We ate there this weekend while staying downtown. I had a chicken sandwich and onion rings. The rings probably would've been better if they weren't soaked in oil. I mean it was beyond normal greasy food. The sandwich was average. Overwhelmed by the crumbled bacon and the cold pretzel bun. They have unique items but feel it's a bit rushed and they are not making the food as intended. read more

"The lies they tell..." Let's just start off by saying that I called from my workplace just up the street from Devil Dawgs 10 mins prior to leaving the building, in hopes to place an order that would be ready by the time I showed. Now, I understand businesses get busy -- I work in a hotel where we get stupid busy in a snap of a finger -- however, what I do not appreciate is how the wait time for my food went unacknowledged, nor did anyone seem to care that it almost took 20 minutes for my order to be ready even when trying to do the right thing and order ahead. Granted, I do work in a place where the level of customer service to be upheld should come second to none, but something as simple as apologizing for the delay in my food preparation would have made me feel better and is actually customer service 101. Needless to say, the behavior exemplified by their employees shouldn't surprise me given the feel of the restaurant, but for someone who goes there quite often, I would expect to be treated a bit better. On a more positive note: their milkshakes are amazing and I'd recommend them to anyone wanting a truly classic, diner-style milkshake that really satisfies even the dullest of taste buds. They definitely have amazing steak burgers, however small they may be, but I'd definitely give them another shot in the near future. I can't speak for the place as a whole, as I haven't tried everything, only in regards to the disservice I was provided. Come on, Devil Dawgs! Step it up! read more

Amazing food!! I would becareful when you get food delivered.. paper bags feel apart and desintegrated from the moisture.. I would ask them to pack it carefully and with plastic. Otherwise, ever thing was delicious! read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and we're lucky to get a seat inside as it can get pretty packed. Tons of options of hotdogs to choose from as well as milk shakes. For the price it was filling and customer service was speedy. read more

In Chicago for a week, so of course had to have the ubiquitous Chicago Dog. These guys do it very well. Vienna beef dog had a great snap, loaded with toppings. Definitely worth a visit read more

I'm just happy something open is now open late in Printer's Row. I had a mighty tasty late night burger here.

Milk shake of the day was Peanut Butter, Chocolate and Oreo! So I just had to order it with my Chicago Polish Dog. Great service and great food! read more

So this is an impulse stop at 2 in the afternoon on Friday and I was expecting a very long line. I felt lucky that no one was in line and there's able to place my order right away and pay over $12 for two dogs and a fry. and you the place is pricey and quite frankly it's not worth it. Button really annoys me on this visit with the fact that there were very few people in the place relatively speaking and it took forever to get simply an order of two dogs and fries. The cashier was all right but the two boys girls putting together the order where once again very immature and I'm not sure what sort of attitude they were having on a Friday afternoon but it was unacceptable. I've ordered onion rings here and I know that's probably made to order and take some time but come on guys. Fries and two dogs at nearly 10-minute wait? I deal with nasty customers all day long and I didn't need to come in here and see two guys act like mean high school girls read more

I went here tonight and was totally offended and disrespected. Arrived at 1117 and was told after entering the place behind 4 people that were white that he is not taking my order the black person. This is the 2nd time SAM has acted as if I was worth nothing after spending hundreds of dollars in this place. His actions continue to be disrespectful and he is blatantly racist. I will not stand back and allow his ignorance to continue and he still have a job. I explained that i would be talking to management he told me they are not gonna do shit, I'll still be here. read more

