The menu lacked standard beverage options like coffee and tea, and basic chips were not part of our meal. Additionally, the single taco I ordered was very greasy and overpriced at $16, and no rise or beans, and the horchata was $8. Paying $26 for this meal did not reflect the quality or value expected. Very disappointing experience. The food was extremely disappointing, especially considering how expensive it was. A lot of the meat was burnt/overcooked, to the point where it was difficult to enjoy or even eat. The photos really speak for themselves. On top of the poor food quality, we waited about 45 minutes for our food. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality and service. I don't mind paying more for a good meal, but when you're paying a premium and end up waiting 45 minutes for burnt meat, it's simply not worth it. Paid $6 for a can of cocacola and never got the cup with ice I ask for to pour it in.. Very disappointed and unfortunately I would not recommend this restaurant. First thing's first: this food is AMAZING! I walked in with my family and we were sat immediately and brought menus. We were given a few minutes and ordered our drinks and chips and guacamole. They arrived within 5 minutes and we started ordering our food, which arrived within 10 minutes. I ordered two desvelados tacos. I came here with a friend tonight as she found this place online and thought and thought they did a daily happy hour. When we arrived, we were bummed to learn that only the Santa Monica location has a happy hour. Since we were famished from a hike at Griffith Park, we took a look at their menu to see what they had and figure out if it was worth staying. I didn't see any vegan options on the menu but my friend asked the employee and she said the vegetarian tacos were in fact vegan and dairy-free. She told me I could choose a veggie for it. I asked which one she recommended and she said the potatoes. My friend and I opted to sit outside on their sidewalk seating as the weather was nice and warm. The tables and chairs were pretty comfy. I loved the cute decor they had both inside and outside and it was all such a great vibe. The seating inside actually seemed more plush and comfortable but the AC felt a bit too much for me. The food came out quickly and the staff were great about bringing salsas and waters to our table. I really loved the potatoes taco I got and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and perfectly spiced and seasoned. The salsas were pretty mild and really enhanced the flavors of the dish. I regret not ordering another taco, as it was very hearty and delicious! Came here tonight to enjoy company with some friends and watch the USA vs Turkey match. I had come here once before and I loved the food so much that I happened to remember this place today. Our table got the carne asada guac and the El Costeño burrito and both were phenomenal! The food, when it first came out, looked a bit dainty; we all thought it wouldn't be enough food. I know I've written about this place before, but since we live close and often crave Mexican food, I gave it a few more chances. At one point, it became a solid weekly spot for me because the food was genuinely good. The service is still a hit or miss. Ordering by phone is still a struggle, hard to get a hold of them and communication is poor.. but in person, the staff are usually very nice. We were regulars, coming almost every week on lazy nights we didn't want to cook. I understand paying extra for sauces and sour cream, but sometimes the portions are laughably tiny. If I'm paying 50 cents, I'd like more than a squirt. Our go-to orders were the nachos, tacos, and the Godzilla carne asada quesadilla. I loved that quesadilla.. it was huge and usually enough for two meals. But the last time I went, it was so thin it felt like I spent $17-$18 on mostly cheese and tortilla with a sprinkle of meat. I can also tell you to look at photos from other yelpers and you can tell the difference from what i was served. That was a clear sign to stop coming.
