While traveling through Ohio we decided to go out of our way to try this place because of the yelp reviews and we were not disappointed! Firstly the service was great, they were very kind and answered all of our questions. They had a lot of seating including a table and chairs outside, so we could sit with our puppy! The sandwiches were made on site but delivered quick. I would recommend the "Mom come get me I'm sick" or the "Where's Jason." Overall a great place and worth a or multiple stops! read more

So the "jumbo" pastrami had maybe 4oz of meat. Looked like they were heating their meats in microwave. Mustard was standard yellow. Overall underwhelmed suspect good ratings because a deli in AKRON doesn't need to be too great to get good ratings? read more

I've been going to Diamond Deli for years. Great food but it gets really busy. Today is Saturday June 13th 2020. I really was craving some sandwiches so I thought I would call and place an order at 11:45AM. They are normally busy, it's lunchtime, and they have only been open for about a week since the Corona pandemic. They guy asked me to hold. I was on hold until 12 noon when I hung up and tried redialing their number. I got an automated voice saying the "mailbox is full - cannot leave a message" and I figured they may not be prepared for business yet. It's a shame I was forgotten and cannot order some food. This is my favorite place to go to lunch/dinner. Excellent fresh ingredients are always used for a very lengthy list of sandwiches. It is an original menu with sandwiches named for various people from sports, politics, the arts, the city and the members of the family that own/operate the facility. Most, if not all of the staff make it a point to know repeat customers by name and some significant fact about them. If you are looking for an authentic Jewish deli, this is not the right place for you. In fact, it is not a deli. It is just a small restaurant where you can get a variety of deli inspired foods. Though, it does have brisket, corned beef, and pastrami sandwiches with matzo ball soup it is not equivalent to the deli corky and Lenny's. From a Jewish persons perspective who has been eating this food their whole life, I would say the matzo ball soup is nothing special, it needs a lot more flavor. The corned beef and pastrami were pretty good. I have yet to try their brisket sandwich. The pickles are good but they are no half sour deli pickles. But this is the closest your can get to a deli in Akron. It's good if you don't have high standards for a deli. The atmosphere is pretty neat if you are dining in. I have longed to have an NYC style deli in my area, now I know I found the right place with the corned beef sanwhich is the BEST!

This place to me is what Central Perk is to Friends. I used to live directly above the Deli and would come in daily to hang out with my boys behind the counter. The family that owns the Deli are the nicest people you will ever have the pleasure to meet, and everyone that works there work super hard to deliver amazing service and tasty food, which they do!!! Their seafood salad, and potato salad are a definate win. Their ever changing soups are always delicious, but their signature motziball soup is amazing!!! The 'Old bald guy' is my current favorite, ciabatta with turkey, apple, red onion and sun dried tomato mayonaise. It literally melts in your mouth!!! Don't be scared to ask for something not on the menu, they have made me more BLT's and turkey croissants than I'd like to admit!!! Also, try their selection of sweets. There are always cookies, brownies and cheesecake that are delish!!! Go in mid-afternoon to avoid the crazy lunch rush, and say hi to Chad, Tommy and Steve!!!! read more

Voted Akron's Best Deli in 2004 & 2007. Large, overstuffed sandwiches made to order as you watch. Excellent Reuben Sandwich that is very messy and very tasty. I have not had a bad sandwich here. I like this place for what it is- a grubby little unpretentious lunch joint. The guys working there were really nice, and their menu is surprisingly extensive, although it seems their specialty is corned beef & matzo. I opted for one of each- the corned beef was nothing spectacular, certainly no slyman's but I like that they offer three sizes for their sandwiches so you're not stuck with 5 pounds of meat you can't finish. The matzo ball took me right back to my childhood. Plenty of seating inside, the music playing was good, and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick lunch! read more

This is one of the best deli shops around. Competing with 5 Subways in the area, a Jimmy John's across the street, and who knows what else, this place still has a line that winds within the building. As previously mentioned, it is worth the wait, any time of the year. Their sandwiches are cleverly named and they make homemade soup every day. (Matzo ball is really good) Try the Reuben, or the 'Where's Jason', both of which are my favorites. Expect to leave feeling 5 pounds heavier. read more

This place was amazing. This was my first time here and I have to say that I am impressed. Sandwiches are not as big as some of commented on them to be. But it is well worth the prices. The names of the sandwiches were very amusing. The menu is also very vast. I spent almost 5 minute looking over and asking questions before I finally ordered. Prices are also pretty good. The interior of the building isn't that good. But after the first bite you forget all about it. This is a great deli and I would recommend this to anyone in search of a deli sandwich. I have passed by this place too many times when I've been in Akron. We no more! I had the "Chad" and it was awesome. The sandwich was loaded with corned beef, pastrami, Swiss cheese, and the rye bread was toasted perfectly. For a side I had the broccoli salad and it was loaded with goodness, but I did pick out the raisins. Service was fast and friendly. I will be back for more! read more

Akron has a couple of very good delicatessens. Diamond deli aspires to these standards but falls a bit short, which is a real shame because the guys running the place are pretty sharp and they could really do a great job. The meat, cheese, bread, and salads are generally almost always just OK. The corned beef is on the better side. Soup varies in quality, but the matzo balls soup is usually very good. Generally the prices are on the higher side, so value is only mediocre. Service is usually good, but the place really gets "line out the door" packed at lunch so that can bog things down. read more

We live a few towns away and don't get down to Akron much, but when we found ourselves there for lunch, we decided to check out Diamond Deli based on the Yelp reviews. I'm glad we did! It looks a bit like a hole in the wall from the outside, but the dudes behind the counter were super friendly and welcoming. They gave my wife a hearty "sample" of cheeseburger soup when she asked about it, and the wraps we bought were great; especially for the price. I would definitely return! read more
