This a nice place to meet some friends for lunch. We tried to sit outside but there was not a breeze to be found. The staff quickly found us a place inside. I ordered the peanut butter bacon burger. If you have never had a peanut butter burger, you don't know what you're missing. The burger itself was well cooked. We make it a point to come every year burgers are great little sad they didn't have the fried pickles but still delicious.

Parking was very easy. I know of two lots that were close both of which were free but I think one of them was only free after 6pm. Make sure you read all the signs! We really loved our experience here. We had a group of ten (I know, we were THAT group!) but we were able to sit at the bar until a table became available. The bartenders were friendly and the beer was super cold (and cheap!) They also gave us really cut plastic cups that we were able to keep. Our waiter was great. He was very patient with us and was very prompt in refills and bringing our food. The burgers were EXCELLENT. I got the mac and cheese burger which was one of my favorite things to eat this week. My only complaint was it was a little dark inside...bad for taking photos LOL. But I bet the view on the deck was stunning. I'll have to sit there next time when I go with a smaller group. read more

I've been coming to this location for almost 10+ years and I've never had anything bad, but also I feel like it's the best location due to the waterfront view and being right beside the pier. AMBIANCE = 3 Going up the main stairs to be seated. They set it up that people can do graffiti on the walls. Feels like one is walking in a subway that has been abandoned or factory. Offer shelled peanuts which can be thrown on the floor. Working to create a dive environment. There is inside and outside seating. We choose to sit in the none sunny area outside. There is a set of stairs that come up off the beach as well. 2. FOOD/DRIINKS = 3 Had new England style clam chowder. Ok. High salt content. Burgers were good though messy. Had a local IPA was good. Food came hot and in time. 3. SERVICE = 4 I give a 4 because from the person who seated us was upbeat and accommodated our request for seating. The waitress was aware but not overbearing. 4. BATHROOM = NA did not use. There is one located in parking lot area. 5. PRICING = 3 What you would expect. Burger. Tea. Beer. Soup came out $40 tax is 10%. 6. OBSERVATION My overall impression was good though this is the low time of the season and it was mid afternoon. I would probably try some of the other places that are in the general area of the pier. This is one of our favorite beach trip restaurants. Why? Lots of reasons. The main one? The best breaded mushrooms you can find! Seriously. Iv been on the hunt for good breaded mushrooms since I moved from Colorado and this is the place for them. So big. So juicy. Crunchy outside. So good. The other food is also great. I love the ranch and the fries. Good piña colada. We forgot to take pics but will drop some next time. If you come bring a sharpie so you can sign the walls! Take your cup as a souvenir. My family has been coming to River City Cafe for years. Usually multiple times during the same beach trip. Sadly, we won't be coming back. Not sure what has happened with the company, but something has changed. Popcorn shrimp is gone from the menu. The fried cheese was frozen on the inside. The chicken strips were so overly deep fried, my daughter, whose favorite meal is chicken strips barely ate 1 of them. The other shrimp were just frozen, overly fried junk. One of my kids was determined to try a slice of confetti cake, which was old and terrible - one bite was all it took. So disappointed. read more

Holy cow!! Food and atmosphere is phenomenal. Food came out fast and fresh, cooked nicely. Waitstaff is personable. We got the nacho crunch burger, and the jamming jalapeño burger and oh my goodness. Coming from food industry you know they care more about quality than quantity when the jalapeños are fresh and not pickled. This was a place that we found on our mini vacation while in Myrtle Beach. We were looking for something local and stumbled upon this diamond in the rough. When you arrive you will see that it's decorated just about like a pirate ship with stuff all over the place for you to ooh and aw about. We were sat outside on the rear deck which was kind of tight but smelling the saltwater air and the Beautiful views made it bearable. Nothing special here. It's a popular spot in Surfside but I'm not entirely sure why. The place has a cool vibe and is located right next to the beach. The servers seemed to quite busy as it took us awhile to get refills on our drinks. We all ended up getting burgers. I had the RC Burger which sounded great, however the burger was dry, dry dry. You'd think the chili on the burger would help out but it didn't. My brother in law had their Kitchen Sink Burger which is one of those burgers with two grilled cheese taking the place of hamburger buns and a ton on items inside. It's a monster. He seemed to like it considering he finished the entire thing. All of our burgers had onion rings which looked great but when you take a bite it's really a ton of breading. I wasn't a big fan. My wife a friend and I stopped by here for some dinner. This place was great. The staff were very friendly. There are peanuts on the table you can enjoy while you wait for your food. You just throw the shells on the floor. The food was very good. We both got hamburgers, which is what they are known for. They were so good. I also ordered some onion rings for an appetizer, dang they were big wow. Looking at the ocean was nice while we ate. We will definitely be back. As soon as we walked through the door, there was a weird smell in the hallway. We didn't have reservations, but our party of 4 was quickly seated outside. I've been warned about the peanuts on the floor, so I wasn't weirded out about it. What led to my review of a 3 is because our table wasn't clean, hallway smelled pissy, and our waitress had a little attitude with my friend when she inquired about her meal and requested more Jalapeños. (Be aware that some toppings are extra, but their portion size is not worth the money they are upcharging). You'll get extra if you ask for it on the side versus them adding it to your burger for you. Ok, now back to my meal.... I ordered a regular cheeseburger with blue cheese and my desired condiments. It was good. I like my burgers, simple and sauce. It did what it was supposed to do. I'm happy I didn't order a side of fries because it was soggy from the heavy oil and without any flavor. If you want a quick bite, pull up. I may not understand the hype with the reviews, but I understand everyone's experience is different. Dinner w/sister & cousin during Myrtle Beach trip. Arrived 50 minutes before they closed but received no 'tude. :) Interesting ambiance with tons of license plates from all over the country thru the decades, and pics of famous peeps. Restaurant is upstairs, and outside seating was full, so we ate at a table near the balcony. Server was prompt, perky and helpful. Cousin had the teriyaki chicken burger, no bun, w/farm to table sweet potato fries. All chicken is marinade in their pineapple soy blend, and I have to say, it was the most TENDER chicken breast, tasty without all that sticky, drippy teriyaki, I've ever tasted in my life. Sweet potato fries were very good as well. Sister and I split the BBQ sandwich which was supposed to be vinegar based. It was tasty, but having spent over a decade in Alabama, where vinegar and white sauce are king, it missed the mark. Coleslaw was edible but heavy mayo and definitely would have ruined the sandwich if topped with it. The additional 49 cents for the upcharged onion rings got us literally TWO onion rings. Moral of the story: take the offered fries and order an app of the onion rings. It's bound to have more than 2 onion rings. Oh, and eat BBQ in a BBQ joint, not a hamburger joint. No leftovers. Food is okay. The wait can be kind of long at times since they have a good view. There is a little waiting room on the first floor since there isn't room to wait inside the restaurant. I got the surf and turf burger and I asked for medium rare. It came medium well but still tasted okay. The popcorn shrimp on it didn't add any taste at all and just tasted like a regular burger. Add this to my "I'll be back" list. Placed a call in order last night (10/24/21) with the guys I'm at the beach with. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries and it didn't disappoint! I was told 25 minutes and arrived just as it was coming out of the kitchen so we got it back to the beach house while it was still piping hot. The burger was extra tasty and juicy. The bacon could have been cooked a little longer, but that's just my personal preference. It had a great smoky flavor and was really good. Great place to grab a burger. Fantastic service and the view on the third floor was great. When we got there, they put us in a table that was in the back of the room. I asked to sit near the window with the view and they accommodated with no problem. It's a very down to earth beach vibe with license plates on the walls from all over. It's definitely worth it.
