Worst customer service experience we have ever had. Our party of five came in the door, only to be completely ignored by everyone working there. When I asked if we seat ourselves, I was told there might be a spot in the other room, again with no one greeting or helping us. When we finally did get seated, we were brought the wrong drinks twice, pizza took over an hour & a half, and honestly it just isn't even that good. For their sake, I hope they can get some new staff members with a little more enthusiasm and plan old manners. read more

We picked up pizza and the sign says cash or check only. Really? In this day and age. So they have an ATM. They own it and charge $3.50 to use it. What a scam. In total, over $86 for four pizzas and two alleged garlic breads (hot dog buns with melted butter soaking it and a hint of garlic salt.) I only give it two stars as pizza had an ok taste, but was cold when we picked it up. There are many other pizza joints closer to St. Joe's and Benton Harbor to eat at. read more

First time we went there after they reopened. They did a great job decorating. Nice, clean restaurant with good service. We ordered the 14" thin crust sausage, mushroom, green pepper and onion pizza and it was excellent. Had a lot of toppings and cheese. Sauce tastes great, as does the crust. Our first visit, we ordered a pizza 1/2 sausage, 1/2 pepperoni, it was very good with a nice thin crust. The reason for four stars and not 5, pizza was a tad greasy from the Pepperoni and just too much cheese for me ( next time we will ask them to go easy on the cheese). Also ordered a salad which was just lettuce, carrots and a tomato slice. No reason to reorder a salad next visit. We will return as we want to try their pasta and meatballs, which passed by our table being delivered to another and it looked delicious, also want to try the lasagna. Service was good. read more

So disappointed. Ordered a large veggie pizza to go. On the positive side, the pizza was HOT and ready upon arrival. Their remodel looks great. Now, for the disappointment. The pizza looked great. We were so looking forward to it. 4 out of 4 people eating this pizza agreed it was the worst pizza ever. Just NO flavor. How can you possibly get zero flavor out of onions, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, sauce, and crust? Zip, zero, nothing. The crust was a bit burnt and crispy and tasted like cardboard. The mushrooms, tomatoes, and peppers tasted boiled or canned. Hardly any sauce and it was tasteless as well. You could not pick up the crust as the center was not as done as the edges and it was floppy. All toppings fell off every piece, had to eat with a fork. When the toppings fell off, all you see is a "slimy" looking crust.... no wonder they fell off. We called to let them know that they have changed everything for the worst and they just said sorry. I wanted to ask them if their display pizza was missing, because I think we ate it. :( read more

After having a fit because she thought she wasn't going to get her tip when we bought another table their dinner, she proceeded to tell the people we picked up the check (with a tip) so she would get another tip and then argued with us when we asked why she told them. The pizza tasted above average, but the service was terrible! My husband ordered the pizza by phone after getting a local recommendation for this shop. After 30 or so minutes, he went to pick up the pizza. Not realizing that this was a CASH ONLY restaurant, he was told that his pizza was ready but that they wouldn't take debit or credit. He asked if there was an ATM there, but it was broken and so he told them he would be back after getting cash from a different ATM. The cashier was rude about his not knowing this was a cash only place, but he wasn't upset and said he would be back soon. After driving to an ATM and back again, my husband returned for his pizza... only to be told that they didn't have it. While before they said that they had a pizza with his name on it, they now claimed this was not the case. They said that the pizza they thought was his was not his, and that they never got his order. My husband had to reorder the pizza. Through this whole process, there were no apologies or attempts to smooth things over. Accidents and miscommunications happen, but not even apologizing is inexcusable: especially for a local small business. Even though this pizza was above average, it was not worth the 2 hours of hassle and mistreatment. I would not eat here again. read more

We stopped here on our way home from picking up our kids from stay away camp in Twin Lake. Their menu is small. We ordered a pizza and a sub sandwich. Neither were very impressive honestly. I wanted to order a bowl of soup, but they told me it was just Cambels soup in a can, not homemade soup. I passed. The bathrooms were very clean. Got some penne pasta with a limp tomato sauce with no flavor or freshness.Well, what do u expect to get when you pay 6$.the salad did not have any crunch or freshness or anything appetizing. Stopped with the kids because my husband loved this pizza growing up...he said the place hasn't changed and I'm sure he's right...its old school at it's casual best! This place is older than dirt and has barely changed since it was open. It's complete lack of character somehow give it character. I've been coming here for over 25 years and I'll keep coming back, always hoping that it hasn't changed. have eaten here a dozen times , but last weekend we made a special trip for a pizza and for some reason it was not the same. the sauce was not sweet like before and the sasauge just did not have that flavor. the Cheese did not taste fresh as well . seems like thier cutting back on their ingrediants .bring cash or your check book they do not take credit cards.Also they do not have but two beers on tap. I've eaten here on numerous occasions on my visits to the cottage (not my cottage). Excellent thin crust pizza! Burgers are good too...try this: Share the burgers as an appetizer (split in quarters) and get the pizza as the meal! They don't have bartenders (the servers make the drinks), so it could be a tad slow if you're dining in. Atmosphere is very dive. Just old tables, chairs, and a jukebox. read more