We stayed in Chicago for a little over a week from California and after eating around for the whole week, this was the only place that made us feel sad that we were going home and wouldn't be able to enjoy for a while! Located a short walk from the loop, this place is a gem where we found the best food. Everything we ordered was delicious, and we couldn't believe how CHEAP it was but in no way did the food taste cheap! We ordered the Chicago dog and the cheddar bacon dog, a bucket o fries (which is just that, a foam bucket, more than enough for 2, and big enough for 3 comfortably), one soda (drinks have free refills and cost like a little over a dollar each!!!! And for desert we shared a strawberry banana smoothie. Being new to the area, we asked what a condiment was called "coney sauce" and "devil sauce". When we did, the very nice guy grabbed a large drink lid and filled it up with both sauces to sample plus some fries! This was a very nice gesture and it was nice to let us try the sauce instead of just telling us what it was! They were like try it for yourself, and we were glad we did because we ended up ordering both sauces to our dogs. For my fellow Californians, the coney sauce tastes like a spicy variation of in n outs special sauce! I loved it immediately. The devil sauce is like a chili beef topping, on the sweet side. The fries were hot and fresh and perfectly tasty. The dogs were delicious and all the toppings added to flavor instead of taking away or downplaying it, and the coney sauce was a perfect compliment to everything. I think the only tip I could give would be to maybe make the dogs a little more well done on the outside so it's a little more crispy, but that's just a personal preference, they were still really good. We also ordered a klucker chicken sandwich which is fried and served on a fresh pretzel bun with mayo and cucumbers. Dip this bad boy in coney or devil sauce and you are good to go! The chicken is great quality and is the perfect type of fried, golden and crisp but not hard and overlooked, we loved it!!!! Like chickfila, except for cheaper ($4.99) with better bread and just really delicious chicken!!! The milkshake was creamy but not clumpy and the flavor was tasty and not overwhelming. Usually I don't like milkshakes because they are too thick. The atmosphere inside was nice and the staff was very nice to us. They have respect for customers and have great customer service. Be aware: this place is in the not so great area of town so be careful, there were a few bums that came in while we were eating asking for money and harassing customers to buy them food, but the staff quickly kicked them out and told them they would not tolerate harassment of their customers. Nice! So, if you are visiting in town or just haven't tried this place yet, you NEED TO TRY IT! you will be so satisfied, your pockets won't cry after grabbing lunch or dinner, and your taste buds will be happy. Go to this place! Do not try any other hot dog place until after you try this one first! ps: THEY ALSO HAVE DELIVERY. until next time, devil dawgs, it was a pleasure to eat your food. read more

THE place for dogs of all breeds! Amazing hot dog menu, in dozens of styles and toppings. Rumor has it they do do allow ketchup, as a gimmick. I'll be back.... read more

Kind of fell upon this place roaming around Chicago. Fairly cheap hot dogs of many different styles, but the fried chicken sandwich, DANG, so crispy, what a chicken sandwich should be like. It's pretty much a no thrills no frills dog joint and I'm ok with that. Taste is not bad, but some of the hot dogs don't really distinguish themselves from each other in terms of flavor. read more

Food was great! I had the polish my husband had the Chicago hot dog and we shared onion rings. The service was great. Prices were reasonable. I would will go back and try the chicken sandwich. The peppers on the hot dogs were perfect, I can't eat spicy food, so I was completely surprised I enjoyed and could handle the heat. The onion rings were crisp. The food was fresh and hot. read more

Waited two hours for delivery and nothing. Been 2.5 hours now and still nothing, called restaurant and they said there was nothing they could do. They care more about being hip than providing good service. Never again. read more

Wide selection of dogs, burgers, and shakes. Cool vibe in this charmingly cramped venue. Chicago dog was consistently amazing as all I have had in Chicago so far have been. Boykin dog was good, but slaw was lacking in distinction considering how much it disintegrated the bun. The crew handled lunch rush well and kept the food flowing! Good spot for an authentic, Chicago dog experience. read more

Ordered the Chicago dog and mini slider with bucket o fries. Everything was greasy and perfect for my hangover. I ordered on the eat24 app to my hotel I was staying at because I was way too hungover to walk anywhere. I'd give them a 5 start but they forgot my drink and the delivery guy was pretty rude. Besides that the food was awesome. Super reasonably priced. The slider was perfectly made, I should have ordered more of those. I spent like $9 on a dog, slider and a huge order of fries. read more

Can't believe this place. The best hot dog ever. We are tourist from CA. We tried Portillo's yesterday since it is known as a must-eat place in Chicago but their dog was just okay. This place the bomb and deserves to take over Portillo's throne! read more

I'm a fan. I had a Coney dog and the bf had a Chicago dog-both were good. We splurged (on calories not money because this place is CHEAP) and got milkshakes. I had a chocolate peanut butter and he had a banana. Both were very good. Inexpensive, good tasting food that's open late at night-score! read more

What a selection! Searing was a challenge during busy times but cleared out pretty quickly. Yum.

