They sold me two pairs of glasses with the wrong prescription when I tried them on in the store. It was worse than the ones I previously own, they said you'll get used to them and basically push me out. The door went to a different eye doctor the same day and verified. Yes they did give me the wrong prescription. they refused to give me my money back, saying it was their policy and said that give you another eye exam which who would have any trust in this establishment after they messed up. This place is more negligence than I haven't seen in my life. They don't care about their clients I should've known something was up the day. I got my eye exam. I walked in to get glasses for my grandmother (with a prescription from another place) and Eddie Hornedo (manager/optician) was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING with his customer service. From the minute we walked in, he provided above and beyond customer service to my grandmother and took his time helping her choose a frame that she was totally satisfied with. My grandma is a hard to please woman and she left there very pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service we received. Also, her glasses were ready 3 days later! I have always rated this business highly nd recommended it to others. The prices are high but the level of service and care was very good. Also, they stood behind there product in the case of bent frames and damage, often repairing without a charge. Something has changed. I think the ownership of this shop has changed. With the exception of the eye doctor, it seems everyone else is new. The high level of service left with the former employees/owner. I have 2 examples: Yesterday, my wife called to get a copy of her prescription so she could buy a new pair of glasses. After getting the runaround, they were not willing to provide a copy for a prescription that was (literally) a few days expired without a new eye exam. Just today, I went for my annual eye exam, having made the appointment a year ago. I was sent several emails asking me to confirm the appointment. Due to a bug with their email, I wasn't able to confirm, only change the appointment. After a few attempts, I called a week ago to confirm the appointment. I spoke to a woman who confirmed the appointment. Well, guess what. I didn't have an appointment because I never confirmed it (according to the dude at the counter). When I pleaded my case, it was as if the counter dude didn't believe that I called. He said he will try to squeeze me in but I will have to wait. I was tossed a clipboard to fill out with no apology. I tossed it back and said, "I'm all set, I'll go somewhere else." Still no apology. I let counter dude know that he just lost 2 longtime customers, my wife yesterday and me today. He couldn't have cared any less. Either find another Pearle or go back to an independent shop, like Parkway Optical in Revere. MUCH better service that you deserve. read more

I ordered contacts from this location. they told me it would be 7-10 days. I did not receive my contacts for almost 6 weeks. every week that I called I was told a different day they would arrive, only to be told on that day that they were not there and it could take up to 2 months. the trial pair of contacts that they gave me were horrendous. I could not read signs or drive safely. they also gave me severe migraines if I wore for more than an hour. I called corporate to complain and told them I desperately needed my contacts for a vacation. never heard from corporate and this seriously impacted my vacation. I will never go back to this location or frankly Pearle Vision ever again. read more

I used to go to another optical place but every time I went, I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I kept delaying my eye exam because I did not see myself going back there. My husband made me an appointment at Pearle Vision in Revere and I reluctantly agree to go. My experience was meh until I dealt with Artemiy or Arty as he prefers to be addressed. Arty is not just professional and knowledgeable but very helpful and patient. I don't know about you but it takes me a while to figure out the right pair of frames and Arty did not pressure me but actually took the time to guide me and help me throughout the process, explaining to me what my insurances would cover. My glasses were ready within just a couple of days making my experience even better! All in all I would recommend this Pearl Vision location to anyone and I would hope that your get to interact with Arty. read more

Pearl Vision and Dr. Paul V. Hamel are working the system and I will never go back to either one again, just on principle! I went to Peal Vision/Dr. Hamel in February 2016 as I usually did in the beginning of the year for my glasses/contacts/exam. In years past I never had vision insurance, so I just paid out of pocket, but as of 1/1/16 I had vision insurance, wohoo! My first issue is when I went to use my vision insurance the sales associates were telling me that I didn't have those benefits available, that EyeMed didn't cover that etc. Since I am in charge of the employee benefits at my work and I was the one who researched and spoke with the new vision carrier, I knew otherwise. So I left there with only my exam and ordered my contacts. I went somewhere else to use my frame allowance, which went through the insurance no problem, btw. So a few weeks later I received my explanation of benefits from my vision insurance, no issues there. Then a few weeks after that I received an explanation of benefits from my health insurance carrier. It was for an eye exam that I supposedly had in March with Dr. Hamel, NEVER HAPPENED! Pearl Vision/Dr. Hamel submitted a claim to my health insurance (because they pay for an eye exam once every two years) after my vision insurance had already paid them for the exam in late February. Timing is not just coincidence, my vision insurance cut them a check on 2/26/16 and a claim was submitted for a fictitious exam the first week in March!?!?! I reached out to Dr. Hamel's office and they referred me to the Pearl Vision billing office. I spoke with someone in their billing office in April, who told me that the double billing of the exam was an error and would be reversed. I gave them some time to process the reversal at the end of June checked my claims with both carriers, NO REVERSAL. So I called and left a message at the billing office @ Pearl Vision on 6/21/16, they never called me back. Funny though...I called my insurance carrier and filled them in on the issue and surprise Pearl Vision/Dr. Hamel is going to actually process the reversal of the claim, shocking since the carriers can dump providers for things like this. I will never go back to Dr. Hamel or Pearl Vision ever again. Just another example of how the health industry in America is screwed up! I bet Dr.'s get away with this crap everyday and we pay the price in increased insurance premiums! read more

