Came here tonight to enjoy company with some friends and watch the USA vs Turkey match. I had come here once before and I loved the food so much that I happened to remember this place today. Our table got the carne asada guac and the El Costeño burrito and both were phenomenal! The food, when it first came out, looked a bit dainty; we all thought it wouldn't be enough food. After we ate it, however, we were actually quite full, and we are all big eaters. Maria was awesome! She kept checking in on us and was extremely friendly. The bathroom was also nice and clean. Love that they have an outdoor seating so we can bring our dog. Their agua Fresca is delicious! Food takes a little longer to make but they're super fresh and tasty. Servings are pretty big too! I came here with a friend tonight as she found this place online and thought and thought they did a daily happy hour. When we arrived, we were bummed to learn that only the Santa Monica location has a happy hour. Since we were famished from a hike at Griffith Park, we took a look at their menu to see what they had and figure out if it was worth staying. I didn't see any vegan options on the menu but my friend asked the employee and she said the vegetarian tacos were in fact vegan and dairy-free. She told me I could choose a veggie for it. I asked which one she recommended and she said the potatoes. My friend and I opted to sit outside on their sidewalk seating as the weather was nice and warm. The tables and chairs were pretty comfy. I loved the cute decor they had both inside and outside and it was all such a great vibe. The seating inside actually seemed more plush and comfortable but the AC felt a bit too much for me. The food came out quickly and the staff were great about bringing salsas and waters to our table. I really loved the potatoes taco I got and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and perfectly spiced and seasoned. The salsas were pretty mild and really enhanced the flavors of the dish. I regret not ordering another taco, as it was very hearty and delicious! Parking was very easy and plentiful on the street. read more

I know I've written about this place before, but since we live close and often crave Mexican food, I gave it a few more chances. At one point, it became a solid weekly spot for me because the food was genuinely good. The service is still a hit or miss. Ordering by phone is still a struggle, hard to get a hold of them and communication is poor.. but in person, the staff are usually very nice. We were regulars, coming almost every week on lazy nights we didn't want to cook. I understand paying extra for sauces and sour cream, but sometimes the portions are laughably tiny. If I'm paying 50 cents, I'd like more than a squirt. Our go-to orders were the nachos, tacos, and the Godzilla carne asada quesadilla. I loved that quesadilla.. it was huge and usually enough for two meals. But the last time I went, it was so thin it felt like I spent $17-$18 on mostly cheese and tortilla with a sprinkle of meat. I can also tell you to look at photos from other yelpers and you can tell the difference from what i was served. That was a clear sign to stop coming. The décor is nice and fun, but honestly, the food and service aren't worth it for us anymore. read more

I'm conflicted writing this, because the food is good, the main server Maria is very kind, and we have a lot of family memories here. Living in the neighborhood, we've been coming here for years, and it consistently has the slowest service time of any restaurant we go to. Typically, there is one chef in the kitchen and one server; for a restaurant full of people, it just isn't enough. With wait times of over an hour for tacos (or even chips and guac), it's become really difficult to do dinners here with our young kids. An increase in staff would be a game changer. read more

My first review was scathing, but the owner reached out to me and made it right. The second time around, I ordered a horchata, and their version of a surf and turf burrito. Horchata is definitely my favorite Latin American drink. It's a creamy, sweet rice-based drink with cinnamon and vanilla. It almost taste like tapioca minus the curdles/bubbles. The horchata here was outstanding. It had a much richer taste than what I'm accustomed too, and probably was the best one I have ever tasted. The surf and turf burrito was decent. And although it's not the best, it will do. This time the asada and the shrimp were properly cooked. And the tortilla shell was grilled perfectly. Tastewise, it was good. And I can tell immediately that we were gonna vibe because the contents had a very rich colorful hue, as opposed to before. Yet another excellent food choice in Glendale! We arrived to Desvelados pretty hungry - actually, starving. HUGE taco menu, and each massive taco is packed full with all types of options. Lots of choices for protein here: your classic meats, plus fish and shrimp, and vegetarian options. Staff were friendly and food came out relatively fast. Tortillas are thick and substantial and part of the experience themselves. We came here twice in two months - consistently solid and a pleasant experience. There is indoor and outdoor seating with a mildly enchanting atmosphere for both. Parking can be limited here on Kenneth road. Careful of people driving 45-60mph+ on this tiny residential street :/ One star docked because apparently none of the cocktails - despite in the description as containing spirits (vodka, etc) - contain anything more than agave wine. I wanted a pretty stiff drink at the end of the week and was a little flustered at the false advertising in the menu; this should be changed. read more

I'm sure it's especially nice in the summer when you can sit outside, but even dining inside has always been comfortable and easy. I usually grab a few protein tacos, and the carne asada is a favorite.
