Awesome hotdog and buger joint downtown ..the best clucker sandwich in town made with homemade slaw and pickles absolutely mouth watering Decent prices too read more

Lived above devil dawgs for two years. Messy, greasy, delicious late night food. If you're looking for pretty food go somewhere else, but if you're looking for some TASTY af drunk/high eats make sure to stop in and grab a bucket of rings w awesome sauce and a legendary shake. read more

1) Oil was very old and fries tasted like old oil. Ick. 2) I ordered a cheeseburger and was charged for and given a double (upsell #1). 3) Also ordered the "cheapest" soft drink and was given the more expensive fountain drink instead of a can. (upsell #2). So I find this to be a rip-off for mediocre food. read more

I love love love that they have options for vegetarians. I usually get the veggie Chicago dog and some onion rings. Love this place :)

Had the Chicago dog. It was great, but the hot dog seemed relatively small for the price. The service was a bit slow as we waited 15 minutes for only two hot dogs. read more

First off, I couldn't have been more excited for this addition to the neighborhood. I've lived in the neighborhood for 4 years and we haven't had a place that is open late, quick, easy and cheap. Sounds perfect. Me and two friends decided to swing in and give it a go. We had an array of items off the menu, hot dogs, burgers and fries being our main priority. I'm a huge chicago style dog fan, I've been to most joints around the city and suburbs, and needless to say i was so pumped to have a place a half block from my place.... COULDN'T have been more disappointed it started off poorly, the cashier was nice but really didn't know what was going on. Which led to my burger having the wrong toppings. Not a huge the deal, the kitchen staff was quick to fix and apologize, not the end of the world. THEN I sit down and have one of the paintings fall off the wall and hit me as I'm about to eat, also could be worse, I wouldn't hold that against them either. BUT their chicago dog...... $3 will get you a dog and for another $3 you'll get the fries and a drink...the dog was cold, the sport peppers chopped( i get it speed up process time, but i see it as cheating, they also asked if I wanted KETCHUP on my hot dog!! I wont forgive for this!! a hot dog sin in this city!!) definitely not a highlight. I also had a single burger($2 comes with "house sauce" aka ketchup, mustard and onions) it was the size of a slider and tasted like a frozen patty that I'd grill at home. I had regular fries which were definitely the only stand out, probably why i gave them 2 stars, but we got cheese and devil sauce for dipping. The cheese sauce was not you're normal dirty cheese sauce, definitely "interesting" and none of us really touched it after trying it The icing on the cake was what seemed to be the owner came over and asked how everything was, we all said ok, except my friend said he didn't like the sauce and the owner then asked which one, he pointed out the devil sauce. At which point the owner didn't say sorry or anything, just shrugged it off and walked away as if he was thinking well other people like it so F off. WHY Gene and Judes has to be in River Grove is just baffling, but I guess I'll continue to make trips out to get a real dog. As for this place, I'll go back in as there aren't many options for late night food, but I guess South Loop Club will have to do. Summed up- great for Columbia kids that don't know better and have no where else to go read more

I live in Chicago, so I am a faithful Chicago style dog lover. I was so happy to see a new place with great quality meat. Excellent food, priced right with great service. They certainly know how to do it Chicago style. Great creamy shakes, and home cut fresh fries. Fast, friendly service. I highly recommend it for you fast food fix. read more

BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL ONION RINGS. Came here to get the kickass burger, which was excellent as always, and onion rings. Order came out with what were clearly frozen distribution bought onion rings. Heart broken. Saturday perfect lunch compromised. Will still be back, however the onion rings were a staple of this place and they need to get their soul back. read more

Was here last week but forgot to review it.Tried the chicago dogs (two) and had a small fry and a bottle of water. The hot dogs were phenomenal.Poppy seed, chicago style. They use Red hot chicago hot dogs here which are my favorite over Vienna beef but it's all in the preporation of the hot dog that counts.A first for me was the fact that the sport peppers were sliced on the dog instead of whole which meant tasting them in every bite. The menu is a bit over whelming and behind you when you order but this is a good place with many choices.I'll be back. read more

The absolute best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. The Rooster is a masterpiece! Not only was everyone's meal delicious and with great service, we followed that up with the best peanut butter banana shake EVER!! Also, the wife is not too keen on hotdogs, however she gave the cheddar bacon dawg a try & now proclaims she will only be eating these Dawgs after dusting it off in about 20 seconds!! Awesome sauce for sure!! Everything on the menu was a hit with the family. Highly recommended. read more

