DiBella's came highly recommended by some folks at our nearby hotel, so we stopped in to get some sandwiches. This location is clean, staffed with friendly employees, and has plenty of free parking. Inside, it looks like an old school sub shop. Black and white floors and dark booths, with an open kitchen where the bread is baked fresh. I did find it strange that on a Friday night at 6 pm the place was completely empty, which would normally be a sign of either high prices or bad food. DiBella's had neither. The menu is very easy to understand and easy to customize. You pick your bread, your meats, your toppings, any sides, and pay. I went for the smallest size sub on wheat with turkey, honey mustard, lettuce and tomato. Classic and simple. Hubby got the bigger Italian sub on white bread. I also got a side of macaroni salad, because I absolutely love East Coast noodle salads. Our food came out fast and our orders were both correct. The small sandwich was perfect for me, but it would definitely be too small for those with larger appetites. My wheat bread was clearly overcooked and a little dry, which was a major disappointment. The turkey was like a processed turkey loaf which also let me down. I also didn't have enough mustard on my sub. Hubby didn't have any comments on the meats on his sub, but he said they weren't the best he'd ever had. He raved about his bread and the oil and other toppings. The macaroni salad was my favorite thing, it was tangy and sweet and delicious. I did think the portion size of the side was far too small. I'll definitely come back to DiBella's, but I'll try the white bread as well as different meat next time (or maybe just veggie and no meat at all). I found the quality of the deli meat lacking, which was a big disappointment. However, there's enough to like about the subs and the prices are more than fair, so they deserve another shot. Dibella's Subs finally won my heart after a recent catering order. It wasn't just about the sandwiches. It was about the aesthetics of everything that actually stood out. Everything looked so nice, clean and tidy. All condiments, such as mayonnaise, mustard, banana peppers and onion, were packed separately. The Dibella's Famous Oil Dressing came in a cute little bottle. I loved it. Don't forget to shake it well ;). The massive sandwiches were cut into four pieces and served on an eighteen-inch-diameter covered tray. Ask people to come hungry because there was plenty of food. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Sorry, vegans and vegetarians, the Veggie Sub was good, but all kinds of meats is the way to go. I only wished they were more generous with cheese. My favorite god damn sub place of all time. We come in, place our orders and get our food before we even find a table. The subs are always packed and delicious. I usually get the Godfather in Everything (or "Danny's Favorite" for the Wegmans casuals). One thing that's still odd to me is that there are no gluten free breads or wraps available. One of the guests in our recent group is a no gluten person (she was a first timer) and we were all surprised that she couldn't haven't the same experience as us and had to get a salad. The only thing that was somewhat "out of the ordinary" was the lack of excitement or care in the young girls voice taking my order. Nowadays with a generation that is not very motivated to work sadly I'm almost used to this girls "welcoming" personality. So I ordered steak and cheese w/o onions and peppers and extra steak on everything roll ( I do this to make up for the lack of onions and peppers) Patiently I wait and finally get my sandwich and had my camera phone out ready to take a picture to send to my friend who also love this place and instantly frowned when I see onions and peppers! I didn't get overly upset but pretty annoyed I showed the girl that they messsd my order up and said I can see if my son wants it and she said "I hear ya" and grabbed it off the counter and threw it in the trash and walked away. I didn't say anything I just tried to stay excited for my sandwich and remember how hungry I was. 10 minutes later they called me up again to get my sandwich and I opened it right up and saw it was just steak and cheese so I didn't hesitate to eat half the sandwich in probably three bites but was life with weird taste in my mouth that just didn't taste right and the meat was noticeably "wet" tasting. So I opened the other half and inspected it a little more and could see that the steak wasn't even chopped up like a steak and cheese would be normally cooked on a grill and was in thick shreds of meat and as soon as I pulled one of them apart instantly I could see the meat was red/pink and not even cooked!!! Now I'm pissed and I brought it back in and said "do you have new people here cooking today, because this steak isn't even cooked?" The girl that took my order and the girl