They said they were pulled over by cops for truck lift issues; understood. 11am: I called again for status, they were still pulled over and said that they'd send a replacement truck/crew in 20mins; alright. 11:30am: I called again. They said there wasn't really a replacement truck and that they had to rent one out. Ok, but I am starting to get anxious. 12noon: I call again and ask for an explanation. The person asks me if I have no patience!?!? 12:30pm: The original truck shows up but it is not in a transportable condition. 1:00pm: Thanks but no thanks and please get your act together. read more

Our move went fairly well although they showed up two hours late (came after a reminder and two calls). The team we were assigned to didn't come, instead the movers came with two local contractors. The guys took care of our stuff pretty well and had no issues. We could finish 90% of the moving within 3hours and were charged for that only, added tips later on. I had Desi Movers for my quite big size moving, and the team of Preet, Sethi and Tarun did an exceptional service. They called 30 min before arrival , had all packaging materials for leather sofa, glass and bed, de-assembled all bed furniture, cling wrapped everything and loaded all items and boxes very nicely. The unloading part was efficiently done too. Entire move done with no scratch. Update- Had Desi Movers again for my next move also - And they did the same fantastic job. A few helpful hints, before I start my review: 1) Have as much stuff packed as you can. Yes, they'll pack it for you, but the more you have organized, the faster they can move you (and the more money you can save). I took the clothing filled drawers out of my dressers and moved them myself to make it easier for them to move the actual dressers (those things are well built and HEAVY). 2) Give exact directions to your pickup and dropoff locations. I forgot that my pickup location was hard to find, and as a result, the movers were 30 minutes behind schedule. 3) Be nice. Ok, so this should go without saying... suffice it to say that they'll work with you if you work with them. In regards to #1, I discovered that I'd piled the drawers in such a way that the movers were blocked from putting my desk in place. While I scrambled to move them, they also told me not to rush, they had other things they could do. So they put the other furniture in, and once I was done, put the desk exactly where I'd asked. OK, on to the review! My husband and I needed to move from my 2 bedroom condo to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. The only furniture that needed to be moved were the above mentioned dressers, one old fashioned nightstand, a smaller dresser, one old fashioned bed, two desks, two bookcases, and a TV stand. There were, of course, the usual books, clothes, etc. packed in boxes. (We had more stuff in our patio shed, but in the interest of time, we decided to move it ourselves.) Since I couldn't leave work, I had to organize things over the phone, with my future roommates (who were able to meet them onsite) directing traffic. I was able to get there just as Miguel, Oscar and Alejandro were finishing loading the truck, and I was impressed--they had managed to load all the stuff I specified in about 3 hours. And it only took them one trip. It took them another hour to unload, and they were very good at communicating with us--they asked where things should go, and let me know that there were too many boxes to put in the respective rooms. Oh, I should also mention the packing process. The dressers, bed and nightstand belonged to my great grandmother--it's been in my family since at least the 1940s, and I've been using it since I was born. One of my worries was that it would be damaged during the move, but it didn't have so much as a scratch, thanks to the padding and wrapping that they did. I also had a set of very expensive light bulbs that also made the trip in one piece. In fact, the only thing that was broken was a small mirror which wasn't being used in the first place. My total cost for the move, plus the $20 tips I gave to each mover, was $510. That may sound expensive to some, but the last time we moved, it took us four days to pack, three days to load and unload the truck, and cost us $1k courtesy of U-Haul. Would I use them again? Moving is one of those unpleasant events that we don't look forward to, though there is excitement about moving to a new home, the anticipation of how move will proceed is just very stressful. The wait and the fear lingers till the move does not start and end. A friend recommend Desi Movers, and I called and spoke to Jagmohan and shared my pathetic past experiences with a few moving companies in the South Bay, Jagmohan recommended to schedule the move at 8 a.m (the first move of the day). We negotiated the price and other details, I felt assured that MAYBE it's going to be a smooth transition. I called and reconfirmed the appointment a few days before the move again. Still a sinking feeling because something has to go wrong somewhere.... The day off the move, we were ready before 8 a.m with everything sealed and labeled, and our diligent movers showed up at 8 a.m SHARP, it was a team of three and the lead/driver was Abby(extremely sharp and did a great job leading his crew). Once they started, it was a matter of two hours, yes within two hours they loaded the truck fully, this also included packing the furniture so there were no scratches/damages. By 10:15 the truck was locked and on its way home. The unloading started at about 10:45 a.m and it went super fast again, the team was non stop and didn't seem like they needed a break, I admire their strength and its tough sweating it out. By 12:15 Abby and team were ready to leave for the next move, the next move was scheduled for 1 p.m so they were on time for the next person as well. Diligent, Efficient and Punctual, great package! They seriously deserved a fantastic tip since nothing was damaged and everything made it to the new home within the four hour window, they seemed to be determined to be done in four hours, I didn't have to deal with any extra cost for packing, taping or any unknown costs (as it happened in my previous move), Jagmohan movers made it seamless and lived up to the assurance they gave me while scheduling. My mom recently used these movers. She's Indian, so she always tries to support Indian businesses. These are the worst movers I have ever seen. My family has moved multiple times, so I know how professional movers pack. This company just randomly piles things in boxes and doesn't label what's in the box. They used my mom's comforters to wrap TVs. They taped these comforters directly on to the TV screen! They just crumpled bedding into a ball then haphazardly wrapped it in plastic wrap. They lost screws and bolts for the bed frames, so I have to go buy new ones. I'm surprised they have good reviews. Perhaps they took advantage of a trusting senior? I'm very disappointed with Desi Movers. read more

