    Flavors of hard ice cream

Super delicious hard serve ice cream! Lots of parking spaces here too! There were many people in line, and because of having lots of employees, they were able to keep the line moving quickly. Everyone received their ice cream orders in a timely manner. Like the variety of flavors. Tried the peanut butter crunch. Yum! Durban's also sells custard, which I will try the next time I am here.

We love Durbin Magic Freeze; this little place has been serving custard ice cream cones to the surrounding areas since 1953, and they have ice cream down--especially custard ice cream. No one makes it smoother, creamier, or tastier than Durbin. I've been driving over there for my yearly custards for decades, whether in or out of town! Yep, the drive and trip are worth every moment of your time. They serve the whole gambit of choices, but I always preferred their chocolate custard. Recommend

I'm not originally from the area. When we moved to the area, if you were meeting anyone for the first time all directions and points of interest were given based on their proximity to Durbin's. "Grocery store? That 3 blocks west of Durbin's." "My house? About 4 blocks north of Durbin's." "Bank? You have to start at Durbin's and head south." After going there, I understood. There is just something magic about this place. Nostalgic, friendly, polite employees, and rockin' ice cream and ice cream concoctions. My personal favorite is the Turtle Sundae. Three layers of hot fudge, butterscotch/caramel and pecans divided by their vanilla custard and topped whipped cream and a cherry. Served in a very large cup. Maybe 16 or 20 ounces, or 55 gallons...I can't tell. It's huge. And for $4.50... Holy moly that thing would be $8 or more anywhere else. This place has a really strange occurrence that happens. So in the off season, they will still open occasionally. If the weather gets above a certain temperature, it's on. Now here's the thing. I do not believe there is any notice or advertisement of this opening. Somehow the locals just sense it. Like there is just some primal instinct that makes them head to Durbin's. Similar to the migration of birds heading north in spring. I just picture everyone sitting in their house on a semi-warm day, when all of a sudden, the lead Barbertonite stands up and begins walking toward Durbin's with $5 cash in their hand. (Pretty much nothing is more than $5 and they only take cash). Before you know it, there is a swarm of locals filling the parking lot calling out there favorite ice cream. This really should be documented by National Geographic at some point. Never the less, it's a delicious treat.

Made the 30+ minute drive today to try the homemade hot fudge... it was good, but nothing crazy. The staff was incredibly welcoming, patient, and friendly!! Where Durbin misses the beat is in its flavors: The vanilla didn't have a strong vanilla flavor, more like plain milk. I got pina colada custard and it was PINK. A pink pina colada?? I 100% thought it was strawberry when I got it, and told the staff I was supposed to get pina colada and they responded "that is pina colada". Awkward! Absolutely NO pineapple flavor. My mom said she tasted coconut, but I wasn't even sold on that. Thank goodness they have VERY CHEAP PRICES so I didn't feel that bad throwing my cone away. Maybe I should have sampled first, but wow not at all what I wanted or was expecting. Maybe watch how you label your flavors? @ Durbin Again, I was wonderfully impressed with the low prices! Muuuuuch better than the $5 a cone places in other towns. Overall, I would like to give them another try if I'm ever in the area, but I would not drive 35 minutes again. That being said - if you're reading this, please give this small local business your support! Post reviews & comments for fellow readers and to redeem their reputation in my mind / eyes :))) Support local!

Every dish we tried was delicious, and the fact that they also offer ice cream was such a fun bonus. Paleteria La Fresa also has a rotating stock of homemade popsicles in familiar and unique flavors, from strawberry to avocado to Mexican custard! My Yelp friend who joined me for dinner and dessert there a few days ago has tried at least a dozen flavors - her favorite is avocado. This was my first visit to this restaurant and spent some time looking at the pantry stuff for sale (didn't get anything) and debating which flavor of popsicle to get for my first visit here, before ordering two Mexican street tacos and one carne asada sopes for dinner. My meal also came with unlimited chips and salsa which we immediately demolished! Ultimately, I chose to get the Mexican cake popsicle flavor which was so smooth and creamy and milky and then crunchy with Mexican chocolate slabs inside! It was very refreshing, unique, and not very expensive at 3 bucks. My tacos were saved for later (and tasted delicious a couple hours later at home) but I ate the sopes at the restaurant. It was generously piled with carne asada and the corn pancake was 1000/10! I will absolutely order sopes again! For $16.50, I had a lot of food, a nice treat, and great company. I plan to come again!
