Went for happy hour today for the soccer game Argentina vs Cape Verde. Thought it would be packed however there was plenty of tables available. The food and cocktails were good however the service was another thing, even though it was not crowded we had to keep flagging the server down, she never became to ask us if we needed anything she was just standing at the bar talking to the bartender. Terrible services ! This was our 1st at the San Fernando, I had heard really good things however i was sadly disappointed. We were here on Tuesday afternoon and it was not busy at all. It was the tail end of happy hour so we got our food and drink orders in before that ended. The old fashioned was good as was their twist on the spritz. I loved the fried pickles (also from the happy hour menu). The server was great. I feel so lucky to leave in the neighborhood of The San Fernando. It is a great local place, with a very large patio, a menu with small bites/plates and great cocktails. The team is also professional, kind and friendly. They have some special nights with DJs, or currently showing the world cup on big screens. The atmosphere is relaxed and chill. Thanks to the outdoor patio, I am also able to go there with kids in tow. They also are ok with dogs. You cannot find many places like that in LA. The San Fernando is my favorite bar in the area by far, when I need a place to go where my friends and I can enjoy some good drinks and good food without any trouble we go here. The inside is a cozy, but classy, lil' space with train-themed accents. Meanwhile, the real magic for me has always been the back patio. Beautifully lit deck space with enough coverage to beat the elements and enjoy some casual conversation with your drinking buddies. Bring a crowd or bring a date. (They've always generously hosted bigger groups and I can't thank them enough for it) The owner and the team are kind, cool, and easy going and if you need a drink recommendation I'm hooked on the Mezcal Oxacan (At one point, I think there was a DJ on Friday nights in the back, but I haven't seen them in awhile and I personally prefer that - the space doesn't really need it!) read more

Food was the most mediocre food I have had in a while we ordered the wings which on the menu says come with 6 wings celery, carrots, radish and ranch. A chicken pesto sandwich and the "spicy" guacamole. First when we came in nobody came to us with a menu till ten minutes into us sitting down and then we got three drink menus and one food menu. When we decided what we wanted another 10 minutes passed till someone came to see what we wanted. We ordered and go our drinks 20 minutes passes and we get our "spicy" guacamole and wings. (When ordering our wings we asked if the radish could be replaced by carrots the server said sure). When the wings were brought to us there was exactly 2, 2" celery sticks and 3,2" carrot sticks (I guess the radish just got replaced with one carrot and on top of that for 15$ we got 4 wings and not 6. Then onto the guacamole... not spicy not salty not good not bad it was mashed avocado with huge chunks of onion and two tiny proceeding of tomatoes. Came here with some friends to watch the quarter finals of the World Cup. They had one bartender on an already presumably busy day. Good food/okay drinks. What felt weird/disrespectful is that one of the servers asked us to leave during the last 20 mins of the game for a party coming. This is a superb example of a certain kind of place that manages a decent menu with an excellent neighborhood dive-bar feel. Not quite fancy or expensive enough to earn the moniker of "Gastropub", their menu is definitely elevated compared to most bars, and their outdoor patio is suitable for large groups. We were on the patio for a weekend birthday party while another party was going on and there was no problem with space. Service was great and they handled multiple bills without issue. Indoors, regulars gathered at the bar and seem to be having a great time. Pours were generous and prices were reasonable. It was also kind of fun to hear a train go by once in a while. Big fan of this hidden gem! We came across it looking for a spot to watch the World Series game and had a great time. The ambiance is laid back with TVs playing sports, but upscale from your typical sports bar with quality cocktails. The San Fernando now has a monthly drag bingo event, which is a godsend for a Glendale starved for LGBT+ events. Because I visited on a Wednesday, the Buffalo wings were a good deal, at $1 each. It was my birthday yesterday, and my boyfriend and I were exploring Glendale and the Glendale Galleria. On our way to the mall, we passed The San Fernando and decided to check it out for dinner and some drinks to end the day. When we got there we thought the outside patio looked fun, but it was very cold so we sat inside. We sat at the bar, and the bartender Sean helped us throughout the night. It was very relaxed, warm, and good energy. I had a