I was pumped to hear Devil Dawns was opening a location in the south loop. Just like the Lincoln park location, they're food and customer service is great. The Coney fries are impossible to stop eating. Pair that with one of their hotdogs or burgers and your set. Plus they have a lot of additional toppings you could add to your burger which is always a bonus. I tried the strawberry fresh shake and it was as good as they get. They start delivering next week which is great because the only downside is finding parking. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

By virtue of a 90-minute wait at the Lou Malnati's, we moved our group up State to Devil Dogs for dinner, and I was very pleased with the result. They specialize in greasy (read: fresh and tasty) little slider burgers and hot dogs, with a variety of toppings, flavors, and add-ons. This is an especially awesome situation for someone like myself who likes to try both the standard and the exotic from a new place, so I ordered a morning burger (with bacon and fried egg), an Elvis (with sriracha and peanut butter) and a Chicago dog (peppers, onion, pickle, mustard, and of course NO KETCHUP). All were excellent. As meaty and rich as the morning burger was, and the Chicago dog popped bright and sour flavors in my mouth, that weird-sounding Elvis burger stole the show, even from the bucket of newly-made fries. Alas that I will not be in the neighborhood in the foreseeable future, because based on this first visit, Devil Dogs must have a hundred other winners that I will not get to try any time soon, and at a great price for someone looking to get adventurous with the menu. read more

Shake came watered down.. i took a bite into the burger 2 hard ass peppers almost broke my teeth everyone i was with said this food was awful better off going to mcdoanlds.. the guy gave everyone a bag besides us i noticed.. the vibe in here is just trash! food was terrible id give 0stars if i could. Hopefully this saves you from having a bad meal! read more

Great little gem in South Loop! I had the Morning Burger double slider, bag of onion rings and the butterscotch shake. The burger was just enough, tasty patties, good bread and egg was delicious, fried perfectly with thick egg yolk, not uncooked or too runny, which is so often the trouble with eggs in burgers. The onion rings were flaky and yummy and the shake was smooth, thick, cold and not too sweet. Highly recommend trying them out. They have burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries and onion rings. read more

The chicago style hot dogs are overrated. If you want a Chicago Dog, try the ones from Max's takeout on Adams and State. I feel like quality has gone done in terms of the poppy seed bun. When I ate one a few days ago, the bread tasted very generic. Also don't buy the burgers, they are tiny and not worth buying unless you buy like three or more. Also, the milkshakes are tasty, but way over priced if you ask me, but if money is no object, then go for it. By the way they raised the price to $6!!! Are you kidding me, with $6 you can actually buy food that will keep you full for a certain amount of hours. Then what angered me even more was that I had to wait more than 20 minutes for a Chicago Dog! Like are you kidding me! It's a hot dog, it shouldn't require a lot of time to prepare. I will be coming back here to see if things change, because I do believe in second chances because this place has always been one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat. But with my recent visit, I was incredibly disappointed with service and food quality. read more

I visited Devil Dawgs during a business trip to Chicago. It was open late and not too much else was open in the area, and the prices initially seemed reasonable. I had a Chicago dawg and a polish sausage. Both were mediocre to average. There are much better versions of both hot dogs and polish sausage in Chicago. Won't be going back. read more

Awesome dogs, fries and onion rings. No A/C so sit near door on hot days. Decent prices too.

Clearly states open until 3am on window. Currently 2:46 and door is locked for further customers. I live 2 blocks away and will not recommend or visit from now on. read more

The hot dogs were great. Open late. Something the south loop needed. Owner was very nice. He also sent out a Chicago Dog on the house for us to try. Will be back to try that Elvis Burger. read more

If it's a relatively busy night - don't expect anything good from these guys. They don't listen, get orders wrong, and are rude. They're rude even on slow nights actually. If you do decide to chance it, avoid the onion togs which are basically overly greasy onion floss with chunks of batter hanging off. The shakes aren't bad. But they're also 6 dollars each. read more

Loaded fries and onion rings were great! Hot dogs were really good. Need to eat them hot though (we had a long drive home). Could have done without the sliders. They were just okay. Nothing to write home about. Person taking our order was patient and very nice since it was our first time. read more

Staying in downtown and a couple people said to try this place. I looked it up on yelp and thought wow could be good. Little did I know their hamburgers are a size of pepperoni and they are smacked with oil that will lead you to the hospital. The fried are freshly cut but you'd rather have the freezer ones. I thought wow 19$ to feed two people isn't bad. Yeah it was terrivle. Hot dogs weren't anything special either. read more

Beware. Sent wrong order to us which we discovered after opening the food and touching it. The delivery guy then asked for all the food back to deliver it. That's against health code. Do you want the food we touched? He said the restaurant will dock his check, even though the restaurant did not supply the right food. Not a reputable business to order something from that will be put in your body. Plus, the dogs came completely wet smushed and nasty. read more

