My kids and I love Dr. Lew and her entire staff. They are caring and go above and beyond to make every patient feel comfortable and cared for. They are fun and kind. I missed them during the pandemic! Once my brother was visiting from out of town and had a cracked tooth. was refered to a oral surgeon to have a root canal was quoted almost three thousand dollars, no insurance of course to pricey for me! As far as a dentist not to sure what to say!.. All staff seems to be nice any way needless to say went else where and had tooth removed and was told that being it was a tooth in the back it wasn't needed so had it pulled at the low cost of two hundred dollars by and oral surgeon big difference in price!.. and I could afford that! oh another note the oral surgeon they refered me to would not accept payments go figure gesh!!.. Dr. Diane Lew has been my dentist for several years. She is knowledgable, thorough, patient, gentle, and calm. If I have any dental issues, she does a good job of letting me know what my options are and the consequences of each. She is non-judgemental and listens well. Dr. Lew is excellent with kids as well. 4/6/09 Update: Just wanted to add that Dr. Lew's staff does a great job as well. Candy, one of the dental hygienists, has been cleaning my teeth for several years. She is very gentle yet thorough and nice to talk to. The administrative staff is very professional and helpful. They handle my insurance claims (including non-network claims) without problems. I also appreciate the accurate estimates they provide to help me budget in necessary dental work. read more

We love these guys! See, it goes like this... I tried another dentist in the same building and they had a laundry list of things they wanted to "fix" in my mouth and it was all so very urgent... So I went to Dr. Lew (Dr. Boyden at the time) for a second opinion and they told me what really needed to be done. Basically nothin'. I've recommended Dr. Lew to people for years and each time someone takes my advice Dr. Lew's office sends me flowers! Yeah! Pretty much everyone I know and work with is now a patient here. I love getting the flowers but that's not why I recommend this practice. The reason's I love my dentist are as follows: 1. My hygenist. I'm not sure we can name names on here, but her name starts with an A and ends in a Lisha. She is wonderful and after seeing her for 10 years or so, I consider her a friend. My kids love her as well. 2. Dr. Lew. She's sassy and gorgeous, always professional and smart. Plus, she never recommends things that I don't really need. What's not to love? 3. Toys, games, free coffee, toothbrushes, and other dental swag. It's like the Hollywood of Dentistry YO. One last thing I have to mention but they probably don't want me to flaunt... If you are single and spy another hot patient at the office, they may even set you up. Or at least get you connected. They are taking a whole-patient approach and all that. Feb 2009 Update: We no longer live in the area, and this office is totally out of our way. Takes a very long time to get there, but it is still the only dental office we go to! We found Dr. Lew's office when my son's preschool class came to Dr. Lew's office on a field trip. Lucky for us! Dr. Diane Lew is a wonderful dentist! My husband, our son and I are very happy with our experiences here. Dr. Lew is very knowledgeable and patient. She always answers any questions we have and explains what she is doing. She is wonderful with kids. The dental hygienists and the front office staff are also very nice people. They do their jobs better than I have seen in any other dental office. Truly professional and they always maintain a calm, caring and inviting atmosphere. You can feel it when coming into the office! My bills are never surprises. I am always well informed by the office staff about what my insurance is going to cover and how much I will be paying out of pocket. This is my favourite part because it is so hard to find a practice with competent people, when it comes to dealing with insurance coverages. read more

