Was this the best barbeque I've ever had? Obviously not. But hear me out. We're not talking about a local mom and pop spot, we're talking about franchise fast food bbq, people. And it was shockingly good. I'll be the first to admit I'm not super into BBQ. I'm a little picky about it and if we hadn't been given a gift card I would have never, ever gone here. Why? Because it's freaking fast food BBQ in a city immursed in amazingly delicious restaurants. But, luckily for Dickie and his BBQ, I was feeling too lazy to cook, I had been holding into a gift card for over a year now and honestly, I was afraid they might go out of business due to the not so great Yelp reviews I've read about them. Well, friends.. Dickie proved me wrong. We did take out (again... Lazy. New mom over here and I wear sweatpants 90% of my week so, yeah) and sure, the food was room temp by the time my husband got it home, but that was the least of my concern. I expected dry meats, flavorless mac and cheese and skimpy portions, again, due to the rough reviews and the franchise fast food situation. What I ate was exactly the opposite. Everything was perfectly cooked, *moist* even (ugh, worst word ever however necessary in this context). The meats and all of our sides were super flavorful. Between the two of us we ended up with sliced brisket, pulled pork, jalapeno cheddar kielbasa, and ribs. We also had mac n cheese, creamed spinach and coleslaw. Want me to go into details? Sure thing. My in-laws have my kid right now so I've got some spare time... What to get: The pulled pork and the brisket were both really good, but that jalapeno cheddar kielbasa... That, sir, was the shocker of the meal. So freaking good. The mac and cheese, while some may say the mac was too soft, I found to be reminicent of Stoffers. And who doesn't love Stoffers Mac n Cheese?! GTFO. Coleslaw was perfectly balanced and super crunchy and the spinach was really good too! Sort of like a spinach artichoke dip. What to skip: The ribs were the let down. My husband ordered them as one of his three meat choices and he literally got one semi-dry, underwhelming rib. The dinner rolls were nothing to write home about. They would have been better if they were a little softer and were served with that sweet, soft butter. Service is quick, but they don't have a bar. This is more like fast food bbq and that's okay by me. Ordered the family pack (2 meats, 3 sides and 6 rolls). Chose the chicken and the brisket as our meat options and the potato salad, cabbage slaw and Mac and Cheese as our sides. All the food was good and the staff was friendly. The brisket and the Mac and Cheese were our favorites. It wasn't nearly the best, but everything was pretty tasty and I will go back because when I think bbq, I just have to have it. read more

Being a Texan and being very far from home, Dicky's Barbecue Pit hit all the spots my lil sad heart needed!!! Great ribs and brisket, totally melt in your mouth type of BBQ. Hit it with a side of Mac & cheese and baked beans with a sweet tea, I'll be in full nap mode in about 20 minutes. Thank you and I'll see Dickey's bbq real soon. Meeeeh. This isn't one of the better barbecue places in town. I got a one meat plate with pulled pork, green beans and jalapeño beans. There was a lot of fat in my pork, big inedible chunks. Person I was with got a two meat plate, and somehow it looked like he got less meat than I did. Also a lot of fat in his brisket. I expect this when I cook, because I'm too lazy to trim. But since I also get to choose my own portion, that's ok. Dickies, for you, this is not okay. Sides were alright but nothing special. Use of trays make your food seem tinier than it really is. I don't know what to say. What's the politest way possible to say "don't do it to yourself?" Imagine that's what I said. I didn't think I was super picky about BBQ spots. I have tolerated some places that are far from high-quality (Famous Dave's), but I could not take more than a couple of bites. Someone actually picked up a pulled pork sandwich etc., for me, and I felt absolutely terrible that I couldn't finish it until they too opted to throw their food out. I try not to waste food, so that speaks volumes. I have never had such greasy, fatty meat in my entire life. At one point I choked on a glob of fatty meat that was obviously more fat than meat. I blotted at some of the pork because it was so greasy, but of course there is only so much you can do. The worst part about it was seeing how sick the other person looked (because of the grease) because they react to thinks fairly quickly and it takes a while for me. You spend the next hour or so filled with dread because you know you're going to feel ill too. Maybe they had an off day, but I can't say I'll try them out again to determine if that's true. read more

