Man, was I wrong about this place ! I thought this place would be like one of those big franchises with moderately decent ready made food, but Dickeys is a spectacular, made fresh daily by smoker restaurant, where every single meat item on the menu is sooo tender and tasty ! Had the brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken, and each one was better than the next. This Dickies is my favorite Dickies! That's coming from a person who was born and raised in SoCal, movies to NC with a few Dickies local, but don't like those locations. Whenever we come to Myrtle Beach we know we are stopping there. The owner is amazing, we met him in a previous trip and him and my husband had a good convo and all around great guy. You can also tell this by the people that work there. They are always the sweetest and I never feel rushed. My favorite is the jalapeno cheddar kielbasa, and my kids love the Mac and Cheese, plus the sweet little extra of an ice cream cone before you leave. Dickey's Barbecue Pit has some of the best beef brisket, you'll ever eat. They have good home made sides to go along with your entree. It is all fresh and hot when you get your order. Don't forget to safe room for the free ice cream after your dinner. I hate the Dickey's Barbecue in Murrells Inlet closed, because I don't get up to Myrtle Beach very often, but when I do, I make it a point to go get some great beef brisket, and the baked potato casserole is awesome, and some of the best fried okra around. read more

We Love Dickies, however, we just stopped at the one in Myrtle Beach off of the bypass. Not sure if this is the address or the store number but, #3735 was above the door. First of all, the place was So Dirty. The few tables they did have opened, weren't being wiped off or cleaned. We were doing it with the few paper towels & hand sanitizer. The person working with the meat wasn't changing her gloves, weighing meat on a scale with no parchment paper, not being wiped off in between orders, the food was cold. Employees outside smoking, coming in & not washing their hands. Restrooms were Awful, ice cream machine not operating, yet pop & refills were open??? 1st time here (visiting from out of town), and when i walked in, there was an amazing smell of bbqd meat. I ordered the 2-meat plate, with pulled pork and beef brisket, and my sides were creamed spinach and Caesar salad; DH ordered almost the same thing, but with chicken and beans. Chicken: so much flavor, and so very moist! No bbq sauce needed! Beef brisket and Pork: great Smokey flavor, but a little dry. Not to worry, tho, there are three different sauces to choose from, and packets of mayo for the non-bbq-saying heathens out there. I only gave 3 stars because I really came to Dickey's for ribs. I even went early around 11:00 because the other reviews said they run out of ribs quickly. When we arrived they said it was another hour and a half before the ribs would be done. I ordered the brisket and chicken and it was really good...especially the brisket! Tried this place.. im from out of town. I Thought it would be heavy. But it turned out to be delicious and well balanced. I didnt feel gross after. I chose the beef brisket. The flavour was delicious!! And i got two sides.. ceasar salad (yummy) and potato casorole...omg delicious!! And you get free icecream!!! And the yellow cupa or perfect as a souvenir. Ok my 5 stars does not mean it is Delmonico's steak house in NYC. What it does mean is the food is savory, plentiful and very reasonably priced. Family friendly as well. Read all the Yelp reviews and needing a fix, we traveled to Dickey's. Wish I could say the food was as dependable as the overalls of the same name! My wife ordered the smokehouse salad with ranch and a side of onion tanglers. Onions were tasty but salad was lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese and pork but was flimsy and she was hungry again before bedtime. Onion tanglers were supposed to be on top but they were not. She was glad she had ordered some separately. I had the two meat platter with dry spiral ham and three ribs. Ribs were tender but not filling. Barbecue beans tasted canned and I had to add BBQ sauce. Baked potato casserole was a cup of mashed potatoes with cheese and chives sprinkled on top--yuk! Ice cream was included but not good and I threw it out before finishing it. Dickey's was not a place I would pick while near the ocean, but I was with my hubby and son and sometimes you gotta let the men have a say. So glad I did. Best. Barbeque. Ever. I had the salad and the beef was great, what a tasty combo! Hubby had the pulled pork/ sausage platter and son had the pork sandwich. Very satisfied, all around. The worst BBQ I've ever had. I read a lot of Yelp reviews where people make sweeping generalizations like that, and I roll my eyes, but this was really not good at all. And I've eaten at Big Bob Gibson's BBQ (listed as a USA Today Top 10 BBQ joint in the Southeast,) so I like to think I'm not completely ignorant to how good BBQ can be. I don't even know where to start. My wife ordered a Pulled Pork plate (about $10) and I ordered a Ribs plate ($12 or $13.) We were both about 95% sure the meats in our meals had been microwaved. I know for a fact my ribs were pre-cut (as opposed to being left as a rack or half rack) and cellophane-wrapped before I saw the "cook" take them out. That, to me, is not what I envision when I picture eating ribs. Both of our meats were barely lukewarm... so, not even microwaved well, adding insult to injury. My ribs weren't cut well, so you'd bite into one side and there was bone, and then you flip and bite into the other side, and there was bone on THAT side. I could hardly get to the meat. And what meat there was was very fatty and had little bones in it (not just the main rib bones you'd expect,) so I had to eat around a lot of junk to get any "good" stuff. As far as sides / fixin's, I got green beans with bacon (tasted canned) and waffle fries, which were fine, but if I was on a pilgrimage for waffle fries, I'd just stop at Chick-Fil-A and save myself the trouble. The Mrs. got mac & cheese, which seemed okay, and I honestly can't remember her other side item. Even the rolls, which can usually add an unexpected goodness to a meal, were very blah and fake tasting. After we had agreed both of our meat portions were junk (she told me there were bits in her pulled pork that were so hard, it was like chewing jerky,) the manager came over and asked how we were doing. He seemed like a nice guy, and I honestly didn't have the heart to tell him how disappointed we were. I just wanted to eat what I could, and get out of there. Each meal comes with a free ice cream cone. I wasn't expecting miracles, and was ready to accept the typical basic non-waffle-cone cone... I would've been fine with that. We even said "they can't possibly screw up soft-serve ice cream." And we were wrong. The cone was as blah as I had expected, but the ice cream itself was even bad. It was vanilla soft-serve, but there was no vanilla flavor to it! It tasted like frozen milk with a spoonful of sugar thrown in. We begrudgingly ate our cones out by our car, and ended up just shoving the last bite in our mouths, despite the brain-freeze, just to be done with it. We were so bummed out when we were leaving that we were honestly talking about ways to salvage our evening. I shouldn't have expected much from a "fast food BBQ joint," but when you pay $30 for dinner for two, you expect better than absolute crap. I'm sorry, but that's what it was. Spend the same price and go to Sticky Fingers, down the road, if you want BBQ from a chain restaurant. If you want something truly good, do some internet research and find yourself a hole-in-the-wall BBQ place that really knows their craft. Will not go back to Dickey's, ever. Sorry. read more