who cooked the sandwich were whispering clearly about me because they wouldn't even look at me Just quick glances out of the corner of their eyes I said "I know I'm the bad guy out of this cause I know I did something wrong cause I can see them talking about me" The kid that ran over to me was very attentive all Of a sudden and didn't hesitate to start pull the cash out of the drawer and hand it back to me. Didn't even apologize or offer any kind of reimbursement for the fuck ups they made twice on one sandwich so I took my money and left and told them to be careful with that you'll get your owner in trouble when somebody gets food poisoning from eating raw meat! It was a definite slap in the face and disappointed from what I still believe to be a great sandwich shop in Buffalo but is probably suffering from the same thing lots of restaurants are in this country which is lack of good help. It's still no excuse and feel like establishments will hire almost anyone nowadays just to run their businesses and there is no "standards" on who they hire. I have mixed feelings about writing this review. I hadn't been to DiBellas in while. No particular reason but when I saw an offer for $5 off any sub I thought why not. On past visits I always got cold subs. My sub of choice is typically turkey with lots of veggie toppings. Well this time i decided to try one of their hot subs and got the large cheese steak sub. I was very disappointed in the amount of meat. Don't know if that's how it's always served or if I just bad luck of the draw. Also, there was suppose to be a horsey mayo on top. If there was any horseradish in it I certainly didn't taste it. They did offer me a free small sub when they heard I was dissatisfied. The menu isn't extensive, but they are obviously good at making what they do - subs. I went there around 12:30pm on a Thursday and it was pretty busy with people on their lunch hour. The line went quickly though, as they had plenty of workers to handle the rush. I chose a grilled chicken salad and picked which veggies I wanted. All the ingredients were crisp and fresh. For the dressing I went with their housemade oil. I liked the herbs and spices that were added. The salad also came with a breadstick that was fashioned out of a sub roll. It was fresh and yummy and tasted great dipped into the oil. My dining partner got the Dagwood sub. I made her save me a bite. The corned beef had a salty, spiced flavor and paired well with the ham and turkey. For me there is a bit too much meat on the subs, but you can easily solve that by taking a few slices off. Oh and the best part of the subs are the rolls! Freshly baked and where else can you find an Everything sub roll? FYI - the multigrain and sesame are great choices as well. I've also heard that DiBella's makes the sub rolls for Wegmans. We got a kids meal too. Good deal for a kids-sized sub, applesauce pouch, juice box, and 2 mini cookies - all for $4.99 and comes in a cute box with coloring stuff. The staff were so accommodating to my request to keep everything separate - I wanted the cheese and ham separate from the roll and veggies. Yup, "mom life!" This is a good place to stop if your looking for a well-done classic sub. They don't have a fryer, so if you want chicken fingers or fries, this isn't the place. But they do have homemade cookies which are absolutely delicious - soft, chewy, and very chocolately. And you can always grab a bag of chips there - there was quite a few choices. When they say, "The Best Sub You've Ever Had," they're not kidding. This place is darn close to perfect. The bread makes the sub, and DiBella's makes the best bread. My favorite is the sesame, but no matter what type of bread you like, DiBella's makes it best. Don't even try to argue with me because you'll lose. My go-to is the turkey on sesame with light mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, banana peppers, and provolone cheese. If I'm eating alone, I get a small, and that's really almost too much sandwich for me. The only thing that would make it better, in my opinion, is if the peppers were raw. I would love to have the option of fresh, raw green peppers. Unfortunately for me, all the peppers they offer are of the cooked variety. I'd also love some avocado on my sub, but that's not an option either. Not yet, anyway. They didn't used to offer cucumbers, and they do now, so maybe those things will be offered in the future. My husband is a big fan of olives; I am not. We often get a medium and split it (it's a gigantic medium). Because I don't even want the olives to TOUCH anything on my side of the sandwich, I ask for the olives on the side. They give them to me in a small cup, which makes us both happy. No olives on my side of the sandwich, and he gets more olives than he probably would have gotten if they'd put them straight onto the sandwich. And make sure to join Club Bread! What happened to this place? I used to love dibellas. I placed my order online for curbside pickup. The steak sub I ordered was completely tasteless & there was hardly any meat on it. My sub was also missing provolone cheese & Mayo. It was just some steak & peppers on a roll. We also ordered a bag of Doritos, a bottle of water & a walnut chocolate chip cookie. I've been here three times in the last few weeks and was yearning for a better experience each time which never came. I've ordered a customized turkey and salami, chicken philly, and BLT over those three encounters. The BLT wins hands down. Thick, juicy, and plentiful servings of bacon were provided. On the other two, however, I felt the amount of meat was pretty meager. