Been here a couple times hoping it gets better but yet again disappointed. Had high hopes when they moved in and the smoker smells great from outside but the food just hasn't been on point yet. We've tried the smoked wings, brisket, turkey and pulled pork and all at some point have come out dry especially the brisket. The smoked turkey has been the most consistent and the macaroni and cheese is fantastic. Also a big fan of their homemade bbq sauces. Gotta give Yankee "5" - Parking lot was slammed when I pulled in. Grabbed a seat at the bar to look at the menu and watch football. The staff was in hustle mode but everyone was being taken care of and some folks were obviously regulars. The service was friendly and on a personal level with the regulars. We loved Yankee BBQ at their takeout location on Route 5 in Hamburg, so we were excited to try out the new location. Parking appeared to be shared with the business next door. It's floor to ceiling Bills memorabilia inside, and there are a few TVs around. The bartender and hostess greeted us right away, and the server came by shortly after we sat. We decided to split a large sampler. It's more than enough food for 2, Loganberry BBQ Sauce goes with everything, the turkey and cheesy potatoes were my favorite- that hasn't changed from the old location. Food was good... as always! However, portion wise it was not worth the money. I spent $66 on the large sampler but you get more buy 2 of the $33 3 meats 3 sides sampler... the sides were very small. The service was good. Order was taken immediately and food came out quickly! They've only been open for 6 days so there were some small issues but it did not effect the service such as being unsure about Apple Pay and using the phone for payment, but no biggie bec I had my credit card. I do miss the traditional Texas line for the food where you order the food as you work your way down the line than grab a seat. We have always wanted to stop but seem to forget about it! We are so glad we stopped for dinner today. The smoked turkey and brisket were delicious and fork tender. The beans and mac and cheese were also really good. My husband had the fries and they were odd, they were fresh cut but seemed like they were cooked and then heated up and got really over cooked. I was really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately, I was disappointed within the first five minutes of walking in. The restaurant wasn't very busy, yet we still waited about five minutes to be seated--even though the host clearly noticed us. Once seated, I started a stopwatch out of curiosity. It took 10 minutes before anyone came over to acknowledge us. It honestly felt like we were an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. While our waitress was polite and kind, but yelled across the restaurant to see if we were ok . The other floor staff were openly discussing internal issues and complaints about other restaurants right in the dining area--definitely unprofessional. On a more positive note, the cook who brought out our food was courteous and professional. He was also the only one who asked if we needed anything else. As for the food: I've been barbecuing for 30 years and have tried BBQ in over 15 states, so I know what to expect. Unfortunately, the ribs were underwhelming. The bark from the rub was too heavy and tasted burnt. The brisket was decent--flavorful, though it had a bit too much fat left on it, and again, the rub made it taste slightly burnt. The standout items were the sides. The baked beans and mac and cheese were excellent--definitely the highlight of the meal. Our group also ordered the wedge salad with pulled pork, which was very good. Overall, the food wasn't terrible, but the service needs serious improvement. I plan to give it another try in a few months, possibly at a different time or on a different day. However, if the current issues persist, I'm not confident the restaurant will be around for the long haul. I truly wish them the best of luck, I would love them to be in business a long time, but their service needs A LOT of work, and more training. read more

Giving 4 stars for what feels like a new or up and coming restaurant that doesn't quite yet have everything together. I sat at 3:45 and was only given the option for the lunch menu, dinner started at 4. I feel like my options were a little limited. The menu seems a little all over the place and is a little confusing to be honest. The sausage was pretty decent, but besides that everything was bland and just meh. The Carolina bbq sauce was decent, but I actually hated their house sauce. It was very weird. Smoked mac n cheese was super bland, super dry. Service was decent, except the food runner when setting my plate down spilled my sausage on the bar top and just looked at me until I put it back on the tray myself. First impressions , the new home for yankee is really quite nice inside, very clean and well decorated with all kinds of bills memorabilia. I chose the brisket, pulled pork , fries and cheesey potatoes. The misses selected the turkey, pork, tots and smoked Mac. The food came out rather quickly, but the only downside was it was all lukewarm at best. Now I don't expect bbq to be piping hot (nobody wants overcooked meat), but at least a little warmer than it was would have been nice. Flavor though was good (the misses remarked it was heavy on the pepper), portions were definitely a little on the small side for the brisket (3ish slices total) and the sauces were all great. We also got some cheesecake to go, but that has yet to be sampled. When you walk in, the ordering counter is in front of you, menu & kitchen to the right and a small dining area (about 10 tables) to the left. The staff was friendly & you could tell they cared about your experience. The menu has sandwiches, sides, mixed platters, dessert, beer & more! We ordered the sampler platter for 4, which came with turkey, brisket, pulled pork, hot sausage links, ribs and 4 sides (we opted for Mac & cheese, baked beans, cheesy potatoes and slaw). All the meats were smoked wonderfully, very flavorful & great texture. I loved it all, but the star of the show was the brisket; it had a smoke ring so beautiful it could bring a tear to your eye! Second runner up was the hot sausage... It was spicy, but not too spicy, with great flavor and little cheesy bits throughout. The special on Wed was Loganberry burnt ends. I have been wanting to try this small but busy BBQ place since I moved to WNY. I finally had the time to come in and try their food and drinks. Lots of Bills memorabilia. As they should. Not super noisy and the music is there just not overwhelming which makes for great conversations with your company and the waitstaff. These ladies are so sweet. They do not split checks which I'm super fine with so bring enough to split in your own or hit the ATM in the corner. Don't threaten with a bad review just cause. Decided to try Yankee bbq for takeout. Ordered wings for an appetizer they were good but I've seen bigger wings on a sparrow. My main course and reason for going there was a smoked fish fry. Our assigned waitress walked around to other tables, greeting them and welcoming them, talking to them openly as if they're neighbors. Compliments about their high school years, outfits, hair, etc. 15 mins later, after placing our order to a different waitress (long black hair), our assigned waitress (blonde ponytail) greeted us. No compliments or greetings except if we're ready to order. Placed our order and it came out within 15 minutes (which was nice!) Brought out by the other waitress who got our drinks though. Who also grabbed napkins and condiments without hesitation. Original waitress only offered a single refill, but continued to talk to other tables extra-friendly. In addition, I felt pressured to tip. Original waitress had a handheld POS pad for card transactions. At the "friendly" tables, she would leave it for the customer to tip and walk away, without supervision and no added pressure. For our table, original waitress held the POS pad in her hand when it was on the tip-screen. Could I have selected 0? Yes. But that felt inconsistent, and borderline manipulative. So I offered a tip, even though I didn't want to. As new customers, it would be important to make us feel included too; after all, newcomers are the ones who tell neighbors and family to come over to new places. Food had good flavor and great tenderness, but was extra peppery. 3 options for BBQ sauce at your table, but all were savory and sweet. No heat as an option. Prices could have been less, but since it's a new location, I understand if they need to upcharge. Hello I finally got to visit your establishment today, I wanted to get a rib dinner with beans and cheesey potatoes, however when I walked in, I was welcomed like I matter, the greetings and the customer service I received was excellent and the young man explained everything to me, and the young lady was excellent also. I'm saying this because of their wonderful and outstanding quality of customer service, I ended up buying a slab of ribs, brisket, cheesey potatoes and beans, and a red pop. On my way home, I pulled over and started tasting everything. I never really cared for smoked meat because some places over smoke it, but this was excellent. I'm so happy with the service and food.
