I had an old macbook that I wasn't able to turn on and needed to access the hard drive to pull some files off. Brought it in and they were able to remove the hard drive but for some reason it wasn't able to mount to their shop computer so they couldn't access any files. Data recovery was suggested by them which was $480 and could take up to 7 days to be successful, or might not even be successful. I decided to get a second opinion so I took the hard drive to another computer technician and he was able to not only mount the hard drive to his computer but was able to pull the files I needed and charged me only $75 for labor. I'm not sure if Deviceland was pulling a sales maneuver or what but something didn't sit right with me, especially since they are an Apple certified shop. Regardless, staff was friendly and very capable and I intend to return so I can get a new battery for me Macbook air. read more

I went in for help with boot camp (trying to install windows 10 for those programs aren't available on mac). I was skeptical that the workers at deviceland would help me at all because I spent multiple hours on the phone with the apple help desk and the windows help with both telling me that I was calling the wrong company because it is not their program/ operating system. Don and Sohail here helped me with my issue without just sending me away at the first mention of windows and even solved the issue! After I went to go pick up the computer Don even told me what was going wrong with the installation. This place is awesome! I scheduled through the Apple website to have my batteries replaced for $29 before the end of the year since my iPhone 6splus battery health is due for service and has 76% maximum capacity. I took Time off from work to come here and the first thing he said was there is a hairline crack on the screen and I included it in the picture for y all to see. Due to that they will not be able to replace the battery unless I get my screen replaced. He proceeded to tell me that it's Apple policy that they don't work on anything that has a crack for the suction cups that will pull the screen first will shatter the glass. I told him that another repair shop was willing to replace it for me but because of the special that Apple is running, I should try to do it there first to save me some money. I ended up in this place because of location and nothing else. Then he said because he cannot help me unless I replace the screen first which will cost me $194 first. I proceeded to cool off by going to my car. I called the first repair shop that referred me to Apple in order to help me save some money and they told me to come by right away. They replaced my phones battery with a new one in 10 minutes and did it in front of me with no suction cups. I paid $50 and received excellent service with a ton of explanation and included 1 year warranty as well. (Rapid Mobile Repair) owner James Chiang. Once you look at yelp you will know they are legit excellent at what they do. If you want to save yourself some frustration and not get skinned by this location ADM, just go directly to RMR. Apple is not in the business of repairing devices but selling so they subcontract these work to repair shops who try to up sell things and this location I imagine is one of the worst. By the way, while I was there another person was already getting mad and raising their voice by the way the other rep is treating them. I'm pretty sure the only ones that get a nice service here are the ones that have no clue they are getting taken in the first place. read more

As certified Apple specialists, Advanced Micro Systems finds a lot of referrals through Apple's online reservation system. My MacBook Air fan had been running uncharacteristically and my laptop was running slow, so I came in to see if there could be an quick fixes to my issues. Boy was I in for a rude awakening. This shop does not provide any on the spot assistance. The young lady who checked me in at the front desk did not appear to be a technician herself, but rather than connecting me to one, which I had a set appointment for, she proceeded to basically tell me I could not be helped without paying a $75 diagnostic fee. While I am no technical expert, I have had this same problem in the past and have taken my laptop in to the official Apple store. They are able to run quick diagnostic codes to help point to what may be wrong with your laptop, ie, checking if the fan is running high because of poor battery performance, or wiping clean the fan to see if it may be blocked by dust. I asked if they would be able to wipe my fan for me like they do at the store, and she sharply said no. The customer service was so horrible she didn't even say goodbye or thanks for coming in on my way out. I recommend avoiding this place unless you enjoy throwing money at your problems without considering simple fixes first or without the guarantee of the problems being fixed at all. read more

When you're dealing with malfunctioning electronics, it is so helpful to have amazing customer service like they have at Deviceland. I had a misunderstanding about the cost of a repair and Don (I believe was his name) handled it perfectly! For this reason, I give Deviceland 5/5 stars and two thumbs up. We need more people like Don and the other employees there that are kind, courteous, and professional. Thank you all for having great customer service! Just note: although they are a qualified Apple retailer to do repairs, their prices are not the same as Apple. Make sure you talk to them about prices and get a really clear idea of what is going on. Walked in to be greeted with a dismal "hello" from the front desk worker, who sat next to two other dismal looking male workers who blanks stared at me as I walked in. I proceeded to explain to her what was wrong with my laptop and she just said "um.... ok." And proceeds to tell me that it will cost $75 for their technicians to simply look at it and see what's wrong with it. ... $75 to tell me what's wrong with it & nothing more? Why would I waste my money doing that when I could go to the Apple store later in the week and have them do that for free? This is simply ridiculous. I came here because my MacBook Air had trouble resetting the password since an error kept popping up. I had tried calling apple support but they didn't know what was going on, and recommended resetting it losing all my work. Apple recommended that I take my I-Phone here for repairs because The Apple Store was too busy. The Deviceland representative told me on the phone that I needed an appointment, which I made; however when I showed up there were many people working but I was the only customer. Waste of time and would have been a big waste of money had I allowed them to do the repairs. They quoted an estimate of $280 for the repairs! I found another South Bay Mobile Repair store and they wound up repairing my phone for no charge due to a loose connection. I don't believe Deviceland would have been honest enough to tell me that it didn't need the repairs that they had quoted. I would not recommend bothering with these people! read more

