We were in town for my friends birthday and wanted to have a nice steak dinner, we left pretty disappointed. The reviews were so good, I'm not sure why. We both ordered the surf & turf, I got the 8oz center cut filet (ordered medium) with the blackened shrimp and scallops with a side of grilled asparagus and the lobster Mac and cheese. The steak was extremely overcooked, dry, tough and bland. The shrimp and scallops weren't even hot, barely room temperature. The asparagus was bland, no seasoning whatsoever, only good part was the mac. My friend got the 8oz center cut filet and crab cake with garlic potatoes and the lobster Mac and cheese. She liked the crab cake but said again, it wasn't seasoned very well. She ordered her steak medium rare, this thing basically came out still mooing. It was essentially RAW and still cold in the center. She loves a good medium rare steak but this wasn't that. Even our waiter asked if she wanted them to put it on the grill for a bit longer. They came back with it 2 min later and it wasn't any better. She took one bite and said it had a funky taste and didn't end up eating any of it. Hello, if you're in Hershey Pa Devon Seafood And Steak is an absolute must go to. The food from the appetizers to the main dishes are truly incredible. From the moment you enter this restaurant you're treated like the most important person to ever walk into their establishment. Once you sit down the service is full on perfection. The waiters was not only super friendly and knowledgeable but he truly knew the menu from preparation to taste. His recommendations were spot on. My daughter had the swordfish and I did taste it. It was the best swordfish I have ever had. My wife and I had the seafood sampler which was, shrimp, salmon, Yukon mashed potatoes, which were simply outstanding. There was a crab cake as well, which was perfection. To say the seafood was some of the best I have tasted anywhere, would not be a lie at all. It was my daughter's birthday and they gave her a special piece of cake with a candle to celebrate. The inside of this restaurant was absolutely beautiful. Beautiful fireplaces throughout and the perfect lighting fir a relaxing time. Prices were extremely good and trust me, well worth it. Devon Seafood will be on my list whenever we are in Hershey Pa. Everything was absolutely amazing, from the cheddar biscuits to dessert. We went for lunch yesterday to celebrate my birthday, and had an incredible meal. Our server, Henry, was exceptional and made the experience that much more special. I started with the Pacific Punch, and my boyfriend got unsweetened iced tea. Both were better than expected. I got the Seafood mixed grill, and had what was probably the best crab cake I have ever tasted. My boyfriend got the barramundi and lobster mac & cheese. He was really impressed with both. Carrot cake for dessert, (Henry even lit a candle for me) and a trio of ice cream and sorbet for the gentleman. Everything was amazing, we definitely be going back. For an upscale Seafood Restaurant I was quite disappointed. I have a shrimp allergy. So when I go to a seafood restaurant I expect to be able to read their menu and know which items have shrimp in them. I should not have to ask if the lobster mac and cheese has shrimp in it. I also should be able to expect that the lobster bisque is truly lobster bisque! Whenever I go to a restaurant that serves shrimp I always let my waiter know that I have a shrimp allergy. It's a precaution I have learned to take for my own benefit. But if I order an item that does not have shrimp listed as an ingredient I should be safe. But what I learned at Devon, is there chef throws anything and everything into his dishes. So if you have allergies to anything I advise you not to eat at this restaurant!!! read more

Tis is the place for FRESH seafood! We ordered the crabcake app and there was no filler and was complimented by apple celery slaw, which was amazing. The two sauces one mild, one spicy were dead on fantastic in flavor. The she crab soup was the only subpar thing we had as it had a nice balance of tomato, cream and sherry but very little crab. The 1 lb lobster with the apple celery slaw and mushroom risotto was amazing! The wife ordered a steak which was butterflied and cook to perfection. The hardest thing was finding the restaurant which is in the same building as houlihans, which is prominently displayed on all sides of the building and devon signage is a bit hidden. Devon Seafood has been around for a few years at this location. There are four branches of this restaurant in Hershey, Chicago, Milwaukee and Philadelphia. We ordered the jumbo crabcakes, mashed potato, asparagus and biscuit meal (24.00) and a grilled cheese, french fries, milk & ice cream kids meal (7.95) for our