being in the past. Pretty standard ice cream, and I usually like to come to Dick's for a quick scoop, but the draw for inexpensive ice cream here seems a little lost. read more

This is the In-N-Out in Seattle! If you're from California, you'll get it. In-N-Out is still better but this place is a basic burger joint. Prices are all under $3 and I highly recommend the deluxe burger. This is what you'll expect from a classic burger joint in Seattle. Fries are also pretty good. Food has always been good just disappointed to get charged for more food then what I paid for

The burgers here are garbage, I only go here when it's late and I'm desperate for something to eat. Clearly the the buns were frozen at one time. They taste/look like they have freezer burn. The burger meat is pressed paper thin and has zero flavor. The fries are soggy with vegetable oil, makes you physically ill if you eat them. I'm a regular here now, actually I'm a regular at all locations if I happen to pass by one of their location, but this one is the one that I visited the most. Just the other day I came by this location to get myself and my pup some good'ol burger I was amazed by something that I saw. There were a group of hearing impaired customers, who were ready to order with their pen and paper in hand, the cashier had the upmost patience and was paying close attention, then another employee saw it and came by and started using sign language with the customer, and got all the order in fast. It may just be by chance that one of the employee knows sign language but I was really impressed by all of their employees and how they helped each other and the customer out just like that. The great thing about Dick's are the amazing puns that people come up with. "I'm going to eat some Dick's." "I love having Dick's in my mouth." "I'm going to give my wife some Dick's.... and I'm going to have some Dick's myself." But, to be serious, this is a great and cheap local burger joint of Seattle. You can compare the cheese burgers with McDonald's and you'll notice that there's something quite special about coming here than McDs. Recently I ordered their Cheese Burger, their Special, and their Deluxe along with an order of fries and a Chocolate Shake. Each item costed me about $2 to $3 and that's one hell of a deal! The service is quite fast, but they only accept cash. I do wish they would add some tomatoes to their Deluxe and Special Burgers, but it's still pretty good. I'm not really down with the fries being soft. I prefer them to be really crispy and salted well. The shake was good, but it would be nice if they had a bigger straw so I can suck it up better. I also like the feel of the place since it's got this retro 50s kind of vibe to it. Overall, if you like affordable fast food with no hastle, then this place is for you. Food is cheap and good, but the service is terrible. I went here for the first time while on a road trip and didn't know the burgers are as is and you can't request an ingredient to be left off. Ate here many years ago at the drive-in in Ballard. It was my buddies favorite place to get burgers. This was back in the late 70s and I was not impressed with the hamburgers at all. Fast forward to yesterday my daughter and her friend stopped and got some cheeseburgers And brought home and I must say they were just as bad as they were in the 70s. I do not get the hype other than it's a local business. Hopped on over to Dick's for a quick lunch break during a league volleyball tournament. It happened to be the lunch rush on a Saturday but as always the lines move quickly with multiple cashiers ready and eager to take your order. We received our yummy milkshakes while we waited for a fresh batch of Dick's signature slightly soggy and perfectly salted fries. Burgers and fries were out in a jiffy and being a beautiful sunny and 52° day in late January we opted to flip open the tailgate to enjoy our lunch and the sunshine. Dick's is a local, chain hamburger joint in Seattle. It's a walk up restaurant rather than drive-thru. It has no indoor seating. I ordered a cheeseburger and french fries. I received the order quickly. The help was pleasant. The hamburger and fries were okay, not better or worse than a place like McDonald's or Burger King. Please note if you want ketchup for your fries, it'll cost you $.06 per packet. This appears to be a popular restaurant with locals. There are always lines at the walk-up windows. read more

I have lived in the Seattle area for about 8 years and I have eaten at this burger joint about 3 times. Everyone seems to love this place, but I don't feel like the burgers taste like anything special because it tastes like something I can make at home; it's just good for a quick fix. I would have given them 5 stars, but I found short curly hair in my mouth. When I looked at the rest of my fries there was another short curly hair. I know this place is called Dick's, but can you please leave your pubes out of my fries? I am sure they would have either refunded my money or given me a new set of fries, but luckily I have a dog who is happy to devour pube seasoned fries.
