Where do I START? Let me simply say, "MORE PLEASE"! The chicken sandwich was delicious! The Mac n cheese is amazing and the brisket and pork ribs kick ass! The menu is most intriguing!! The combo of menu items offer so many yummy cultural dishes. If you like it hot they will make it happen. I have never had Mac n cheese made with queso. DO NOT LET THAT STOP YOU WOULD REGRET IT!! The candy bacon Mac n cheese is a perfect combo of flavors. The ONLY thing missing is the FRYBREAD!! It's our go GREAT with BBQ!! Order out or eat in, just be patient because they are busy!! I'm a non strict vegetarian and I hit up BBQ places because they know how to do beans, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. I got those exact items here at Mikes and I was blown away. Unfortunately I am not local but anytime I'm in the area, I will absolutely stop by!! Thanks Mike! read more

Bottom line this place is ridiculously good. I've been on the planet a long time and this is the best beef rib by far. Let me reiterate by far. If you're anywhere near this place it's worth it. Get some cheap gas order up a beef rib and be happy. Nothing like it in LA or Detroit. Nothing like it anywhere I've ever been. If I was on the TV show the best thing I've ever eaten, this would be it. read more

Trust me on this one. It's going to sound like a cliche.....you've tried the rest, now try the best BBQ in Western New York. Always perfectly seasoned. Not too smoky and not overly spiced. I'll give more than 5 stars if I can! Mike and his bbq pit team deserves recognition for their perfectly cooked, juiciest beef brisket, pork ribs, flavorful beef Dino ribs (a premium gigantic and super flavorful beef rib) and pulled pork. Yeah, pretty much everything we tried we loved. The Asian inspired fried egg roll is creative and crunchy, paired perfectly with the sweet duck sauce. We initially didn't order beef brisket because many other brisket we've tried at other bbq places were dry and uninspiring. Mike's crew bought a sampling of their brisket to us and told us he can't let us go without us trying their briskets... Guess what, after sampling it we immediately ordered half a lb on a full stomach and finished it in a flash, that's how good those briskets are! We are always on the look out for local BBQ joints and BBQ by Mike nailed it. Probably the best within a 300 mile radius. If you are visiting Syracuse/Rochester/Buffalo and Niagara Falls area on your NY road trip, forget about the stupid Buffalo Chicken Wings, chain BBQ restaurants and those fake BBQ spots on the Canadian side of the falls. You MUST stop by Mikes if you value real and perfectly cooked BBQ! It's worth the drive! They told us they are currently renovating their outdoor seating space with AC to cater to folks who want to eat on site instead of take out. Highly recommended! read more

One of the best bbq spots in wny. I recommend the pimped sausage because it's a perfect combination of everything they offer. The mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy and with a small kick of spice. searched bbq places online and found this place and glad that i did. my wife and i stopped in for lunch and the food was great. we had brisket half chicken cheese sausage corn bread mac and cheese ribs filipino egg rolls and stuffed jalapeño. we had left overs to bring home and cant wait to go back everything was just awesome. read more

I went here on impulse when we were getting gas, and boy am I glad we did. I went right for the brisket because that's really the gold standard for barbecue, if you can make a juicy tender flavorful brisket you've nailed the barbecue game - and boy it was exceptional. I could cut it with my plastic fork. I also got a side of the beans and they are so much more than beans. Peppers sausage bacon, delicious. They let me try a piece of their candied bacon as well and that was a real treat. I can't wait to get back here and try the chicken and the ribs too! read more

This is definitely one of the hidden gem close to Lewiston. I have not had bbq this good since my trip to Austin Texas. Let's start the review: 1. Corn bread: it's not on the official menu yet, but definitely ask for it if it's available. Not too sweet, the corn bread is so fluffy, you don't need your teeth to chew at all. 2. Beef ribs: my absolute favorite item on the menu. The ribs has a perfect ratio of fat and lean meat, fall of the born tender and you don't need any sauce (their bbq sauce is excellent). A must have! 3. Brisket: smoky and tender, melts in your mouth. You can eat this if you don't have any teeth! The meat was perfectly seasoned as always and you don't need sauce at all. It's a perfect balance between lean and fat brisket. Overall, best bbq that I have had in north east! I have had a lot of bbq btw. read more