children. Our server was inforamtive and could tell us all about the fish and the different items on the menu. Portions were fair, not large but fair. Prices ran from 9 -25 dollars for an entree with appetizers running 6 - 15 dollars each. I'd like to try the sushi rolls if i'm ever back. The prices on our bill was off slightly (1.00) than what their menu said, this is only noteworthy because they print the current date on the menu every day. I had a business dinner here with five other people, several of whom were not seafood fans. Everyone agreed the food was very good, including our 2 guests from England. I think everyone had a higher opinion of the food than I did. This is not to say it wasn't good. They start you off with these biscuits that were quite good. I had a goat cheese bruschettta which was good. Everyone had fish for their entree: I had the grouper with delicious mashed potatoes and asparagus. The service was a little slow, but our waiter was fine. I can't rave about the place, but can recommend it. It's not cheap, entrees are around $30. Portions are not big. read more

It is not often a restaurant would garner a 5 star from me. It all begins with first impressions and ends with the second I walk out the door. Reservations are encouraged if you want to sit down in the booths which would make the experience more comfortable. You can walk in but you may have to wait on a busy night which is fine if you don't mind a drink or two at a quality bar staffed by knowledgeable bartenders. (They managed a decent Velvet Hammer.) Food-wise, the concept is excellent. Fresh fish will change depending on the month so you are not faced with the same old same old fish all the time. It came down between two, both which were ordered between me and Rosemary. She had what I wanted in the first place and it was excellent, a macadamia encrusted fish from Hawaii while I had the lobster macaroni cheese with Nantucket bay scallops, just as equally good but I still would have liked to eat all of the other dish. Appetizers were excellent and dessert was absinthe. For those of you who don't like liquor or even the taste of licorice, don't waste your time. It's a beautiful drink to watch but tough to sip. However it is mixed with champagne and I encourage connoisseurs to try. Good for a date but family? Gotta be old enough to enjoy a conversation and the quality of the meal. Its taken me four months to finally write this review. February 2nd was my second visit to Devon. The first time was magic. The service, the food, the ambiance... dreamy. I was so excited that I asked for my big 40th birthday for my whole family to take me there. I couldn't wait to show the place off. Lets start positively, the Good things: Helpful hostesses Coat check Fish was great. My Mom appreciated the coffee cup was warmed to keep coffee warmer longer And now the ire: I placed the reservation via OpenTable and put in the notes: 40th Birthday, please seat somewhere a bit more private AND I called ahead to remind the staff!! Now, if you were in restaurant management, what would you do with a party of 6 celebrating a milestone birthday? Oh that's right seat them by the flipping kitchen ........ The Noisy, busy, kitchen.... for my 40th Birthday. Yay me I saw that if you signed up online ahead of time you could receive something complimentary for your birthday the day before. So I went ahead and registered online but their web folks don't do weekends so no birthday emails were sent to my inbox. I did mention it to the hostess over the phone. She said "Make sure to tell your server!" I told our server and her reply "Happy Birthday!" ... That was it. All of it... We were seated in the poorly lit booth for 15 minutes before our server came to take our drink orders. Another 25 minutes for them to arrive. One of the members in my party requested a soda no ice. He received it 70 minutes after we were seated and 45 minutes after she brought it with ice. (He was still charged for it too, how sweet...) My cocktail was over boozed and too tart. Don't they teach mixology anymore? The flavors weren't working well together. Refills? Non-existent. The service was so poor none of us got a refill. My sister asked to change from soda to coffee and was charged for both Eventhough her soda was more carbonated water than syrup. The food took an hour to arrive the fish was beautiful. The veggies were cold. The lobster mac (my fave) was dry and boring. The french fries were stone stone cold. Now wait... it gets better or should I say juicier: Three times we had to ask the wait staff (not our server) to GET server to come back to the table. The wait staff girl was far more responsive then the chick mean to get a tip! We waited 20 minutes to get our bills. My niece received a bill from wrong table, paid