Terrible service. We made an appointment for 12 pm and waited for 30 minutes before he asked us any questions. It ends up they never wrote down our name and we weren't in their book. When we walked in the door, he asked what we were there for and said "okay take a seat", so he knew the service we needed and that we had an appt. After 30 minutes, he began accusing us of getting salons mixed up and made us prove what number we called. We recited their number from our call history and still denied that we called the right place. He then told us they could do 3 pm. This is all after we waited in silence for 30 minutes. I believe he realized they didn't have enough time to do our nails so he turned it around on us and pretended we didn't go to the right place. We ended up walking out after he told us "we will try to squeeze you in". We went to Solar Nails on River Rd and had a very professional experience. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place. They are overpriced, very rude, and unprofessional. Many of the surrounding salons offer better prices and service. I would give them 0 stars if I could. read more

They don't deserve any stars. This place is awful. My sisters and nieces went here. Some of us got pedicures and some of us got nails and pedicure. The lady didn't even ask me what pedicure I wanted and just did what ever she wanted and charged me for the most expensive one. My niece got fake nails and they broke off the same day. We all got shellac and they started to lift 3 days after we got them done. When I called to talk to the manager she was rude and won't take care of her customers. definately not. went there mothers day weekend for me and my daughter. I have had pedicures at other places and done my own lasting up to a month. My daughters chipped the very next day and mine are now all chipping just one week later! A lot of money on something that doesnt last. They are not friendly at all and seemed very hurried even though we had appointments. The lady asked me if i wanted my toenails shorter i said no, and she cut them anyway. My daughters toe nails were cut way too short, the flower design she did on my toe nail looked like something a first grader could have done. I had the worst experience at this nail " salon". I asked for a mani/ pedi. Let's start with the fact that they had their 13-16 year old teenage son do my pedicure. It was terrible. They don't have matching colors for their gel vs regular and are not sanitary. They make you pay for your files ( I understand that) but it's ridiculous when you're paying 25-45 for a mani or pedi. The boy was then getting started on my manicure. He had trouble taking off the original gel on my nails and ended up scraping off most of my nails! They are extremely thin now and hurt to the touch and are sensitive to hot and cold water. He filed my left had complete to the bed line ( you're never supposed to do that) and they were all crooked. I calmly asked him to stop and that I would pay for a gel removal or cleaning. The " owner" who had her 2 year old toddler running around screaming told me it's $5 for removal. When we went to pay she told me I owed $45. But the pedi was $25 and the removal was $5. When I brought up the discrepancy she got mad at me and told me I had to pay for the services. She was clearly trying to rip me off. I told her I had $40 cash and that I wasn't going to report her " salon" for malpractice considering her teenage son wasn't even old enough to get his nail technician license. I overpaid but I just wanted to leave that filthy place. Worst salon I have ever been to, they are far behind the rest of the world in quality and cleanliness. This salon is awesome. I had to get my nails fixed from a previous encounter at a horrible salon. She fixed my nails for a reasonable price. Then I came back later for nails and it was only 40$ for a full set with gel overlay. It's awesome! She did great! Definitely going back for a fill and color change soon. Horrible customer service!! I called in one week ahead to make an appointment for a full set. I sat down and the owner started working like it was a regular manicure without asking what I wanted. I told him that my appointment was for a full set. He told me that I called and told him I made an appointment just for a fill- so he was only going to do shellac manicure. He told me that I need to be careful because they're trying to work, and can't work on a schedule if "people like me don't make the right appointments." I apologized but stated again I called one week before and made an appointment for a full set. He called me a liar and then told me "next time just make the right appointment." This was all while he was doing my nails. Looking back I should have just walked out, but moving forward- never going here again. I m a nail snob....very picky about how my nails look...I use my hands in front of prospective, and current clients daily...so my nails have to be perfect!!! The Last 15 years I have been to many, many nail salons.I have never left feeling excited, or truly happy. They are either to clunky, uneven, or thick and very fake...not sure about any if you but the more natural the better...i just left designer nails for the 7th time and am still so impressed!!! I wasn't able to make an appointment because they said they didn't have enough staff to accommodate three people. They said they only had 2 people workonh at 6 that same night. Pros: Good prices. $25 Shellac manicure. $10 kids manicure. $15 kids pedicure. The woman that painted my 3 year old daughters nails was very nice to her. The lady that did my mani gave a good hand massage at the end. Cons: The lady that did my nails was kinda grumpy. She used a normal gel polish base and top coat and only shellac color. I felt kinda ripped off. They didn't have my first pick of color. I got black done and its very opaque, I wish she had made it darker. There is dust bumps under my thumb. Four of my fingers have rough tips and almost every finger has polish smudges on the tips. I told them I wanted my daughter to get a mani and pedi, all she did was paint her nails real quick and charge me $5, I could have done that myself at home. If I could put 0 stars I would. I used to be a very loyal customer when Phong and Carly were there, never missed an appointment. I have spent a lot of money here and brought them a lot of business. I had a period of time I didn't have nails, but my son bought me a gift certificate for my birthday because he knew i missed them. I couldn't wait to return and start my nail ritual all over. However the piece of paper that was my gift certificate was thrown out when we moved and when I asked the guy to just look it up and see what we could do, he wasn't having it... wouldn't even take the time to try. Made an appointment for myself and a friend. The lady doing her pedicure was friendly and took her time, while the man that did mine started about 5 minutes after and still managed to finish well before his counterpart. I felt he was rushed and almost forgot to do the callous remover in the package I selected. I am only giving two stars because I know that at least 1 person there knows how to give a good pedicure. I am a cosmetology student who just got done with a 5 week nails course that I passed. I went in hoping to treat myself after giving countless manicures and pedicures acrylic sets etc... when I sat down I showed him the picture of baby boomer nails and he proceeded to tell me he'd "try his best" I then asked him if he's ever done them before and he avoided the question. My nails were extremely rough looking especially my cuticles and he did not nip the dead grown out cuticle or remove the dead cuticle off my nail plate. When he was gluing down the tips they were lifting by the time he was going to put acrylic on (and he did not fix them). He used left over monomer (extremely unsanitary) from the last client for my nails. None of the ombrés match AT ALL and there is dried acrylic ALL OVER my fingers. He also told me I could not go shorter because of the coffin shape which is not true. Would not recommend at all for the service or the sanitation. read more