The screen of my iPhone 11 was completely shattered and useable. All the Apple stores were closed due to COVID-19. I didn't know authorized dealers existed near me. I went on to Apple Support site to look for options for sending my phone in, which could take up to 2 weeks, instead, I found Deviceland! I called to make sure they were still open. They told me to bring the phone in at 11am which was when the technician comes in. There were some challenges with fixing the phone because the screen was unresponsive, however, they worked it through and fixed my phone in less time than they had promised. Karen was very helpful and courteous. They charged me just my deductible with Apple Care. I would recommend this place to everyone in the Southbay. read more

Found these guys through Apple Care when I started having computer issues due to a virus. Ironically, the next day my screen got smashed and I urgently needed service. It's a little hard to navigate the phone system at first but literally just walk in. Super kind, patience and helpful customer service. My computer screen was fixed in less than 48 hours (a day earlier than they quoted) and the virus was wiped. The tech patiently sat with me while I checked off all my other issues had been addressed. This place has HORRIBLE customer service. I felt so dumb talking to the man who didn't even care about the issues that I was having. Without even taking a look at my MacBook Air he just said $75 for the diagnostic test. And I was so dissatisfied that I just left. NOT A PLACE TO GO IF YOU HAVE A REPAIR ISSUE! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. This store was also under construction when I went and they really should invest in some signs that say that the store is actually located there!!!! I stopped by to get my battery replaced for my iPhone because the battery health shows "service". Long story short, they took my phone and told me to come back in a couple hours. When I came back, they said that it was NOT a battery issue then asked if I want to replace the whole phone for ~$379. I left and went to another iPhone repair shop and told them the situation. They confirmed that it was a battery issue and replaced for $40. As you could see, this place clearly wants to scam people to maximize revenue. Either that or they're completely incompetent. Wow - I'm a believer now. Have been driving past Deviceland ever since they were Advanced Micro Devices over by the Galleria but never went in despite the Authorized Apple Service Provider signage. After my internal Fusion Drive on my iMac went bad, I had another Apple repair place replace it, but for some reason the OS Mojave that was then re-installed caused a problem where the iMac could not connect to Apple's iCloud servers. This place tried everything they could to resolve the iCloud issue but could not, and I required Mojave to be maintained on it rather than upgrade to the current OS. So I decided to take it to DeviceLand since they were an authorized service provider and Apple would not assist me because the OS was no longer supported. Bam! They reinstalled Mojave in such an official way that that iCloud server problem disappeared, and man am I happy about that! Thank You DeviceLand! I will certainly take more of my Apple business to you from now on. And I recommend others with difficult issues try them as well. Kudos! read more

I called Apple and they suggested Deviceland as a certified Apple repair shop for my MacBook. Deviceland quoted $99 to run a diagnostic test on my MacBook, before any repairs could be done. I told the Deviceland employee that the Apple Store does not charge a diagnostic fee, but she replied that the fee is specific to their store. I got my battery replaced a couple of weeks ago and all is well. My phone is not dying the moment I take it off the charger! My low rating is due to a comment the guys that were helping me made that has made me paranoid as of late. They were asking for my passcode and I said they don't need it as I was going to turn it off, one guy said under his breath "what about your bank account information" and they both laughed. I really didn't think anything of it at the time as I thought they meant verbally....however I was giving them my phone for two hours that has all kinds of apps including my banks. They couldn't login without the passwords but after I got my phone back I started to think a keylogger or something could have been downloaded without my knowledge. I am not tech savvy but I have not logged into any apps since then. I am bothered by this, so far nothing odd has happened but this situation has made me not want to use my phone. read more

I should have read through the terrible reviews for this place before I brought my Macbook in but I figured they would do honest work. I was wrong. I brought in my 2016 Macbook Pro because my screen was not working. When it is plugged into a tv through an HDMI cord, it projects on the TV just fine and I can use it, therefore I just figured some wiring was loose and needed to be quickly adjusted. When I brought it in, it was out of battery so it wouldn't turn on. Macbooks take a little while to power up again when they're out of battery and the man in there didn't have the patience so he unplugged it and said that the repair man would diagnose it and give me a call. They said the diagnosis fee is $99 if we choose not to go through with the repair and I was fine with that thinking that they would do a full diagnosis. The following day, I received a phone call saying that the problem is that my motherboard needed to be replaced and the repair would cost $600. I told them I would call them back because I was working and then was traveling so I didn't get to it right away. Then I talked to my husband who told me that it can't be my motherboard if it works on the tv and I realized it didn't make any sense. Then I looked on the receipt and it says "computer will not turn on" which was false. I told him it would turn on when its charged enough. My husband called to inquire about the fee and disagreement about the diagnosis and was told that since I signed the paper, I would have to pay the $99 even if I don't agree with the diagnosis. Now I have to pay for an incorrect diagnosis which pretty much means that I'm paying them for absolutely zero reason. This is a scam! Stay away from this place and go directly to Apple. They might charge you a lot, but at least you know they're not lying and cheating you! read more