it and then said "Wait we didn't order this." She paid for both bills and was told the first would be removed in 3-5 days 0.o It was an awful birthday dinner. I was mortified to have asked my family to go there with me. We won't be returning. This is, as far as I know, the best restaurant in the Hershey area. I moved to central PA in summer of 2010, and I've tried many local restaurants, including the Circular Dining Room and Harvest at the Hotel Hershey, the Hershey Grille, the Chocolate Avenue Grille, the Ice House, and the Blue Bird Inn. I also went to the "Taste of Harrisburg" in downtown Harrisburg where many local restaurants served food. Devon and the Hotel Hershey had the best offerings there, so I don't think I've missed anything better (save in Lancaster. I have not made a thorough exploration of the dining options down that way). On the other hand, Devon is much more pricey than some of the restaurants I mentioned above. However, my reviews are generally made on quality, not on value. If you want to eat the best food in town and have quality service while doing it, go to Devon. I am originally from San Diego, so I have some experience with world-class dining. Devon is not that. But my five stars takes location into account --- there is no reason that a world-class restaurant should exist in Hershey. I don't think there would be enough demand to support top talent and top ingredients. Devon is top notch for its location, so I am happy to give it five stars. read more

The menu was overpriced and the salmon that I ordered did not taste fresh. The only thing that I somewhat enjoyed was the mac and cheese. Although the food wasn't the best, the exceptional service made up for it. Our waiter was informative and patient. I don't know what it was about this place, but I just can't give it 4 stars... The vibe is very trendy and cool, and they specialize in fresh fish... everything's flown in that am, not good for the environment (maybe that's my annoyance?) but good for quality and the palate. The waitstaff was really nice but super slow (and it wasn't that busy, another reason for 3 stars). The food was just alright. I guess I expected to have my socks blown off, as Hershey advertises this restaurant like it's the best thing on the planet, but I've had much better meals in larger, and smaller towns (and, actually, in this one, as well, as it's my fourth visit here). Apparently the table behind me agreed because their response was, "It's just ok" when the manager came by and asked how their meal was. I started off with the salad with tomatoes and dried cherries, which was ok but feel it should have been better then it was. I also had the grilled shrimp enchiladas. It looked awesome and sounded amazing, but, again, was just ok. I can't really put my finger on why... Devon's was the ideal stop for a bite before we went to a show at the Hershey Theater. Service was great, oysters were a treat, and most of the food was DEEEElish!! I had the tuna tartare and enjoyed every moment. Two of our party of four had the mixed seafood grill. Tuna on there was delightful as well (just seared..perfect), but the scallops and shrimp were WAAAAY salty. Mixed green salad with feta, pine nuts, cranberries and honey vinaigrette dressing was yummy, too. Drinks were pricey but good ($11 martinis, $31 bottle of bubbly). We had reservations for 5:30 and were seated when we got there. We were heading toward the theater by 7:15. I'll go back, for sure. read more

4 friends and I drove from Annapolis, MD to see Kevin Hart at the Giant center. When we were about an hour away we were looking for somewhere to have a great meal so we started yelping. We decided it was a special occasion so we would splurge a little. Devon Seafood and Steak was open for business on new years day and were able to take a reservation for us right away. We walked into the busy restaurant and were seated immediately. (thank god for the reservation, a walk in before us was given an hour wait time). No sooner did we sit down were were served warm biscuits with maple butter and water. The maple butter was out of this world. Soon after, our server came over to tell us a little bit about Devon's and take our drink orders. The drinks were equally amazing. We ordered a blackberry martini, the chocolate kiss martini, and two of the heavy pour drinks. The food was exceptional. I was so beyond pleased with everything and me being a picky eater this is surprising 3 of us got the filet. It was simply out of this world. The cut was tender and there was so much flavor that it makes my mouth water thinking about it. The side dishes for the filet were equally amazing. We had the whipped potatoes, roasted potatoes, asparagus, and creamed corn. We also had the pleasure of the trying the blackened chicken