AWFUL - was screamed at by workers because I wanted to come in 30 minutes before they were even closed. Why do they advertise a 3 am closing time when they wont even let you in HALF AN HOUR before their actual "closing" time? I'd love to know why this place thinks they're so above their customers that they can have 2 employees scream at someone over the phone for just trying to get food before their POSTED closing time? If they close earlier, it should be at LEAST posted on their door, let alone online. Somewhere I've actually enjoyed going has been RUINED by the scum that run this place. I'd rather eat somewhere that spits in my food. DO NOT EAT HERE. read more

After a Saturday filled with a kick-butt workout class and equally gruelling errands, I decided to stop into Devil Dawgs for a late lunch. The Chicago Dawg is a classic and was perfectly executed, down to the poppy-seed bun. The fries were good as a splurge, but I probably would stick with just the dog on my next visit. The woman taking the orders at the counter was efficient and professional, and I couldn't believe how quickly my order came out. It was hot-by temperature- which is also a plus. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but coming in as I did later in the afternoon I had no problem nabbing a place to sit. With its location on State Street and proximity to Columbia College, you're sure to get in some quality people watching along with your dawgs (or burgers). I saw a guy wearing a Keep Calm and Sit on My Face t-shirt, completely devoid of irony (the guy, not the shirt). I'll probably not make a special trip here but will definitely keep this spot in mind next time my hungry monster rears its head if I happen to be in the area. read more

Do yourself a favor and GO HERE NOW!! While writing this review I am already planning my next trip to Chicago just so I can eat here again. Let me pick up my jaw and start writing this review by telling you BEST PLACE EVER! Super cheap hot dogs with chicken and cheese burger options with fresh cut fries, soda and milkshakes. Best milkshake I have had in my entire life. You are really doing a disservice to yourself if you don't at least try this delicious spot in the loop. Its fast, friendly service, cheap, and milkshakes...did I mention MILKSHAKES?! read more

Cool but small location. The food was very good and parking nearby was not to bad or expensive for Chicago. I had a Chicago hot dog and daughter had a slider. We all had milkshakes. It was all good. Lots of choices on menu. If it's a first time it could be overwhelming. read more

Food is amazing!!!! Came all the way from California!!! Must try the New York and Chicago dog!!

I live down the street, so I tried it out on opening day. The owner greeted us promptly with free rice crispy treats to celebrate. Good start. The menu is diverse and probably very unhealthy, but you don't come here for a salad. Smaller burgers = cheap prices that scale with the amount of food you want to buy (you can go up to a triple patty which by my estimate would be a 2/3 lb burger for less than $6, even for the specials). I got a single burger + fries + a shake for incredibly cheap (maybe $11 I think?). Didn't get a hot dog (going to have to go back for that). My burger: the "Elvis Burger," an American staple usually made with peanut butter and pickles. Named after the King probably because he had a heart attack for eating too many of these. Good way to go, in my opinion. (Also funny how many people here have already tried or mentioned this burger in their reviews). The Devil Dawgs version ditches the pickles and is composed of peanut butter, bacon, cheese, and Sriracha sauce. I got the single, which was probably slightly less than a 1/4lb burger (thick, but small in radius). Think: Whopper Jr. in size. But at under $4, it's worth it easily. The patty itself was cooked perfectly, unlike the charred patties you get at Five Guys. The peanut butter was melted and complemented the meat and bacon very well. I was skeptical of the Sriracha at first, but it complemented the sweet sticky peanut butter and savory bacon and cheese, making the whole experience fantastic. The bun was also good - some sort of potato bread bun, not a typical cheap white bread one. Honestly this was a frigging delicious burger. There are tons of variations of burgers available as well, plus a portobello burger that's veggie friendly, and a fried chicken sandwich that also looked pretty good on the menu. The fries: well-seasoned, tasted natural and not over-fried or undercooked. The softer variety of fry, thick cut. Reminds me a lot of Five Guys fries. I personally prefer crispier fries for dunking in my milkshake, but that's just me. Also available are tons of variations on cheese fries, so I'll have to get those eventually. The Shake: I went for a Dark Chocolate Ghirardelli. $4.99 for a 24 ounce shake with copious whipped and a cherry. My god was this delicious - thick, well-flavored, not too much chocolate. The other flavors they offered were many and multiple, and I'll probably be trying a lot of them by the end of this year. I went back the next night after visiting Hackney's, eager to have a midnight milkshake nightcap. Sadly they had run out of ice cream at that point; apparently it was one of the best selling things opening weekend, according to the manager. I can understand why. Finally a thought - I compared this place to Five Guys a lot because that is their main competition in this area for burgers and fries. Five Guys is ok and you get a lot for what you pay - free toppings, massive amounts of fries. But 5G lags behind in quality: only one type of cheese (American - eugh), or their fries are not cooked consistently or over-flavored. I don't care if I get free peanuts if my meals don't have variety or quality. But Devil Dawgs has shredded cheddar, pepper jack, and american for their burgers! And damn good fries. So yeah, this place is going to be a big problem for my diet. read more

