There are also a lot of discount options. I tried sakura ice cream available in honor of Sakura festival. It was very subtle and just okay. To be very honest, I did not feel the best about the cleanliness of this shop. It looked outdated and in need of a deep clean. The staff were welcoming. The shop has a few tables. No outdoor seating available. You could take your ice cream for a walk downtown or to Lock 3 park. Street parking is available. Lock 3 park across the street has a big multi story garage. read more

Wow! Great selections and creamy, delicious ice cream. I thought the best one was the Cherry Blossom, which may have been created specifically for the Cherry Blossom/Sakura festival happening downtown Akron that very day. My son really liked it. Spending the day in downtown Akron, my son and I decided to stop by Chill Ice Cream for a frozen treat. Initially my son refused to enter the establishment, because he said the looong stairs descending into the basement and blood-splatter looking splashes of paint on the wall made it look like the lair of a serial killer (I guess that is what I get for letting him watch Stephen King's "It" the night before). Once I finally coaxed him inside, we were both pleasantly surprised to find the interior of the shop to be bright and airy, especially with the large windows facing out on the rear alley. After waiting for the party ahead of us to finish, we asked the server a couple of questions about their very unique flavours of ice cream, but received perfunctory answers at best. Ultimately I selected the Sea Salt Caramel Truffle, while my son got the Sour Cherry Rosewater. Our bill totaled $6, which felt pretty typical. Selecting the least sticky of the available tables, we proceeded to dig in to our ice cream with gusto! Personally I found the Sea Salt Caramel Truffle to be very good, with the rich taste of the caramel nicely balanced by the sea salt. However my son was somewhat less enthusiastic about his ice cream, saying that he felt it was too sweet and not as sour as he expected given the name. While we really liked the wide selection of unique flavours, good tasting ice cream, and general ambiance of the dining room, the serial-killer-lair look of the front entrance stairs, seemingly ambivalent staff, and sticky tables detracted from our experience at the shop. Overall we rate Chill Ice Cream as being Good, and would return the next time we are in the area. read more

I got the dainty gentleman sundae and it was delightful!! Lavender ice cream with honey swirl, topped with olive oil :o and hot fudge!! Mind blowing. The atmosphere here is really cute- filled with colorful flowers, local art, there's even a board where you can request flavors!! There is a wide variety of flavors to choose from and as soon as they sell out of a flavor, they switch to a new one! Some of the ingredients in the ice cream are also locally sourced. One of my go-to places for ice cream! I love Chill! They have a lot of different flavors. Even though it's an artisan ice cream place they have standard ice cream flavors too if you're not too adventurous. If you want a recommendation to start I highly recommend their lavender ice cream! You can sample as much as you want before choosing your ice cream. Also come with an appetite because their servings are very generous. The staff is really friendly and the place is decorated wonderfully with local artwork. It just has really great vibes all around. The only downside is parking is limited. After a pretty healthy dinner at the Mustard Seed, the family decided it needed something sweet to end the evening. I haven't known Akron to have many ice cream places, so I checked out YELP to see what we could turn up. Enter Chill.... my son and I enjoyed the walk down the hallway with the paint splatters. Once we got to the space, we focused on the ice cream. As everyone else has commented, there are a ton of unique flavors. We ended up with three... the smore's flavor, the Samoas (like the girl scout cookie) and the double chocolate flavor. One downside is that there are no sugar cones, only cake cones or waffle cones. We were helped by a very friendly server who razzed my son for wearing a Steeler's hoodie :). The ice cream... well to me it was just OK. I would not say it is quite as amazing as Jeni's or Mitchell's. It was good! It didn't blow my mind. Having said that, I would definitely come back and try some more flavors. This is a cute ice cream shop in the middle of a fun restaurant and music cluster in Akron. The atmosphere is friendly, with strong A/C (a huge plus on that hot summer day), and you can sample all kinds of flavors. We ended up getting a 2 scoop of the the eggnog and the grapefruit. Not quite a flavor combo that pairs well, but ok nonetheless. Although we enjoyed our ice cream experience, we both felt that the flavors of all that we tried weren't that strong. The flavors weren't strongly defined, and there was something somewhat lacking in terms of the richness or creaminess of the ice cream. We stopped here on a 90+ degree day & it was well worth the drive! It's tucked away in an alley, so can be easy to miss, but worth the mapping (in between Blu & a parking lot, next to Musica). The staff was super helpful & friendly on our first visit & took time to explain things to us. They encouraged us to sample as much as we liked. I ended up getting a strawberry champagne (or maybe frosé?) & the butter pecan (although not your typical). Not the most cohesive pair to share a cup, but they were my top two & couldn't decide! Probably my favorite ice cream. Definitely my favorite in Akron. We tried almost everything they had available and it was all fantastic, even things I don't normally like (like mangoes) were flavorful and creamy. The (one) girl working here on Saturday night was so friendly and helpful. Much more friendly than the girls working in Medina, where we went on Sunday because this location is closed Sundays. Bonus points: you can clearly hear whatever is happening at Musica next door - so you can get ice cream and a concert all in one trip. read more

Def a good find, if you can find it! I gave it 4 stars bc parking was an issue. Just having moved here, I didn't know how or what the parking situation was until I got there. Apparently you have to park in the parking garage on main (?), which will then lead you to the shop. Had I known that, I would be giving them 5 stars. The ice cream flavors are def worth 5 stars. They have 7 flavors that are there year round and rotate through various flavours. Def have a plethora of flavors to choose from and the staff was very nice and helpful. A new hidden gem in Akron! We stumbled upon Chill after seeing it under Yelp's "hot new businesses", and it was a pleasant surprise. There were probably close to 30 flavors offered, and signs posted on the tables hinted that flavors are always changing. The employees are friendly and willing to give you as many samples as you'd like. I ended up going with a scoop of strawberry balsamic and a scoop of blackout (dark chocolate). My boyfriend had the chocolate milk and cookies flavor. All of the flavors we tried were delicious, fresh, and a perfect blend of creative flavors. There are plenty of options for both the adventurous and ice cream traditionalists. This is the artisan ice cream place that has been much needed in Akron for a long time- can't wait to go back! Let me just say, that after going to Chill this evening I will no longer have to travel 2 hours to satisfy the artisan ice cream craving.