The trackpad and keyboard stopped working all of a sudden on my MacBookPro. I checked around a few places and these guys got good reviews. So I swung by and dropped it off. They ran a diagnostic on it and said that they determined this that and the other needed to be done on it and that the parts alone would be close to 800 bucks. But, that apple offers this program where they can mail it in and have it fixed for like 545 bucks or something along those lines. They said it was cheaper to exercise that option and asked for my approval to send it off. I said ok sounds great do it. They said ok, 3-5 days. (This was on a Thursday). On Monday I called to check in and the guy that answered said my computer was back, and it turned out to be a way cheaper fix and was only 295 bucks. I was like what the heck. How honest is that? These guys had me on the hook for 3-5 days and over 500 bucks and had it back super fast at a fraction of the price. Honestly, this dude could have made up a complete story and told me it's done and it was 545 bucks and I would have never known. I could give two flips about computers and don't know a ton about what makes them work, I just needed this thing back so I could get to work. I'm impressed with their honesty and speed. I'll be back for any repairs in the future and to buy my next mac. read more

He is incredibly knowledgeable and can speak in a language that's easy to understand. He always tries to save me money by giving me options and making sure I fully understand the situation. This is the second time I take my computer here for repair and the experience this time was even better than the first. They ordered a new part and replaced it within 24 hours. They have the same system to diagnose computers as Apple, so it's pretty much the same as if you took your computer to an Apple store for repair but without the lines and wait. The staff is very friendly, specially Don (the gentleman who fixes most computers) who is knowledgeable and shows that he really cares about the customers. I highly recommend this place! read more

Save your money!!!! I had a very old Macbook that crashed. I could not turn it on after trying everything I could find on the internet. I took my laptop to Deviceland as I had seen the store driving by several times. They specialize in Macs so it seemed very promising to get my computer either working or retrieve my data to which I had SPECIFICALLY told them needed to be able to be transferred to a Windows PC not another Mac. I was told that if the backup was easy it would be around $250 and if it was difficult to retrieve it was close to $500. I was called the same day and told that they were able to recover the hard drive. Great news I thought. Come to find out they had literally just taken out the hard drive, put it in an enclosure device. The guy that helped me plugged it into his Mac to show me all my files and I asked again if it would work on a PC and he said yes. Well.....not true. A Mac hard drive is not formatted to be read on a Windows PC so the enclosure was rendered useless for me. I called them back the next day and explained the situation and all I was told was they did not have the tools to format the drive correctly. So pretty much I could just have taken my laptop elsewhere to have it backed up. No need for me to have a hard drive in an enclosure if it's not going to work. Do your research first. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Let me say that I did not have a repair done here. I am rating this place based on the service that I received. So, I see the one review and then I call them mid-week. They say that they can fix my iPod. I then see that they are open on the weekend. So, I call them on Saturday right after they were opened. I asked to confirm that they can take my iPod. They say, sure come on down. When I get there, I'm a little reluctant to leave my iPod because the guy there looks like a thug and the woman looks a bit clueless. So, I ask them if they do iPod repair. They don't even answer the question. They just say that I have to come back during the week. I'm thinking that I drove all of this way after I spoke with them and now they can't even answer my question and tell me to come back during the week? What kind of customer service is that? This place is HORRIBLE. After that, I cannot trust them. There is another vendor in Los Angeles called "iPod Repair Clinic". They have high ratings and by more than just one person. It's 3.5 stars. I dropped my iphone and they fixed the shattered glass in about 90 minutes ($50 for labor fee and $50 for glass=$109). But after they fixed it, I realized my iphone have no internet connection! I had the internet connection with my shattered glass before so they had to open my iphone again to fix another problem. I think their service is ok but if you have shattered glass on your iphone and fix it at the the store, make sure your fixed-iphone works or or not before leave the store. Turned working iPad into a brick - wish I could give them zero stars. I had used Advanced Micro previously for some Mac repairs and was generally pleased with their service. I recently brought in an iPad with a hairline crack in the screen for glass replacement (AMS offered a flat price for this kind of repair). The crack had occurred almost a year before I had brought it in for repair and had worked perfectly for all of that time. When my wife went back to pick it up, they said it wasn't ready because a portion of the screen wasn't responsive to touches. They said they would try to repair again with a new part. This whole process was repeated for a couple of few weeks (try a new part, didn't work) until finally they said that they couldn't repair it. The iPad now was completely broken (a "brick"). They said they would put my original screen back in and return it. And so I walked in with a fully working iPad and left with a completely broken iPad (now with a fully shattered screen). What irritates me is their response to this whole situation. At one point, they accused me of lying about the previously working condition of the iPad. They offered me absolutely nothing except the return of a now-unusable device. A more customer-oriented operation would have at least had some conversation on "how can we make this right". But instead it was, "Here is your now-broken iPad". I understand and accept the fact that repairs may not always go according to plan. But to refuse to make even a token gesture in the interests of customer service astounds me. I will never use them again and recommend that others avoid them, or the the risk of having a $600 iPad turned into something worthless. read more