This is real bbq and its super good. The candy bacon is a must, the fat melts in your mouth and I really like the bits of pepper on it. The brisket and pulled pork are super tender. The best part is that they don't smother everything in bbq sauce. The sauce is just there to accentuate the meats. Go here. You'll like it. read more

This bbq is melt in your mouth perfection. The brisket is a culinary work of art. The flavor is rich and amazing with a beautiful smokiness that is unbelievable. We weren't sure what to expect but this is the best brisket I've ever eaten and I've been eating brisket all over the country. The beans were a surprise because they had a sweet tangy sauce and had peppers, brisket, bacon and sausage in them. Incredible stuff. I could have eaten a whole meal of just the beans. The coleslaw was snappy and tart. A great counterbalance to the smoky goodness of the brisket. Incredible. You must eat here. read more

BBQ brisket is the best in WNY. On par with Texas made brisket, this coming from a Texan. Great ribs, candied bacon and sausage as well. Typically have the brisket, sausage and ribs and haven't tried the pulled pork or chicken but, would be willing to try. Sides are good as well...potato salad, Cole slaw and their tomahawk beans are worthy of sampling. This is basically a road side BBQ stand which I'd recommend for takeout. Nothing fancy but, if you like BBQ, this is the best within an hours drive. read more

I'm married to a Texas native who is a BBQ lover and experienced home cook. I've had fantastic brisket in TX and spent a lot of hours hearing about the finer details of creating the perfect brisket and the genius of Aaron Franklin. We recently visited Buffalo for the Jason Isbell concert (fantastic show!) and read the reviews of BBQ by Mike. We knew we had to try it. So glad we did. We were glad that we were warned that it's easy to miss because it's a non-descript white shed with next to a gas station. There's covered outdoor seating, which was great in August, but might not be a great choice in December. But none of that matters. Simply put, the food was exceptional. The brisket was the best we'd ever had. And you should not miss the candied bacon or loaded baked beans. They were also amazing. The mac and cheese was homemade and so tasty. The guys who made this magic happen were really friendly and seemed to genuinely care that we loved their food. As we were waiting for our order, we were chatting with one of the other folks who was waiting. He said that he drives 2 hours each way to get Mike's BBQ. We understand why. read more

This is the real thing. Mike is obviously passionate about BBQ and it shows in the final product. If only all proprietors put so much effort into their businesses and cared about how they represent themselves to their customers. Everything on the menu is outstanding. First rate. You don't need to travel south of the Mason-Dixon line anymore to get great BBQ because it's right here in little old Sanborn, NY, which used to be just a dot on the map but is now the best place to find the tastiest charred meats in WNY. Definitely worth the stop for some good BBQ. The pork ribs were meaty and the rub was delicious. The sauce was smokey and sweet. The chicken was juicy and tender. My two kids devoured it. I loved that the chicken had a different rub than the ribs. Very complex flavors. The beans were so good and well developed. And the best bonus was the candied bacon. Definitely worth the drive to Sanborn. I've been here twice in the last month with my boyfriend. We've tried the pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, smoked Italian sausage, and pork ribs. Everything was excellent. My favorite are the ribs. Their sauce is the best I've had in western NY, not too sweet with a spicy kick. All of the meat was tender and not chewy. My boyfriend is like Joey from "Friends," - he doesn't share food. His smoked sausage was so good that he offered me a bite (first time he has shared food with me after months of dating)! Both times we have gone, Mike has been there and given us samples of candied bacon (to die for) and baked beans (more like chili than traditional baked beans). Next time we plan on trying the lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) and the Dino ribs. Everything is made in house, except the potato salad. Mike really knows how to bbq. Best BBQ in Niagara and Erie county. read more

Stopped here while on a vacation to Niagara Falls with a group of 9. The owner told me his bbq was good, and as always I was aprehensive, but he was spot on! Great Texas style BBQ, nice portions, flavorful and tender meat. We had a variety of things, brisket, sausage, BBQ chicken, bacon BBQ beans... All top notch. Highly recommended. I am on vacation in Niagara Falls with my husband and we just stopped by here. The food was awesome! We especially loved the brisket, which was so juicy, and the potato salad, which was creamy and just so good. Even the bbq sauce was delicious!