Upon entering and on the phone, the woman I spoke to was very nice and professional. Once I went into the exam room with Dr. Crooks, I asked if i needed to be dilated and he answered with "If I have time." At the ned of the exam, he asked if I wanted to be dilated and I asked what he thinks he said "sure." Unsure if the exam room was sanitary because I did not see any of the machines being cleaned after I entered the room and I did not see the doctor use hand sanitizer or wash his hands before touching me. After being dilated he did put on gloves, but after putting on gloves he touched a lot of surfaces and again I didn't see anything being sanitized that he was putting near me. Did not feel comfortable at this location and with this eye doctor. Overall did not have a good experience and will not be coming back! read more

This is a long over due review of this establishment and their workers, specifically, one, Trang. She seems nice, and timid but man she pushes upgrades onto you so hard it's suffocating. Makes me feel like a cattle being lead to slaughter. It was just too much. She keeps "helping" me pick over priced frames, pricier than the ones I was considering. I want to use my insurance priced upgrades but somehow someway she finds a way to make it seem like it's not enough or that I definitely have to upgrade to their near $300 lenses package. The price just keeps going up. And she makes it seem like I have absolutely no choice in the matter. I left there feeling annoyed, frustrated, and really mad that I was being taken advantaged off. Buying glasses shouldn't be this complicated. I know they get commission but gawd please if a customer declines, then don't keep pushing it. I bought several pairs of rx glasses for myself and family from here in the past because it was close to home and convenient. I won't be back here again. Addendum in response to Sarah S. as she also sent me a note in addition to posting her review: It is not my intention to target a specific employee. It's the last thing I want to do. It just so happens that she is the sales associate who's helped me each time. While your experience may be exceptional, and that's great, but mines wasn't, and that's unfortunate. My experience was the same each and every time I've tried purchasing glasses there. I would like to not leave bad reviews and I am in no way exaggerating my experience. I am glad I didn't read the reviews earlier, otherwise I might have felt hesitant about making my appointment. But I was referred to this place by my previous optometrist, who just recently retired, so I trusted his judgement and I am not sorry I did. I have problematic eyes - one nearsighted and the other one farsighted, so finding the right balance has never been easy. Also so was finding a place that would accept my "poor" employer provided eye insurance. Want to report back that I was seen on time, without any delays. On top of that my insurance was accepted, which didn't help a whole lot, but nevertheless, I got a little break for which I am very thankful. The stuff was very courteous, they took time explaining me all the details of my new progressive lenses (This was the first time I've got progressive lenses, so I am still work-in-progress, as I am trying to get used to the new glasses and work out the angle that works best for me in different situations). Artyom, who helped me choose the lenses and also worked with the insurance company is the epitome of patience, as the insurance didn't really want to cooperate, which was far from surprising to me. However he knew his way around and managed to conquer all the obstacles with a help of another lady who works there. They both are very friendly and helped me quite a bit getting it all done before my vacation. Glancing at the previous reviews, I want to say that they have a selection of American brands for both genders at suggested retail prices, which is typical for the stores. Also if you are concerned that your insurance may not cover your eye exam, you can call them and confirm before making an appointment with the optometrist. They are open late in the evenings and also on Saturdays to accommodate any busy bees. And if you are looking for a decent optometrist and friendly and knowledgeable stuff, you should give this place a try, as you may be pleasantly surprised. read more