This review is being written after the re-opening. Let me start by saying I am a die hard pizza fan from Chicago. Yes, I love Chicago style pizza, but when it comes to the best pizza...you go to NYC, period, end of story. DiMaggios is certainly neither of these as their pizza is not a pie like Chicago style and it's not thin like NYC. This is a crust just a tad thicker than NYC and a bite crunchier on the edges. While I don't think they have perfected the pizza since re-opening, it is still such a great pizza that I have to highly recommend. My family has been coming here for 15 years and they love the pizza. It is really good - probably the best in the area. I am now staying in the area for a bit and have a lake house around the corner and have now been here 3x in the last couple days. Im absolutely hooked on their grilled cheese - which is only $1.85. I order it with grilled onions and a side of their pizza sauce and they even give you pickle slices. It's total comfort food that reminds me of going to diners of my childhood. Located in a rather remote area this place is always popping! A delicious mom & pop pizza shop that has many great toppings and perfect for a lake night that doesn't require a grill! The family got a plethora of pizzas. My favorite was the ham with pineapple! I was rather disappointed with the cheesy garlic bread. This place always has a special place in my heart; Di Maggio's pizza is something I grew up on. It's always fun to order from there. One of my favorite memories of this place is after a two-a-day football practice years ago, two of my buddies and I went there for dinner and ordered three large pizzas and a large order of bread sticks and demolished all of it in under 10 minutes as we watched Die Hard 2 on tv. It is a great place to get pizza. However, one of the biggest problems this place has is inconsistent quality of the pizza. It's like eating food that is bipolar. When the pizza is good it is absolutely fantastic, but when it is bad it is terrible. I've had pizzas where the crust is still soft and doughy. Other times I've had pizzas that have been almost completely black. I almost gave Di Maggio's Pizza three stars. Luckily, though, the pizza the past two years has been consistently good and has kept me and my friends quite happy. Order a large sausage, mushroom, onion, and garlic pizza with extra cheese. It's businesses like these that make my 5 star reviews valid. I had thin crust pizza and I tried my wife's salad and my daughter's spaghetti. I also had an iced tea. I'm fairly certain the iced tea was instant. I don't consider myself a tea snob but I had to put sweetener in it just to drink it. I'm fairly certain the spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce were the same. I grew up eating Monica's or old orchard thin crust from champaign county, so I am a little spoiled with good pizza but I like the sauce on a tombstone better than this place. Supposedly, the mozzarella was really good. I'm not sure what was good about it. It must be really expensive to boat over cheese from Wisconsin because it's obvious they didn't do it. Now for the reason I give them 3 stars, the salad was really good. It's a simple salad but it was fresh lettuce, carrots and onions. Also, living in Chicago, I don't think the price was that bad. Traveling with a pack of hungry Indian Vegetarians in America doesn't leave a lot of choices open. However this remote Italian American diner as we saw it was super neat and felt very cozy. Seemed like a popular place. Prices looked decent too. Considering the majority veggie crowd that I was in it was a complete no brainer picking the large veggie pizzas. The cheese on the pizza was really nice, seemed super and fresh and generous. You know its generous when you pull apart and you need a fork or knife to stop it from stretching across the table. On the flip side the veggies were pretty soggy. Not sure if this was cause they were just under the blanket of cheese. Seemed like the sauce was pretty under seasoned too. This was a Saturday afternoon on a long weekend. Though the crowd was picking up, there was only one lady managing the whole place. She was super quick and got our orders and drinks perfectly. Di Maggio's has been around forever, but sadly has dropped off just a bit in quality over the last decade or so. They're always overwhelmed on busy summer nights, which results in the service suffering, and they have for whatever reason decided to fight the power when it comes to people wanting to use credit or debit cards, which for a pretty popular pizza place is a little annoying. There's a very good argument that it remains the best pizza in Coloma, but there's also not major competition there. The sauce has been the biggest downturn in recent years, as it doesn't have the sweetness and big-time flavor it did int he past. But it's still pretty good for the location, and definitely unique for the area -- that uniqueness means there are times when what you really crave is not just pizza, but Di Maggio's pizza. Biggest cons: It is overpriced, the staff can be obnoxious at random, and it's sincerely advisable to get take-out instead of dining in, since the atmosphere stinks and always has. read more

Great pizza and excellent service. We came here on a road trip to Indianapolis. I have driven by several times on the way to St. Joseph, but I never stopped in. The interior is pleasantly dated, but clean. There is a bar to sit at, but we chose a booth in the bar area. The server was prompt and kept our glasses full. We had soda, but I could see the bartender making margaritas in a small blender at the bar. We'll have to try one next time. I ordered the anchovi plate to start. It looked and tasted great. When the pizza arrived it was well made with plenty of toppings. They offer paper plates, which is perfect for the atmosphere. read more