penne pasta and a caesar salad, also delicious. I think this is about as good as it gets in the Harrisburg/Hershey area for seafood. Definitely a step up from the Rock Bass. The fish, which is the star of the show of course, is quite simply sublime. Freshly flown in every day, simply grilled or seared, it's wonderful. The striped bass we had was scrumptious. The steaks are also extremely good. The 6 oz. filet was mesquite grilled to perfection. And I'd also like to say that the lobster ravioli was awesome. As for sides; the lobster mac n' cheese practically made me swoon. The lemon-asparagus risotto was very, very good. Even the vegetables, which are normally an over-cooked afterthought, were properly cooked and simply delicious. Special note goes to the biscuits with sweet butter, which were divine to say the least. I scarfed down 3 of them without even thinking about it. The decor of the place was lovely. It was all at once elegant, dark, and trendy in a good way...very casual and cool, and it had a very nice 'vibe' to it. You know how some places can kind of make you feel like you're an afterthought or an interruption? I never felt that way here. We did not try the dessert, but three others at our table had the chocolate cake, the key-lime pie and some sort of apple-pie crumble/tart looking thing (which looked the best, to me), and all claimed they were excellent. Maybe I'll save some room next time. So, in short, we're going back. Oh, yes. We're going back. Again and again if this keeps up. A short note about the menu; the menu is freshly printed every day, so disregard the menu that's printed on the website. I originally went there with the express intention of having fresh Pennsylvania trout, but I was a bit disappointed when I arrived that it was not on the menu. Deep down, I had an inkling that there was a classy, quiet and nice restaurant in Central PA where I can get fresh seafood without enduring the long drive to Baltimore or the even longer drive to the seashore. And tucked away in Chocolate Town, it exists - thank you Devon Seafood Grill! Devon is a stylish and classy restaurant - without the pretense. Service is friendly, fast and professional. Our waiter was wonderful and gave suggestions and felt us feel welcome as this was our first time. I had the trout which was fresh. The fish is fresh as the restaurant states where the fish is caught and how it is caught on the menu - as you don't have to feel silly for asking. Not that you should feel silly. You have a right to know. I was given a choice of two sides so I went with the lemon asparagus risotto. And of course, I had the raved about lobster mac n' cheese.... I'd describe it but I think everyone else's descriptions of it are both suitable and accurate. Prices are steep but the food is top notch, fresh and the portions are not skimpy - even when you opt for dessert. They aren't going to serve you a slab of carrot cake - you're going to get a TOWERING slice of carrot cake. The portions, service and quality are forgivable for the prices. An important note about the fish: If you would like the salmon, I noticed they only seem to have the Atlantic salmon listed on the lunch menu. They have wild salmon on the lunch menu online but they do NOT list wild salmon on the menu when you're dining there. Ask for it. I am not sure if this is noticeable on the dinner menu or not as I've only been here for lunch. There is about a $10 price difference between the two so maybe that's the reason? However, I just wanted to state that they certainly do prepare wild salmon for those of you who would prefer wild salmon. read more

I've had the pleasure of eating at Devon's several times now and I'm always very pleased with both the food and service. The last time we were there was for my birthday. While I wish they had a little more seasoning...their crab cakes are absolutely amazing. The best crab meat I've ever had. My bf's mahi was absolutely amazing. Our server was a lot of fun and took excellent care of us. A lunch item I really enjoy is the Crab Melt. It's incredibly delicious. I really should only eat half, but I always end up chowing down on the whole thing because it's just. so. good. I wish I could go more often, but the prices are a bit out of my usual budget. I can't believe I forgot to write a review for this place! Well I give Devon 5 stars for a combination of the service, food quality, ambaince and total dinning experience. I like to come here when I have family in town or just because. Service has always been great here, can't complain. The atmosphere of the place is great. I don't drink wine, but I love the huge wine rack they have. I think that one of the biggest plus' of this place is the fact that they have their fish delivered fresh daily, Monday thru Saturday.
