The beans were good as were the collard greens but the greens were not chopped as fine as I've usually seen. The real hit of the dinner was the chicken wings. We got them with buffalo sauce instead of their sticky teriyaki sauce. They were large, well cooked, and just great. I would definitely come back again for the wings.

I saturated it in the hot BBQ sauce. The sauce was thick, spicy but in a balanced, not overpowering way. The beans were thick, almost pasty, but good. The greens were my least favorite and I assume cooked by someone who doesn't understand the soul importance of this soul food staple, known as greens. Perhaps I'm being a bit dramatic, but they were the most al dente, undercooked "greens" I've ever experienced. Literally the crunchiest! Ordering was easy and delivery was prompt. Pricing was ok. I can imagine how wonderful the chicken is straight out of the smoker pit. Ours was dry, not fresh. Oh! The potato salad brought back memories of my early days discovering the flavors of the States. It's exactly how my mother-in-law used to make it. I loved it! You can taste all the ingredients combined in perfect proportions with a mayonnaise-cream dressing. I could eat a whole bucket of this :). Mac & Cheese could have used much less butter. I believe, for some, it is just the right amount, but too much of a good thing can be overpowering. BBQ not in the southern sense but it's a great thing... Chiavetta's is a vinegary tang (with apple cider vinegar) and some mysterious spices (pepper and garlic for sure). For those of you who can't get to one of the events as described... Chiavetta's has a take out place near Lockport...chicken and ribs with assorted sides like mac n cheese, baked beans, and a really good potato salad. Pretty unassuming place (they also do catering and will do the BBQ fundraisers for you) right off Transit Road (Route 78). There isn't really much of a reason to go to Lockport unless you are heading up to Lake Ontario, but it's not far from Buffalo/Williamsville/Amherst. Good stuff!

All of that was positive. The food was tasty, and we all enjoyed our food. The bad outweighs the good. Our food took a long time. I mean 45 minutes for four people, one being a kids meal. I just had a chicken sandwich and two others had the roast beef sandwich. I ordered fried mushrooms they didn't come out until after my meal when I reminded them that I ordered them (I was kinda hoping for them as an appetizer). My husband asked if the sandwich came with au jus, and the waitress said "no, they are weird about that here". We didn't get horseradish with the sandwiches. It was just a strange experience to get no au jus or horseradish, or the appetizer, and have to wait so long for the meal. I felt like we were inconveniencing them for eating there. The food was good enough that I will most likely try again, but I'm really hoping I'll be able to update my review with a more positive experience.