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the chicken philly, but you get the idea from the turkey and salami. They're also pretty frugal on the condiments. It wasn't until my latest BLT that I asked for double portions of lettuce, onion, tomato. I still didn't feel like my request was fulfilled. I hate that I can't see them make my subs. Its honestly one of the things I enjoy about the whole experience. Just watching it come together before my eyes and make those last second additions to suit my needs. They also don't have an option to have the bread toasted. They will grill the meat on certain sandwiches and if you request it, but the bread will always be room temperature. That's pretty significant to me as well since I always prefer a heated sub. I have Dibs on DiBellas. And if you have any Aretha and Ella Fitzgerald records, you can keep the Aretha ones, and I have Dibs on Ellas. Lowered to 4 due to repeatedly incompetent service. I don't usually like chains, but DiBella's makes generally wonderful sandwiches. Not every location is consistent and delicious, and not every sandwich they make is as awesome, but their "Godfather" is really good if you like Italian Deli meats. Their bread is great, their ingredients are fresh and hearty, and their prices are kind of low. Plus they are somewhat local, based out of Rochester. The bread: hearty and homebaked, thick, sub-style (and nothing like subway). I'm a fan. Especially the "everything" (or whatever the one is called that has a ton of stuff on it). This location is near my house so I come here regularly. Out of 5 trips, I've had 4 amazing sandwiches, and one iffy experience which made me queasy, probably because I ordered a different sandwich that I wasn't into (can't remember which). But the good ones (especially the Godfather) were so good, that DiBella's is scoring a 5 from me, and I'm now a regular here. Nom nom nom. Well, daughter moved to Buffalo and we visited her there. Once again, dinner plans fell through and somehow managed to find our way to DiBella's (didn't know they were even in Buffalo, honestly never looked w/ all the other great options in town). I'm never much of going out for sandwiches, but I'm always up for DiBella's. They don't skimp on the meat and their breads our outstanding. I ordered a medium Old Fashion (turkey, ham, genoa salami). I'm not typically a chain restaurant eater, but I like to think I'm also not a snob. DiBellas is about 5 minutes from my office so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the chicken hoagie on an everything roll with hot peppers and grilled mushrooms. I exercise every day in the AM so by lunch I'm fairly hungry, but the medium sub was more than plenty. It was hot and the ingredients were very good; fresh and flavorful. And the hot peppers had a kick to them! Really easy pickup when you order from the app and they'll bring it out to your car if you like. Their app is a bit dated, but functional. Oh man. I love DiBella's subs, they are everything a sub should be: fresh bread, ingredients and delicious sauces that all blend together for a taste bud attack of delight. Despite my love for the brand, yesterday's visit was a disappointment. At 9pm on a Saturday night, before we went off to see American Hustler at the Transit Rd. Theater's, we stopped in for a sub. The first negative was it seemed like the cashier tried to discourage us from placing our order. "We are out of almost every single bread." OK...well what do you have? She listed off a few flavors, all of which were fine and we placed an order. The employee seemed like she mentally-retired for the night and did not want to be there. Once our food was received (I ordered the Cheesesteak Sub and my fiance got the tuna salad) and we tried to find a table to sit...even though the place was empty (two customers later walked in after us), almost all the tables were dirty and not wiped down. Practically every single one. It was discouraging. We finally found a table and sat down. My sub was good. Bread was toasted and the ingredients came together fine, although from the "meh" service to the dirty tables, I can't say we had an enjoyable time.