We went to Dickey's for lunch, having been to this Dickey's a couple of other times and Dickey's in Erie as well. Giving it three stars because I haven't written a review for this Dickey's yet, the three stars is a mix of two four-five star experiences and the most recent being a one-star experience. I think it's unfair that folks rate Dickey's lower for not having alcohol, this Dickey's simply doesn't and that shouldn't be held against them. If you want to drink, go somewhere else. We think the food at Dickey's is generally pretty good, the style of barbecue is unique and so when we go there we know we're going to have something different. I especially like the ribs, my son likes the sliders. Unfortunately, this last time we went we had an odd experience that turned rude. When we went in Dickey's was pretty quiet, only one table was taken. We ordered at the counter, got our yellow cups and went to get ourselves drinks. My son received his food very quickly, quickly is the norm at Dickey's, my food did not arrive. Or so it seemed. We were sitting on the side of the restaurant by the counter away from the drinks and garbages, we tend to like to sit away from where the "traffic" is going to be. I told my son to go ahead and eat, there must be an issue. My food was still not arriving. I stood and looked over at the guys behind the counter a couple of times, they looked back at me, I sat down. They didn't seem to be making my food, they didn't seem to be doing much of anything. Finally I asked the preparer if he was going to make me my food. He looked at me a bit dumbfounded and asked me what I ordered, which I told him. He looked around and then pointed, my tray was sitting on a table by the drink station. I asked him to make me a fresh sandwich since it had been at least 15 minutes, which I believe he did, and he brought me my food to my table. While I was eating the cashier/server came out and told me that he had put my food behind me while I was getting my drink, and that he had told me he did that while I was pouring. I told him that I didn't hear him (no kidding, right?) and asked him if my lack of a response wasn't noticeable. He then tried to blame me for the situation by telling me he did this all the time. Well, that's lousy customer service. Sorry to tell the truth. Some folks don't hear that well, or are deaf in one ear. Good customer service is to make sure that the customer has their food, and then take ownership for making mistakes. We're all human. Truth be told if the cashier/server had taken ownership I probably wouldn't be slamming him here. But maybe he needs an attitude adjustment. Probably not returning to this location, sorry. read more

The food is okay. I feel like it's a bit over-priced for what it is, and the portions aren't very big. I've eaten here a few times and never been particularly blown away but nothing was necessarily bad. I do like their variety of sauces, and their pickles are great as well. I would probably categorize this as a "fast food" style BBQ place. I usually do not review chain restaurants but I'm making an exception due to the fact that I did not know this was a chain before eating there. So I heard about them having an all-you-can-eat pulled pork option on Wednesdays so I knew I had to give it a try. I'm a sucker for BBQ and make it AYCE and I'm sold. I did not set high expectations before hand since it's so easy to mess up pulled pork (too dry, bland, etc.) But I was pleasantly surprises when I visited Dickey's. The restaurant was not very busy and I got service immediately. The two people working were very friendly and refilled my tray without hesitation. The pulled pork was very good, smoked and full of flavor. I also tried all three types of BBQ sauces and a handful of sides. I would have to rank the Sweet BBQ sauce as my favorite. It was very unique and had a nice blend of spices. I was expecting more heat from the Spicy BBQ sauce but it did not really pack a punch. The traditional sauce was solid but the sweet sauce just had more flavor. As far as the sides go I would have to say the mac and cheese was my favorite. My second favorite would have to be the baked potato casserole (basically mashed potatoes).The Jalapeño beans come in just short of second but take third. Followed by their sweeter counterpart the BBQ beans (baked beans). The coleslaw was your standard run of the mill coleslaw, nothing special here. Finally the green beans were heavily seasoned which got to be a little too much by the end but still not bad. The dinner rolls were warm and moist and I had no complaints with them. All in all, I was very pleased with my experience at Dickey's. For $13 you can't beat the deal. I might have to go back on a Thursday for their AYCE ribs. read more

This review is only regarding the food. Ordered the brisket, pulled pork, corn muffin, jalapeno beans, Mac n cheese. Outstanding pulled pork, juicy, flavorful, finely shredded. Perfect. The brisket was beautiful, no pink smoke lines, but very tender and smokey. The sauce was a mix of sweet and heat. The Mac n cheese was nice and savory. The beans had a tinge of heat and molasses overtones. We pass this place all the time and joke about how we would never go to a BBQ place that doesn't have smoke coming out of the property. Now, I'm not sure but I think the food is prepared off-site - but the taste was literally the best BBQ we've had in years outside of Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester, NY. read more