Totally dissatisfied. Pros: They charge hourly but did not waste any time. Cons: They broke and damaged a lot of our stuff during the move. They lack a proper skills to arrange stuff in their truck, so that things don't collide with each other when the truck moves. They did not take responsibility of the damage when I called to complain. I gave a good review initially before I noticed broken stuff. List of things they damaged during the move. 1. Back board of our brand-new king sized bed had two holes around 3 inches wide (Back board was in the original packaging). 2. A glass pitcher of a blender was completely shattered even though it was packed properly in a box. 3. Big chunk of wood had chipped from a drawer chest. I called the owner guy about the damage. I used their service for shifting from Fremont to San Jose. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the move. Ranjith and team came at 11:00 AM and everything was wrapped up and unpacked by 2:00 PM at my destination(super fast). They were very professional in packing up all my furniture(including TV). I did not have a box for the TV, but they wrapped it up with a good support cloth and made sure no damage happened. All furniture was intact and no scratches or dents or breakage. I definitely recommend their service to anyone. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 was because they kind of messed up the assembly of my bed frame(I had to dismantle everything and reassemble again) but I wouldn't blame them completely, I was there next to them and I should have stopped when I noticed things were going wrong with reassembly. We have used desi movers for both our moves in the past and they have not disappointed us. Both the moves went as expected and the workers helping with the move are friendly and accomodative. We had issues moving our washer/dryer, but the owner helped us by offering to help with the washer/dryer move as a separate move accommodating our needs. I hired Desi Movers at very short notice. I called them in the morning for a move in the afternoon and they were ready to accommodate my move. I write this as a two time customer of Desi movers. I requested their service this time with 4 guys at a rate way more than other moving company i had used last time. Moved from fremont to dublin. The guys showed up a little late but that's fine. We all have a real job and circumstances beyond our control. - Two guys went upstairs and picked up first box. They were super tired and out of breathe on first box. When I enquired, I was told they had a late move until 2 AM, previous day. - Three guys worked on one bed to disassemble. They had no concept of working in parallel. After observing 2 of the guys on phone for few mins multiple times, I requested to work in parallel. I had to repeat myself a few times within a couple hours. - One person walked three rooms holding one light room lamp, slow as it can get. I have moved 4 times in past. This was either deliberate or due to them being overworked. - When we reached dublin, I handed my power tool to one guy(they did not have multiple power tools) so they could assemble a bed. The other tool was in use. I didn't get the tool back, after desi movers left. I called up that day to confirm if the movers had taken my tool and I was told it was with them. I picked it up in evening after two weeks but it was another tool. Not even the same model. Sent an email from their website, two weeks and still no response. Very unprofessional. - I ended up paying about 70% more than I should have. To their credit, they were careful with my furniture and didn't cause any damage. However I got efficiency of 2 guys when I paid for 4. I'd take my business elsewhere in future. - The move back in 2012 was very efficient and professional. Seeing their trucks in the neighborhood before, I decided to check them out on yelp (great reviews) and have them over for our move to San Francisco last week. The reservation was made with Mr.Jagmohan a week before and he was very prompt in his responses. We requested for a 830 am as we did not want to hit the Fri evening traffic to SF. On the day of the move, the guys came in at 10 am. Preet, Dino and Naaz were quick to analyze where to start from and got to work in no time. I must say that they truly are hard working and efficient! Would have given a 5 star if the pricing promised before the move was respected, it got into a haggle mode after the job was done and I ended up paying a little more. They provide efficient moving services. Jag was kind enough to accommodate our moving needs on a short notice. We got three guys and one of them could effectively communicate in English and that was a great help in giving directions. They considered all our requests in packing, unhooking washer/dryer and hooking it back and they even helped in taking down an expensive chandelier. The crew is always in motion and they hardly took rest during the 10 hour move. Taking one star out for a small dent they made in my wall which they did not acknowledge. I am very impressed with their service. The movers arrived at the scheduled time (3pm) sharp. They called me twice to confirm that they will arrive at 3pm. Very friendly, professional and efficient. Loaded the truck in little over an hour from my 2nd floor apartment at Berkeley and unloaded in 45 minutes into my 2nd floor apartment in Fremont (1 queen sized bed, mattress, one big couch, one table, one chest among the heavy stuff and 27 medium and large box full of stuff). Four hispanic guys (Jose, Jose, Carlos and forgot the name of the fourth one), no issues communicating in English, talked in Spanish I guess among themselves. Given it was during the long weekend, I am happy to have paid them 400$ for 4 hours of their service (375$ for moving, 25$ long distance fuel charge-Berkeley to Fremont) plus the gratuity. We moved from a 3 bed to a 5 bed home. In bringing furniture from upstairs, they dragged the bedside tables down from the stairs causing scratches on the furniture as well as stairs! I believe their were many points of contacts of furniture with the walls leaving ruptured and damaged walls around the stairs My TV stand has a bunch of drawers with accented knobs for all doors and drawers, 1 knob is now missing, I am not sure where to find a replacement! 3 people were supposed to come initially but only 2 showed up for first 3 hours, they got more people later on but my 1 mile move took started at about 3:15pm and continued past 11pm, we took all kitchen, closet and small items, they were hired just for larger a furniture. They are good people but not skilled or efficient workers! Watch out! read more