There were no utensils in the bag and the bag was wide open. Not sufficient packaging for door dash ordering. The ribs were bland without sauce. The only positive was the macaroni & cheese. I usually love Dickies and my company routinely orders catered lunch for the whole staff. Today I went to the myrtle beach location for lunch. I ordered brisket and pork bbq. When I got my brisket, I noticed that there was a shiny piece of a good size of plastic in it. I pulled out the plastic intending on just picking it out and continuing my lunch. Instead, after I picked it out, I noticed bunches of smaller pieces of plastic all in my brisket from where they chopped it and did not pay attention. I walked my tray back up and let the employees know. They took it and gave me the tray back with new brisket and pork. I never asked for a manager but he came up to me and apologized and offered me a $5 coupon. I feel like I should have been refunded my whole meal!!!! I'm so disappointed! Terrific BBQ, simply put. If you want a salad then go to a place that specializes in salads. We got the XL Family Pack and a full rack of ribs and it lasted three meals for the four of us. The menu offers a much greater variety than their nearby competitor. Everything had plenty of flavor. The ribs were meaty, and the beef brisket was awesome (shredded, not sliced, BTW.) The pulled pork was average in comparison to other joints around the country, but still good. Loved the assortment of sides as options, all of which were decent. The service was top drawer. Cute little country bbq feel to the interior design. Easy walk up to the bar and order type of service kinda like subway. we both got a two meat plate. I chose spicy cheddar sausage and turkey breast with fried okra and the jalapeño beans. Hubby got chicken breast and polish sausage with Caesar salad and potato casserole. The meat was tasty, in our opinions. Hubby smothered everything of his in bbq sauce (just his style with everything he eats) but I used it sparingly so I could taste the meat itself. I've had better at home having grown up in the south with a family that does a lot of barbecue, but for a fast food type atmosphere it was really more than I expected! The fried okra was outstanding, my jalapeño beans were delicious, and although the casserole visually seemed a let down (since when is mashed potatoes with cheese and chives on top considered a casserole?) my husband said he enjoyed it. His Caesar salad lasted all of two seconds. Other people have said that the rolls had no flavor, but I thought they were fluffy and lightly salty and nice on their own but even better dipped in a little leftover bean sauce! Hubby didn't feel like indulging in the ice cream, but I gave it a try. It was a simple vanilla ice cream cone. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not bad eats and the place is clean. Price is just a couple dollars too high. Mid-July weeknight at dinner time, the wait was far from "fast food" but portions are adequate for the price. If you're a BBQ purist in search of the perfect 'q then you'll likely not leave excited. The brisket and pulled pig were cooked well if not just a touch dry. The sauce selection is sparse but if your choice is sweet tomato (KC) then you'll be satisfied. The beans and Mac-n-cheese were fine, not great, just fine. The menu is hard to navigate and is probably slowing the counter service. Overall, they're about par with most others in MBSC - just not super fast. read more

Obviously this is a chain restaurant and I have nothing bad to say about the staff or the cleanliness of the location I stopped at! The food on the other hand... that's where I had some issues. The pulled pork and pork spare ribs were delicious! Nice and tender but honestly you couldn't tell they were from a barbecue joint. The chicken was not good at all! Tasted of plastic and was just not pleasant. The fries were okay.. the onion strings were way too salty. This place was great! The most authentic smoked bbq we ate while at the beach. Yes I know it is a chain restaurant, but do not let that keep you from trying it. Pork, brisket, chicken, Turkey, polish kielbasa real southern sides. (I don't even like okra, but it was out of this world great.)