I saw Dr. Lew for 13 years, and recently left the area. I miss her. She is the only dentist I've had who I couldn't wait to visit. Her attention to detail is excellent. One of my six(!) crowns came back from the lab slightly off color, and she made the crown fabricator come over while I was in the chair to ensure that it was done properly. On another occasion, a slight swelling prompted her to call a nearby oral surgeon who dropped what he was doing and came over for a quick consult at no charge. I've been a patient of Dr. Lew's office for the last 10 years! I always tell my friends that although it's important to have a trustworthy mechanic, it's more important to have a trustworthy and ethical dentist! You can always replace a car, but not your pearly whites (without an almost prohibitive expense)! I hate needles in my mouth and the thought of dental work makes me cringe, but my experiences at Dr. Lew's office are always pleasant and pain-free. She has an angel's touch and her staff is always amazingly nice and accomodating! I recommend that you give her office a call if you've been ho-humming about seeing a dentist. Dr. Lew is a great dentist. She is very compassionate and has a great 'bed-side' manner, regularly checking in with me during a procedure etc and she is very patient. She is conservative when suggesting procedures, in that she presents what needs to be done and in the most cost effective manner. Dr. Lew is also very accommodating when it comes to scheduling and customer services, and I have posed some significant challenges which she always graciously addressed. I moved up to San Francisco 5 years ago and I still go to her office for care. The staff at the office is very friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be around. Came in on my lunch hour for my 6 month cleaning. Was seen on time, cleaning was quick and painless. In and out within 45 minutes. The staff are great, always friendly and helpful. Now to my review: I have been a patient of Dr Lew for just over two years and am fortunate to only have needed cleanings. Had to have a crown replaced and Dr Lew is awesome,does great work, is friendly and has a great sense of humor. They removed my old one and gave me the temp yesterday and it painless and she and her assistant were efficient and funny. She was very thorough in removing my old crown and redid my temp because she noticed a minor flaw. As much as I don't like dental work done, I am looking forward to my next visit. read more

Dr. Lew has been my dentist for 9 or 10 years. She is very gentle when working on a filling or crown, explains the needed procedures well, and is overall very caring, which is an added bonus! She may be a bit more proactive than other dentists, as she's recommended to do fillings when my childhood dentist (whom I see when on holidays) did not think I needed them. I've moved farther away from her office and she's not in my insurance network... I may still stay with her though... a good dentist is a rare find! BTW, her staff also earns high marks. My daughter, son, and myself have been going to Dr Lew for 10 years. She and her staff is wonderful. They are always professional and do a great job. My kids really like her. Recently I had a chipped tooth in the front. It looks really ugly, and I was about to go on a long trip and really wanted it fixed. I called and Dr Lew squeezed me the same day so I can have the tooth repaired and look my best on the trip. It was done beautifully and quickly. I was out of there in 40 minutes. read more

This dentist has the worst attitude I have ever seen, seems irritated all the time. Doesnt bother volunteering information to patients and doesnt like being asked questions. Spends minimal time with patients and is not competent. They took measurements multiple times and still couldnt do things right. Go to Dr. Boyden instead, she shares her practice with him, he is the complete opposite read more

Who doesn't hate dentists? I used to have a fear of dental visits until my experience with Dr. Lew and her staff since 1+ year ago. Prior to that, I'd use to have more fear for regular cleaning than root planing (that's how bad it was), solely because they numb you for the latter hence zero pain. My previous dentists would only instruct you to "brush better" and that's it, then at my next visit they'd criticize on how bad my gums still were and that I needed to "take better care of them" without explaining much. Here at Dr. Lew's, the hygienists are also especially nice and give a lot of TLC to their patients. They're certainly concerned and considerate of whether you feel comfortable of each tool they use. Alicia in particular, would even write notes on my chart trying to remember my preferences, so she'd remember the next time. I appreciate that so much! Six months easily flash by but I no longer fear of dental visits anymore. :) read more

We moved to Sunnyvale several years ago from a neighboring city up the peninsula. I never changed dentists and kept commuting up the peninsula to visit my former dentist for several years after moving to the south bay. A friend from my daughter's soccer team highly recommended Dr. Lew. I figure I would give it a go and made an appointment with Dr. Lew for a teeth cleaning and check-up. Dr. Lew and her staff made me feel very comfortable and I felt as though I've known her and her team for many years. The hygienist, Alicia, was very thorough with my teeth cleaning and pointed out areas I should keep an eye on. I could tell she was quite passionate about her job. She was very conversational, in a good way, which eased my nervousness during my visit. Dr. Lew is an equally passionate and caring doctor who took the time learn more about me and examine my teeth. Overall, Dr. Lew and her team won me over. Fast forward two years, I actually look forward to my dental visits with Dr. Lew and her team. I've never felt more comfortable in a dentist chair although it took some convincing to get me there. I've never been a big fan of going to the dentist, when I was a kid I tried to bite my old dentist, but I had no urge to bite Dr. Lew or her staff members! I've been going here for over 15 years and wouldn't go anywhere else! When I was a kid this place made me feel comfortable and I actually looked forward to going to the dentist! There are even great views from most of the rooms and most recently I watched hummingbirds fly just feet in front of me during my last check-up.