couple glasses of their house Chardonnay. You can never go wrong, crisp and easy to drink. My boyfriend enjoyed their cocktails, a couple old fashioned and a whiskey sour. If my boyfriend wanted a slight change to his drink, Sean knew exactly what he wanted. The food was amazing. I got the steak frites, my boyfriend got the burger, and my steak came with plenty of fries so we shared those. The chimichurri sauce was so delicious my boyfriend put it on his burger. It was so much fun chatting with Sean and some of the others at the bar. Everyone there seemed to know Sean and asked when he was working next. He was very knowledgeable about the liquors and wines that we were drinking. Everything was very enjoyable and comfortable. I've already recommended this place to a couple of my friends who just moved to Glendale. I wish I took more photos, but I guess I was just having too much fun. read more

This is the spot for happy hour in Glendale! My friends and I came here on a Tuesday to enjoy their Margarita special advertised on Instagram. Margaritas $5 all night long with live music. Parking was easy to find on the nearby side street. They have a beautiful patio area where the music was playing with lights. The margaritas were so good. We also got some happy hour food which was $9. My favorite was the sliders and they offer a plant-based version too to those who prefer that. We also got hot wings and the white bean hummus. I've had the worst experience at this POS establishment last night. On November 19 I made a reservation for 10 people. It was an important event where people were traveling 2 hours to get there. I went to the restaurant last night to check in. One of the female employees had no idea I had a reservation. I said I have a reservation for 10 people. She wanted proof. So I showed her the confirmation from the night prior. And then she wanted to know when I made the reservation. Why does that matter I asked. Because this is open tables fault she said. Ok..so what does that have to do with me? So the rude female employee goes and checks her computer and she confirmed I made a reservation for 10 people. She said there was no space. She said we don't look at the reservation schedule until the day of. Ok...so again why is this my problem? And she looked around and said all these people have reservations. I said I do too. And she's looking at me like I'm being unreasonable. She said there was no space in the outside patio bc there's going to be a private party but we can sit there until they arrive. Which gave us an hour or so and we had to leave. I told her that's unacceptable. I have a reservation just like everyone else. Why are you putting a time limit only on my reservation? The rude female employee went to speak with her male supervisor and he starts yelling at me like I did something wrong. The rude woman even shrugged her shoulders and said you might have to just find somewhere else to go. Mind you I have a reservation! Anyways so we sit outside in the patio in the corner and the private party didn't even notice we were there and everyone had a great time. No time limit needed. Duh. It is baffling that this unintelligent staff could not solve this very simple problem and instead blamed me for being upset about their incompetence. If they're relying on a third party booking system such as open table and then only looking at their reservations on the day of, then obviously this is a bad protocol. Yet I was the bad guy for being upset at the situation. I will never come here again. It's obvious that this unintelligent staff took their stress out on me. Imbeciles!! As a side note, there was a long piece of hair in our salad. They probably did that on purpose. Oh and they even had to gall to give themselves an automatic 20% tip on my bill. Stopped by the San Fernando Bar after a visit to Griffith Park and was very pleasantly surprised. The decor is stylish without being over the top, and the space was clean and inviting. They also have a covered outdoor patio, which is always a plus. We came during happy hour, and I have to say it was probably the best happy hour margarita I've ever had. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and vey refreshing. Our bartender showed care skill in preparing our drinks and was very friendly. We ordered the guacamole and empanadas. The guacamole was good with some spice, the way it's supposed to be. Hate when it has none. The empanadas were excellent. They could compete with any I've had in LA. Perfectly crisp, flavorful, and served with a chimichurri that brought it all together. It's definitely a spot I'll go back to and recommend to anyone in the area. Loved it! Went for a little dinner before stopping for some roller-skating just down the road! The food was ridiculously good. We had the wings to start, juicy, meaty, crispy and sauced perfectly! I had the grilled cheese with tomato soup and hubby had the fish and chips. They take "bar food" to a whole other level.
