One thing that I really appreciate about Devout is that they have a diagram of how much milk is added to different coffee drinks like a latte, cappuccino, cold brew, etc. I never knew the difference so I always thought I enjoyed lattes but I think I am more of a cappuccino gal now (decided after visiting Devout) since I do not like my coffee that milky but still appreciate the foam. I remember coming here soon after it first opened, when the inside looked quite different, and while the look has been remodeled over the years, I'm still a huge fan of their coffee, pastries, and overall vibe. The chill Niles neighborhood also adds to the general feeling of relaxation. FOOD + DRINK: The espresso drinks menu is pretty simple - it's the same amount of espresso with different amounts of milk for a different total drink size. You won't find any grande-sized, much less venti-sized, drinks here, but you'll get some quality coffee to sip and enjoy. I find their coffee has an overall strong, smooth, well-balanced taste. I usually get a latte or mocha and appreciate that the microfoam stays for a while - and the latte art can be a delight to see. Pastry selection varies on the day and time; I've tried the kouign amman, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate concha bun, savory spinach pastries (these are better freshly toasted though), etc. SEASONAL DRINKS: + Vanilla citrus hystrix (January 2020 seasonal drink, $5): such a refreshing iced combo of vanilla, lime, and espresso flavors. I've never had espresso with tonic water before, and I'm not a huge fan of a lot of carbonated drinks, but this was surprisingly good. I hope they keep this past January, or bring it back on the menu in the warmer months - I would definitely get this again. Stopped in here to meet up with a friend on a Sunday at around 11AM. It's located in the older area of Fremont off of Niles. They were super busy, but staff was very friendly and were pumping out drinks as fast and efficiently as they could. I was sad their holiday eggnog coffee was out so I tried their seasonal Gingerbread one which was pretty tasty. I didn't have time to take any pics, but the foam on top of my coffee was a beautiful display. They also have pastries. I had their banana walnut which was bomb! Bread was super soft, and it had just enough walnuts in it for crunch! Seating indoors was pretty minimal especially since they were busy. We've been here many times over the past two years, this is the only nice pour-over premium coffee we can think of in this area, the next closest ones being in Oakland and San Jose. Today while I was drinking my morning brew from Devout I said out loud "Damn that's a good Cappucino". Really like this place and hope it encourages other places w/ the same vibe to open in this area. They roast their own beans and every cup is made to order at the perfect temperature so you get a very good Coffee. There's a small shop w/ cool branded shirts and nice equipment needed to make pourover coffee at home. They also sell their beans and it's an amazing gift for friends, families, coworkers this Holiday. We took 4 bags home this morning after someone came and wiped them out this weekend! Ambiance is very cool too, can't wait till Covid ends and we can chill here again. Since covid has started there is pretty much never a "hot" time so parking and coming here is always easy even on a Friday night or Saturday. read more

Once inside we placed our order and I got the almond croissant with a honey flowery iced latte and I was really looking forward to it. Really enjoyed our visit to Devout! It was a rainy Saturday and tons of people were inside. Service was so friendly, the woman who took my order commented on how lovely my farmers market strawberries looked. Quite disappointed in my experience here. I'm relatively new to the area and really wanted to try out a local coffee shop. Came in on a busy Sunday and asked for a vanilla latte and a cold brew with milk. The barista's reaction was so pretentious- she was actually offended at my order. At first she told me they don't do vanilla lattes, so when I asked for an alternative, she snarkily responded with a mocha. Then when I asked again for milk on the cold brew she responded with "well I can only add a little bit because that just defeats the purpose of a cold brew". Been here for a handful of times now and love every visit. They also make their own bakery goods that are absolutely delish! The first few visits I was a bit late and they did not have anything. my earlier visit I was able to try a few and the goat cheese pretzel was superb! Their coffee has a good nice kick of caffeine I love it! I also was able to get a bottle of thei cold brew and it def is cold brew to perfection! The service was friendly but incredibly slow. Both baristas spent more time talking to a cute boy (a co-worker, perhaps?) than making drinks. I really didn't like that all three of them were talking over the drinks that were (slowly) being made. It did not seem sanitary at all.
