I explained what I wanted and they provided a rough estimate of the cost that depended on how damaged the old drive was. They would look at the drive to see what the issue was and call me within 3 days. I got the call and luckily the old drive was still accessible so they would be able to transfer the files to the new drive. The cost was less that I expected. I had checked several businesses in the Los Angeles/Orange area and there services were a couple of hundred dollars more for basic data recovery. The new drive has the files and I am glad I found Westcoast. They also repair computers and mobile phones.

This place is a lifesaver!!! My old iPhone 3G died during a failed attempt to synch with iTunes. The phone wouldn't turn on, and the prognosis from the kids at the Apple store's "Genius Bar" was grim. Not only would the phone not turn on, but it wasn't even recognized by the in-store "diagnostic" (whatever the hell that is). They said they see this sort of thing all the time, and 99 times out of 100 it's impossible or way too costly to recover the data. This was really unwelcome news given that I had photos, contacts and other stuff on the phone that hadn't been backed up. The only ray of hope I got at the Apple store was a list of local Apple product repair shops. It was Sunday, and I figured noting would get resolved until after the weekend. Nonetheless, I decided to try calling Advanced Micro Systems (the closest repair shop on the list), and the person I spoke with said to go ahead and bring the phone in. When I arrived, the young woman at the store said the technician wasn't in, but Ray (the owner) would be happy to examine my phone. While Ray didn't make any promises, he was very determined to do whatever he could. He began by disassembling my iPhone (something the so-called "experts" at Apple said was very complex and very costly -- but it was no sweat for Ray). After tinkering around for about 10 minutes, Ray put the phone back together and plugged it into a power source. To my amazement, the phone turned on with all the data in-tact. I would have paid a lot for this glorious outcome, but Ray charged me next to nothing. I'm sold on this place -- not just for service but for purchasing any Apple product. Thanks Ray! read more

I have had occasion to go to Deviceland to purchase a MacBook Air and for issues with my MacBook Air, my iWatch and yesterday just an annoyance with my ICloud account. At these different visits, I have spoken to just about everyone in the store. It is so convenient and everyone is so helpful and pleasant. My MacBook Air touchppad was repaired - as promised - under warranty. My iWatch charger had failed. Unfortunately, I needed to replace it; but only after Tasif (sp) tested my charger and the store's charger in several ways. And just yesterday I went in for some help because I could not get my Calendar to sync from my iPhone to my MacBook Air. I spent quite some time following online directions; but couldn't make it sync. Mohammed would not give up till he figured out that I was using "Calendar"; but that there was more than one "Calendar" and I was trying to sync to the wrong one. It was a small aggravation; but one that was driving me crazy. I left there very happy! Don't hesitate going there rather than the somewhat unpleasant experience at the Mac Store in MB. read more

This place is great! I came here after I recently was given an iPad 2 as a gift for my birthday. I had no clue how to use the darn thing at all. I tried going down to Manhattan Beach Village Apple Store, to see if someone can help me work it. Well, I couldn't even get my foot in, because it was soo crowded and when I did finally talked to someone, they told me I had to pay for a class and some type of fee. And I didn't want that I just wanted someone just to tell me the basic. I came down here, since it was close to where I live to see if they can help me, and they were great! I spoke with a gentlemen name Ray who sat down right next to me, and gave me a one on one tutorial about my iPad. He was the owner of the store, and he took 2 hrs of his day just to help me, I was impressed. I was impressed with the techs as well they reassured me that if anything happens with my iPad they can fix it right up. As for customer service A+! During my lunch break, I decided to go shopping for aux cable. This store is right next to my work. I was hoping for a quick trip. I walk in and was able to locate the cable in about a min but invoice took 20 mins. The lady that was helping me decides to take her personal call while making the invoice. She passes the invoice to this old guy. This old guy is not in mood to make the invoice. So, he decides to call this young girl. Who finally finishes my invoice. Had an excellent experience at Deviceland today! I came in looking for an SSD upgrade for my older MacBook Pro, and the staff member who helped me was incredibly knowledgeable. Not only did he help me find exactly the right SSD for my specific model, but he took the time to explain things I didn't know about the upgrade process. It's rare to find someone who's both well-informed and willing to educate customers rather than just make a quick sale. Really appreciated the patient, helpful service. I came to this store to get a service done on my iMac. Luckily, I talked to an Apple Certified technician who is very knowledgeable compared to the other Authorized service center, MacMall who hires employees that know NOTHING but to pretend. They have bunch of damn staff there. For short, I was able to pick up my iMac the following day with full explanation on how and why my iMac went wrong. What a great service experienced I had with this store. I highly recommend this place to all Apple users who need service/repair. read more

after got my keyboard fixed, they didn't nail in the bottom cover, and then the bottom cover was opened with no expectations. Unfortunately, there was water on my table, of course my MacBook died, I have to paid everything to fixed it. Forgot to take photos before I sent it to another service provider. Already paid $95 to get it check, waiting for the additional cost. Why I go to another provider because they told me I have make an appointment and the earliest date won't happen till a week later. Great service! My PowerBook Pro was out of warranty, so Apple recommended that I call Advanced Micro Systems. I'm glad I did! They helped diagnose a keyboard problem while we were on the on the phone, then suggested that I bring it in to fix the problem. Once in the shop, they confirmed the problem, had the parts on hand, and fixed it in less than 5 minutes. Wow! I wish all vendors were as helpful and customer-focused. I have dealt with AMS for years. First, before there was an Apple Store available--and since, because they deal with out-of-date Apple products and their repair services are totally reliable and fast. They've recovered data from trashed hard drives, replaced components (coffee spill) and ordered-up a power supply for a 10-year-old monitor. These guys are great--plus they sell new Apple stuff and accessories as well. read more

I just went there ask if they could sell me a battery for my Mac they said yes and then told me they would run a test to make sure it was my battery I ask how much would it cost they said no charge I said great do it. Easy right? No. Connecting to iTunes did nothing. I tried to back up my data. Couldn't do it. I even tried to just restore to factory settings but that didn't work either. I found Just Tech Solutions on Yelp and took my iPad over. Despite a few snafus in the beginning that were uncontrollable, Fred went above and beyond (the guy came in right before he left for vacation) to make sure my concern was checked and the issue would be taken care of. Jerry fixed my iPad and was diligent in calling me throughout the day to check in passwords, etc. Service was great and quick and it's a plus they are local.