I went with 2 stars because it wasn't a truly horrendous experience but this place gets no more than that based on the outcome of my pedicure. There is no reason for her to have butchered my toes like she did. It's actually painful to wear shoes now as a result. The massage chairs are great but the polish selection is chaotic. I must've picked up the same six bottles of red twelve times each because I couldn't tell if I'd already checked to see if it was Big Apple Red or not. When green is next to orange and red and purple and then three rows down and nine bottles to the left is another red and six rows up & five from the far right is another red, it's just chaos. Plus they had almost no neutral colors at all; very disappointing. Also with the massage as part of either mani or pedi, don't count on consistency. What you get on one side will be completely different from what you get on the other side. There were some nail techs there that spoke English well; I couldn't understand my girl. At all. read more

My end result was much shorter then he originally cut and the polish/acrylic was so thick and chunky looking. I've gone to Designer Nails several times & each time I've been kept waiting for my appointment for quite a long time. I called yesterday to get an appointment for the next morning @ 930 am to repair my nail, I arrived at 925 am & no-one was there even though they open at 9 am. I ran a quick errand near by, came back about 945 am & was told they didn't have time to repair my nail even though they weren't open when I had my appointment. Meh. I wanted to do acrylics but the lady told me the polish would chip in "like 2 days" and I said it's fine and she kept pushing me to get gel. Ended up spending more for gel polish (which is really just the same thing) cuz she wouldn't give it a rest and I just wanted my nails done. She was really rough as well especially with her own fingernails and the file/buffer. I asked for coffin and matte and that was not what I got, the shape was very round and they were shiny. She also continually told me how "hard" it was to do coffin shaped as if she were trying to work on getting a big tip. I liked them- they weren't horrible and ugly- it just wasn't what I had asked for but it worked. Made a day of appointment for my daughters birthday. She is 7 and wanted a pedicure and this would have been her first. My husband called in the morning and they told him that they had an available time at 3:15. We arrive for her appointment and are just stared at by the staff. After several minutes a male technician approaches us and we told him we were there for our 3:15 appointment. He looks confused and is shaking his head at us but not saying anything. We told him we called and made the appointment earlier that day and my husband said he spoke with a male. The employee proceeds to leave us standing there for 5 minutes while yelling in another language to his female co workers that are in the middle of pedicures and he starts pointing at us. He then brings us his scheduling book, proceeds to shake it in our faces, and shows us there is no appointment written down. He then begins to insinuate we were lying about making an appointment and since they didn't ask for our name when my husband called we obviously hadn't made one. My husband is certain this male employee was the one he spoke with on the phone and that he should have some recollection of the phone conversation. I begin to tell him that it's ok if they aren't available I just need a yes or no answer if they can fit my daughter in. He continues to point at his schedule book without saying anything and then starts yelling in a different language again. At that point we decided that the complete disrespect and lack of common decency were not something we wanted to be subjected to any longer. So we left and my daughter is crying because she was excited for her first pedicure for her birthday. Obviously the 3:15 time slot meant it was too late in the day to attempt getting service at another salon. Which we would have done if they had told us on the phone that they were completely booked. When I say I have never received such horrible costumer service in my entire life, I am not exaggerating. This man was absolutely rude and felt he had the right to be degrading for nothing more than us wanting to pay money for their services. So bad that I signed up and downloaded the yelp app to leave my first business review ever because I feel so strongly that these people are not deserving of business. I love love love Designer Nails! Carly and Phong are adorable, and they do wonders for my toesies. Once, they accidentally made my sister bleed and only charged us half of the bill. Sometimes I have to wait a little, especially if I do not have an appointment, but I do not mind. The artistry is awesome. My pedicures usually last 6-8 weeks if I take proper care of them. I'm disappointed with the manicure received. It seemed the nail specialist was overbooked and in a rush. At one time while filing my thumbnail, she was actually filing the skin. The nail beds have scratches from the woman using the wrong side of the buffer tool. The nail polish was applied unevenly and was sloppy at the edges of the nail bed. My nails looked exactly how they do when I paint my nails. Poor customer service and poor skills. I won't return. read more
