I grew up in the era of drive in movie theaters and drive in restaurants. This place embodies the spirit of both! The interior is nostalgic 50's & 60's decor from the booths to the bar stools. Buns of all types stacked on top of each other. We walked in and were immediately greeted. The staff behind the counter (probably not much younger than I am) recognized I was having childhood flashbacks and just let me wander around the place. I decided to go with a regular hot dog (mustard, chili, onions) and a BLT. Love my BLT sandwiches and this place didn't disappoint! Crisply bacon, fresh tomato and crunchy lettuce. Add a slap of mayo and I had one of the best BLT's ever! The only thing that tops it is my father's Sunday brunch BLT. Great little place in the corner with awesome food. I went in the middle of the week when it was slow. I haven't been there in over 20 years and returned to try it again in March of 2026, the service was friendly and fast but the food wasn't the same as when I use to eat there as a kid. Fries always dropping fresh in the oil. Burgers perfectly seared on the flat top right behind the counter. Super fresh and hot and the chilli complements well. It's not too over powering with chilli powder. In Birmingham, AL that's just special sauce. I enjoyed and I'll grab another before I leave town. Had to go back, my third visit in four days. I can't give Rosco enough praise. He knows his way around the grill and everything tastes great. Want to share this. Watched a bottle of ketchup fall and instead of picking it up and contaminating his food handling gloves, he asked someone to pick it up and get a new one. Great job of keeping the public safe. If you are looking for a 5 Star restaurant, this is not for you. If you are looking for great Hamburgers, Hotdogs or other beach food, this is the place for you. I hate to admit it, but I have been coming here since 1976. The burgers and fries are awesome and the beer is cold. There is a limit supply of mini bottles, but not on Sunday. Since 1976, Sam's has been serving some awesome hot dogs (chili, onion, and mustard). But I have to admit, we like to try all of their offerings. I have fallen in love with their Fried Bologna sandwich. It's about an inch thick and deep fried perfectly. Served with tomato and lettuce. Absolutely delicious! We love coming to Sam's Corner. It's a great location right across the street from the Garden City Pier. I love the foot long chili dogs with onions. So good! My husband likes the Bacon Cheeseburger and we split the fries. They also serve alcohol and beer. Great games including pin ball also. They have a friendly staff also. I highly recommend! read more

We came here bc there are limited restaurants in the area and our family was overdue for lunch. My son had a corn dog, my daughter and I had cheeseburgers (they were out of bacon), and 2 orders of fries. My husband can't have gluten so he ordered their grilled chicken salad (which he normally does when we can't order gluten free buns, it's not a huge deal... we make it work) The reason I'm taking the time to write this review is that the salad was absolutely pathetic and it cost $7!! It was maybe a 1/4 cup of lettuce, a cut up tomato slice, some grilled chicken and pickles?!?! I've never had a salad where it included dill pickles rounds and had so little lettuce!! Oooo and we had to ask for salad dressing?!? Burgers were ok, frozen patties cooked on the grill. Corn dog wasn't anything special. And the fries.... over cooked, some complete inedible and no seasoning (not even salt) on the fries. The sign outside says "world famous hotdogs"... I doubt that after having what we had. Also there was no hand soap in the restrooms. Lastly, an employee in the kitchen area cursed in front of our kids, not to our kids... but was having a loud conversation with a friend and said it, like it was a normal word.... while our kids and other children were around him. read more

Great, no-frills diner food with incredibly reasonable pricing. Excited to see that after the post-Ian renovation that they now have 6 taps including a local craft beer. I do wish they tossed their fries in a little salt, but they have s&p at the table, malt vinegar, and ketchup to doctor them to your hearts content. This little hotdog joint is exactly what you would expect. It's cheap, and quick. There is no AC, just some fans running so don't expect to cool down quickly. We got some hot dogs, cheese fries, onion rings and a corn dog. Everything was good, and for four people we spent right under $30. They don't really get a chance to clean up each table quick enough since the turnover is so fast. But for being right off the beach, it's a great place to grab a quick bite! read more

Pluses: the guy working the counter was totally nice enough, 2- they are open during the winter, 3 - they have Old Bay and malt vinegar. . But, it smelled like cleaning solution and the crab cake was frozen, then microwaved, then deep fried. The only reason to go here IMO is for the footlong chili dog. It's great and worthy of five stars. The rest of the place is pretty rough and some may be turned off by its appearance as a super dive. My experiences here have always been pleasant but I have never been here late at night when the 'over served' are looking for some grease and coffee to sober up a little. There are some local items on the menu which I haven't tried because I can't get past the chili dog. A couple are the Pimento cheeseburger, the ElPaso sandwich which is grilled pimento cheese, bacon, jalapeños and tomato on grilled wheat bread. Surely that sandwich will fix a hangover! Breakfast and lunch 24 hours a day in beach season. Indoor booths and counter seating. Outdoor tables for people watching. Cold beer on tap in frosty mugs. Great little place right by the Garden City pier. I had the footlong hotdog with chili and cheese. It was really good. It's in a great location and I will definitely stop by again and maybe try the Italian sausage. read more

Great little burger by the beach joint. Sign inside says 'since 1976'! A lot like a diner atmosphere, or like Waffle House - you can see everything being cooked from a counter. We had burgers & fries, pretty standard stuff but price was good & food was fresh & tasted good! They have good breakfast deals too......door said open 24 hours! Outside tables have nice shade, tables didn't seem the cleanest, but if you are fresh off the beach it prolly won't matter to you, we sat on our boogie boards & used a few extra napkins.......Hubby says men's room was all new tile & was clean! DEF better looking than the pier restaurant right across the way, which did not strike me as being the cleanest! Update next day......went for breakfast & it was really good. No fluff (no pancakes or French toast), just straight b'fast fare. All tasted great. Staff did not all seem real happy in general, but a younger gal was the nicest & was pleasant - doesn't effect the food! read more
