Stopped on Saturday night late. Waitress was pleasant and pizza was very good. Thin crust & plenty of toppings.

DiMaggio's was our "go to" pizza place back in 1976/1977 when we live just a short distance up Blue Star Highway. Since we were in the area last fall we thought it would be interesting to see if it was the same flavorful pizza we had enjoyed many years earlier. DiMaggio's did not disappoint. Not only was the pizza as we remembered, but our youngest granddaughter had the kid's spaghetti with meatball, and absolutely loved it along with a slice of our pie. This weekend we were once again in the area and the granddaughter asked to "go to the place that had the spaghetti and meatball" for dinner. Without hesitation we traveled the short 10 miles north to what has, once again, become our "go to " pizza place when in the area. Another great meal at DiMaggio's. Thank you for bringing back great memories of your pizza, and creating fond memories for our granddaughter. Keep up the great food and service. read more

we waited over an hour for a lousy cheese pizza. We asked and were told that's the way it goes. We won't be back.

Place is busy. Waited over an hour for a thin pizza. The pizza had zero flavor. It really tasted like nothing. There was no flavor in the crust, sauce, sausage or cheese. The most bizarre thing really. The staff was nice. Worked their tails off and about 100 pizzas were picked up or served while we were there. I wanted to love it. But...flavorless. We did hear that "Josie's in Texas and Marge is in California" so perhaps that makes all the difference and the secrets to the recipes are out west with them. read more

I would give this place zero stars, but unfortunately I can not. This makes me very upset. They do not let you know over the phone that it is cash or check only. So they charge you $2 to use the atm. Horrible customer service. Customers will harass you if you wear a mask and are not caucasian. Their only mystery in their pizza bag is that it makes their pizza instantly cold. They do not know how to cut a pizza. They wrapped their cheese bread in aluminum foil and all the cheese came off. Pizza isn't very good. Cheese bread isn't good. Save your money and go to Little Ceasars or go to your nearest grocery store and get a Digiorno pizza. Buuuut if you like cold cardboard pizza, this is your place. So disappointed. This is not completely fair to give a rating based on not eating the pizza. I grew up with this pizza and was on my way through town, actually, I made a detour. Their website, yelp and Siri said they were open on Mondays, but they're not. They probably won't see this review, but I hope someone lets them know it's important to keep the modern world updated of hours. read more

I wish I could put no stars for this place, right when you walked in we were greeted by the most outrageous behavior. she told us she couldn't serve us when there was plenty of space for us to sit at 2 tables, yet she denied. we came to honor our grandmother and mother who passed away, because this was her favorite place to go when she was a child(we are on a girls trip). But the snarky tone and rude manor was unacceptable. We will for sure never step foot near that place again, and we have a bitter taste of this small restaurant in our mouths. read more

I had a large pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. The pizza was great. My SIL had the ravioli with meatballs and really enjoyed it. They only take cash and checks. There is an ATM by the bar. The pizza is served with paper plates with raised an eyebrow but worked fine. The drinks were nice and strong. The server was nice and responsive to our needs. DiMaggio's: just a little hole-in-the-wall place with zero atmosphere off in the middle of nowhere (the Coloma, MI outskirts). But it has my vote for Best Pizza Ever. The thick crust pizza has a crust that's a work of art - it would be a delicious meal even if you stripped away the pizza! But combining a delicious fresh pizza with this crust is a memorable combination. It's worth coming back here on vacation just to visit DiMaggio's! read more

We ordered a carry out pizza. We live 15-20 minutes away. My husband got there and saw a sign on the door: Cash or check only. He had to drive all the way home and all the way back and home again. I'm 54 years old. Waaaayyyy back when I was about 3 or 4 we lived in Lake Michigan Beach (the town doesn't officially exist anymore), just a stones throw from Di Maggio's. I can barely remember mom and dad taking me there for pizza in the mid-1960's. This place has been making pizza for 60 YEARS!!! I haven't been in here since about 1995. Today I was passing by and stopped in for a pie! Nothing much changes at Di Maggio's, that's part of it's charm. It's a hidden gem, off the beaten path, nestled in the sandy dunes and woods of Michigan. The fact that this place has survived since 1957 in this out-of-the-way location means they're doing something right! I ordered a small "special" (sausage, green pepper, onion and mushrooms) and added pepperoni. They had WSBT news on one of the T.V.s (yay, not everybody is a spawts moron!), which was nice since we had a big thunderstorm rolling in from Chicago. The waitresses seemed a little jaded and indifferent. I can UNDERSTAND this if they have been working here a long time- but, I don't LIKE it. I got my pizza and it looked good. I took a couple photos and grabbed the first slice. This is not your ordinary, cookie cutter, McFormula-chain-store-pizza! This is something a little special! At first I thought it might be a little light on the sauce, but it turned out to be fine. I rarely LIKE pizza sausage, but this stuff is pretty good! The pizza has a certain-something flavor that I can't quite nail down (yes, I know the scene from Mystic Pizza) and it really makes this a good pie! The chunks of sausage are almost too big (though cooked all the way through), the veggies were right on the money. The pizza was chewy, cheesy and saucy with that something flavor hitting all the right notes. I need to stop in here more often. Di Maggio's makes a good pizza, but you will pay for it. For my small pizza and a Coke it was over $20.00 without tip. But I would rather pay $20 for a GOOD pizza than $12-$15 for a BAD pie! No plastic- cash or check only. read more