Absolutely awful experience. I have been squinting to see nearly anything the last couple months and the doctor here said there would be no change in my prescription. On top of that the slip he gave me was not completely filled out all the way, so when I brought it to warby parker to buy glasses they could not fill the order. While trying to get the remaining numbers for my prescription they told Warby parker I had never been there. When I called myself they only gave me the options of driving back there or faxing it to me. When asked if I could have it emailed they said they did not know how, but maybe a manager could help me. Dare I say I hate this place? Yes, I dare to. I HATE THIS PLACE. I went there for a simple adjustment, and not even like I would normally go there but I just happen to be in the area and it was soooooo convenient I couldn't pass up a chance to quick-fix my loose, sliding-down-my-nose glasses. The lens was popping out of the left side of the frame. Doubt I can really see like that and would be comfortable casually driving around, running errands. They were all, "What do you want us to do?! I don't think it's a good idea to try to adjust them again." UH, Like I want you to touch anything of mine ever again. I want you to replace them! Wait, if they are so jacked that it's such a bad idea to adjust them when they are in that condition, why didn't you say anything when I supposedly handed them to you in that condition?! So, to sum it up, I ended up going back a few times to see the manager. She kept refusing to do anything about the situation and the final time I went back she simply said "Even if we did break your glasses, we're not responsible." and pointed to a shiny new sign. SCAM. All other associates I've dealt with -- and the optometrists there -- have delighted me with their service. However, I will never return to this place again because of Kelly. She is perhaps the most miserable person I've ever encountered in a service environment. She pays no attention to customers, just wants them in and out, and does not apologize for her rudeness. I entered the Revere Pearle Vision on June 30, 2018 at approximately 4:15PM. There was a family being assisted your associate Sixto, while the other associate Daniel was on the computer. Initially entering the store, I surveyed the area to located the Men's Frame. As. I proceeded to the glasses, Mr. Lamas asked me what I was looking for. I replied that I was looking for glasses. There was no follow up from Mr. Lamas and he proceeded to work on the computer. I was looking to make a purchase for both Sunglasses and Prescription glasses. I have been a customer to the location before and the previous associates were able to see if frames may be in a larger size. As I found of pair that I liked, I asked Mr. Lamas if he could verify if any option size was available. He stated that what was out there was all that was available. I knew that was not true due to the fact that another Pearle Vision associate was able to order it for me. I asked again and he replied that he would need to call to see if it was available. This was clearly confusing and misinformation at the beginning of the conversation. I then had asked if the BOGO Free deal was still offered as it was not displayed on in the store. Mr. Lamas answered very rudely that it was still available but it would be full price with no discounts. Having been a customer already and prefacing the visit with that information, it was as if he was treating me as a person without money.The dialogue that transpired thereafter was very terse and rude. At the end of discussion, I asked Mr. Lamas for his name and the name of the manager, because of the lack of service. I was not asked what kind of glasses I was looking for or what kind of frames. It was as if I had to advocate for my own options. As I proceeded to receive the business cards, I looked directly into Mr. Lamas and stated that he should take a step back as to how he communications and delivers customer service. It was very off-putting and I know that if happened to me, then it was happening to other customers as well. I stated to Mr. Lamas that I would contact corporate and was looking to speak with the manager as well. As I began to take 2 steps to exit the store, the associate, Sixto, yelled out and said, "What is your name?" I was puzzled at the question and told him that my name has no substance into the interaction and I asked why he needed it. He stated so that he could follow up with the Manager directly. I rebutted that I would have provided my name had the delivery and method was different. I coached Sixto that in this escalated situation what he should have done was gotten up from his seat and attempt to de-escalate the situation and ask me for my contact information. However, what happened was he yelled from his seat, "WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!" After speaking with Sixto about the delivery, he apologized and stated that it should have been handled differently. However, he did state that the reason why he yelled at me for my name was being I was out the door. I only took 2 steps and he proceed to argue with me that I was out of store already. I then went on to say that customer service is very important in this kind of industry, especially with surrounding stores at 4pm being much busier and that the company may offer career development courses to help with customer service. - this would be very useful for Daniel and Sixto. Having worked in the customer service industry, it was appalling to be treated like that. This is why I am reaching out to corporate for accountability and action against this particular franchise location. Concluding our conversation, Sixto then began to say have a good day, Boss. To use that kind of address, "Boss" was uncalled for and disrespectful. It is clear that both Daniel and Sixto should not be in the service industry. read more

I had an excellent experience today! The Optical Pro. Jesus was so helpful and gracious from the moment I walked in the door. He gave me advice on glasses, chose some for me to try on and explained the costs & options. I left with 2 pairs of glasses & a pair of sunglasses that I didn't realize were covered under my plan. The Dr. was very nice and informative. There was another girl there working as well who was really nice too, but I forgot to get her name. I'm quite sure that the previous reviews here were written about one employee who is no longer there. I would absolutely in a heartbeat recommend this office to friends! This happened about a year ago and I haven't returned since. This is more of an eyewear store rather than an optometrist... meaning that they only care about their sales. I was flat-out lied to-- one of the salesgirls told me it was ILLEGAL to purchase glasses and contacts online. Umm... excuse me? I told them that what they said did not make any sense, considering the websites I purchase from allow shipping in Massachusetts. How could big companies like 1-800-CONTACTS and coastal.com still be in business if they were illegally shipping eyewear all around the country??? She always allows me to take my time (I'm a very indecisive lady) and she always gives her advice without being too pushy or rude. I trust, Trang, and that's what matters! Pearl also has an excellent selection of designer glasses, and if they don't have exactly what you want, Trang offers to order it for you! Trang is seriously the sweetest, most helpful and hard working lady and I feel comfort in the fact that when I enter the shop, Trang will take care of me.