Stopped in here for a quick take out dinner one night when they first opened while the wife was too busy for dinner. I ended up getting the brisket with a side of Mac & Cheese and the potato salad. I made a point of getting at least one of every kind of BBQ sauce they had on my way out the door. I absolutely love BBQ and this place looked like a slam dunk. The brisket itself was poorly cooked and ultimately kind of tough. I tried it with a variety of sauces and didn't find any of them particularly enjoyable. The sides were pretty good, but not good enough to save the meal. The ribs were excellent and I'm more and more convinced that ribs are what you really need to order at any BBQ joint to have a good meal. The seasoning was great, they were super tender. My one complaint is that there were 2 bones with hardly any meat on them. So basically you're paying for the bones, not the meat, since you pay by the pound here. Pulled pork was awesome too. The kielbasa was good. Nice and smoky, snappy skin. The brisket? Bleh, no. Dry. Yuck. I rarely enjoy BBQ brisket. I've only had moist brisket once, all other times it's been dry which seems standard and is a let down. I don't like that I had to fill my own BBQ sauce containers on my way out. If I order again, I will specify for the staff to include BBQ sauce in the order. They have 3 different kinds - original, sweet, and hot/spicy. They're all pretty decent. The sides? To me, they're completely sub par. This would keep me from coming back. We ordered potato salad, coleslaw, mac & cheese, baked potato casserole, and baked beans. The potato salad is standard, same as what you get like at Tops. Coleslaw, same. Beans, eh. M & C, meh. Potato casserole, Blech! It's mashed potatoes with bacon and chives mixed in and it just isn't good. I was really disappointed with that one. My brother was hoping for waffle fries, I was hoping for the stuffed spuds on other menus. The meats, minus the brisket are great. The sides are all meh or blech. Like I said, the staff was extra excited. I won't rush to come back here, I still think Kentucky Greg is the king of BBQ, but it's okay in a pinch. I must say I am a fan of their BBQ. I lived in NC for 5 years and I am used to vinegar BBQ so moving back north I have not found a sauce bbq that I have liked and Dickey's has hit the spot. The original sauce is perfect it has the right amount of sweet, spice, and smoke. Also their coleslaw is perfectly seasoned and does not have too much mayo. The pork fell apart and was super tender. WOW!! The absolute worst dickies we have ever eaten at! We've eaten at dickies in Texas, in a pinch and in Oregon. We were the only ones in there and the kid behind the counter could barely be bothered. Aside from giving us the wrong sides, I asked for a fatty cut a brisket and basically given beef jerky. The same for my husband. He also ordered jalapeño cheddar sausage which was OK. We had green beans, potato salad and pinto beans as our sides and none of which were exceptionally flavorful. They also did not have an area for pickles onions and jalapeños, as does every dickies across the country. On our way out we saw a notice that said they strive for excellence in service to their valued customers, the kid behind the counter was staring at his phone. I knew going in that it probably wouldn't be a stellar experience, but the food reminded me too much of the high school cafeteria. This was absolutely disappointing. When I went in, the place was completely empty and truth be told, that should have warned me. The 2 meat plate was 12.99 and featured 2 ribs, a handful of brisket and 2 sides (not even a drink). The brisket was splitting in thr sense that it was either completely fatty or dry. I'm just confused. This is a BBQ pit that doesn't grill or BBQ anything that I can tell. The kielbasa was super soft. No snap. ZERO grill marks or flavor. Delicious! My parents and I ordered the family pack, which came with two meats, three sides, and a choice of rolls or cornbread (fun fact: you pay an additional cost for getting the cornbread). We went with sliced brisket and ribs, Caesar salad, green beans, and Mac n cheese. The food was hot and fresh and plentiful--we all enjoyed dinner with leftovers! The only side that didn't make more than three servings was the salad. My dad ordered the food online and it was properly packaged and ready for him to pick it up on the way home from work. This is a company out of Texas, and they've just brought real BBQ to Western New York! I stopped in one day for a quick lunch between appointments and boy was I glad I did! This has got to be the best barbeque I've ever had!! I got the pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw and mac n cheese as sides....thr lunch specials come with the sides! Gotta be the best slaw and best mac n cheese ever too!! It was so good I purchased a gift card for my husband for his birthday!! We went together recently and were not disappointed! We both love good BBQ and the area was lacking for a good place with equally good food and service since Kentucky Greg's closed, but this was by far the best we'd both had! Well worth the drive for us!The manager and staff were outgoing and friendly both times! Can't say enough good things! They don't smother the meat in sauces- you can choose your own kind and amount on your own. The prices aren't bad, and we were so full we couldn't even try the pecan pie or blondies they have there as deserts! And they have a food truck!!! Basically fast food bbq and it's not the worst you will have. Def a go to place if you aren't willing to spend the nice bbq place price. It will suit your craving and so the job. Ordered thru Grubhub for a try and was very surprised, exceeded expectations for franchise BBQ. The 3 meat platter was excellent! The sliced brisket was moist and flavorful, the pulled pork was spot on and the turkey had an excellent brine to it. Tried them all without sauce at first, then a dip in some Sweet Baby Rays for compliment...very satisfying! The mac and mashed potato sides were also good, definitely looking forward to the sit down experience now to sample some ribs! read more
