Terrible facility and staff was clearly not completely trained. It shares location in a gas station next to Hampton Inn where we were staying. Bridget was tough and very fat it was badly trimmed before smoking. I ordered polish sausage and brisket late. Brisket was not good and they have me hot link not polish sausage. They were completely out of BarBQ sauce. Except for spicy which was remaining 1/4 in squirt bottles took them 3-4 minutes to get 3-4 table spoons out of the bottles. They were out of Okra and clue was off colored and tasted spoiled. Request ice in tea glasses person waiting on us told us to go to gas station and use their ice machines. I have never had a worse experience in a restaurant. My wife lived in DFwarea and ate at Dickeys hundreds of times in our 50 years living in TX. We drove for an hour to come to this location and we are more than satisfied. From the outside this location isn't much to catch your attention. Inside, there was some caution tape and tables marked off for some ceiling damage. But if you can get past that you will not leave here with a frown. We were greeted with a genuine smile and "How ya'll doing?" Handed a sample of the most amazing brisket. This staff loves what they do, are proud of it, and it shows! If we could bring them back to our town where our Dickey's is no more, we would. Fresh and delicious BBQ, a refreshing glass of sweet tea, and service with a smile. Service I will give a A both employees were extremely friendly and helpful. I had no complaint regarding the food either. It isn't the best BBQ around but it wasn't bad. My husband and I both ordered the two meat plate. We had the sliced brisket and ribs. We also ordered Cole slaw, green beans and a side of jalapeño beans. The restaurant is connected to the gas station. I think this location is one of the order ones as it certainly due for a renovation. Had the smoked wings. They were delicious! Nothing like good smoked wings. Wish they were bigger but that said they were tasty, very good flavor. They were coated with lemon pepper Wichita added a nice flavor. Wanted the potato something, obviously it is good because they had run out. So I selected their potato salad. It is on the sweet side. Traveling through Nacogdoches on 9-10-23. It was a Sunday so this was the only BBQ place we could find that was open. The workers were nice; however, the food was absolutely horrible. The ribs were solid black and burnt to a crisp. I cannot believe they actually put these ribs on a plate and served them. Awful food. Not edible. Table cloths were greasy and sticky. We were passing through town after house-hunting nearby,and craving good BBQ. The two gentlemen behind the counter were super friendly. Seriously fantastic service. Between the two of us, we had a little of practically everything... pulled pork, brisket, ribs, sausage, and chicken. All of it was excellent! As one of our sides,both of us had a cup of their brisket chili... yum! We came in starving and left stuffed. BONUS: when they saw us saving a few bites for our two little dogs in the car, they added some to our to-go box to give them even more, then offered water for our furkids too. Today I went in and they made the food fast for me. I haven't ate since yesterday evening because of a blood test I had to take earlier today so I was really hungry when I came in. The food defiantly satisfied me. They also told me about how if I buy a drink I get a free pulled pork sandwich after I got my meal. I got that and brought it to my husband and he was a happy man. I walked in and thought there was an accident as the restaurant was so smoke-filled it was visually hazy. It was old and run down, but I really wanted a Caesar with turkey. (This is where i should have walked out). Got the 2-meat plate with a side Caesar and creamed spinach. I initially wanted a large Caesar but after asking if the lettuce was fresh, I wasn't confident in her answer. I kept wanting to wait outside so I could breath and not smell like smoke, but I wasn't sure if they understood my order, and, the cashier told me the other girl must be in the restroom as she's calling her name, "you got a 2-meat!". Out of turkey. Out of Mac n cheese. I asked for pickles and onions and bbq. They forgot all 3. My roll was as hard as a hockey puck. There were no croutons. Cheese was cheddar vs Parm for a Caesar???? Cookies are mushy. The chicken was dry; pulled pork was hard to enjoy with no sauce and I keep smelling smoke in my hair and clothes in my hotel room and I'm mad that this place is serving food. Was in Texas over Christmas holiday and stopped in this place because all the other BBQ places in town were closed at 4:00pm Christmas Eve. We should have skipped this place because it made my girlfriend ill and she had to stay in bed with stomach pains all Christmas Day. We've never had REAL Texas BBQ and if this is any indication