The wait time here is ridiculous. Considering it is supposed to be fast food, waiting over half an hour any time I come here for food is not acceptable. If it is at a time that is a little busier than usual, it's exceptionally bad and they cannot handle the volume at all. And you would think the wait would be worth it once the food was ready but it was really nothing special at all. read more

Our first Chicago dog and though nothing to compare to I have to say it was pretty tasty. We had two dogs, split an order of fries, and split a drink. More than enough for both of us ($10). read more

Food was very good. HOWEVER, the amount they charged me at the register and the amount that was submitted to my bank account differed. It was only $1.00, however, I find it a little fishy. Like, someone didn't think I would notice that the charge went through for a small amount more than what was supposed to go through. I'm working it out with my bank, but not sure I can go back here again --- Unless I pay with cash! ugh. read more

I was very disappointed when I ordered 2 burgers and an order of fries via delivery and the burgers were the size of SLIDERS. Really?! Very much a let down. read more

The tiny, greasy burgers here make white castle sliders look like something Martha Stewart shat out after a night of heavy binge drinking. I think my favorite part about the restaurant though is the painting of a cowgirl pointing her pistols at her tits. I can't decide if it's sexist or just poorly conceived. Either way it's provocative and that's why you go out to eat right? If not, you're doing it wrong. read more

Peanut butter chocolate milkshake and a Chicago style polish sausage. The fries looked great but it was late, so I abstained. Love the shake, but was a little disappointed that my bun didn't hold up to the liquid from the sauteed onions. For a hotdog joint, it's good read more

Maybe the service is better during the day but last night it was awful. The older guy couldn't even read the right ticket numbers, they lost orders and didnt care, and it took forever (a hot dog shouldn't take longer than a chicken sandwich) read more

Best burgers in town. Hell best place we've eaten all weekend. Had the breakfast double burger and a bucket of fries. Left full for the first time all weekend. And the flavor was fantastic. read more

The double original cheeseburger was delicious. But the size of it was closer to a slider than a normal burger, which was fine because it was filling and I'm sure calories were astronomical. I didn't like the onion rings much, even though the sauce they came with was good. The batter kept falling off them, and they were just too greasy to enjoy. I will be back to try a hot dog in the future. read more

Wow! Great little spot with good food and good service! I ordered the "taco dog" with fries and a coke and it was under 10 bucks. I thought it was a good deal until I received my order, took a look at the mountain of fries and had my first bite. I knew then that I had gotten an extravagant deal! Delicious spicy dog and crisp, fresh cut fries that were just right! I DEFINITELY will be back and I'll recommend Devil Dawgs to everyone looking for a good meal with appeal! read more

Had the Blue Demon Dawg which was excellent. Fast service, cult following restaurant. Will definitely come back.

Ordered delivery, which was very fast, less than half the quoted time. We had one forgotten item which was a disappointment but it happens. The dawgs were fine, but nothing special. The milkshakes however were FANTASTIC!! read more

I love love love Devil Dawgs. As someone who absolutely loves french fries, I can genuinely say Devil Dwags has some of the best fries I've ever eaten. They're just amazing. I promise: order the bucket of fries, load it up with salt, and you won't be disappointed! Beyond this, I was a bit worried since I don't eat hot dogs or burgers. But, much to my pleasant surprise, they offer chicken sandwiches on the menu as well. The "clucker" sandwich is PERFECT. Crispy, freshly fried chicken on a pretzel bun loaded with fresh cole slaw. It's my favorite sandwich now. If you haven't been to Devil Dawgs--it's a must try! The fries are excellent, the food is fresh, hot, and delicious, and everything on the menu is pretty cheap! read more

Waited 30+ minutes for one sandwich, that was very disappointing. The "Nashville Sammie" was not hot at all. The sauce was like store bought BBQ instead of hot sauce. Will not be going back. read more

Great late night spot to order food from after a night of drinks and hanging with your friends. I always get 2 Kick Ass Burgers. They are more like sliders really, then actual full size burgers which is why they are all $2.99 each. Trust me, get 2 of them or get 1 hot dog and a burger to fill you up. The food is always made fresh, so you may wait a little for your food, but you see it being made right in front of your eyes. The employees are always helpful, and i would recommend this spot to anyone. read more

Very low prices and high quality food. Chicago dog & burgers were delicious, but the French fries are what I would come back for.

I've stopped by here like once or twice before for a quick Chicago dog and shake, and it would be good service, good food. However, I went there a few days ago and had the worst experience with service and food. I decided to try something new and get a chicken sandwich. After 10 orders after me were called I asked where my order was, and it seemed like they forgot about my order. So I had to wait even longer. BUT WAIT THERES MORE. I brought my chicken sandwich home and HALF OF IT was cold. Like almost frozen cold. I was hungry and sad. In conclusion, just get their shakes. read more

Will have to come back for the hot dogs. Didn't have any but the Clucker Sandwich was really really good. The chicken was really good on it and the pickles and sauce were very good. read more

I loved the bacon cheddar dawg and cheese fries. The chocolate shake was good as well. I would eat here over and over.

This is the spot. Portillos is an experience, not to be missed, but this is the spot. Not much in the way of seating, so expect to get cozy or take your food down the street to the park. Good price, fast and yum! read more