This place is so perfectly old school that it warms my heart thinking about going here! We make it at least a couple times a year (less now that we don't drive up to east lansing from Chicago a few times a year). The service isn't great which is one of the attractions of the place. The bathrooms are what I expect at this type of "dive" (I call it a dive in the kindest way ever!!) The salad with garlic dressing is one of the nest salads on earth. Garlic bread is like grandmas. Pizzza......don't need to say anything more then...it's the best. And finally, the fact they only take cash ...what more charm could it have. There are still restaurants in a big city like CHICAGO that only take cash. Quite honestly , the people that complain about not taking a credit card or about the hand dryers in the bathroom or the service are not the type of people that should be going here!!! grew up eating Dimaggios - lived in the area my entire life but no pizza is worth the absolute rudeness that you receive if you come in before 5:00 - I have witness her mistreat customer after customer. From a lady in a wheelchair that she made absolute no attempt to let her family push her out of the way of the door and reprimanded and embarrassed the entire family by yelling at them from behind the bar. This afternoon as soon as we pulled in and I seen her working I knew having a nice dinner was going to be an issue. We ended up walking out - unfortunately for the very last time. There is no reason to bully your customers in the way that she is allowed to do. Not sure if she is related which is why she's allowed to behave that way but more and more people say "well we love the pizza but it's hard to go somewhere you know the staff is rude" that is definitely not the Dimaggios I use to brag about. read more

We have been going here for about 20 years now and claim it's the best pizza in Southwest Michigan. The wait time for a carrot pizza is usually long but worth it. Always like looking at the bounced checks on pizza boards while we wait to pickup. A family staple for sure! read more

More problems than solutions. Two of us on Sunday afternoon--didn't want pizza so we ordered spaghetti with sausage and spaghetti with meatballs and two beers. The beer was cold and, although they came out very quickly, so were the spaghetti dishes! We told the server and she had them microwaved and returned one at a time. This time they were hot and quite good, actually. But there was only a small loaf of untoasted Italian bread as the sole side. Of course, the question must be asked--why does the kitchen staff think it was remotely OK to serve the meals way under temp? The bathrooms were almost OK, but the women's had no soap and both had archaic and crappy hand dryers; no towels. When the bill arrived, I tried to hand the server my favorite card and she told me, "we only take cash or checks, but we have an ATM for your convenience." MY CONVENIENCE?!?! It's freaking 2018, my convenience dictates that you accept plastic like every other restaurant in the free world. So let's summarize: cold food, wet hands, having to use cash--I barely had enough, and way higher expectations from a restaurant that's been around for more than a half a century. To the ownership: it is, it always has been, and it will always be about the CUSTOMER'S experience, not your convenience. It's past time to renew that commitment. read more

Good pizza joint, one of the waitresses at least is nice. The larger waitress with the shorter red hair is a nightmare. She was snotty and rude to me and my boyfriend who were already being helped by the nice waitress with dark hair. We came there on a date and she was hateful not only to us but the other waitress right in front of us. I don't know how she keeps a job but if the owners know what's good for them or their business they'd get rid of that one FAST! What a witch! read more

For some odd reason my family used to love having get togethers here, and all I remember is crying having to eat their pizza. Nothing has changed, im just a lot older now. One time I was there and ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. It was one single craft cheese split in two on dry bread and a giant soggy tomato. When I asked the waitress about it she basically told me I was wrong for asking and if I don't like it tough luck. Then I went in recently with two friends of mine because it was a long night and the only place open at the time. They don't let you know where or if you can be seated. We ordered a bottle of wine after being scolded by the old lady behind the bar. When she poured it, she tipped the entire bottle upside down and it poured so hard that the bubbles caused it to only fill one glass. We told her that was wrong and she huffed and gave us another bottle at least. I watched as the place was getting kind of busy and it was being run by three women that looked like they were well past retirement. Which wouldn't be a care in the world to me, but they just couldn't keep up with the demand of the overflowing people and basically were talking horrible to customers and after awhile refusing anymore service before even closing. The pizza is really gross, and pretty much everything else along with it. The place needs to be torn down, it's in pretty bad shape. Don't recommend. Try Pizza Hut. read more

We visited on 8/21/22, and the business was understaffed and fairly busy. We ordered a meatball sub, spaghetti and pepperoni pizza. The regular food came out well before the pizza. We probably waited 45 minutes for our pizza. Those in our party were finished with their food, and we waited another 15 minutes for the pizza to arrive. The waitress didn't charge us for the pizza because of the wait. The pizza/ food was good. I can't give five stars because the food didn't come out together. I'd recommend calling ahead and getting the food carry out. read more
