This place is a 20 out of 10!!! The server was super fast & friendly. I was impressed with how quickly the tables were cleared off once a party had paid & left. Zero dirty tables here! Everything was so colorful and inviting inside. TVs all around, but not so loud that you can't talk to people at your table without shouting or sign language. Can we talk about the food!!!! We enjoyed River City in Socaste! We Wendy 6/29/25 and everything was great. The service was good and the ambiance rustic but cool and clean. Another fun thing is that you get peanuts and you can throw them on the floor! The fried Mac and cheese burger was delishious, too! And bigger burgers like the Kitchen Sink challenge hearty appetites. My fried guilty pleasures are Sweet Potato Fries, Cheese Poppers, and Shrimp Platter. Just spicy enough with the added chili and jalapeños. Okay. I must say, I love mom/pop restaurants/cafes/diners and I always prefer "hole in the wall spots" so of River City Cafe stood out mainly because of the uniqueness of the cafe. If you're visiting Myrtle Beach it may be worth a visit, especially if you're a burger person; they're known for their burgers. The salad was a basic house salad with mahi!! Although that could seem simple the mahi was seasoned just right. Can you say restaurantpitality? Well they definitely have it (if it were a word) lol They have complimentary peanuts when you walk in, you can throw the shell on the floor; that's fun! I love that this place still offers peanuts to eat while you wait! There is a wide variety of burgers at a very good price point! I grabbed the bacon cheese fries and the po boy! My fries were excellent! My po boy was stuffed with popcorn shrimp... which I personally would've preferred bigger shrimp. It was kind of a chore getting all the shrimp back in between my bread while taking bites. I also wish it came with some sauce other than cocktail sauce. This is such an adorable little diner with a waterfront view complete with and up close and personal front seat to watch the local swing bridge. I absolutely love the aesthetic and vibe of the entire place. It's so industrial yet cozy. Service was top tier. We didn't need to wait to be seated and our server was table side immediately with menus and read to take drink orders. Appetizers came out exceptionally fast followed in perfect timing with our main order. Overall a great experience and this will definitely a new favorite lunch spot! It was dried out and I didn't have the condiments to choke it down. The second time, my daughter talked me into trying the chicken tender meal and I was really impressed. They have a very small parking lot so it was difficult to find a parking spot. The wait to be seated was over an hour. One of the hostess recommended another location. I didn't know they had other locations. So we headed over to 5835 Dick Pond Road location. We were happy to see that there was plenty of parking. Experience: The inside was a decent size and was full of customers. We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was very nice and professional. It didn't take a long time for us to receive our food. I ordered the Nacho Crunch Burger and onion rings. The burger was topped with nacho cheese Doritos, jalapeños, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, onion, guacamole, and spicy chipotle mayo. I don't like spicy food so they took off the jalapeños and I switched spicy mayo out for regular mayo. The sandwich wad delicious! My friend let me their Big Island Burger and that was amazing! We have recently moved into the area and had eaten lunch there on day. It was really good. A week later we went back for a "later" dinner..it was fairly empty around 8pm. We were seated and another family with 2 small children sat close by. I saw the father get up and stomp on something and sit back down. The mother and children had a look of fright on their faces. I looked down and saw a Palmetto walking under my table. I jumped up and the waitress acted like nothing was wrong and stomped on it and removed it. So that told me that it was not unsual for roaches to be in that restaurant. We got our order to go (which I hardly ate) and realized that I will NEVER go back to that the Roach Coach again.
