My wife and I just left Di Abruzzo, we wanted to try their new pasta bowls. We both had the gnocchi with meat balls.l, It was so good I had a second bowl. As they workout the whole Dinning room execution piece this will only get better. It's little choppy with how to order and how to get drinks and how to pay and cash tips only. We made it through and sat for a bit in the casual vibe of dinning room/grocery area. We have been semi frequent guests, they catered my wife's 60th B-Day, Pancetta and thanksgiving and several afternoon stops for an incredible sandwich. Don't hesitate by the look if the place in the little strip mall. There are only a handful of tables inside so not the best place for a table of more than 4, but the food is fantastic. So happy that a place like this exists in our beloved North Texas wilderness! I popped in for a slice of grandma pie and it exceeded expectations. My bar was high based on Ferrari's in Plano. Sadly we didn't take any photos but TRUST me this place is amazing. We ordered the fresh pasta with house made pesto and the Roman sandwich. Both were divine, but the pesto was incredible. Top notch. We also split a cannoli (half and half chocolate and pistachio) and got some provisions (herbed guanciale and spaghetti) to make carbonara, our New Year's Eve tradition! This little shop is now our local, comfort Italian place. We've been here several times as a family of five, we typically spend over $125 each time as we also get dessert. Sadly when we arrived we were told that our allergy kiddo wasn't able to bring her own "safe" food to eat. I explained we had eaten there several times before and never had been told this previously. We were then told that had the owner seen us he wouldn't have allowed outside food, we explained again that every time we bring her food in we see the owner as well as the same woman working the register and this has never been an issue. We also advised our daughter has an epi pen and extreme food allergies. We were told again we couldn't bring her food into eat. We decided to leave and will not be returning. We went down the street to another awesome Italian restaurant who was more than happy to accommodate our daughter bringing her own safe food into eat while we enjoyed the food they prepared for us. read more

Cannolis filled to order, & the chocolate chip ones are possibly the best I've ever had. The market is filled with a great variety of prepared foods, fresh veggies & bread, all kinds of meats & cheeses, pastas, wine (& wine by the glass if eating in), beer, & all the ingredients you need for making your own Italian meals. Took my son and daughter-in-law for lunch today. Usually a five-star adventure but, a little disappointed in the Italian sandwich my son ordered, we asked for the spicy pepper relish and it was missing and seems to have decreased a layer of meat. Otherwise he did enjoy it. The Caprese hoagie was good and I had the peppers and sausage hoagie very flavorful, but needs a little something, maybe a little olive oil or marinara on the side, but understand I could ask for this next time, would not expect it to just be part of the sandwich if it's not part of the original recipe Jack has. I saw a couple of new faces today. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Seriously it's not worth driving all the way to Dallas when you have this hot spot right here in Denton. Coming from an Italian family and traveling to Italy many times I think I understand, the love of the simplicity in the authentic ingredients and the love in which they're made. Whenever I travel, this is the place I hit to pack a bag to go with me. It would take something pretty unremarkable to give me a reason to give them anything under Five stars. Now that the honeymoon is over and Di Abruzzo is well established, I have decided to write my review. I like the concept as it basically puts Eately at North Park Mall at my doorstep, but the prices are discouraging. They sell the brand Cento for more than double what you can buy it at Walmart. I have eaten here multiple times and always disappointed. Their sandwich always look good, but they are ALWAYS bread heavy and very dry. Today, I decided to try the Chicken Milenes...it came out with one dry piece of breaded chicken and a salad. I had to ask for some marinara to be able to each it as it didn't hav3e a lot of flavor and was dry---so one piece of chicken and a salad was $17 and my wife's meatball sandwich was $17 with two glasses of house red wine with taxes came out to just over $50. This is an expensive lunch that to be honest the tasted didn't justify. The wine wasn't good and I love Italian wines. For the price, it was just disappointing. I know with small establishments that they must charge more to make ends meet---I just wish the food experience matched the price. I am leaning on 2 stars to be honest, but I have found the selection of meats and cheeses for a good charcuterie board to be good. read more

However, the bread was so hard it made it feel like I was eating deliciousness stuffed in between unseasoned croutons. Bread shouldn't be so hard that a chainsaw is required to eat it. Found out about this Hidden Gem through "Foodie Friday DFW", on Facebook... Stopped in earlier this week for lunch. I had their Meatball Sub that was FANTASTIC!!!