of what real Texas BBQ is supposed to taste like, We'll stick with Famous Dave's. The food was nothing to write home about, the sauce was too vinegary and the sausage didn't taste like anything I've ever tasted before. The only plus was the all you can drink sweet tea and pretty good fried okra. The mashed potato casserole looked like something like a science project, the green beans were mushy and over cooked. This Dickey's is in combination with a Shell gas station so that another obvious sign of mediocrity right from the get go. Got the two meat plate; super dry and burnt sausage, over cooked turkey, and rock hard biscuit made for a pretty crappy dinner. Crappy plastic silverware was definitely not up for the job of handling all that either.... Half of the soda options were out and free ice cream machine was on the fritz. Place needs a super good and deep cleaning, light bulbs replaced, and ceiling panels put back in place! I think they need to pay up on their satellite bill also because TV wasn't working. My girlfriend and I sat at the drive through order spot for 5 minutes shouting "HELLO" trying to get their attention, but nobody answered, so we drove up to the window and sure enough, not one person had their headset on. Nobody was at the window, and it took waving down the manager to get our order placed, and it was WRONG. Terribly slow, terribly organized, but okay good. Wasted a lot of time where I wouldn't have at another good establishment. Also, don't get the ice cream, they make their new employees slide their finger through it to be initiated. read more

This was the first time I've ever eaten at Dickey's. I was in town visiting and mentioned I wanted some good barbecue. Dickey's was highly recommended by a family member. We got there about 29 minutes before they were scheduled to close because we didn't realize they closed early on Sundays. The guys were very polite and never rushed us. We sat down and ate and everything was delicious! I wanted to buy a bottle of barbecue sauce to bring back with me and the guy gave it to me instead. I'm so happy I found this place! $45 down the drain! Had 2 rib plates. The ribs were no wider than 1 1/2 of my fingers (im a woman with small hands!), they were VERY dry, so dry that the meat "cracked" when bitten. The potato casserole had no flavor at all, the mac n cheese, didnt either. The BBQ baked potato was eaten by another family member, they said it was "just okay". Ordered the so called "Big BarBQue Sandwich", it wasnt any bigger than a McDonalds cheese burger! NEVER again will I spend my money at Dickeys! I used work here and it is the most unsanitory,gross, worst customer service and uncaring management you will ever see. The roof leaks on people, equipment is old,broken, and dirty. Employees could care less about you and then ask for tips. The food is way overpriced and less than steller to say the least. The meat sits in the warmer for hours and dries out. They dont go by health regulations at all, no temp checks ect. The place is filthy. I would come in to work and want to leave. The employees stay on their phones their whole shift and will ignore you and use profanity while customers are in the "resturant". Forget it if you want a holilday meal. They sold a 3 year old turkey to someone and they had to fight tooth and nail to get any sort of refund. There are so many better choices in Nacogdoches to choose from and the manager is " A little bitch" this was a direct quote from a customer the last day I worked there. This is the absolute worst Dickey's I've ever been to and they are usually great. We sat at the drive thru only to have no one ask for our order so we pulled up to the window and waited 5 minutes for a rude woman who looked like she may have been in charge, to open it and just look at us. Did she say "sorry about that may I take your order?" NO she just looked at us and before my husband was even finished ordering she walked away. We had both ordered sweet tea which is usually great at Dickeys but it had no sweetener in it whatsoever and when he told her politely that it wasn't sweet she took it rolled her eyes and brought us back the exact same tea. Tasted no better. We didn't get any bbq sauce or napkins or even the receipt. My husband went inside to get some mayonnaise that we had ordered on the sandwich only to be told that they didn't have any mayonnaise. Well it would've been nice if the woman who took our order had let us know that. So with no condiments it was dry and the tea was awful. We were there in total about 25 minutes at a drive thru ordering 2 sandwiches with nothing on them when their meat is already made. That is ridiculous and a complete wast of money and time. That woman should lose her job or whoever is running that place. It's gonna close down before long if they don't get their stuff straight. I know I'll never be back. read more
