I have problematic eyes - one nearsighted and the other one farsighted, so finding the right balance has never been easy. Also so was finding a place that would accept my "poor" employer provided eye insurance. Want to report back that I was seen on time, without any delays. On top of that my insurance was accepted, which didn't help a whole lot, but nevertheless, I got a little break for which I am very thankful. The stuff was very courteous, they took time explaining me all the details of my new progressive lenses (This was the first time I've got progressive lenses, so I am still work-in-progress, as I am trying to get used to the new glasses and work out the angle that works best for me in different situations). Artyom, who helped me choose the lenses and also worked with the insurance company is the epitome of patience, as the insurance didn't really want to cooperate, which was far from surprising to me. However he knew his way around and managed to conquer all the obstacles with a help of another lady who works there. They both are very friendly and helped me quite a bit getting it all done before my vacation. Glancing at the previous reviews, I want to say that they have a selection of American brands for both genders at suggested retail prices, which is typical for the stores. Also if you are concerned that your insurance may not cover your eye exam, you can call them and confirm before making an appointment with the optometrist. They are open late in the evenings and also on Saturdays to accommodate any busy bees. And if you are looking for a decent optometrist and friendly and knowledgeable stuff, you should give this place a try, as you may be pleasantly surprised.

I came in and immediately the person at the counter said something like sorry, we no longer carry that brand. Not understanding why that should be my problem, I asked to speak to the manager. He was pretty rude & said there was nothing that could be done about the paint and then acted like he would do me a big favor - rather than standing by his product - by replacing the lens, while trying to make me feel like this was my fault. He expalained that he had the same brand glasses and multiple children who were regularly grabbing them off his face, yet he never had a problem with these glasses. I only found out because I went in to visit them after months because I never got a call regarding the order. The trials started irritating my eyes, so I didn't bother about ordering the trial brand of contacts. I told them about the irritation of the trials and they gave me two new pairs of trials. The trial pair that I wanted from the new set couldn't be ordered till I spoke to this one doctor who apparently only works Friday. I called for about 3 weeks trying to get these contacts and there was always an issue - she stepped out, she'll call you back, etc. Finally, I spoke to one person who was able to get the contact trials ordered - cause they didn't have any of that pair on hand, and I was forwarded to the front to order the months supply. Upon trying to place the order, they told me that my benefit was used up for the year on contacts. The contacts I asked them to order after my eye exam, they never ordered them, and I told them the trials were irritating my eyes. So I got a shitty pair of trials, the never ordered my initial monthly supply and I didn't know for months, got new trials after I found out, tried to order the new trial pair monthly supply, and was told that my benefit was used to buy the shitty contacts that I never received - like what?!

I called to make an appointment so I could have my eyes checked, and they were so gracious on the telephone. I even got an appointment for the next day. When I went into the shop, it was so clean and tidy, and I didn't get a feeling of being rushed, unlike that mall shop. The doctor was really nice, and spend a ton of time trying making sure i had the right prescription. (I have an astigmatism so it can be tricky to get the settings just right). Ordering new glasses was a breeze. Optica Brasil has a wide selection of different styles and frames, all from different manufacturers! Plus many good looking frames were AFFORDABLE. I actually saved enough money that I was able to buy a pair of prescription sunglasses too! Carolina made the entire process so easy, and she was so friendly and personable. She definitely made me want to come back! And I definitely will.