I wanted to give this place 5-stars but I can't. The staff wasn't that friendly or helpful. Didn't offer any suggestions on the menu and when I asked for some Ranch dressing was told I had to pay. Which is odd since the guy ahead of me asked for Ranch and was given Ranch? My order was over $15. I shouldn't have to pay for Ranch dressing for my sandwich. That being said I tried the chicken sandwich with the egg and it was good but not great. Didn't stay hot for very long and it seemed a bit dry. The chilli cheese fries however were awesome. Stayed hot all the way back to my hotel 12-14 mins away. I was impressed and the fries were seasoned perfectly. Made the experience better. Work on your customer service. read more

I ordered a Chicago dog for delivery and they sent a chili dog? Truly disappointing. It was terrible too.

In the late night hours and your choices are limited devil dawgs is the place to be. Normal complete order time is 15-20 min. The variety of customers will make you lose track of time. If your alcoholic inhibitions are low be aware. The shakes kick ass and the small hamburgers will ultimately satisfy your post alcohol night hunger. Parking is limited in the front of State St to about 2 cars. Orders move quick. read more

I had the Elvis burger, it has peanut butter, bacon and cheese... sooo delicious. I also ordered the onion rings with the awesome sauce. Both items left me wanting more. As a spot that is open late, I would def recommend the visit. read more

Wow! Probably the best hot dog place in Chicago. I have another favorite for Polish Sausage however this place for hot dogs and fries is amazing. I ordered the Bulldawg which is a batter dipped deep fried hot dog that is on the thicker side. It is served on a lobster roll with bbq sauce, grilled onions, coleslaw, and shredded cheddar. Beyond amazing. Beyond hearty. Nope don't need to eat for the rest of the day. Got a bag of fries extra crispy and they were really yummy. Friends were visiting last year and wanted a hot dog. It's funny how a Chicago hot dog tradition gets out to other parts of the US along with our pizza tradition. I was just puzzled. With all the fabulous restaurants in Chicago why a hot dog? Yet if the request ever comes up again Devil Dogs by far is my local recommendation and I am very choosy and can't even believe I loved this food so much I'm writing this review. Note this place is small. Might need to wait for a table. Might bump into a few people. It's popular the line can be long. Maybe it will take 20 minutes from the time you arrive to get your food? Also the guy at the pick up counter was really nice. Thinking the guy taking orders was tired as he wasn't extra friendly. Not mean. Just a warmer welcome would have made this visit even better. Bravo! They have been in business a long time and have a few locations. read more

Good for the price I guess. It's like a fast casual hot dog place. We had a restaurant full of college kids when we went. We ordered prob four or five dogs and sausages to taste. None stuck out.. I can't even remember them except the Chicago dog, Korean sausage and Mexican sausage. read more

They didn't feel like making the milkshake I ordered. The food is average. Chili dog and slider not worth a hour delivery time.

Perfect spot for a before dinner snack or late night grub. Be warned, the burgers are pretty small... about the size of two White Castle's combined. But what they lack in size they make up for in taste. The fries are hand cut and perfectly fried. And the shakes... the shakes... AWESOME!!! Try the espresso, you won't be disappointed read more

Was looking for a snack on the way back to the hotel from the Field Museum, and came here since I had not grabbed a hot dog in my time here. I just went with a Chicago dog, which was reasonably priced and served quickly. The dog was flavorful and delicious, and not just because I'd spent the whole afternoon walking around Millennium Park and such. Definitely going to check this place out again the next time I'm in Chicago. read more

Let's start off with the negative, I can't tell you how many times I've come to this location at like 11:30 pm and they are closed. I get it, no one wants to stay late and clean up, but if your hours are posted that you're open till midnight you should be open till midnight no question. With that out of the way, the food here is good. If you're looking for a quick burger, dog, or milkshake, and if they're actually open, you can't go wrong here. read more

While in Chicago, I had to try this place that came recommended. I ate the Blue Demon Dog. It came with a delicious, grilled to the point of charring dog, spicy mustard, dill pickle, and kraut. I've tried more than my fair share of dogs, but this was the best I've ever tried - hands down. Price was about $5.50 w/ tax. read more
